Scorpion vs curado dc?

Answer: Scorpion Casts far better than the Curado DC and the unique "Zing" sound of the Scorpion is louder as well. I sold My Scorpion DC to get me the Curado DC and ended up selling the Curado to buy the Scorpion Back again!! LOL!! Also is smaller and lighter.

Answer: I like the scorpion, it's a bit smaller and casts better. I've landed snakehead to striped bass and have had no problems with.

Answer: No, it's too heavy to be considered bfs

Anyone have an opinion on how this reel has held up using in saltwater over time?

Answer: I have not used the Shimano Scorpion DC in saltwater to confirm yet but one of the main reasons I chose it was because its non-DC precursor held up pretty well fishing inshore saltwaters with proper use and maintanence. I expect the DC to do well too.

Answer: I’ve had my Scorpion almost 20 years! Still free spins with my newer casters...actually better than my Zillion. It’s not this model but with regular service and never dunking (you should never do), but if you’re reel goes in the drink(saltwater) take it directly to your Shimano tech and have them clean it out and service.

Answer: Branding saltwater/freshwater is a relatively new thing. I can remember as a kid (25yrs ago) getting new gear that wasn’t an issue. If you rinse your gear like you’re supposed to, it’ll last. The only time bearings need to be replaced is when they are bad and you’ll be able to hear the difference if that happens. Get you what you want and take care of it and you’ll have it just the same when you’re 60 and still slinging line!

I bought one to day but when I opened the side plate I couldn’t put it back on. Why?

Answer: Gotta have the dc brake setting on "open" to slide the plate back. Also theres a locking mechanism under the reel stating, "closed". Make sure you click it to close before you use it or else the slide plate is flying into the lake/pond/stream.

Answer: I wouldn’t recommend it unless you want to clean it after every use.

Answer: You can but you will have to clean the reel frequently or else salt will mess up your brakes.

Answer: You would have to send it to shimano japan for service. It is very similar to the curado dc, so you can do the cleaning and service on it yourself also.

Love this reel!! Very smooth, can throw in the wind with some practice. Difficult to flip with, likely a skill issue with me. Easily makes long casts. Have had it a few months, 8lb flouro, throwing a fluke, perfect reel for this.

First day it arrived, I spoiled it with 10lb nylon (mono) on a 6'8" medium rod and tied on a red eye shad lure. First impression, smooth retrieval, decently long casting and that beautiful noise it makes is heavenly. I couldn't set it down to cast any other rod and reel set as it's becoming my favorite reel in my collection. Got both the 13Metanium and the MGL Met plus some other JDM reels and by far this one outshines them. Not feeling the color scheme but that's just personal preference. Up next on my collection will be the DC version of the Metanium...

北海道ロックフィッシュ : 今までのブレーキと同じ使用感ではない

タイトル通り遠心やマグネットブレーキとは全く違う印象です。
これは悪い評価ではなく良い方の意味で

最初は今まで使用していたリールと同様にキャスティングしていましたが
その状態では飛びは実感できないと思います

これはバックラッシュするかな…
くらいの気持ちでキャストしていけば距離は格段に伸びました。
DCの恩恵をできるだけ受けられるようにするのがコツかなと感じました！

他の方が書かれていましたが前後半の伸び
特に後半の伸びはは実感が大きかったです。

軽いルアーも投げられはしますがお勧めは14g以上ですね

This thing is easily the best reel I've ever owned and I've owned quite a few shimano (more expensive) reels in my lifetime.

I hardly ever get any backlashes or over-runs due to the DC tech in it. If you want your reel to stand out or if you want one very few Anglers local to you will own, this is the one to get. The price point is perfect for what you're getting.

Lightweight & compact. Smooth reeling. Deducted 1 star because instructions are entirely printed in Japanese......so you'll have to watch an online demo as to how to disassemble , set up, add line and adjust.
I sent a message ( through Amazon Marketplace) to the vendor asking if the instructions come in English.They IMMEDIATELY responded sending me a PDF file of the instructions printed in Japanese, saying they would be most happy to assist me in translation if I would inform them which parts. I actually need ALL parts and thought maybe this service was available online to translate. Sure enough, I found Goo--- Translation will take a PDF file and translate it ( as best possible) into English. Now I do have something we can use to better make out the workings of this reel. It's not perfect ( they use YARN in place of LINE) and a few other "lost in translation" words...........but we can work around that. Between the now translated PDF document and the demonstrations people have posted on youtube we're good.

