Q:
can this machine be use to dry flowers?.
Answer: I would think so, but they will probably shrivel up and not look like themselves. Best to press flowers or hang bunches upside down to dry.
Answer: I dried chamomile flowers and did a great job. Lowest temperature set. I bought the silicone sheets otherwise so hard not to have material dropping through the racks.
Q:
What is the warrenty?
Answer: 1 Year Warranty
Q:
What is the noise level of the Pro 9 tray stainless steel version?
Answer: Quir
Answer: I have the plastic tray version and the only noise that I notice is when it is done it beeps 3 times. I love mine. I use it at least twice a month.
Answer: I find it very quiet for the type of appliance it it. It has a low hum that is only heard when you are in the room near it. You can’t hear it from other rooms.
Answer: It's very quiet, came make dog jerky with it we have had 3 others, and this dehydrator is the best
Answer: Very quiet

Answer: 17" wide, 16.5" tall, and 21" from front to back.
Q:
Is this the same unit as the Samson Silent 10 Tray Digital Dehydrator, just licensed under a different company?
Answer: No, the Samson Silent only goes to 158 degrees, which may not be a big deal unless you are dehydrating meats which you need about 165 degrees to do safely. The magic mill goes to 167 degrees. It looks identical though and I was wondering the same thing.
Answer: This unit will not reach 167. About 150 is all we got. This was measured with multiple thermometers, both analog and digital .
Answer: I've never used a Samson Silent so I have no idea.
Answer: I do t know but it works great.
Q:
Can the unit be run longer than 24 hours, e.g., by plugging into a temperature control loop?
Answer: Found this in the instruction booklet. Hope it helps. ATTENTION! Do not run the appliance for more than 24 hours in one single use. After 24 hours, unplug and let cool for at least 2 hours before operating again.
Answer: I ran this unit for several days drying my blueberries and my cherries. Sometimes at night I would shut it down while I slept just because. But it doesn't seem to overheat. The temperatures at which foods are dried are fairly low. 100 to 135 degrees.
Q:

Answer: No it doesn’t. I use one of the tray for it.
Answer: No it doesn’t. I just use the fruit roll trays that come with it as one
Q:
So how hot does this really get? it says 167, but my lem says 165 and i'm lucky to get it up to 130. any feedback on real temps on the inside?
Answer: If you’re making jerky only with machine. You have to drill out the thermal sensor and move it to outside rear of machine facing out. Just remove back screws unplug from front half. Then look inside at top. You’ll see 2 rivets. Just drill them out, and that will release temp sensor. Mount it to the back section facing outside oven being carful it clears the fan. Plug the wires back in, replace rear. I get 170degrees consistently.
Answer: Yes, the temp goes up to 167 degrees. Timer starts off at 10 minutes you can increase or decrease in 30 minute intervals. This is a great product, I use it twice a week.
Q:
what are the 9 different temperature settings
Answer: 1) heat for 5 seconds
Answer: They jump several temperatures at a time ending at 160-ish. Like groups of 5-7 degrees at a time starting about at 100. I do jerky at I think 167 (highest temp it goes) 10 lbs takes about 5-6 hours depending on how thick the cuts are.
Answer: It veries, dont be shy tp buy this product. This is my second dehydrator and is my favorite. The varied temps meets all my needs for herbs, meats for jerky to fruits. I seriously love it. I have had this product for three years now. It has been Great! Do it.
Q:
When will this be available again, I neeeed one in my life?!
Answer: you will need to keep looking
Q:
do the sides get hot?

Q:
where is the 10 tray commercial ss manufactured? What about parts?
Answer: I believe it’s made in china and branded by distributors. I have seen this Dehydrator with different names. I called the number on the warranty for parts. It’s a distributor, not magic mill.
Answer: Not sure where it is made But I have run about 70 - 80lbs of meat (jerky) through it and it works Great. Have had several different brands and all had plastic that didn't hold up. This one looks like it will be around a long time PLUS it is very quite. Primary reason I bought this one was because it is all Stainless steel. So far SO GOOD.
