What does size mean?

Answer: Size indicates the weight fly line the reel is made for and the weight rod that the reel should be matched with. A 3/4 size reel will handle 3 or 4 weight fly line and matches to a 3 or 4 weight fly rod.

Answer: Size corresponds to the line weight that the reel is designed for. 7/8 is designed for fly lines of those weights. Generally, fly reel is designed to hold 80-120 yards of backing line and about 100 feet of fly line.

Answer: Larger size for bigger fish. 3-4 is for small stream, 5-6 for lakes and rivers, etc

David B. : Nice design but question the spools mechanism that grabs the post on the reel

This came and looks and feels great and felt tight, good tolerances and well made. I looked at the manual on removing the spool, button release, simple enough. It was not a smooth easy process at first as I expected, the plastic button in the spool depressed and the spool came off, since putting it back on the spool has noticeable play. I examined it all and the reel seems tight but the spool I suspect has an bad mechanism or something. Awesome real, I suspect if you got one that was just right out of the box you would love it. Oh, and mine didn't free spin forward, at all.. maybe one rotation.. again, maybe just an isolated lemon?

I haven't had an opportunity to try it out yet so I can't give it a fair rating but from what I can see it looks like an excellent reel. The tolerances are very good, no spool wobble. It's a great looking reel and your delivery time was as promised, can't wait to get it on the water. Thank you
