product description
River Country, one of your most respected manufacturers of Grill and Smoker Thermometers is proud to introduce the River Country Universal Electric Smoker / Grill Adjustable Heating Controller and Element. The matching heating controller and element are designed for the Barbecue Enthusiast who is designing and building their own electric smoker or grill and looking for an easy to use and install electric heating system. The controller and element can be added to many existing large smokers and grills if you're to incorporate in a separate food warmer area. The heating element and matching adjustable controller allows you to adjust the temperature from approximately 50 F up to 450 F, depending on size, construction and materials used in the smoker or grill. The heating element features an easy mount flange which requires a rectangular opening in the side of your grill or smoker of 2 5/8" by 1" for the removable controller attachment flange. The element mounting bracket allows for adjustable bolt mounting from 2 ¾" to 3 ½" on center and can be attached with user supplied bolts and nuts. The heavy duty 1500 watt element uses standard US 110 volts and come with 2" tall stabilizing supports for the ends of the element. The controller easily can be unplugged from the heating element for cleaning and storage and features an easy to adjust dial thermostat with a heating on indicator light. The controller is UL listed and has a heavy duty yet flexible 52" power cord for safe use of your grill or smoker year round. The River Country element and controller may be used as a general replacement for other brands of electric smokers and grills, however, please be sure to check your manufacturer's warranty and mounting requirements and sizing specifications as shown in the secondary product pictures.

Questions about River Country Universal Replacement Electric Smoker and Grill Heating Element with Adjustable Thermostat ControllerNEW 1500 Watts Higher Heat
Q:
Does this fit brinkman electric smoker?
Answer: I was able to fit it in my Brinkman smoker. It took a bit more work than I had expected. I used a dremel with a small cutoff wheel. There are two holes that needed to be enlarged, the inside and outside trays. After about an hour and half a dozen wheels, the job was done. Now you have to bend the element a bit so it fits and doesn’t touch the metal tray. Haven’t tried it yet but hopefully it will work.
Answer: I used a dremel with a metal blade. Fits perfectly.
Answer: I made it fit in mine. Just cut the original hole bigger with a torch.
Answer: No, and it cost me almost $20 to find out ( return shipping cost and restocking fee!). Amazon should not allow this to be listed as a "universal" replacement part
Q:
Will it work on a Masterbuilt 20070409?
Answer: The heating element is easy to shape iif needed to fit in bottom of smoker. If the holes don't fit in the side. You can easily bore another one
Answer: I don't know, I used it on a Char-broil it didn't get the temp above 100
Answer: It's easy to adjust, may have to make a change for plug install
Q:
is the 16" length from end of element to end of handle
Answer: Hello! The element is 14 1/4" from the top of the element to the mounting bracket. Thank you!
Answer: I'm not sure. Many purchasers have to carefully bend the element to fit. I bent mine to fit in the bottom of my Brinkmann electric smoker. Have you tried contacting the seller/Mfg? Sorry I couldn't be more help. Scott
Q:
What are the Length X Width dimensions of the element?
Answer: Hello! The element is 14 1/4" long x 11 1/2" wide. Thank you!
Answer: 16 x 11
Q:
Any reason why this wouldn't work for a propane to electric conversion in a smoker?
Answer: I used 2 units to convert my masterbuilt xl smoker. You'll need insulation of some sort, I have an old blanket I wrap mine in and cut a hole in it near the exhaust. With the blanket I can easily maintain 275 with elements on low. Propane is still usable on mine as well
Answer: it would work great. I put it in a charcoal smoker works great
Answer: I think it would work it gets 450 degrees.
Answer: No reason at all. This wont be nearly as hot as propane would be though. I had to cut down the soak time for my chips cuz it wouldnt burn them.
Answer: Yes, it works well. It produces enough heat to smoke well in a converted upright freezer.
Answer: I tried the same application. It did not get hot enough to cure meat
Answer: It isn't the greatest.
Answer: It is not the greatest.