Q:
Why is this replacing the 10 tray model and im seeing bad reviews?
Q:
Does it come with instructions or pamphlet?
Answer: Yes it does. I have had mine almost a year and love it. I use it at least 3-4 times a month primarily for jerky (Beef deer, fish, elk). Love the fact that it is all stainless steel and easy to clean up after each use. I do spray the racks with PAM helps in cleaning them after words. Grandkids use it to dry bananas, strawberries and other fruit. They haven't even seen the instructions, Super simple to use. Good Luck.

Q:
How many kg jerky its do it by 24 hours?
Answer: I marinate 6 lbs jerky and it fills the 9 trays and it yields about 2.5/3.0 lbs in 6 hours!Tip,flip after 3 hours!
Answer: My beef jerky took just over 4 hours. I had all of the racks filled however left plenty of room for air circulation. It was wonderful. Going to do pork jerky soon.
Q:
What is the shelf life of the dehydrated food?
Answer: That depends on a lot of variables: the kind of food, how dehydrated it is, and how it's stored. Fruit leather can last up to a month at room temp, or a year if rolled tightly and frozen. Dried meat might last up to two weeks at room temp, or a year in the freezer. You can google eat-by dates for whatever food you want to dehydrate.

Answer: Here is what I found on the hydration in question. With its 52 pounds and 22.25 inches in width, 23.75 inches in length and 19’’ height you know it’s not the small device and that can store a lot of food for dehydrating. I hope this helps you.

Answer: 110Volt
Q:
Are these stackable?
Answer: The Magic Mill is one rectangular unit with 9 racks or trays that each slide into a shelf. The trays are comparable to the separate containers for other dehydrators that stack such as the Nesco dehydrators. The nice thing about the Magic Mill is that you can remove the cover and have access to all of the trays (rather than having to un-stack all the layers).
Answer: Yes
Q:
Where is this manufactured ?
Answer: Not sure but mine works perfect and has for over a year.
Q:
is it working with 220 volt? If not how can I solve this problem in the product?
Answer: The product is configured for 120 Volt AC and cannot be rewired without voiding the warranty if even possible. If you contact the manufacturer directly, they may have a 220 volt version.
Answer: No be careful it will blow up. You need a proper electricity converter. I didn't have a good one so I had to return mine.
Q:
Shut off automatically?
Answer: I set the time and temperature and the machine shuts off automatically. This dehydrator goes up to 24 hours, but I often will add time later whenever I check the dryness of the food. I enjoyed the dependability of this dehydrator all summer and fall last year.
Answer: Hell, yes, it does. Mine shut off automatically after 5 seconds. It never started up again, though.
Answer: Yes, it shuts off when whatever time you set it to runs out.
Answer: Yes, when you set the timer, it will shut off.
Answer: Yes it does. You set both time and temp to your recipe. Super easy.
Answer: Yes, when the timer expires.
Q:
How long does it take to make Fruit leather?
Answer: That would depend on how dry you want them, how much water (juice) is in fruit, and how many pounds you put in the machine.
Answer: I find that it takes about 6 hours or so. What I love about this dehydrator is that I can set the timer for about that time, go to bed, and let it do it’s thing. In the morning if it is not quite done, I turn it back on for an hour or two.
Answer: Where is this product made?
Q:
is the door plastic or glass?
Answer: The door is plastic very well made. The door is not like in the picture. There are no hinders it slides up and off. I’ve been using it at least 4 times a week. It’s great high quality

Product reviews of Magic Mill Food Dehydrator Machine | 11 Stainless Steel Trays | Adjustable Timer and Temperature Control | Jerky, Herb, Meat, Beef, Fruits and Vegetables Dryer | Safety Over Heat Protection
Firefly : Nice big dehydrator. And it is quiet also
Love this dehydrator. Very quiet. I was surprised by how quiet it is when running and end up using it inside the house instead of garage.