Ｐｅ2.5号を75ｍのみ巻いて、
28ｇのテキサスリグで使っています。

最初の数投を水になじませる感じで使えば、
それからはバックラッシュなく最後まで使えます。
現在Ｐｅ2.5をつかった釣行を10回くらいやっていますが、
トラブルレスです。
キジハタ30㎝もごり巻のぶち上げです。
キジハタ35㎝は、
　　竿を寝かし気味でごりごりと。
　　ぐぐぐっっとなったらポンピング　
　　きっちり落ち着いて取れましたが、
　　HGはちょっと苦しいかもしれません。

DC音がきれいで、飛ばしてるときでさえ楽しくなります。飛距離は長いですしスキッピングもしやすくなるはずです。
スキッピングに関しては、ブレーキを強くすると安心ですがマグネットブレーキなどだとスプールと回転の立ち上がりが遅くなり浮き上がってしまいますですがDCですと飛ばしていない時はブレーキは一切かかっていないのでルアーが浮きにくくなります。これは恐らくMGLでも言えると思います。
あと巻き心地は最高です

Retired...use this 3-4 times a week, all summer. Played with it for a hour then started fishing. Have NEVER had a backlash and the casting is controllable and if I power cast it, it will go 70 yards...(I have measured it). My only mistake is that I did not buy one sooner. ;)

Love this reel take this over my curado DC all day ! Curado DC is great but the Scorpion DC is just more of a detailed reel and can dial in what type of line setting your throwing . Very compact easy to store and carry around . Solid reel in all . Worth the extra 20-30bucks if looking into a Curado DC , may not hold line capacity of the Curado DC being the Curado DC is a 150 series and the Scorpion DC is a 100 series reel . Still I’d say the Scorpion DC is best bang

Just amazin!!! I tested this caster with 30 pounds fluorocarbon line and it handle it like a champ. No birds nest at all. Then I change it to 15 pounds and again no problem even when casting 1/4 lures or 1/8. I highly recommend this caster over other caster in its price range. I wish I found it sooner and would had save me $800 dollars worth of casters because you only need one with a scorpion.

バックラッシュしにくいベイトリールを探していたところ、15メタニウムDCと迷った挙句この17スコーピオンDC購入となりました。巷間のレビューでサミング無用の性能を謳うブレーキシステムI-DC5がいかほどのものか実際に試してみるべく夜の大阪湾ボートシーバスに行ってみました。メカニカルブレーキはフリー、DCブレーキセレクターはオートに合わせて闇夜に向かってキャスト！
感想は、凄いの一言！マジでサミングがほぼ不要で向かい風にもキャストが可能でした。あまり軽すぎるルアーは得意ではないけれど、シーバス用のプラグならほぼどんなシチュエーションでもOKです。結果このリールを使うことで格段に釣果がアップしました。と言っても別にこのリールが魚を呼び寄せる訳ではありません。私がメインとする釣りは夜のボートシーバスで、経験のある方は分かっていただけると思いますがナイトではたいていキャスト時ルアーの着水するところが見えません。なのでキャスト時はサミングのタイミングが超重要になります。ベストは着水ギリギリ直前のサミングですが、真っ暗な中ではよほど集中していないとこれがなかなか上手くいきません。サミングが早いとポイントまで届かずしかも派手な着水音を出してしまって魚を散らすことになり、逆に遅いとバックラッシュ祭りで釣り中断となります。サミングのミスでどちらがマシかというと、バックラッシュがないならば圧倒的に遅いサミングの方です。つまり暗い中でサミングのタイミングをあまり気にしないでベイトリールを使えることは結果的にトラブルなく長い時間ルアーを引けることを意味しそれが確率的に釣果アップに繋がるのです。普通のベイトリールの場合バックラッシュ予防にはメカニカルブレーキを締め、サミングしなくてもラインの出るのをある程度抑えておくのが普通ですが、安全と引き換えに飛距離を諦めなければなりません。このリールが凄いのはスプールが完全フリーでもバックラッシュしにくいつまり飛距離を犠牲にせずに投げられるところです。以前はダイワのタトゥーラSV TWを使っていましたが、（こちらのリールもバックラッシュしにくいことで高評価なのですが）ダイワのマグネットブレーキはオーバーヘッドキャスト時のルアーの軌道が不自然に山なりになるところが私のフィーリングに合わず、ナチュラルな弾道でキャストできるリールを探していたところでした。もちろんいかなる場合でもバックラッシュしないわけではありませんが、それでも致命的なライントラブルはこれまでほぼ皆無です。予備のリールも最近では出番もなく、この17スコーピオンは良い買い物でした。もし今後メタニウムDCが新しくなったら、またはバンタムにDCが搭載されたら確実に購入します。そしてまたレビューします。キュイーン！

