How noisy is this when dehydrating?

Answer: Not noisy at all . The 6 trays clean up easy in the dishwasher . Simple to use and it makes sumptuous jerky . I had to play around until I got a couple of my favorite recipes . Now I won't hesitate to whip up a batch . I get a lot of request from my fellow co-workers .

Where can I find the temps you need to dehydrate different fruit??

Answer: I havent dehydrated fruit but numerous websites have all different Temps for different items. I've mostly just made jerky with mine and the first few batches were experiments. Try this recommendation and wasn't satisfied so tried another. Trial and error and you will find what works for you.

I had seen on a review that this machine could be used as bread proofing machine as well. Is this true?

Answer: I don't see why not. If bread proofing is ok to be utilized with a backfan blowing super dry hot air over it then yes. I think if so, you may have to rotate your bread. However, please note the trays are precise squares (but close) and seem to only want to fit in the racks in a single direction only allowing you to essentially rotate the tray itself in 180 degree increments. Hope that helps!

Can this product dehydrate liquids? Hummus?

Answer: Yes, it can dehydrate anything that any dehydrator can. I have not done hummus but I it's a good idea!

Answer: I made fruit roll-ups from apple sauce which is pretty liquidy but it takes a while to remove all the water. Probably would work for humus.

Does this thing have a warenty?

Answer: Yes, This product is covered by a limited one-year warranty.

I need a Cover for the dehydrator

What is the advantage of having 1000 watts? Others have 600 watts.

Answer: More heat equates to more drying power. Essentially, is the same as laying your material in the sun or in a shady area. Both will dry the material; one is just a bit faster, that's all.

Answer: It's more powerful. It dries in a more efficient manner.

can this dehydrate beef. hamburger?

Answer: This should be able to dehydrate meats. It offers a very wide range of temperatures from 95 - 158 degrees F. You could look up some recipes to be sure. The stainless steel trays are about 1/2 " mesh and some foods will fall through. You might want additional trays that are sold separately (with either fine openings or solid trays). I haven't used mine for meat, but for a variety of other foods is has served me very well - fruit leathers, kale, garlic, mushrooms, herbs and likely a few other things I am not recalling at the moment.

Answer: I have not tried drying beef or hamburger. I have made beef jerky and it turned out great. But that meat was marinated. You might try a small amount of burger first. I recommend patting it as dry as possible with paper towels to remove as much moisture as possible first. Good luck!

Answer: I don't know exactly the process for making summer sausage. However, this unit is basically the same as any dehydrator; it has a heating element and a fan to extract the moisture. I purchased this unit for my wife to dry meat to make a sort of dried beef. The main selling points of this unit are the stainless steel shelves and exterior, the number and spacing options of shelves, the heating element and physical size of the unit. For my wife and I, it is exactly what we wanted. It should be noted that the thicker and more dense your fruit or meat is, the longer drying time will be required. Hope this helps.

Answer: To the best of my knowledge, there is no cover available to buy. As I plan to have my on our back porch, I plan to create one myself to keep pests out. I have planned to use plywood to make a cover. That is my plan at this moment.

Is the drip tray stainless steel as well?

Answer: The "drip tray" is not stainless steel however the type of plastic they use makes it super easy to clean it's like a no-stick surface. You could always cover the bottom of the unit with aluminum foil if you don't want any plastics in the unit. You could also let it drip on the bottom but that would be a bit harder to clean up. This particular dehydrator was a great investment. I made some of the best jerky in this unit. Can even give you a recipe if you want!

Answer: I am fairly certain this product is NOT made in the USA. For the most part, anytime you see a company name which you don't recognize and no USA city or phone number as a contact, it would point me to believe the product was made outside of the USA. I prefer to support American made products as well, but I could not find a stainless steel shelf unit with the large capacity that I wanted.

