Shimano Twin Power XD Spinning Fishing Reel

The Twin Power XD is developed for salt water spinning and made for ‘rough’ circumstances such as salt water, wind, dust, etc. Thanks to the new X Protect technology, the reel is suitable for these heavy conditions and even more waterproof than a reel with Coreprotect.

X-SHIP

X-Ship provides improved gear durability. By supporting the pinion gear on both ends with bearings, the pinion gear maintains precise alignment with the drive gear. This means the gears will stay in the same position under the heaviest loads. The added benefit is that friction between the spool shaft and gear are eliminated. This will enhance the casting performance of the reel with lighter lures, and allow for longer casts.

X-PROTECT

By combining our water repellent coating and our specially designed, water channeling, labyrinth construction, X Protect provides high-level water resistance without sacrificing light gear and rotor rotation.

Answer: Yes, it's a solid reel and can handle big fish

can this reel survive being dunked in saltwater ?

Answer: I have this reel myself where a few weeks ago I accidentally dunked the reel in saltwater for a few seconds.

Answer: With all the new added seals and the fact that they are mostly aluminium they hold up pretty gold in salt water... However I don't recommend you go fishing under water with it.

Answer: It’s a solid reel and I fish it with 30lb power pro. I wouldn’t shark fish it, but bigs reds are not a problem. I would go up one size for surf fishing
