Answer: I havent dehydrated fruit but numerous websites have all different Temps for different items. I've mostly just made jerky with mine and the first few batches were experiments. Try this recommendation and wasn't satisfied so tried another. Trial and error and you will find what works for you.

I had seen on a review that this machine could be used as bread proofing machine as well. Is this true?
Answer: I don't see why not. If bread proofing is ok to be utilized with a backfan blowing super dry hot air over it then yes. I think if so, you may have to rotate your bread. However, please note the trays are precise squares (but close) and seem to only want to fit in the racks in a single direction only allowing you to essentially rotate the tray itself in 180 degree increments. Answer: Yes, it can dehydrate anything that any dehydrator can. I have not done hummus but I it's a good idea!
Answer: I made fruit roll-ups from apple sauce which is pretty liquidy but it takes a while to remove all the water. Probably would work for humus.

Answer: More heat equates to more drying power. Essentially, is the same as laying your material in the sun or in a shady area. Both will dry the material; one is just a bit faster, that's all.
Answer: It's more powerful. It dries in a more efficient manner.

Answer: This should be able to dehydrate meats. It offers a very wide range of temperatures from 95 - 158 degrees F. You could look up some recipes to be sure. The stainless steel trays are about 1/2 " mesh and some foods will fall through. You might want additional trays that are sold separately (with either fine openings or solid trays). I haven't used mine for meat, but for a variety of other foods is has served me very well - fruit leathers, kale, garlic, mushrooms, herbs and likely a few other things I am not recalling at the moment.
Answer: I have not tried drying beef or hamburger. I have made beef jerky and it turned out great. But that meat was marinated. You might try a small amount of burger first. I recommend patting it as dry as possible with paper towels to remove as much moisture as possible first. Good luck!

Answer: I don't know exactly the process for making summer sausage. However, this unit is basically the same as any dehydrator; it has a heating element and a fan to extract the moisture. I purchased this unit for my wife to dry meat to make a sort of dried beef. The main selling points of this unit are the stainless steel shelves and exterior, the number and spacing options of shelves, the heating element and physical size of the unit. For my wife and I, it is exactly what we wanted. It should be noted that the thicker and more dense your fruit or meat is, the longer drying time will be required. Hope this helps.

Answer: The "drip tray" is not stainless steel however the type of plastic they use makes it super easy to clean it's like a no-stick surface. You could always cover the bottom of the unit with aluminum foil if you don't want any plastics in the unit. You could also let it drip on the bottom but that would be a bit harder to clean up. This particular dehydrator was a great investment. I made some of the best jerky in this unit. Can even give you a recipe if you want!

For the most part, anytime you see a company name which you don't recognize and no USA city or phone number as a contact, it would point me to believe the product was made outside of the USA. I prefer to support American made products as well, but I could not find a stainless steel shelf unit with the large capacity that I wanted.
Answer: Yes. And, I must say, I don't know how I have lived as long as I have without it! It is bigger than I had thought, so, at first, I was not sure if I was happy with it or not. But, once I began dehydrating my meats and herbs, I was absolutely thrilled. You can't go wrong with this dehydrator.....I promise you.

Answer: I assume you mean that the hinge and frame are still in good working order. In that case, I would recommend that you find a food grade adhesive, because all adhesives are not necessarily suitable to be around your food. I have never used anything other than a super glue, but I wouldn't recommend that type of material due to the heat. If it were me, I would search the net for high temp food grade adhesives.

What would be the point of using two pieces of electronic equipment, if trying to live more sustainably or avoiding the need to can or freeze.

Answer: The magnet is just there to keep the door closed. Unlike an over or refrigerator your door does not "seal" or have a gasket. A dehydrdator needs to have airflow so that "moist" air is removed. I have two different dehydrators one column style and this one. Both of them you can feel the air leaving. The column has holes in the top so air leaves and this one there is a slight gap at the top of the door for air circulation. Basically yes the magnet keeps the door closed, no it isnt a real seal.

Answer: Yes. You are missing something. Must not have read about your product before purchasing? It only has a few preset temps. It lists these these temps. Your temp of 160 is not a choice of pre-set temps.

I liked the stainless steel trays and more importantly the higher temperature setting this offers. So far it's worked well after 4 runs. I don't like the obnoxiously long duration beeping it does when finished. If you run it in evenings like I do, it'll wake you up thinking your smoke alarm is going off. All-in-all a minor inconvenience.