Answer: Yes. And, I must say, I don't know how I have lived as long as I have without it! It is bigger than I had thought, so, at first, I was not sure if I was happy with it or not. But, once I began dehydrating my meats and herbs, I was absolutely thrilled. You can't go wrong with this dehydrator.....I promise you.

The face panel on mine came off what kind of adhesive do I use to put it back on

Answer: I assume you mean that the hinge and frame are still in good working order. In that case, I would recommend that you find a food grade adhesive, because all adhesives are not necessarily suitable to be around your food. I have never used anything other than a super glue, but I wouldn't recommend that type of material due to the heat. If it were me, I would search the net for high temp food grade adhesives.

Does this hold 6 or 10 trays??

Answer: Well the photo and description shows the 10 tray model. I have a 6 tray model so I suppose it's which ever one you decide on. They make both models. Just read the description carefully and pick the one you want.

How long does the food last

Answer: I did apricots and apples. The apricots i gave away over 3 weeks. The apples i froze - so cant tell you yet! I put them all in zip lock bags. I think there are some recipe books that will tell you how long each lasts - but i suspect once dried quite a while. Good luck!

Answer: Food should not need to be frozen AFTER dehydrating. You can store dried food for at least a year, keeping it out of sunlight and in a cold cupboard. What would be the point of using two pieces of electronic equipment, if trying to live more sustainably or avoiding the need to can or freeze.

Answer: The obvious answer is 2 trays! I chose the 10-tray because it fit under our wall cabinets. We are a 4 person family, and I felt that the 10-tray was adequate for making food for 4 people. The 10-tray is a superb product.

Answer: I cannot say for sure since I am not in front of the unit, but I believe the fan is about 4" in diameter. I believe the important value is the CFM of air moved, especially since it is an exhaust fan.

Answer: It’s not clear why you would even want to do that. The fan and heat is inside the enclosed case so I don’t think that would work. Plus, the heat from the stove might melt any internal plastic parts and wiring.

Answer: Lining the trays with parchment paper will probably hinder the dehydration process. I have used it for beets, yellow squash, chicken jerky, . . . and while things sometimes stick (depending on how dry you want your veggies to be) I have not found it to be a problem. Crispy dried foods do not seem to stick, and even if items do stick, the trays are easily cleaned by soaking in hot water. I would avoid cleaning them in a dishwasher as that would etch the metal and make them more likely to stick to food.

Any warranty on it? I would love to purchase additional 2 or 3 year warranty.

Is there a tray with sides to hold liquid for dehydrating?

Answer: No there is not

Does the door close to a magnet type to seal tightly?

Answer: The magnet is just there to keep the door closed. Unlike an over or refrigerator your door does not "seal" or have a gasket. A dehydrdator needs to have airflow so that "moist" air is removed. I have two different dehydrators one column style and this one. Both of them you can feel the air leaving. The column has holes in the top so air leaves and this one there is a slight gap at the top of the door for air circulation. Basically yes the magnet keeps the door closed, no it isnt a real seal.

i bought this and it stopped working after 6 uses in 3 mos. Amazon can’t help. I need to buy replacement control panel. How do I do this?

Answer: I would contact the seller of this item and ask them for contact info for the manufacturers of this product. From there you can ask the manufacturer for a replacement board. Hope that helps! I have this dehydrator and I absolutely love it.

Answer: Yes. You are missing something. Must not have read about your product before purchasing? It only has a few preset temps. It lists these these temps. Your temp of 160 is not a choice of pre-set temps.

Answer: No you're not missing anything. That is the pre-sets. No in between.

If you dehydrate onions, does it make the odor permanent?

Answer: If you meant in your dehydrator than I would say no it doesn't since you want to clean it out before your next batch. If you meant within the onion itself I would imagine it would smell like dried chopped onions you would get at the supermarket.