This is a good size if you dehydrate a lot of things at once. With 10 trays and large square area for each tray, this one can fit a lot of stuffs at once.
And the recipe book that it comes with got me to try things I wasn't planing to make. I end up making some fruit leather and tips from the book is very useful. We end up with lots of yummy fruit leather. The only down side is they are too yummy that they don't last. They were eaten as fast as they are made....So good thing that this is a big dehydrator and I can make more each time.
Unfortunately after I got it, they don't seems to have the 10 tray model any more. I hope they will have this one coming back. Because all my friends are asking which one I use.
jeff schulze : Works quicker and every bit as good as expected
My first purchase ever of a dehydrater. I bought the dehydrator Bible with it and have gotten started vacuuum packing dryed vegetables and putting them away for a later day or a hurricane or power outage. Works quicker and every bit as good as expected. Excellent purchase.
Nana213 : Great machine
Love this dehydrator. I’ve been dehydrating fruits & vegetables 4-5 days a week... ever since it’s arrival.
cindy holden : Good temp control
Very versatile, includes all the parts needed for multiple types of dehydration. Fan ensures even heat distribution.
Jason Adkins : Started off very bad
When I took the dehydrator out of the Box and set it on the counter the very 1st stickers that I see are on the display and the logo. It says to remove the stickers from the display and the logo before using.. I did as it said and removed both of the stickers but the glue on the film over the logo stayed on stayed on the machine.. I went to wipe it off with my thumb and the very thin metal that the logo is made of came off the machine and cut my thumb to the bone. I have tried to call the company but have had no luck getting through to anyone.. I sent them an email but they have not responded.
Amazon Customer : disappointed
was excited about this but it doesn't heat up- it has been 131 for 4 hours and pieces of the broccoli are cold? How is that? Fan feels weak. My other machine is a beast compared to this with a very powerful fan.
also low stars for misleading product- it states in the Amazon that there is no need to rotate but yet in the manual it says to rotate. This is a constant issue with Amazon however.
noise level is amazing but my guess is because it isnt powerful
it is a beautiful solid machine but just not good, or I got a weak one. Just seems like an oven with a lil fan. Sooo disappointed
christina : Definitely 5 stars
Best purchase I've ever made. Made 8 lbs of deer jerky at the same time. Cooked evenly throughout every tray. Well worth it
KevinK : Heats up quickly, easy to use.
Enjoyed making jerky. Very good air flow and heats up nicely. Used other types of dehydrators that took 14+ hours to dry venison into jerky. I was caught off guard when my Magic Mill Commercial pro Xl Stainless Steel only took 5 1/2 hours. Plus having 10 food rack holds more product than I am accustomed to making. I can hardly wait until the apples and pears ripen next year. Having access to an orchard will be a true test of the unit. So far I have enjoyed using my Magic Mill Commercial pro Xl Stainless Steel 10 tray dehydrator.
Susan : Quite and holds a lot at a time.
So quiet compared to the Nesco unit I was using.
Great for serious dehydrating. Unit is big, with handles on side.
JChelmo : This stainless dehydrator is super quiet and easy to use. Love the timer for automatic shut off.
Love this dehydrator! Is is quieter than expected! Love the window door and the timer for automatic shut off.
David. k : Unit is well built, and looks great.
We have not been able to really dehydrate a large batch . We did make a small batch of jerky. Worked great. We are very pleased.
Ren : Issue with temperature presets.
It displays well & is quiet, but the temperature control is has very odd random temp presets. It goes from 135F to 154F, & 104F to 114F. It would be better if the temperature settings were in increments of 5 like every other appliance with a temperature control.
John Marshall : Great dehydrator
We've only had this for a couple of weeks, but have run several batches of beef jerky for our dogs through it, and so far I'm impressed. Way easier to use than my old dehydrator, which was a pretty good one.
The 167 degree (maximum) setting yields about 160 degrees inside (per my pyrometer), which is satisfactory for meat.
The only problem is that the prominent lettering on the name label in the front is upside down, which we find amusing. But it works fine so far.
