Does “right hand” mean right hand retrieve? As in the cranking handle is on the right? I want the model with the crank on the left side.

Answer: Right hand means use right hand rock the reel handle, and use left hand hold the fishing rod, and the reel up on the rod. left hand reel's crank is on the left.

Answer: With a moderate rod tip and a lot of practice it can. This reel does roll off the spool easily but less than 1/4oz take some practice loading the rod on the cast. For just $30 more the Lew’s KVD 80 size is much smoother and has many features of a reel in the $200 range.

CB : Excellent starter bfs reel. Cast small baits a mile.

Was able to cast 2 gram lures. excellent bfs reel. Drag is smooth and sensitive. I fished it with 8# test line on a kuying Teton rod 6’6” 2 to 10 gram lures 3 to 8 lb test line. The reel feels really crank heavy was my only dislike. But it performs so well for the price point I would buy it again. It’s a blast to catch bluegill on a bait caster.
