Questions about SteelShad - Bass Fishing Lures - Lipless Crankbait for Freshwater Fishing - Long Casting Shad Crankbait Perfect for Bass, Walleye, Trout - Original (3/8 oz)
Q:
How do you make the Steel Shad swim to your right as you reel in the lure?
Answer: Thank you for your interest in SteelShad. If you put a slight bend in the lure by bending the tail of the lure to the right at about a thirty degree angle, then the lure will work itself to the right as you retrieve the lure. If you bend the back of the lure to the left, then the lure will work to the left. You can also straighten back out the lure to return it to it's original action. Thank you for fishing SteelShad!
Q:
The steel shad lures that i have all have an o-ring in the second hole. what is the first hole used for & do you leave the o-ring in the second hole?
Answer: You can move the O ring to the first hole for a different presentation. We like to use the O ring in the first hole for casting the SteelShad in shallow water. We like to use the O ring in the second hole for jigging presentations and casting the SteelShad in deeper water. Either way the SteelShad will catch a variety of gamefish for you in many different depths and water conditions. Fish Just Bite It!!! Thank you for your support of SteelShad! - The SteelShad Fishing Company
Answer: If you use th first hole, it helps keep the lure out of weeds by picking up the head. Lots of success using this lure. I've caught striped bass in the ocean and many pan fish in lakes with it.
Q:
What size treble hook?
Answer: The SteelShad Original has VMC size 6 treble hooks.
Q:
Is the weight made of lead? We can no longer use lead in NH’s fresh waters
Answer: This lure, the SteelShad Original uses a lead weight. The SteelShad Elite Lure uses a tin weight for states where lead is an issue.
Answer: Not sure but good lure have caught multiple bass with these lures
Answer: It is made of a Tin alloy. I'm in N.H. as well. It is legal.
Q:
Is it shipped by amazon?
Answer: This item is currently shipped by SteelShad.
Q:
Is this good for rainbow Trout in a river? Or would the mini be better?
Answer: The mini would be better
Answer: It should do very well
Q:
How heavy / what is the weight of each lure?
Answer: Hello and thank you for considering SteelShad! To clarify, the weight of our original Crankbait lures is 3/8 oz with a length of 2 3/4 inches long. Hope this helps!
Answer: The Mini is 1/4 oz. Original is 3/4 oz.
Answer: They go from 1/4 to 3/4.
Q:
Can these lures catch sunfish?
Answer: The SteelShad Mini would be a better size for sunfish. You may catch an occasional sunfish on the SteelShad Original, but they are really targeted for larger fish.
Answer: You may be able to with small lures but there are way better lures to catch gills. A hook and waxwork I find the best as well as maggots and small spinner baits
Answer: They aren't ideal. Too big. Do a search for pan fish lures.
Answer: NO THEY ARE GOOD FOR MOST EVERYTHING BUT SUNFISH, BREAM ECT.
Answer: No
Q:
Do the lures float?
Answer: SteelShad does not float. The Original SteelShad runs between 3 to 6 feet deep with a moderate to fast retrieve and can be fished deeper with a slower retrieve or it can be jigged or slow-rolled near the bottom as well.
Answer: No they do not. They are similar to a spoon and flutter down if used vertically.
Answer: NO
Answer: No
Answer: no
Q:
Do they come bent or do you have to bend them yourself? And if you bend them then should I?
Answer: SteelShad Lures come straight (un-bent) in the package. If you wish to bend them to change the action, then you can make a 30 degree bend near the back of the lure, right around the second "S" in "SteelShad" printed on the lure. This will cause the lure to swim left or right and have an erratic action when falling. You can straighten the lure back out as well and it will fish straight again. Try fishing a bent SteelShad around docks or over weeds. Fish bite it!
Answer: They do not come bent. You would have to do that yourself. You can bend them or not when using. It depends on the depth you are to target and the fish. After you bend them you can ben them back to their original shape. I would assume that over time if you keep bending and unbending them that they will become weak and break, but I haven't had them long enough to reach that point.
Q:
Are steelshad lures made in usa?
Answer: SteelShad lures are designed in Florida and Vermont and tested around the USA, then made in Taiwan and shipped and distributed from Vermont.
Q:
How is this quality?
Answer: My husband has used the steel shad only a few times to catch bass but has only caught 1 with it. The bait itself is really nice. Its still in good shape, hasn't rusted and hooks havent bent or anything like that. It may be a good bait but I'm not sure its good for bass. Maybe better for other fish.
Q:
are rhere 5 lures in this set? what are the weights? Do the lures in this set varie?
Answer: This set includes 5 Original SteelShad (3/8 ounce) in five colors - Sexy shad, Kentucky shad, Tennessee shad, White shad and Yellow shad. All lures weigh 3/8 ounce each. These are five of our most popular SteelShad lures.
Answer: 5 lures in set 5different colors and weigh 3/8 oz.
Q:
Why does chrome tape keep coming off
Answer: That should not happen. SteelShad lures have a waterproof seal. If you experienced this, then your seal may have been damaged while shipping. Please contact us directly.
Q:

Answer: We fulfill our orders using Amazon FBA. If you inquire to Amazon they may be able to assist you. We do sometimes see orders delivered to Puerto Rico by Amazon. Another option is to review our website.
Q:
Why offer these lures if you do not send them to Puerto Rico and, to make it worst, do not offer any other sellers?
Q:
Do you sell a pkg of 3 or 5????
Answer: Yes, please search SteelShad 3 pack.
Q:
What country are these made in?
Answer: SteelShad Lures are made in Taiwan and shipped from Vermont.
Q:
Can you bend this lure and bend it back easily?