We are using this dehydrator as a first time user of any type of dehydrator. We've made kale chips, spicy chickpeas, dried bananas, and dried blueberries. We are experimenting with each first batch and making second or third batches to hone the recipes. The results are excellent!
Ivation sends no recipes with this dehydrator which is a missed opportunity on their part to help new users. We have purchased dehydrator recipe books to get recipes.
The temperatures are set, so if you are making a recipe with a specific temperature you may have to choose the closest set temperature. (I haven't explored if there is an option to bypass the set temperatures to use your own temperature choice).
We have the 10-tray and it fits on our countertop and under the top cabinets.

There is plenty of room to dehydrate a lot of veggies. Quite easy cleaning. I would buy another for twice the processing. I am adding to this review. This was purchased then delivered on nov 23rd by Jan 28th it no longer functions. I had til the 31st to return it. I processed the return. I have 30 days to send it back. New one on the way. If the same thing happens I will be back to report. I was very pleased with this unit. I searched a long time to find the right one for my needs. I thought this was it. Easy use buttons in the front of the unit. Large capacity clear front glass door. Clean look. Fit in the location I had for it. I sure hope I don’t regret getting a refund. I am a gardener and have many uses for this unit. If it DIES again my review will not be to ever buy this unit. Time will tell. We control weather they make money. Let’s just keep that in mind. Okay, had to give the unit a 4 star for breaking down on me...
But I wish I could give the seller kudos (high marks) for taking good care of me when I contacted them about the issue. They were impressive.
As far as the unit goes, it is very large and spacious as well as having the racks nicely spaced. The only issue I have is that the racks can be a bit tough to clean if you aren't putting in a very clean product to start with (I dried durian in it and it was a mess - and tasted not so good ...lol...). For drying apples, pears, mango, etc, I had no problem. Peach was okay as long as it was firm. The reason is that the racks have ridges to them is because of the way the racks' strands (the wire mesh) are interlaced. It is a minor inconvenience but still adds time to cleanup.
I have used several different dehydrators over the years, with many different configurations, and I have to say that this gave me a consistent product whether on the top rack or on the bottom and did not matter the load (full or partial). For the price, it makes it capable of competing with more costly units such as Excalibur. It is a high recommend in my opinion.

IVe been making jerky since I was 10 and my mom bought a Ronco in the late 70s. From the drip tray to the fan situated in the back for even drying and no need for tray rotation to the digital controls and thin wire on the trays to reduce food sticking, this thing is very simply and and thoughtfully put together. If you are planning on reading more reviews, stop wasting your time and put it in your cart.

Fantastic product. Dried fruit in half the time of my round, plastic dehydrator and has several times the capacity. The entire batch dried perfectly evenly, no rotating racks. Temperature control and timer are very nice to have. All metal construction gives me peace of mind. Even at high heat, you can remove the racks bare-handed. Whisper quiet. Saves me a lot of time, and keeps produce from going off that otherwise would, due to large capacity.

It is larger than I thought, so check the specs before buying. But the air flow was even, I didn't have to flip my jerky or pineapple at all. And dried faster than my old one which was a 5 tray circular one.

The Ivation 10 tray dehydrator has been a delight to use. Holds tons of food, which makes the prep work will worth it. Have not had to move or rotate trays. Have done fruits, veggies, and jerky. All of which turned out amazing. This machine has ran just about every day since it showed up. Will be using it wire a bit as we have a bunch of blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries on our property, Not including everything else. I'll try to update this fall on the endurance of the dehydrator, but as it stands we love this machine and am so happy we spend a few extra bucks

My biggest issue with this machine is the trays are not square. Go ahead laugh,right. The trays are so close that I can't tell what easy they fit in not a problem, but it does get a annoying at times when loading the machine

This is the THIRD DEHYDRATOR. Expensive and worth it.
Solid, well built, works perfect.
Controls out front where you need them.
Glass door easy visible and solid.
Ventilates humid air outside to actually dry the food. First unit stirred moist air with no ventilation. 40 hours not dehydrated.
This unit dried herbs in two hours with medium heat. Could have lowered the temp for better quality nutrition.
Spend the extra for a lifelong quality product.

