Answer: i love it wish i could get a 50 but can't afford right now . but i would tell anyone the 40 is great to have if you're thinking of purchasing i would say yes !!!!

Answer: It's a good little reel. We're using it on our Charter boat and it gets heavy use and it's holding up well. We like the price.

Answer: Awesome reel. just bought it and already love it. been using a similar fin nor reel (8000 class) for surf fishing and when my penn fierce 2 (4000 class) broke, I bought this one. fin nor is a top notch brand. this product is superior. My only complaint is that the handle dosent fold up

Answer: It is light compared to metal ones but does not quite feel like a premium reel, in terms of build quality. The drag and casting performances are acceptable for the asking price.

First Impression:
I unboxed a size 60 moments ago. I first noticed it was lightweight. I screwed in the crank assembly and started working out the bailer to break in the auto-bailing system. I normally never use this but I plan to use the Megalite primarily to throw plugs into the surf and pier fish. I surf fish mostly so it's highly important for a reel to have corrosion resistance and a high tolerance for sand. Overall new out of box, I dropped lube on the bailer pivots and started breaking it in. I noticed there's a certain position (roller at 10 o'clock) that causes the bailer not to stay open. I'm assuming this is the rotational point the auto-bailer meets the bail lever. After 10 minutes, this went away and the bailer ran smooth. For those of you that don't know, this is most likely due to grease on the springs/levers. Since Fin Nor opts for a magnetic driven bailer, this innovation is amazingly robust. No springs, no spring failure. I am completely hooked on Fin-Nor.

I mounted it on a Penn Prevail 8'. I love the Prevail line. Inexpensive rods that perform like expensive ones. I have 3 now and I plan on only using Fin Nor and Prevails from here on out for all my saltwater spinning. Any negative reviews on the Prevail are from googans that don't take care of their stuff. Don't keep your line tight or tip on the ground when your store it and never launch more weight that the rod is rated for as hard as you can... you'll never break a rod or lose a guide if you follow those rules. I started out by putting 50lb braid on it. I opted for the rest of a 1200 yard spool left over from LT80 and LT100 reels and had enough to completely fill the ML60 plus 20 yards left over, in which I will use for backpacking repairs. I honestly felt like 50lb is overkill for this reel. I considered 30lb as the drag is 28lb max... so why the 50lb line? Simply because I already had it AND surf plugs aren't cheap. At around $15 per lure, I'd rather use something I feel more comfortable with knots basically as a piece of mind. I have a bad habit of trying to sling my terminal end out past the last sand bar on tide-out. This has cost me loads of lead from weakened line or knots. Mostly due to fluorocarbon leader knots snapping. I tie improved trilene knots on snaps and swivels and a triple surgeons knot for handshaking loops to my leaders.

As I started to reel on my line, I noticed the crank assembly doesn't feel like other Fin Nor reels I've tried/own. For a graphite body, this is a legit setup. The big misconception is graphite feels like plastic and plastic is associated with "cheap" feeling. My favorite fly reel is a scientic angler large arbor graphite reel. Don't remember the model but it will never corrode. And it's inexpensive. Graphite is such a great material. I use a graphite handle ball-ping hammer at work and it's tough. Not no wood pounding sissy crap, I'm talking hammer out seized bolts in giant water pumps, banging roll pins, and hammering old bearings off fly wheel shafts. I trust graphite. The action is smooth and so didn't have the shim the spool to get the line to wonder evenly.

I can't wait to go fishing. I'll be updating this review.