I can't believe how nice this is. I went through a lot of listings for other brands and was very worried about the amount of plastic in the so called "high end" models. I went with this model because it was all stainless steel (and had the best reviews). The Ivation dehydrator (I got the 10 tray model) looks and feels like it was twice the cost. Everything about it is so well made, I was very impressed when taking it out of the box and it looks so good I don't mind leaving it out all the time (which is good because it is big!). There are a few features that I would have considered paying more for, if they were available as options. Being able to accurately set the temperature instead of the "9 degree" increments would have been nice. I'm new to dehydrating and if the recipe says 135 degrees, I would feel better setting it to the exact temperature instead of deciding to go higher or lower. I wish you could turn the beeping sound down or off, as it is a little loud. I would also have liked to purchase more of the fruit leather trays, as it only came with one. I haven't seen that as an option, though. But those aren't deal breakers for me. I would much rather have a high quality product at a very reasonable price and trade off a few features that aren't very important to me anyways. One other important feature for me besides the materials used to construct it is the size.
And this thing is huge! I plan on gardening this year and I really want to dehydrate a lot of the harvest. Right now I have about 6 pounds of apples drying (sliced at about 3/16 of an inch). This would have taken days to get through the oven or a small dehydrator. I don't have an oven thermometer so I can't check the accuracy of the temperature setting. I am curious and will try to remember to update when I get one and check it out. Overall, really thrilled with this purchase!

Love love love this dehydrator. The temperature seems to be close if not right on the temperature desired. Easy to use, and I Love the ease of rotating the trays when needed. The door on the machine closes easily and opens easily, especially when you have a tray in hand, you don't have to put down the tray to open the door to use both hands like some dehydrators. I would recommend this dehydrator with its 10 trays to anyone who wants to begin to, or is a veteran of dehydrating.

I have been looking for full stainless steel tray, where there is no plastic parts involved. All inside parts are fully stainless steel. Drip tray seems plastic (BPA free) so am using the 10th tray with aluminum foil sheet.

I’ve had this running almost every day since we got it. It’s so easy to use. I just need to remember not to lean in it and turn it off with my stomach. Would have been a 5 vs 4 except it is hard to find the liners that are the same size as trays. I ended up getting one size down and they work. And it only does temperatures in Larger increments not by 1 degree against a time. Overall I love it and the wattage is higher that all the others I looked at. It works great.

IVe been making jerky since I was 10 and my mom bought a Ronco in the late 70s. From the drip tray to the fan situated in the back for even drying and no need for tray rotation to the digital controls and thin wire on the trays to reduce food sticking, this thing is very simply and and thoughtfully put together. If you are planning on reading more reviews, stop wasting your time and put it in your cart.

I can't believe how nice this is. I went through a lot of listings for other brands and was very worried about the amount of plastic in the so called "high end" models. I went with this model because it was all stainless steel (and had the best reviews). The Ivation dehydrator (I got the 10 tray model) looks and feels like it was twice the cost. Everything about it is so well made, I was very impressed when taking it out of the box and it looks so good I don't mind leaving it out all the time (which is good because it is big!). There are a few features that I would have considered paying more for, if they were available as options. Being able to accurately set the temperature instead of the "9 degree" increments would have been nice. I'm new to dehydrating and if the recipe says 135 degrees, I would feel better setting it to the exact temperature instead of deciding to go higher or lower. I wish you could turn the beeping sound down or off, as it is a little loud. I would also have liked to purchase more of the fruit leather trays, as it only came with one. I haven't seen that as an option, though. But those aren't deal breakers for me. I would much rather have a high quality product at a very reasonable price and trade off a few features that aren't very important to me anyways. One other important feature for me besides the materials used to construct it is the size.
And this thing is huge! I plan on gardening this year and I really want to dehydrate a lot of the harvest. Right now I have about 6 pounds of apples drying (sliced at about 3/16 of an inch). This would have taken days to get through the oven or a small dehydrator. I don't have an oven thermometer so I can't check the accuracy of the temperature setting. I am curious and will try to remember to update when I get one and check it out. Overall, really thrilled with this purchase!