RDouglas : Almost a nice machine
This machine works sort of, the temperature control jumps 10 or 20 every time you push the button so its impossible to get the precise temperature that you want. It's also about a third slower to dry than my old Nesco. Otherwise the space is great and easy to access. Would be a 5 star if you could actually set the temperature that you want.
christina : Definitely 5 stars
Best purchase I've ever made. Made 8 lbs of deer jerky at the same time. Cooked evenly throughout every tray. Well worth it
Tg : returned
returned delivered broken all glass. I cut my fingers because I had to clean. very upsetting
Amazon Customer : Makes anything but scrambled eggs!
I've had this unit for 2 years and have dehydrated many varieties of hot pepper, tomato, and meat jerky. The results are fabulous, and the machine can be tweaked to your perfect specifications....temp, timing, process. What a great investment! This shipped with plenty of trays and screens to cycle through the wash, and keep the process going full time.
Jon : Nice
Absolutely love it. It works amazing.
Fred Fischer : Cant maintain tempurature.
would not reach advertised temperature of 167 degrees. This was important to making venison jerky to kill bacteria.
George : Best Food hydrator
We like it no problems with it does the job very quiet no problems at all to report at this time thank you
Ofone : An engineers take on extra features
As an engineer I like the design of this unit. Two design features not mentioned: 1) the shelves will stack in the bottom of the unit leaving 10.5 vertical inches open (see pic). The racks are just slightly non square so they can be turned 90 deg and then they will stack one on the other in the bottom. Why is this important.? Mortals have limited storage space. Off season it needs to have as small a storage footprint as possible. We can stack/pack the shelves in the bottom and put other objects in it. Also, I can use it as a bread proofer or a plate warmer without having to find a place to put all the racks. 2) The second feature is that the cabinet sides and top stay very cool. It turns out that the vent holes on the forward sides of the cabinet are not exhaust ports but inlets. This means the fan in the rear is drawing in some of its air from around the cabinet. This also means that what would have been lost heat (that you pay for) is recovered, an improvement in efficiency. This brings me to note that the exhaust air is actually escaping through the designed gap around the door (This is not a complaint, just an observation)
Other thoughts. This unit has 18 sq ft of rack space (awesome). I wish all the ads for all units listed 1) the total drying area, 2) An efficiency metric. (like pounds of dried apples or bananas per kilowatt hour - yes, I know other parameters need to be fixed) 3) time to dry the same “standard load” 4) a uniformity metric.
I believe a humidity control based design controlling percent recirculation vs pass through, could cut operating cost in half or more. While it's likely that saving could pay for itself for heavy users, the "green factor" could boost sales alone. I also think that more internal air movement (recirculation) would improve efficiency and drying time. If the pass though air were cut to nil, the unit could function as a more efficient warming cabinet.
I wish it had an off switch in the back. I don’t like the controls staying powered, lightning and power on time may take its toll.
An inner cabinet light would be nice. While it's not critical for a dehydrator, the temperature swings above and below the set point a good bit. (Set at 95F, measured: 93 to 109) ( likely why the measured temp is not displayed) If the control was short cycle interval (via a triac – think zero crossing switching) the temp would be very stable. BTW, it is likely the temps would swing less at higher temp settings but I didn't measure it. Oh, I found the unit takes 10s of minutes to creep up to the 167F setting (even unloaded) but it did eventually get there, (I read more like 170 plus). For the nerds, I found it pulls a full 1000 watts when the heater is on, and at 95F averages about 340 Watts (I haven't measured at other settings :-/.
I encourage a buyer to walk around their house and figure out where you’re going to use it and store it. Ours will live on top of the "udder" fridge (where we kept the milk) so front controls were a must.
Now, I got that off my chest and I feel better now ????
Cathy Stahel : For large amounts of jerky
Bought this dehydrator to make jerky. Have made 10 pds of teriyaki jerky and it came out delicious. The racks were very easy to clean afterwards. Love that it has it's own timer. Shuts off automatically when done. So far so good. Getting ready to make some more this weekend.
