Today, that creative spirit and an uncompromising commitment to quality are still the heart of Spyderco's distinctive product line, which includes a full range of folding knives, fixed-blades, sharpeners & other accessories produced in 5 different countries, including our facility in Golden, CO USA.
Product Description
Street Beat
Fixed Blade Knife
The Street Beat Lightweight combines Fred Perrin’s acclaimed Street Beat design with the manufacturing efficiencies of an injection-molded handle and sheath. The result is an exceptionally functional, extremely affordable fixed-blade knife that is ideal for both utilitarian and personal-defense applications. The Street Beat Lightweight’s Bowie-styled blade is machined from VG-10 stainless steel and features a full-flat grind for superior balance of edge geometry and strength. For tactical users who operate in environments where light discipline is a concern, the blade also features a non-reflective black ceramic coating. Its fiberglass-reinforced-nylon handle is injection molded directly onto the blade’s concealed tang and features the same ergonomic contours as the original. Perrin’s signature index-finger choil provides a streamlined but extremely effective guard to prevent the user’s hand from slipping during use.
A section of jimping (textured grooves) on the blade and handle spine provides a high-traction thumb index and ensures superior control during precise cutting tasks. For users who prefer lanyards on their knives, the handle also includes a generously sized lanyard hole.
To maximize its carry options, the Street Beat Lightweight comes with an injection-molded, snap-fit polymer sheath with a G-Clip attachment. The G-Clip can be attached to either side of the sheath for ambidextrous use and is angle adjustable to support a full spectrum of vertical, horizontal, or canted carry on the belt or inside the waistband.

Questions about Spyderco Street Beat Fixed Blade Knife with 3.51" VG-10 Steel Black Blade and Premium Injection-Molded Polymer Sheath - PlainEdge - FB15PBBK
Q:
Spyderco website has this item's origin as japan. amazon listing of the street beat shows origin of china. knock-off?
Answer: The Japanese model is made of VG-10 and nice micarta handles, better sheath too. This model is the poor man's version with injection molded sheath. Doesn't matter, it's the design that matters. I stippled these handles and used a Bladerigs clip on the sheath and it carries close to body and deploys fast. It's a functional alternative if you are looking for a defensive blade.
Q:
Is the blade black?
Answer: Yes
Answer: Yes
Answer: Yes
Answer: Yes.
Q:
I’ve been looking for a large neck carry would this do you think
Answer: Personally, I would not carry this around my neck, because it is a bit too big for that. However, if as you say, you are looking for a "large" neck carry, it could work. The knife itself is awesome. I pocket carry it.
Answer: It will depend on whether you want it as a handy, quickly-accessible knife that is not especially well concealed, or if you want it concealed. It is a super knife, and very comfortable in the hand, but that is because the handle is large enough for comfort, and will, therefore, be noticeable under a shirt. If you want something discreet, and is still a great knife, but is not necessarily for constant use, Spyderco's ARK fits the bill, as does TOPS Tibo, which may have more utility than the ARK.
Q:
Does the sheath have option for scout carry?
Answer: Define scout carry. Never heard of it.
Answer: Yes the clip is the spyderco gclip and can be reoriented
Q:
Picture of sheeth?
Q:
Does this have the Spyderco logo on the blade?
Answer: The spyderco logo is on the right side of the blade.
Answer: Mine does have the Spyderco logo on the left side of the blade near the hole. The logo is also on both sides of the handle on the one I bought.
Answer: I don't have it handy but I believe it's only on the handle.
Q:
What’s the grind?
Answer: I believe the one I have is a full flat grind
Q:
Is the handle rubbery feeling?
Answer: Aloha, no the handle is not rubbery it is a hard plastic feel in a wet situation it could get a bit slippery.
Answer: No rubber whatsoever
Q:
Could you carry this as a boot knife?
Answer: Yes you could, but you would have to fashion your own boot clip or possibly thread the laces of your boot through the eyelets of the sheath
Answer: Yes
Q:
Is the sheath for a belt or can it clip to a pocket?
Answer: The sheath is a plastic / Kydex material with a clip. It may be clipped to a pocket or worn on your belt. The clip allows it to be worn inside your pants clipped to your belt or inside a boot. The sheath secures the knife very well
Answer: It’s designed for a belt, but It’s a plastic clip with a curve on the bottom to create a holding point on your belt. This design would allow you to put the sheath in your pocket with the clip facing outwards to hook over your pocket.
Q:
Is the sheath inside the waistband compatible?
Answer: Yes. It has rivets on both sides to place the g-clip. I've run it iwb and owb. Even in gym shorts. It's a great sheath and the g-clip is awesome.
Answer: Yes, and the clip is reversible.
Answer: It sure is. I carry it everyday IWB. Works great for gym shorts as well as jeans.
Q:
On the 3.49 model, can a molded sheath be bought if it didn't come with one? A friend bought me a "seconds" and has no sheath and I don't see one here
Answer: It comes with a molded sheath, a good one at that. At least mine did.
Answer: I don't see any listed on the Spyderco site. I bet if you e-mailed their customer service, they could send you one.
Q:
Description says "Injection-molded fiberglass-reinforced nylon handle", "Micarta handle scales", which is it?
Answer: Does not have Micarta scales and also is not full tang. Someone messed up the description. The sentence "Constructed from full-length piece of steel set between Micarta handle scales" is for the ORIGINAL non coated street beat.