Great lure! Fast delivery.
Kasper : Great product, Great customer service.
Great product, Great customer service. Accidentally got to Sexy Shads instead of a Tennessee Shad, they are immediately sending me the TN SHAD and letting me keep the extra Sexy Shad. Highly recommended.
3/8oz is perfect size.
baldomero valdez : ????????
????????
Txbowhunter : Nice action
Nice action, haven't gotten a chance to catch any fish yet though.
tdsails : Good Search Bait.
Good search bait. This lure will cast a country mile, so you can cover a lot of water quickly. Once you have dialed in a little, it has the action to produce strikes. Have used in both salt and fresh water with good results.
Amazon Customer : AWESOME
I got a lot of bits and landed the most fish I got this year but got it snagged in the river, I will get another one but on a later date.
sproctor : Quality lure
Been using it for a few months now, It looks good in the water, has a good presentation. Haven't caught any fish on it yet but that's ok, may work better in the summer and it may be me, just need to find the proper presentation.
Debbie : Fish love them
I like to use lures over worms... my wife usually catches 10 fish for every one I catch. I keep up with her now, been catching smallmouth bass, rock bass, and perch in a local lake. Great lures.
Brandon sucks : The bass love it!
Great lure for bass fishing
Unbiased Reviews : Looks good on pictures but cheap shiny stickers dont stay on the lure
Awfull quality! Caught one small fish, but lure lasted exactly 5 min or 3 casts in saltwater before all shiny stickers came off the lure. Waste of money for the price.
Apw13 : Not used
No opinion
Landy : Must buy for your tackle box
Best lure for fall fishing. Catching smallie and largemouth every time out. I am spreading the word to help my friends enjoy the fun
Jeff C : Always on at least one pole.
I’ve caught largemouth, whites, wipers, crappie, walleye, and even several nice blue cats on the SteelShad. Maybe 1 in 10 casts using braided, the line gets wrapped around a hook, but this lure is worth that little bit of annoyance!
Paul Whitman : Trout were not impressed!
When you reel them in they come back on there side and in a circle so stay away from the weeds!
Fred haenisch : I use them like a jigging spoon when fish are deep and as ...
I don't know what it is about this lure that fish are so attracted to but they are. They flat catch fish, no two ways about it, especially when they are schooling. I use them like a jigging spoon when fish are deep and as a search bait when I need to cover water. I have just received the new colors and I am anxious to try them. You won't be disappointed if you use them.
richard b : Red steel catches it all
Great bait, fish love steel shad baits here.
Txbowhunter : Nice action
Nice action, haven't gotten a chance to catch any fish yet though.
K.J : Catches bass
Bought these lures after reading a bass book of “how to catch bass”. Went out and used them same day and caught a bass. Have caught 4 since using lures
Linny : They were great
They were cool really different
JOHN DIETRICH : Five Stars
LIKE IT BUT HAVN`T TRIED IT YET
Steve G : not worth the price
You could buy good old fashioned jigs with bucktail or marabou that will last longer, snag less and are more effective than these.Look far more attractive in the photo than in your hand. Will use until I lose. You also get more jigs for the money than just one of these.
Rob Mccormick : I didn't catch anything
I didn't catch anything but moss?
K. Be : Works for fresh water drum and white bass.
Second cast using a rip and fall technique and I good fresh water drum. Not bad... The lure is a keeper!
Skeeter : Great action
Lure casts well and has great action. Have not moved the snap ring to see how that will affect the action yet but will try that later. Caught only Jacks and Lady Fish so far but the lure seems to work well.
Kevin St Germain : Very nice lure
Bass seem to love this lure, smallmouth, largemouth and walleye hit them hard. Weighted to allow fishing the bottom.
Mike : No fissh
No fish
BSH : Very nice
I haven't had time to go fishing. I did go out and cast them a few times to see how they swim. They looked good to me and one bass.
sproctor : Quality lure

Fred haenisch : They are a really good search bait in open water
I have used these plugs for about six years now. They are a really good search bait in open water. One of the most effective ways to fish it, even though it is a cast and wind type of bait, is like a worm. Let it go to the bottom and drag and hop it. If they are around they will gobble it.
Matt Miller : Great for smallmouth
Bought this for a annual fishing trip and was very happy with its performance. Great for murky water conditions.
tdsails : Good Search Bait.
Good search bait. This lure will cast a country mile, so you can cover a lot of water quickly. Once you have dialed in a little, it has the action to produce strikes. Have used in both salt and fresh water with good results.
Drew Gidusko : Wuality
Just didn’t work. Had 2 other much better bass fishermen try them. Waste of money
Lewis : Five Stars
3 casts, first catch of the season.
Mike Corbishley : Steel Shad
Really impressed by the quality of these. Probably the most reliable blade bait I have fished!
Steve G : not worth the price

Seth B. : Just another fishing lure gimmick.
A waste of money.
K. Be : Works for fresh water drum and white bass.
Second cast using a rip and fall technique and I good fresh water drum. Not bad... The lure is a keeper!
Amazon Customer : Very realistic !
The steel shad has incredibly realistic action. Whether retrieving it fast or letting it die, it definitely entices fish to attack it. Will definitely be ordering a few more.
Kevin St Germain : Tight lines.... Great hookups
Great product, I use them for Smallmouth Bass, Largemouth Bass and Walleye. Very durable.