KevinK : Heats up quickly, easy to use.

Dave : Just doesn't work
I bought the MagicMill Pro XL with the hope that it would be top of the line for food dehydration. It was large, metal with metal trays, and expensive. 2 Weeks after i received the unit, it just quit. It would not turn on, the fan would not work, it would not heat. Amazon was excellent and sent out a replacement right away. Even though returning the large unit was a hassle..I thought we were good. 4 weeks after receiving the replacement, the heater quit working. The fan and timer run, just no heat. I sent the manufacturer an email and received no reply at all. Amazon is going above and beyond and letting me return for a refund. Very sorry I wasted my time and money on this item.
Tg : returned
returned delivered broken all glass. I cut my fingers because I had to clean. very upsetting
Brian M Archie : I love my dehydrator
Best jerky dryer ever
Yeandrys Iglesias : Quality of item , result of the cooking
No Exaggeration my kitchen is a $40k kitchen build and accessories and I think this is the best money I have spend online.
Buys Too Much Stuff : Not a commercial-quality product, ‘worked’ for 5 seconds
Arrived pre-dented but the box was fine. Guess the factory decided to kick it around a bit.
The listing calls this a ‘Commercial Food Dehydrator’ but the manual states (in capital letters) that the product is for domestic use only and is not a commercial product.
Despite the product having a fraudulent listing, and despite the fact that the product was cosmetically damaged, I tried to use it. About 5 seconds after turning it on, the dehydrator turned itself off and would not restart.
Returned.
Itsjustb : Cheap ass made in China crap stops working
This cheap made in China junk stopped working after a few uses. It gets power but lcd and control panel don’t come on. It just doesn’t work. Don’t waste your money. You’re better off saving the money and sundry if your produce. The company has been impossible to get ahold of, repair tips/instructions/manuals/parts are impossible to find. Don’t waste your money on this junk. I’m back to using the $80 dehydrator I bought at good will for $8 over 10 years ago that still works. Do not waste your money. It’ll work fine 5 or 6 times then you’ll be screwed.
George : Best Food hydrator
We like it no problems with it does the job very quiet no problems at all to report at this time thank you
S. Ali : Great equipment
It’s a great unit. I have 2 of them. I like it a lot.
KMC Artworks : FANTASTIC
Bought this dehydrator to start making homemade fruit snacks and basic food preservation. I got to say I’m really impressed! Not only is it quiet but it is super easy to use. This being my first dehydrator I was concerned about over doing it or not using it correctly but it’s surprisingly simple. The preset temps help a bunch and in the recipe book it came with there is a really good general key for cooking common foods. Yesterday we sliced up some bananas that were getting a bit too ripe and made banana chips about an hour before they were fully done we drizzled honey on them and a touch of cinnamon. Absolutely fantastic and make my home smell delicious! 10 out of 10 recommend!
Loene Kiesel : It's a very nice dehydrator.
It arrived on time . It is easy to clean, runs really well, dries well, it has done well with everything I have done in it.
Stephanie : Works well so far!
I bought this machine in January 2018. I have used it twice. It seems like a well made machine; It works well so far. The only thing wrong is the door came lopsided. It seems to close just fine so I think I'll live with it. That is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.
L Clasby : Units do NOT Heat up
I have purchased two of these units within the past 60 days. The first one worked well, for about a week. It never reached the described 167 degrees, however it did reach about 150; which is adequate (barely) for my needs. I decided to purchase a second, BUT it would not go over 115 degrees, right out of the box. Will have to return both and seek a better solution... It's too bad, as the quality of the cabinet and the sq. footage of drying space, for the money, is one of the better buys. I wish there was a way to contact the seller
David. k : Unit is well built, and looks great.
We have not been able to really dehydrate a large batch . We did make a small batch of jerky. Worked great. We are very pleased.
MP : Very nice dehydrator!
