Questions about FoodSaver 1-Quart Liquid Block Heat-Seal Bags, Clear
Q:
can these bags work well for soups and stews?
Answer: Yes they work great for both. I put left over soup and stew in them, then put them in the freezer to freeze. As soon as they are frozen I vacuum pack them. Freezing first prevents any liquid from being pulled into the vacuum unit. When I want to use them I thaw over night in the refrigerator and then throw them in a pot of water and simmer in the bag until hot. Works great.
Answer: Yes. Pour the stew/soup in a Foodsaver bag, place the bag in a bowl or something that won't allow it to spill and put it in the freezer for a while. Once the liquid is ice you can use your Foodsaver to seal it.
Answer: I doubt it. Made for limited amount of moisture coming up and soups, etc. would be too much unless they had been refrigerated first and therefore were thick and more pasty. Then it might work.
Q:
What are the dimensions of one bag, width and length - It can't be 2.2 x 4.1 x 8.6 inches as the Mfg. says?
Answer: 12 bags “1 quart” 8in. x 11in.
Answer: It’s been awhile since I bought the bags, I would never buy something that small- 8x11 sounds about right, as the other reviewer has stated. BTW- the Food Saver bags are awesome.
Answer: The bags are 8" x11".
Q:
Can these be washed out and re-used?
Answer: They definitely can be re-used. I wash with antibacterial soap then put over my paper towel holder to dry.
Answer: I've opened bags for food removal or addition and re-sealed, but have not attempted to wash and reuse.
Answer: I do not believe so just because of the moisture catching strip that is in them. Don't think it would work if you washed them out. You would just have to try it I guess.
Answer: I would say No, but honestly I haven't tried it. But, these are made with a material at the top to absorb any liquid that might be on whatever your freezing. I wouldn't want to cross-contaminate. When sealing something I'm going to be reusing, (taking a little out at a time) I use a larger bag so that after I cut it open I have room to seal it again. If cost is a problem, you could try the generic, or get the rolls where you make your own bags to fit your particular size requirements.
Answer: Yes they can. I have a friend that does this all the time, although I would not do it, but that's just my personal preference. The bags are pretty tough so they hold up well.
Answer: you can use for storage, they can't be re-sealed so limited storage also
Answer: Yes
Q:
Can these bags be used for fresh corn kernels off the cob?
Answer: Yes, the strip catches the corn juice this helps so the bag will seal, but I have had corn juice fill the whole strip, which made the bag difficult to seal so I folded up a paper towel and put it inside the bag to seal it.
Answer: They are perfect for corn. The liquid block is the best
Answer: I don't see why not. I love these bags. I use them for anything that has liquid-soups, meats, fish, etc. The absorbent strip keeps the liquid from coming out of the bag when the air is being sucked out. Less cleanup.
Answer: I’m sure they could be. I would try a single bag first. I don’t think they would get sucked out if you pull the bag taught before putting it in the sealer. Once the sealer clamps down it only has a small space to suck the air out or you could use seal only and not vacuum seal them.
Answer: I am sure they will work, but it would probably be better to save the whole corn cob.
Answer: why not they are used for all food items as far as i know
Answer: Yes will work perfectly fine.
Q:
Do you use the Wet or Dry function to seal these bags?
Answer: You can use both functions. but if you have the wet function on the sealer, you don't need to get this type of bags. I use these bags because I don't have the wet function.
Answer: You can use either function. Keep in mind the "moist" option on your FoodSaver will make your FoodSaver stay in "seal" mode and extra couple of seconds. It has no bearing on the vacuuming process nor is it able to seal thru extreme moisture.
Answer: I use these for freezing fresh fish so I always use the wet function.
Answer: Dry works best
Answer: I still use the "moist" setting with the liquid block.
Answer: both
Q:
Can I use these bags to marinade meats for sous vide cooking?
Answer: We do not recommend marinating meats in our bags as the vacuum process could draw liquid up into the vacuum sealer and compromise it. The separate marinator is a better option to marinade the meat vacuum sealing it. The liquid block is to prevent any small amount of liquid from compromising the FoodSaver.
Answer: I've never actually tried to use to marinate meat, but I don't think it would work very well. Too much liquid in the marinade. I have a container that is designed for marinade. It works great.
Answer: Yes, I put marinade even when I freeze meat. It makes it moist.
Answer: I would use regular food saver bags, the liquid block bag has a pad in them that absorbs liquid.
Answer: I have not tried it, but I don't see why not; although the seal is not as tight and may leak (?).
Q:
will these bags work for sealing corn?
Answer: Yes! These bags are great for storing fresh corn. Simply blanch, dry and seal to extend the life of your corn up to 5 times longer than traditional methods! Thank you!
Answer: I have used the bags for meats and chicken, etc., and the "block" keeps the liquid from leaking out when sealing the bag. I really like the Liquid Block bags.
Answer: Yes, I"ve used them to seal corn! I put a dry paper towel in the top to absorb the juice!
Answer: yes, don't overfill the bag.
