Answer: Yes. You can go smaller or bigger that than too.

can you pair 1/2oz with a 3.5 rage swimmer?

Answer: Yes, I use various size plastics with this spinner, but be mindful some plastics may have a bigger body then the weighted head and can cause the spinner not to work properly. I hope this helps.