Made my first batch of ground venison jerky and it worked out perfectly. Temp was good, didn’t have to rotate racks at all during the process. At this early stage I am 100% satisfied.
Jane Mays : Dehydrator
Very nice appliance....dehydrating is a snap ..highly recommended
Kindle Customer : Great purchase
Looks great, ample space for food (12 trays), easy to control,, and whisper quiet. One week and I have dehydrated everything in sight
J. Rillo : Dries evenly! I love this machine!
This is an amazing product for the price. I dehydrate about 10 lbs of beef jerky a week. I used 2 round dehydrators and I would have to rotate them to get them to dry evenly. This product dries the perfect everytime. I have the meat cut at a little above 1/4" and it dries in 5 hours. Drying times differ depending on the thickness of the meat.
Pros
- dries evenly/no rotation needed
- timer and auto shut off
Cons (but nothing crazy)
- highest temp says 167 degrees, but it is really about 158 degrees
- says it can hold 13 lbs of meat, but I was able to get about 10 lbs
For the price, this is an amazing buy!
Amazon Customer : DO NOT PURCHASE THIS SCAM!
DO NOT PURCHASE! SCAM! Came without trays and attachments. Useless without them. Unprofessional and a likely scam.
UPDATE: Contacted customer support and they hung up on me.
Amazon Customer : Great dehydrator.
This is a great dehydrator and easy to use. Only drawback is the racks are a little hard to clean due to the type of wire used. They are built sturdy and should last a long time, which is what we wanted.
Amazon Customer : Excellent dehydrator
I've only had the dryer for less than a week but it's been running pretty much non-stop. I've dried a variety of stuff including meat, veggies, fruit, and pasta. No problems so far. Although the temperature settings increment in jumps of 9 degrees, it's no big deal. Drying temperature is an approximation anyway.
The only comment I have is that it comes with only 5 non-porous tray liners. The unit has 11 trays; and it comes with 11 porous tray liners. Why not 11 non-porous ones?
R Thompson : Do Not Buy This Machine!!!!!
I purchased this machine for $270 in October 2019 and it is NOT usable as a dehydrator. The temp control does not work! My original return time expired with Amazon because I was led to believe that I was not using properly. Now, of course, it apparently cannot be returned. Today, I attempted to use it again as a proof box, since it will not dehydrate. That doesnt work either.
Fred Fischer : Cant maintain tempurature.
would not reach advertised temperature of 167 degrees. This was important to making venison jerky to kill bacteria.
Lonnie Smith : Being able to adjust temp is awesome. Much better than my old round stacked dehydrator.
So far have dried strawberries and some herbs. Very happy with it. The temp is adjustable but it jumps several degrees at a time. Would be perfect if I could dial in the temp I would like exactly but I still wouldn't trade it.
FRANK CABODIE : Very nice and unit as advertised
I have used it three times to make jerky and it seems to work very well so far. The temperature is consistent throughout, no need to move trays around. Easy to clean, easy to operate.
Eric H. : decided on the Magic Mill Pro XI because I like the stainless steel cabinet and 10 wire trays
Updates: it has been almost a year and have use this unit about 10 times at most and it quit working. Left the meat in for 9 hrs and did not dry at all. Run it for another 9 hrs same result. Unfortunately the 1yr warranty runs out in a few days.
******
It was between a the excaliber 9 trays and the Magic Mill. After comparing the features, decided on the Magic Mill Pro XI because I like the stainless steel cabinet and 10 wire trays. Cost a bit more than the excaliber but it comes with a lot more extra accessories. This is a well built unit. It is heavier and is 1000W vs the excaliber 600W. Not sure how that translate to the electric bills. It has a electronic timer and temperature control, however I can only change the timer in 30mins increment and temperature in 9-10 degree increment. Not sure if that's the way it should be, not an issue for me. It runs pretty quiet. I used this for making pork jerky and it takes between 7-8 hours to get it to the leathery consistency i need before grilling. Will be trying beef jerky next. Had it for a week and so far very happy with it.