Answer: Thats what i did but it didn't get hot enough.
Q:
will this element work in masterbuilt smoker model 20071514
Answer: Worked fine. I did have to drill a new hole on one side as the mounting holes for the element don't match.
Answer: Not sure what model that is but should work. I have a propane model and had trouble get the temp low enough. It could require a piece of sheet metal for the bottom to reduce air drafts. Hope this helps!
Q:
We have a croydon pizza oven .both heaterelements are gone.It uses 3000 watt,110volt ,60hertz.can your elements work for our oven?It is used every day
Q:
how long could this be left running continuously?
Answer: It turns itself on and off according to the setting, I've left mine on for more than 12 hours while smoking brisket.
Q:
Will the heating element work on a master built 70070106
Answer: If your box is larger than or equal to 14 1/4 long and 11 1/2 wide it will work , excellent element holds temperature very well and steady.
Answer: Sorry, I can't help much. Look at the dimensions of both and see. Mainly, look at the part that goes the opening on the body of the smoker; I had to make some modifications as each smoker's element attaches differently (some holes are round, some rectangle but they can fit).
Q:
Will this fit a Charbroil H2O smoker part # 4754512
Answer: Not sure. It was a little to big for my Masterbuilt so I had to bend in the sides a little. Now it fits perfectly and works better than the original.
Q:
Aloha, i moved into a condo and can't use a flamed grill on the deck, electric is ok. has anyone converted a pk grill to electric?
Answer: no
Q:
How long does it take to heat up a 20”x20”x3’ smoker to 250 degree?
Answer: reaching 250 will take in my smoker about 10mins. It takes about 20-30 to reach 400+ degrees.
Q:
Does this element fit a smoke hollow smoker?
Answer: I had to ream out the opening on my bullet smoker to make it fit. It works great.
Answer: This is definitely not “universal”. Check the dimensions carefully....I had to pay restocking fee when I sent mine back.
Answer: It works real well. I am pleased
Q:
approximately how big of an area wil this heat to 250 if its around 70 outside
Answer: 16 cubic feet, it works great on my 2x2x4 tall homemade smoker
Q:
I'm thinking about adding this to my smoker so I could char/seer a steak. Ifvthe coil is close enough to the cooking surface would it get hot enough?
Answer: Maximum temperature for my smoker is about 325 degrees. Thermometer probe is about 12 inches above the element.
Answer: I would think so the control goes over 300 degrees
Answer: Yes. My old smoker stated you could remove all but the base and grill with it.
Answer: Oh yeah. Gets plenty hot. Should be ok.
Answer: That would probably work, it will maintain 400 deg.
Answer: Yes it will.
Q:
How easy is it to bend the coil? Our electric coil currently measure about 11 x 8; this one looks to be about 11 x 14. Thanks
Answer: These coils can be bent, just remember the configuration of how they are constructed, prior to purchasing I would purchase the configuration that is needed. They have provide several different configurations of heaters for the same money and if not give them a call, they are very easy to work with. Hope this helps.
Q:
The listing has the dimensions at 16 x 11; however, you have several answers yourself that put it at 14 1/4 x 11 1/2. Which one is correct?
Answer: Hello! The element is 14 1/4" long x 11 1/2" wide. Thank you!
Answer: it is 14 1/4 x 11 1/2
Q:
Does anyone know if this will fit a masterbuilt 30" smoker?
Answer: With lots of modifications Plug original element hole. Cut new hole for new element. Squeeze element. Caulk around new stuff. Added 12g copper wires x 3 or 4 tracing from one leg of element to other to create more geared contact with the smoke box.
Q:
Will this work on a smoke hollow 26142e?
Answer: I don't know what a smoke hollow 26142e is but if it is over 15 inches in diameter and you can cut a hole in it for the plug in it should work. It heats my Weber kettle type smoker was charcoal fired to 225 degrees all day long and can be dialed down from there.I put a heavy aluminum pan directly on top of the element and put wood in it for smoke.I love it.
