Questions about Oklahoma Joe's 19202089 Barrel Drum Smoker, Black
Q:
It shows to be an Oklahoma joe product but just wondering why it's listed under charbroil, thx in advance
Answer: Charboil bought Oklahoma Joes out
Answer: I suppose they are a large dealer - bought mine there - everything legit - love my OKJ Bronco
Q:
Is it possible to cook with wood chunks only, or is charcoal required? Thanks
Answer: Yes, you can cook with whatever you want - charcoal briquets, charcoal lump, wood chunks. You can even put small logs in it if you want. Or use any combination. For long cooks, the briquets last longest though, they burn slower. You can also get an oversized aftermarket charcoal basket which will cook all night and all day if you want.
Answer: I used wood chunks and charcoal.
Answer: You can use both wood and charcoal
Q:
Can you use lump charcoal in this smoker? All I have seen is people using briquettes.
Answer: For the best results we recommend using charcoal briquettes. Give us a call at 1-866-239-6777 and we will be happy to provide more details on this Bronco Smoker.
Answer: Absolutely! That’s all I use is lump charcoal. Burns cleaner and longer with less ash. I’ve also found it much easier to control temps over briquettes. Don’t get me wrong, I use briquettes at times but have found lump works best in my Bronco.
Q:
How do you tend the fire with food on the grill?
Answer: The cooking grate and heat deflector can be lifted out to tend the fire accordingly. This Bronco Smoker is able to hold eight pounds of charcoal to allow for up to 10 hours of smoking time. Give us a call at 1-866-239-6777 for more information.
Answer: The idea with this smoker is you don't have to tend to the fire. You can if you want but it's usually not necessary. You deliberately place more charcoal than you need. When the food is ready, close the vents, the fire goes out, and the unused charcoal can be used next time. The lack of a door means there's no leaks! It's air tight and moisture tight. If you must get in there, the side rack is large enough to hold the cooking grate.
Q:
what is the title of nicholas Sparks newest book?
Q:
Where is this made?
Answer: Oklahoma
Q:
what is diameter & can smoke a full size turkey
Answer: 22 inches and up to a 16 lb turkey
Answer: The regular Oklahoma Joe bronco is 18-in diameter The Oklahoma Joe pro model bronco is 22 in in diameter
Q:
What is the diameter of the grate? How big of a brisket can you lay flat on it?
Answer: The cooking grate in this Bronco has a 18.37" diameter.
Q:
can you grill on it?
Answer: I do, just set the charcoal on the heat shield, you'll see when ya get there,
Answer: Yes you can do most anything you can think of with it and the food is tasty.
Answer: Absolutely. Watch a few videos to see how.
Q:
Hello, I have read and seen videos talking about this unit having a defect in the air intake pipe. What is the status of that defect being addressed?
Answer: They Have fixed the issue, bought mine in April.
Q:
How much assembly is required?
Answer: Requires complete assembly, delivery box id fairly small but quite heavy
Answer: Didn't had the chance yet to assemble, will keep you posted in future
Q:
(question to seller ) Hello what are the dimensions of the actual packing box ?
Q:
What's the difference between the 2089 and the 2100?
Answer: The main difference is the size. The Bronco Pro measures 28.75" x 48" x 40" and the Bronco measures 25.4" x 43.3" x 30.3". The Bronco Pro has a 21.5" cooking surface and is able to hold enough fuel for over 15 hours of smoking time. The Bronco has an 18" cooking surface and is able to hold enough fuel for over 10 hours of smoking time. Both of these are fantastic smokers. Not to mention the color between them.
Q:
How long are the hooks that come with it
Answer: 4”
Q:
What gauge of steel is used to account for the weight of the char-broil 19202089 barrel drum smoker?
Answer: Just finished assembly of the unit, very solid (had one small problem). The pretty sure manufacturer should give the gage of steel. It is nice unit
Answer: It’s 1/8 inch steel plate
Q:
Is there a water pan
Q:
Why is this almost $1,000 its 299.00 every where else?
Answer: Not sure but it’s definitely not a $1000 smoker. I spent around $175 for it on sale and I’d highly recommend it even at $299. It’s heavy duty, holds heat very well and is versatile. My only issue was that it took a few cools to get the thermometer to calibrate properly. Pull the trigger - $299 is still a great price for a great smoker (spring for the meat hooks and extra hangers if you can and you won’t regret it.)
Q:
What would be the grill size for if you want to add another one in the second layer, just above the deflector?
Q:
What is the inside diámeter?????
Q:
Cual es el diámetro?
Q:
What rain cover is made for this smoker? (char-broil 19202089 barrel drum smoker)
Answer: The cover is saw on amazon specifically for the Oklahoma joe smoker drum was around $50. I elected to get the SunPatio 2 Burner Gas Grill Cover 32 inch (I keep the side table attachment connected so it covers the entire piece well) and it worked great and was under $25 with tax. I’d recommend any 32” grill cover to you if you want to save some $.
Answer: Oklahoma Joes Cover 8788124P04
Answer: Oklahoma Joe carries a cover for that grill
Q:
You have to take everything out to add more charcoal?
Answer: Yes but, the charcoal pan is large enough that I got a 14hr. smoke on one load at 250 degrees pulled pork. I set each piece of coal on its side all the way around covering the pan then started a second row on top. I love that smoke. I had 3 others, none of them came close to Joes.
Answer:
Answer: If you add the right amount of Charcoal to your Oklahoma joe it will burn for up to 6to8 hours and it can maintain good temperature
Answer: Yes, but if packed pretty good, you can get 8-9 hours with charcoal briquettes.
Answer: Yes you have to remove anything above the charcoal bucket. However that is not a big problem at all for me and since the smoker will hold a constant temperature for 5 hours or more it's not something you should have to do very often.