Answer: I use them for fish, beef, pork, and chicken and they work fine. Corn shouldn't be a problem.
Answer: It will work if there is liquid. I find it great for meats, steak fish, etc., haven't tried it for vegetables
Answer: Yes they worked well for me
Answer: yes
Q:
Would this prevent a marinade from being sucked out?
Answer: It minimises the liquid from being sucked out. I place the vacuum sealer nearer the edge of the table, hence the bag is lowered, it helps greatly to further prevent the marinade from being sucked out while giving it a proper seal.
Answer: Our FoodSaver Liquid Block Bags are designed to absorb moisture coming from Fresh meats and seafood. For best results vacuum sealing marinade sauce we would recommend you use mason jars or FoodSaver containers.
Answer: No
Q:
Can you use these in the microwave like the microwavable Food Saver bags?
Answer: I have only used the defrost cycle so I don't really know how the bags stand up to cooking at full power. I personally don't like to microwave foods that are in plastic containers or bags.
Answer: Yes, if desire to microwave your food in the FoodSaver bag, cut the corner to allow steam to escape first. Thanks!
Answer: Yes, I have. I used my bags for freezing corn. I just poke the bag with a small hole to release some of the steam because the bag builds up with so much steam it looks like a balloon.
Answer: As far as I know, yes. I don't really do a lot of microwaving of stuff in the Foodsaver bags - I usually try to thaw things naturally.
Answer: I`m not sure really coz there isn`t air space it might pop I think.Do you know what I mean?
Q:
will these bags work for saurkraut?
Answer: I have used these bags for chicken stock so they should be good for sauerkraut. Just be sure to keep any liquid off the pad.
Answer: I think that would be TOO much liquid. Works with thawed meat, but sauerkraut is REALLY juicy.
Answer: Depending on the amount of moisture, you may get better results using the https://www.amazon.com/FoodSaver-Containers-4-Piece-Shatter-Resistant/dp/B01AJJ1WNA/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1470763718&sr=8-2&keywords=fresh+container
Answer: I believe so. I successfully use them for sauces. They work great on many products.
Q:
Is this one box or two of 12 bags? Ive ordered this same item for years always been 2,but now wouldn't surprise me to get one box at the same price
Answer: Hello, this Salumu from Foodsaver Care. Thank you for contacting us regarding our Foodsaver -1 Quart Liquid Block heat-seal bags FSFSBFLB216-000. This is one box of 12 bags.
Answer: Thank you for reaching out! Our FoodSaver 1-Quart Liquid Block Heat-Seal Bags, 12 Count has a 12 Bag count on every box. Hope this helps and always stay safe!
Answer: It's 1 box of 12. Mine has never been a double box order.
Answer: I porches this 4 years ago, so I am not sure. But I think it was one box. I found I could get the same results by folding a paper towel and placing it at the top of the bag.
Answer: One box with 12 bags
Answer: It is 1 box
Answer: It was just one box when I ordered.
Answer: When I got it there was 2 but it’s been some months now...
Answer: Mine was just 1 box
Q:
Will 1lb of ground meat fit in the quart sized bag with the liquid lock?
Answer: yes, I think it will. I put 1 lbs of cut-up chicken breast with marinade in one and it worked well
Answer: Yes, no problem.
Answer: probably
Answer: Absolutely
Answer: Yes it will.
Answer: Yes it should
Answer: yes
Q:
Does this bag work for powders, like flour?
Answer: No, I would not use it for flours or powder, the strip is just for catching liquids, use the cheaper bags for dry products. Actually since the seal a meal vacuums out air it would probably jam up the machine. I would put flour and powders in a container to freeze, not a bag in a seal a meal.
Answer: [5:38 PM] KOSCICKI, Mateusz
Answer: I don't think I would try it on flour, sugar, etc.
Answer: If you use seal only I guess you could. Obviously you couldn’t use the vacuum and seal setting!
Answer: i would think so
Q:
Do these work for freezing blanched broccoli or cauliflower (using regular bags despite long draining, still lots of liquid)?
Q:
Will these bags work with other brands of vacuum sealers? i have a cuisinart vs-100.
Answer: We recommend only using our vacuum sealers with our FoodSaver bags or rolls.
Answer: Yes they will. I have a VacMaster PRO260 and they work great.
Answer: I really do not know, sorry I could not be of more help.
Answer: No
Answer: No

Rebecca : FoodSaver bags are the best!
FoodSaver bags work awesome! That’s all we use.
Tommy McFarland : maybe I'm not doing it right.
I may not be using these right. I think what I want to do is just seal pre-frozen meats. It's difficult for me to get the proper size meat below the liquid barrier prior to sealing.
J nelson : Awesome
Love this bags!!! They have that moisture strip works great for fish!
Darren W. Lewandowski : Bags make a difference.
These bags do make a difference. As you know when trying to seal a product with some liquid in it, the food saver sucks out the air and anything else in the bag, such as the liquid. These bags with the liquid dam stops that from happening. Now you can seal up anything that has liquid in it with these bags.