Answer: I don't know but the dementions of the heating element are listed. Measure carefully, twice! This is by no means "universal" and they charge you to ship it back & a restocking fee as well if it doesn't fit. Buyer beware
Answer: Even if it fits, the element will not last very long... not a reliable product.
Answer: I personally dont know but my advise is measure carefully because the cord does not disconnect from the heating element.
Answer: No.....It will not. It is too long and too wide. I had to return it.
Answer: Not sure it didn't fit my smoker (not universal)
Q:
Does the temp adjustment switch only have three setting; low, medium and high, or can you adjust it incrementally anywhere in between? i
Answer: incremental I used a marker to indicate the corresponding temps on my unit
Answer: Yes you can adjust it .
Answer: Hi! You can dial it smoothly anywhere you like. Hope this helps! Also, you may find that the element doesn't seem like it will fit, so just remember that the element is bendable.
Q:
Will it fit a Bradley digital four rack?
Answer: Sorry, can't help you with that one. What are the dimensions of the Bradley?
Answer: Not sure, will just have to measure your smoker and compare to deminsions online.
Q:
will this fit in a masterbuilt model #20070106?
Answer: good question. too bad no one that has a 20070106 model answered it. Only those with homemade and you didn't ask about homemade....
Answer: Sorry, but I have no idea. I used this in a home-made smoker I built, and it really works great.
Answer: No idea, I used mine for a homemade smoker. Sorry
Answer: I wouldn't know for sure. I put this in an electric smoker that I made.
Q:
can you tell me how many amps this draws at full draw? thanks.
Answer: Watts divided by volts equals amps.
Answer: Don't know about the amps, old unit burned out, this one works well as replacement, specs. Should be available thru seller
Answer: ABOUT 14 AMPS
Q:
Will this fit a smokey mountain smoker model 32954
Answer: I don't know what we did is measure our bad element and then went by the dimensions on the posting
Q:
River country llc i called your number you were supposed to send an analog thermostat, and didn't why doesn't anyone answer at all when i call?
Q:
Will this fit Brinkman electric smoker #810-5515-0?
Answer: Probably, with some slight modifications. I modified my Brinkman gas smoker with this electrical component and took me all of 15 mins.
Answer: sorry I'm not familiar with this smoker.
Q:
Will this work with the Charbroil grill Patio Caddie?
Q:
Could this be made to fit a Masterbuilt tailgate smoker model 20050416?
Answer: I had to enlarge the opening on my cheap "bullet" style smoker, but the control works the legs fit, it heats.
Answer: Not sure. Mine fit in the 30" Masterbuilt.
Answer: This is not a "universal" heating element. Check the detentions carefully. I think they make their money on the restocking fee i was charged when i sent it back.
Answer: Sorry I have no idea what that is so can’t say.
Q:
will this work on a Marster built 20070610
Answer: Not sure , be careful didn't work on my Brinkman and they try to charge me restocking fee .
Answer: Not familiar with the model number. Definetly fits the 30" 3 rack analog smoker.
Q:
Will this work on a brinkman charcoal smoker conversion
Answer: i'm sure you can make it work. I think it's 1400 watts vs 1500. no big deal. don't be afraid to cut up your brinkman to modify it. it's not like your ever going to sell it. don't forget the lava rocks. the small rectangular foil pans fit nicely in the center of the element. use the small wood chips without soaking and it works perfect.
Answer: I had to modify the bottom of my smoker to get it to fit. The element fit nicely but my smoker diameter was too small to fit the element and the connector. I made the opening large enough to put the metal flanges at the connector on the outside of the smoker box and it worked nicely.