Answer: Yes, you are good for about 10 hours only. This is the only drawback to this smoker.
Answer: yes
Q:
You can use it as a charcoal grill to bbq
Answer: Yes I have used it to slow cook and grill changing from smoker to grill with the same coals
Answer: absolutely - do that frequently
Product reviews of Oklahoma Joe's 19202089 Barrel Drum Smoker, Black
Mark A. Getz : Decent smoker, customer service sucks
The smoker itself works pretty good. Held a steady temperature throughout a 10 hour cook. Only problem I had was with the temperature gage. It was a full 80° off from a probe I had on the grate. I called customer service and they blew me off. Telling me it was working fine. She told me temperatures will vary between the grate and the side gauge. Really??? They were only 2 inches apart, and 80° difference. Anyway, the smoker works fine, but you’ll have to dish out money for a temperature probe to accurately control the temp. And don’t bother with customer service, because they suck!
lambflirta : My first smoker after some serious research
My friends and family push Traeger (duh) but I didn't have all the room. Plus, I have a nice Weber grill and wanted something to compliment it.
I picked this for the dual cooking aspect. Again, I have looked up smokers and knew what to look for. Though there is a problem with the air intake stack, the fine folks at Char-broil are super quick to send out a replacement. Look this up, it is a known issue.
Secondly, I wanted to get back to charcoal grilling. There is a difference, plain and simple. OKJ does this for me, too. You literally lift out the heat diffuser, remove the charcoal basket, flip over the heat diffuser then put the charcoal basket on top. Finally and obviously, you put the grill back on top. Tah freakin' dah.
It's super simple to put together. You are literally building it upside down then turning right side up. It says you need 2 people to do that but you don't. Test it first without killing yourself.
Like I said, the only problem was the intake stack and they either fixed it in newer iterations or will replace once you register. So simple.
Totally recommend. Especially if you are new to this and have limited space. You can get the larger size too, btw. The thing looks like a beast!!!
Amazon Customer : Was concerned at first,
This is a great Smoker,
I was concerned at first that it would not be large enough for me to do big cuts of meat, but as you can see in the first weekend I put it to the test with 3 racks of ribs. I wrapped them in foil after letting them hang for 4 hrs and YES all 3 fit on the 18 in grate. Recommend that you get a second 18 in grill grate so that you can take advantage of the second level in the event that you plan on smoking more than 3 or up to 6 racks of ribs.
I have been using Lump Charcoal with it and not brickets, with a full charcoal basket this Smoker will cook all day.
Definitely a SPACE SAVER!
S. G. Risk : great smoker
I was about to get a 55-gal premade drum smoker then saw this one. I could tell by looking at the build that the design was well thought out. Oklahoma Joe makes good offsets and other smokers and for 299 vs 400-800+ I gave it a try. This is a great machine! It weighs 150 lb. Solid as a rock, does not leek smoke and uses very little fuel. The finished meats tell the tale. Easy to do 225*, easy to do 300* (275 is my favorite temp). I am glad it is #5 in my smoking stable. I think any serious pit master will enjoy using this drum.
michael r. cloaninger : EXCELLENT
I could not be more pleased! I have smoked several butts, slabs, and cooked an ENTIRE Thanksgiving dinner ( our oven went out that morning) on this grill not to mention several steaks, hot dogs, smoked and grilled chicken and salmon, you name we've cooked it on this grill! We have been using lump charcoal and have smoked butts for 12 hours (low and slow) without having to add charcoal. The temperature has been easy to maintain it has been such a pure joy to cook on this thing I will DEFINITELY purchase another for our vacation place!
Greg : Awesome little pit.
This is a great little pit. What I love about it, is it holds temperature. Whether you want 200,225,250. The cooking area is perfect for my family of 4. You can get quite a bit of food going on when you hang it. I have smoked brisket, baby back ribs, Kansas City ribs, chickens, Tri tip, and salmon. Everything has come out amazing. The only thing I would say in a negative way, is you only get about 10 hours of heat. But then again, most things can be done in that time period. Otherwise you have to pull everything apart, And reload it with charcoal.
Burnrub : Best Smoker in this price range
I've been smoking food for over twenty years. I've used offset smokers, water-pan bullet smokers, even my weber kettle. This thing beats them all... The metal on this is THICK and heavy which means it holds temp even when it's cold outside. Super efficient burning coals, can easily cook for 8hrs holding temps in a 5-7 degree range with ease. AND when your done cooking, just close the dampers and it snuffs out the coals almost immediately, so you can use them for your next cook! Cooked brisket on this beast and tastes as good as it does coming off my offset. Ribs come out great too (I usually flip them half-way through the cook). Pro-tips - a little wood goes a long way on this BBQ and get some digital thermometers.

Michael Amador : Worth every penny !
Absolutely love this smoker ! The temp is so easy to control and it holds the temp very well . I’ve unplugged my treager for good ! I’ve done brisket, chicken , ribs , tri tip and used it to grill steaks . Took my grilling and smoking to another level of taste . Worth every penny !
T. Davenport : An Awesome Smoker
I have fallen in love with this smoker. I have had another smoker that I paid more than twice what this one cost, but I have never been quite satisfied with it. I have been looking at this model now for a couple of years and I decided to go ahead and purchase it. Best investment I've made in years. This is a great grill. I was surprised at how heavy it was. My neighbor assembled the grill out of the box for me in about 45 minutes.
I have since cooked ribs and chicken on it a couple of times and the results were amazing. This will definitely be my go to grill. The Boston butts and briskets will be smoking in the very near future. I don't think you will be disappointed with this smoker. I did a lot of research before making my purchase I did not find anything near the quality of this smoker at the same price point.