Answer: The handle is Injection molded making it lighter then the micarta version of this item.
Q:
do we know how far the tang runs through handle?
Answer:
Answer:
Q:
Can it be carried securely upside down for neck carry?
Answer: Certainly, but it might be a bit large - the handle especially - for neck carry. It's a terrific knife, but the Swick might be better for neck carry.
Answer: Seems to be at least as secure as the couple of neck knives I've seen. You could always get a local kydex maker to make a sheath that works for you as well. Might want to look at the dimensions though. Might be too big for you.
Q:
How thick is the handle?
Q:
Can I pocket carry this knife?
Answer: I do, depending on which pants I am wearing--it depends on how deep your front pants pockets are. The overall length is about 7.2 inches, plus a few millimeters for the tip of the sheath. So if your pants pockets are shallow, no, unless your pockets are covered by an untucked shirt or something or you live in an open carry state. In a deep pants pocket, yes. As for rear pants pockets, I don't think it would be a good idea--the knife is too long to go in the back pockets of any pants I own without sticking out.
Answer: I guess you could stick it in your pocket in the sheath, but the handle would likely stick out of the pocket, and it might be hard to deploy because the sheath would probably stay with the knife. Now, if you attached the sheath to a belt for vertical carry with the sheathed blade end of the knife partially in a pocket that might work, but it could be uncomfortable sitting down.
Answer: If you're not gonna try to conceal the knife you change the clip to other side and use it as a pocket sheath as the spyder clip is plenty tight I have used them for this many times
Answer: sure you can carry it in your pocket but if you do this to be sure that your knife comes out of the sheath when you draw it tie leagth of paracord to tip of sheath then to a belt loopmake it long enough to put the knife in your pocket sheath first when you draw the sheath will be left hanging from belt loop
Answer: Doesn’t make a good pocket knife. Sturdy sheath is pretty good for belt carry.
Answer: Depends on your pocket depth. The sheath is wider than the blade profile because of the fasters they use. A better option would be to attach nylon cord and girth hitch it around your belt and tuck it in your waist band. The sheath will pull away when you draw and clear your belt or how ever you decide to attach it.
Answer: Yes you can.
Q:
Does this knife come with a sheath? And if so can it be carried horizontally?
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: Yes. It comes with a sturdy kydex sheath. The G Clip allows for multiple positions of carry, including vertical. You really couldn't ask for a better designed knife.
Answer: Yes it comes with a sheath. It is set up for vertical carry.
Answer: Yes and yes. It's a nice knife and sheath.
Answer: Yes it does and yes it can with simple hand tools. Great knife i own two
Q:
The screw came loose on the belt attachment. Where can i get a replacement?
Q:
is this knife full tang?
Answer: No. Neither this or the larger version are full tang.
Answer: No. If you want the full tang version you'll have to get the Street Beat with the micarta scales.
Answer: Yes
Product reviews of Spyderco Street Beat Fixed Blade Knife with 3.51" VG-10 Steel Black Blade and Premium Injection-Molded Polymer Sheath - PlainEdge - FB15PBBK
Jean-Paul Sartray : great concealable knife
This is a splendid, concealable self-defense tool. Mine did not come razor sharp out of the box, but it only took about 30 seconds to touch up. My favorite feature for this knife is the handle configuration. The handle shape provides a rock solid grip. It is the perfect size for average hands and naturally lends itself to a sabre grip. (This is a good price, also. I paid 6 dollars more for it from a different vendor.)
DRios79915 : Good deal
Item is Awesome fast shipping, Great knife got to Love Spyderco, the handle is a little awkward i will prob shave a little of the grip down near that big finger thingie lol, little uncomfortable there, and the belt clip a little awkward. Its still a great knife tho.
SGM TacPack : Great Spyderco EDC!
This is one of my new EDC knives. Living in Colorado I am limited to a blade length of 3.5" and this blade is exactly that length, measured from the forward finger choil to blade tip. The sheath is great. The blade is thick and sturdy. Spyderco quality all the way!

Ron Schmon : Good buy
Small overall size. Light weight. Blade edge wasn't perfect when I got it, but the knife is good overall. Blade is big enough to be useful for most needs, but not so big it is difficult to control. Seems to be a good overall design for EDC, but allowing for self defense too.
Spyder clip makes it easy to carry either OWB or IWB. Can switch the clip around for either style, right or left hand.
Worth noting, as is, it sits very close to the body. If you got some extra you there, might be a pain to get back in the sheath. Though, this makes it better for either concealment, or just keeping it out of the way as you move around, get in the car, etc.
blair fourney : Buy it
Awesome knife. Fits perfectly in the hand (I wear L or XL gloves). Very sharp and sturdy, sheath is good IWB or on a belt.
Arius B. : Amazing blade.
I love Spyderco knives, and this one is just awesome. You will love it.
Red Beard : Amazing EDC knife
Amazing EDC knife! I carry and use this everyday. It came extremely sharp out of the box... be careful! I have recommended it to all my friends! Great knife!
Jeffrey L How : Five Stars
Nicely balanced good fit and finish
Charles C : Great
Nice knife good sheath
D Mills : Great For hiking!
Love this knife.
F. Lee Maes : Perfect Colorado Knife
Great knife. 3.5 inch blade is perfect for EDC in Colorado.