クラウド : DC HG100の使用感とDC制御について。

届いた時からリールの箱がカッターで切られていたので気にはなっていたのですが、
リールが壊れていなければ良いと、その時までは思っていました。
DCとはいえ、バックラッシュが皆無とは思っていなかったのですが、
バックラッシュしまくりです。どんなに調整しても、少しでも向かい風があるだけでバックラッシュ。
ノーサミングで大丈夫と他では書かれていますが、自分のはサミングしないとほぼバックラッシュです。
ルアーの重さ関係なくバックラッシュ。バックラッシュの嵐で凹〇
通常直せない程の根深いバックラッシュで、20M位ラインを切るはめに。
一昨日の（2019/4/29）釣りの時に、これもしかして壊れているんじゃね？と思う程でした。
ただ良い所は、キャスト時の、ビュイィィ～ンと言う電子音だけですね。
自分のが壊れているだけで、他のレビュアーさんの意見が本当だと思いますが、
使用した感想としては、DCいらね！通常のスコーピオンで十分な気がしないでもないです。
まあ、DCの音がする、普通のスコーピオンとして使用はしますがね！
普通にサミングしてれば普通に使えますからね！
しかし、DCの評価としては、星1つですね。音で星2を点けときます！

2019/5/25追記

使用ルアーは、ダブルブレードのスピナーベイト。

本日改めて使用してきました。DCのライン選択切替レバーについてですが、
表記は、N（ナイロン）PE（PEライン）F(フロロカーボン)の順になっていますが、
自分のだとNとFの設定が逆のようで、バックラッシュ連発で、PEにしたら多少減り、
Fにしたら、着水の瞬間までサミング不用でした。まあ、投げ方にもよりますが、
ほぼほぼ、バックラッシュが皆無に！恐らくDC基板の組みつけに問題があると思いますが、
DCの威力を垣間見た１日でした。よって、星4にさせて頂きます。
-１は当然レバー表記と違う点でって事です！シマノさん、日本国内でちゃんと検品して下さい。

Amazonのお客様 : ビギナーからベテランまでお勧め

昔からシマノのリールを使っているものです。(もちろん、ダイワやアブやその他のリールも色々使っています)
まだ数回使用ですが、かなり気に入っています。
単純な飛距離については、全リールの中でもトップクラスです。もちろん、得意なラインの太さや、得意なルアーの重さは有りますが、一般的に言われる100番台(ないし1000番台…3.5号を100m巻けるキャパのやつ)の中では、飛距離と扱いやすさのバランスが素晴らしいです。
投げやすいのは5/16～5/8オンス辺りのルアーです。
キャストフィールとしては、dc特有の音と、遠心とマグのいいとこ取りのブレーキ感です。ダイワのマグフォースも素晴らしいですが、それよりも遠心のような感覚に近いです、ブレーキセッティングを合わせれば、飛ぶのに安心感があります。飛距離は遠心ブレーキ弱めの飛距離なのに、安心感は遠心強めの様な感じで使用出来ます。
ドラグ性能は、私が使う糸がかなり強めなので、いつも絞めこんでいるのですが、大物の時…60cmのバス、70cm程のナマズを掛けた時には程よくヌルヌルと活躍してくれました。特に違和感もなく、よいかと思います。
また、大物が掛かったときのリールの剛性感も特に不安はなしです。
巻き心地については、もっといい…アンタレスとかカルコンとかには敵わないかも知れませんが、実釣で影響が有るようには全く感じません。

実釣に置いては、その飛距離とブレーキの安心感にで、今まで出来なかった距離のピンスポット狙いが出来る様になったと思います。
具体例では、川でジッターバグ対岸の木の下に投げ込みたい時…10gちょっとしかない空気抵抗の大きいルアーを25m？先に綺麗に落としたい、ができます。
また、コンパクトで、親指も置きやすいので、パーミングも快適でした。

ブレーキ設定上手く行かない時は、糸巻き量を見ると良さそうです。フルでラインが巻かれているうちは、丁度いいブレーキ設定でも、トラブルで幾分かカットしたりした際は、スプール回転量が上がるのか、ブレーキが強くなり、一つ下げるのが丁度いい良くなったりします。
なので、何度か釣行を繰り返して、端糸を切って行くと、あるときにブレーキが同じ筈なのに飛ばないな、なんてなります。
この辺りは他のリールとおなじです。
svsと違ってダイヤルを弄るだけで、しかも4レベルから選ぶだけなので、Aモードで設定レスとは言わずに、カチカチ回してみてください。
ラインの質(滑り易さや、ゴワツキ等)によっては、フロロ、ナイロン、PEがそのまま当てはまらない時もありそうですが、概ね変えなくても良さそうなので、気になったかたは弄って見ても良いかも知れません。

注意点が１つ、今までメタニウム等の100番台リールの感覚で、4号ラインを75m程巻くと、3/4オンスクラスのメタルバイブを長竿でフルキャストした際、場合によっては全糸が出切って、ラインが足りなくなります。所詮100番台なのに飛んでしまうので、太いラインを使用したい方は、pe化するか、別のリールの方が良いかも知れません。
200番の最新版dcが欲しいところです。

べた褒めしてしまっていますが、
この価格でこの性能は他社にはないかと。
もう一台が買える値段なので、海様にハイギアを追加で買いたいです。

あとは、ラインキャパの所も書きましたが、200サイズのスコーピオンdcが出てくれると、pe5号が80m巻けるので、太い糸が必要なターゲットをdcブレーキで快適に狙えるのですが。