I spent over 3 hours researching/searching for the perfect dehydrator-well, I found it. Ivation, large capacity, easy to program, simple to clean, well made and very durable. Attention jerky lovers: The temperature goes as high as 167* which makes it beyond safe when dehydrating meats and 10 racks will dry a lot of jerky!! You set the temp/time to wherever you desire. Comes with a drip tray on the bottom. I can load this unit up and dry a lot of food items. *I bought inexpensive silicone sheets to cover the racks and then pour pureed fruits to make fruit leather-both fast and amazing! This unit is large and it is heavy, sturdy and solid.I also like the glass window to peek inside. Perfect for someone who really uses a dehydrator to it's fullest extent. This IS a workhorse. Again, very easy to clean. I have only had it for a month, yet I have used it quite a lot and I highly recommend this if you do not want a small low power plastic unit. Speaking of power-this machine has 1000w. Stop agonizing (like I did) over which unit to buy-this is the dream machine: Ivation. P.S. Does not come with a recipe book, no big deal as recipes are all over the internet. You tube is amazing.

Great dehydrator. Worth the extra money. Changed my review to one star as the dehydrator died at 362 days old. It was very carefully taken care of, no obstruction to the fan and connected to a surge protector. It just died. The sellar dbroth has not responded to my emails. It fits within the warranty period as it died August 9th, but not shipped until August 12th.

This is the time i need the dehydrator the most since i am harvesting massive amounts of peppers herbs and tomatoes right now.

The manufacturer honored the warranty and is sending me a replacement.

The seller is still not said a word.

I am honestly very upset as I searched for a dehydrator that would meet food safety when making beef jerky. It says it should get up to 167 and I have used it 3 times now on fruits and vegetables and it has never gotten to temp. I am contemplating returning it but it's so large it would be hard to send back.

This DH seems well made and the racks are a nice stainless steel. The box was well packaged and arrived earlier than expected. It has worked well so far. A couple things to note....the racks seem not to fit right. They only go in one way and once you close the door they are fine. It seems like they push against the fan guard at the back of the machine but apparently this works.

We've used this only a couple of times thus far. Ours has no rattles, only less-than-moderate fan noise, but enough that I'm glad we can keep it in the garage. Trays fit snuggly and clean easily. Love the basic time and temp control system. We've only done our orchard's apples so far, and they leave virtually no residuals.

April 2020 update: this continues to be a very nice unit that we're quite pleased with. Recently used some grass-fed beef (which does not make great burgers btw, perhaps because it's too lean) and a "Judge" jerky gun to make some jerky, which we've never done before. Great!

Amazon Customer : This product FAILED less than a month into use -- I would NEVER buy this again.

Claimed to be a commercial grade product -- and it failed to operate less than a month into use. Product support is non-existent over 48 hours after being notified by both voice mail and email. I would rate it with zero stars if I was allowed. Buyer beware.

Thoroughly enjoying my Ivation dehydrator. I've made countless batches of beef jerky, zucchini chips, died fruits, etc. Everything has turned out great. The temperature stays surprisingly stable and it's accurate to a few degrees according to my thermometer probes I put inside the unit. Overall, I'm very satisfied and would highly recommend.

Bought the cheapies before but this is the best I've ever seen before, you set the time you set the temp and forget it. When you come back its done , made my first batch of jerky and that what the Kids wanted for dinner. This weekend going to try some dried onions, tomatoes, and celery (where for some reason we never seem to finish our celery before it goes bad. Having so much fun thinking of different ways to use it.

Love it! I'm new to dehydrating and was surprised to find that it reaches temperatures over 167 degrees. I dehydrate meats for jerky & dog treats. I was concerned about safe temperatures since I don't use salts to cure dog treats. When I put a probe in to check air temperature found it would reach 175 degrees. Saves extra time in oven for safety.
