Do the containers work on model FM5480?
Answer: Hello, this is Mateusz from FoodSaver!
Answer: Yes we figured it out !
Q:
How do you know when all the air has been removed? Does the vacuum shut off?
Answer: The vacuum should shut off, and there is a little button in the lid that depresses as the air is pulled out. If you are having problems, make sure that the edge of the container has no food on it. If there is any residue, it will not seal. Also, I’ve noticed that these containers may lose their vacuum over time, (either in the fridge or freezer) and may have to be resealed.
Answer: Hello, this is Karolina from FoodSaver!
Answer: The machine goes from vacuum to seal automatically when all air is removed. Except in pulse mode.
Answer: Yes, additionally, you will notice a rubber "bump" that will fatten out after the air is sucked out. I LOVE these containers. I wish I would have ordered them earlier.

Q:
Can you use this with a vacuum machine with a tube or do you need their pump?
Q:
why does the air immediately go back in as soon as pump is disconnected in marinate mode? How does it marinate food when there is no vacuum?
harry houdini : A hairline crack in the lid prevents the container from holding a vacuum
The product was defective. I contacted the manufacturer, but they are not answering their support calls, and have not responded to the messages I have sent via their site.
Richard Beatty : Seems to work as intended. Still kind of new.

Alberto Gonzalez : Good, but overrated freshness
Good seal, stayed sealed for days until I oponed the bowl. However, the lasting freshness of the seal food I understand is a little bit overrated. I store an opened guacamole, sealed it and just after a couple of days it turned brown.
Jamie Dukus : Perfect!
Keeps veggies fresh longer!!
3v3L : Brand-name, relatively inexpensive for marinating fast
Works great with my Food Saver Elite accessory pump, has two settings for marinating and sealing, and a pop-down indicator for status. Dishwasher safe and all.
Richard Beatty : Seems to work as intended. Still kind of new.

Mario B. : Investing in these storage containers was WELL worth it!!!
These things function as described. And being able to remove the air using the FoodSaver system is a HUGE game changer in keeping refrigerated food (and dry pantry stored items) fresher longer AND protected from freezer burn SO much better than regular Tupperware style containers. My fresh fruits and vegetables stay fresh and last MUCH LONGER in these compared to ziplock bags, specialty “produce bags” and regular Tupperware. The extra money you spend on these containers is really offset by the savings you get from not throwing away hundreds of dollars in freezer burned meats and other food items. They are VERY sturdy (I’ve dropped them on both tile and wood floors several times and nothing chipped or broke. They are dishwasher and microwave safe. I really can’t say enough about these.
Ephesians 5 & 6 : Looks and capacity good
Very sturdy container with a good seal but the little rubber dimple never suction it down with my food saver machine. I had to hope that it was sealed for marinating. Wish it was a little bigger to to fit a salmon fillet or for chicken quarters.
Wildman : Doesn’t hold seal.
$40 for a plastic container. Junk. Will not hold seal.
Angel : Buyer beware, contacted company & CPSC. No cust. service #, obviously suction is 2 much. Be careful
So today for the first time ever I had to contact the CPSC (consumer product safety commission). I was marinating steaks in my new container that I was so excited to use. I connected the tube to my new marinate container, followed the instructions and set my food saver to marinate. I was standing in front of it waiting while talking to my oldest son waiting for it to finish, next thing I know I hear this explosion noise and I'm covered in marinade and plastic! My son yelled and ran over to me, the lid to the container broke and exploded! I've never been so scared in my life, I took a picture of the container right after it happened, and the second picture is what it looked like taken off the container and pieces gathered. I followed all the rules, they need to look into this and do a recall of the containers! It did not feel good being right in front when this happened, thank God I wear glasses! If you use the food saver system, and have these containers please please be careful. I've contacted the company and like I stated contacted the consumer product service commission... I'm waiting to hear back. This is the first time I've gotten to use it the only time I've used it as I just purchased this product. Thank God neither myself or my son was injured but it was a terrifying experience and I would hate for someone else to not be as lucky as I was. Steaks were not able to be saved ????.
*Update:Foodsaver has contacted me after I filed a report with the CPSC*
Rennis : Great suction
Great product works welll either the food saver
Alberto Gonzalez : Good, but overrated freshness

Amber Newcomb : Has to stay attached
My husband loves these. They have to stay attached to the food saver the whole time which if you are making alot takes alot of time. Wish it could be suctioned and taken off so you can do multiple containers. Other than that they are amazing products.