It didn t came with an intruction manuel and no recepie book . I try to dry cherry tomatoes from a recepie on the internet it said the longer you dry then the better they taste the recepie said to dry them at 118 f to 122 f for at less 10 to 12 hours i did 24 h because it wasn t dry enough . So in the morning i increased to 130f i think for another hour then took them out. They taste good but it took to long to dry!!!! Help

The Ivation 10 tray dehydrator has been a delight to use. Holds tons of food, which makes the prep work will worth it. Have not had to move or rotate trays. Have done fruits, veggies, and jerky. All of which turned out amazing. This machine has ran just about every day since it showed up. Will be using it wire a bit as we have a bunch of blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries on our property, Not including everything else. I'll try to update this fall on the endurance of the dehydrator, but as it stands we love this machine and am so happy we spend a few extra bucks
My biggest issue with this machine is the trays are not square. Go ahead laugh,right. The trays are so close that I can't tell what easy they fit in not a problem, but it does get a annoying at times when loading the machine

Fantastic product. Dried fruit in half the time of my round, plastic dehydrator and has several times the capacity. The entire batch dried perfectly evenly, no rotating racks. Temperature control and timer are very nice to have. All metal construction gives me peace of mind. Even at high heat, you can remove the racks bare-handed. Whisper quiet. Saves me a lot of time, and keeps produce from going off that otherwise would, due to large capacity.

Love love love this dehydrator. The temperature seems to be close if not right on the temperature desired. Easy to use, and I Love the ease of rotating the trays when needed. The door on the machine closes easily and opens easily, especially when you have a tray in hand, you don't have to put down the tray to open the door to use both hands like some dehydrators. I would recommend this dehydrator with its 10 trays to anyone who wants to begin to, or is a veteran of dehydrating.

It is larger than I thought, so check the specs before buying. But the air flow was even, I didn't have to flip my jerky or pineapple at all. And dried faster than my old one which was a 5 tray circular one.

I love everything about this item. Very easy to use. I was concerned that the door allows some air and heat to escape, then read that it's normal/part of the design. Very easy to clean. I put all of the trays in a large bucket and fill with hot water to soak and the meat stuck on brushes right off. Meat is cooked evenly. In addition to beef jerky, I make Jalapeno rolls. Made with Turkey bacon, roll a few jalapenos and add any heat sauces and powders. A hit for family and friends. I use cayenne powder, and drops of habanero, then roll it up, stick toothpicks to keep rolled, 8 hours on 131 degrees.

I liked the stainless steel trays and more importantly the higher temperature setting this offers. So far it's worked well after 4 runs. I don't like the obnoxiously long duration beeping it does when finished. If you run it in evenings like I do, it'll wake you up thinking your smoke alarm is going off. All-in-all a minor inconvenience.

This Dehydrator is awesome. It is all stainless outer shell,Bigger then I thought and has handles on sides. I make sweet potato treats for my dog Mercy. I was buying them at the pet store at a very high price,this cut the price by 75%. It is a super nice machine I love it. Well built -Easy to use -set it and forget it - with the auto temp/timer .

I spent over 3 hours researching/searching for the perfect dehydrator-well, I found it. Ivation, large capacity, easy to program, simple to clean, well made and very durable. Attention jerky lovers: The temperature goes as high as 167* which makes it beyond safe when dehydrating meats and 10 racks will dry a lot of jerky!! You set the temp/time to wherever you desire. Comes with a drip tray on the bottom. I can load this unit up and dry a lot of food items. *I bought inexpensive silicone sheets to cover the racks and then pour pureed fruits to make fruit leather-both fast and amazing! This unit is large and it is heavy, sturdy and solid.I also like the glass window to peek inside. Perfect for someone who really uses a dehydrator to it's fullest extent. This IS a workhorse. Again, very easy to clean. I have only had it for a month, yet I have used it quite a lot and I highly recommend this if you do not want a small low power plastic unit. Speaking of power-this machine has 1000w. Stop agonizing (like I did) over which unit to buy-this is the dream machine: Ivation. P.S. Does not come with a recipe book, no big deal as recipes are all over the internet. You tube is amazing.
Way2go53 : Preset Temperature Options. You can’t change temp to what you want.
Arrived a day early in perfect condition. I gave it a 3 because it has temperature presets. That makes no sense to me and is not mentioned anywhere in the description. I want to dry my fruits and vegetables at 125 degrees but my only option in that range is 122 or 131 degrees?! I am using it for the first time and will update this review when I’ve used it more. I’m new to dehydrating so hopefully the temperature difference won’t be a problem.

I love the dehydrator but Ibha e a problem with Temp Control... its not as precise as you would think with plus and minu, skips to many number, also our model doesn't go up to whats advertised. We have learned to work around those and produce some really good jerky and our customers are enjoying our product.

I Love This Dehydrator! This is the 10 tray stainless steel. It is stainless steel. Some of the reviews are confusing because different models are all reviewed at the same time. I've been using it for a month. Controls are easy. Also not too heavy. I move mine into and out of the kiction as needed.