Answer: Hi! I barely got it to fit in a Brinkmann electric smoker. I had to carefully bend the element so it would fit inside. Not sure what you mean by "conversion" but, I once took a Brinkmann charcoal smoker and took one of the pans and put a small element in it, and used it like an electric. It didn't work well because too much air got in from underneath the leg area. If you're thinking about making the element in the charcoal bowl/pan it will be way to big. Hope this helped! Scott
Answer: Universal Replacement Electric Smoker and Grill Heating Element measurement 14.5"x11.5"
Answer: I don't know, but I know that it will not work on a Redi-Smoke Smoker or on an Old Smokey Smoker. Be careful and assure that it is correct for your needs. The vendor will not refund your money eve n though you return the product.
Answer: It fit in my Madterbuilt works good.
Q:
Can this be adapted to fit Brinkmann Gourmet Elac smoker, a round one? I need the adjustable temp control. Mine, with the wood flaming, gets too hot!
Answer: If it is an electric smoker you should already have a hole in the side at the bottom. On my Brinkman, the screws didn't match to hold it in but it has small legs but is fairly sturdy even without a permanent mount. I will also not burn large pieces of but smokes small chips ok.
Answer: Didnt fit my smoker.
Answer: Probably not. It might be to big. You'll have to check dimensions.
Q:
I am trying to keep the temperature around 220 degrees F. will this unit hold there?
Answer: I have had no trouble holding 225-250. Each time I use it
Answer: Mine did about 225-230 degrees F (onThe "high" setting) in my masterbuilt pro. Keep in mind it was in CA and protected from wind. A thermal blanket may raise that a bit
Answer: I never had a problem, just watch it closely
Q:
Will this fit 30" model 18202077 charbroil electric smoker?
Answer: I can answer your question. I bought this element to retro fit it to my homemade wood smoker as an assist heat source to maintain the proper heat temp desired
Answer: I don't know it did fit my master craft smoker with slight adjustments
Answer: I would say yes you will have to modify thru the wall for mounting, but I would say it will work for your needs.
Q:
Is there a slightly smaller version of this same product?
Answer: I'm not sure
Q:
What are the dimensions of the rectangular box that connects the element to the controller? i have a master forge / landmann brinkmann ebc1102l.
Answer: 23/4" by 1"
Answer: 23/4" by 1"
Q:
would this element work in a model Brinkman 810 - 5290 - c also element that would fit is 116 - 7000 - 0
Answer: It will fit in a cabinet 15" X 12" comfortably.
Q:
Will this fit a Master Forge Model 0332739?
Answer: Yes it will fit a Master Forge Model 03327297 but it does not get hot enough to function efficiently.
Answer: The interior of my smoker at the base is 14" X 14". I had to tweak and bend it just a bit. Then it fit in just fine If your is that size or bigger you'll be fine.
Answer: Sorry, can't tell you that. I used it on a Char-broil smoke to convert it to electric. The internal temp would not rise above 100 degrees. Useless for my needs.
Q:
How much can I bend this
Answer: It's exactly like a regular element you would find in a standard kitchen oven. That may help you decide how much you think you could bend it. I had no need to bend it for my application so I didn't try but it feels like it could bend a bit without kinking or cracking.
Answer: Go slowly and shape to fit inside the floor of smoker.
Answer: Maybe 20 percent. I didn't have any problems doing it by hand until it fit
Q:
Will this work on an older little chief top load electric smoker?
Answer: I'm not familiar with that smoker but the measurements should be attached to heating element, good luck
Q:
will this fit old smokey electric smoker?
Answer: I'm not sure if it fits Old Smokey. The dementions are listed & I wish I would have seen that before I ordered. This product is inaccurately labeled "universal replacement" but the only universal aspect of my transaction was the money they charged me to ship it back to them & the restocking fee they charged me & everyone else that is duped into ordering. Buyer beware.
Answer: Works fine. Thermostat sticks out
Q:
Will it fit with NO modification & replace the Brinkmann 810-7080-8 Gourmet Electric Smoker? 1500 watt Brinkmann 116-7000-0 Replacement Part
Answer: Just measure what came out against these measurements. I had no problem making a bend here and there (a mini modification) and have been rolling smoke since day one! I knew I could do this by reading other customers reviews, so not uncommon at all to tweak it a tad. I'm very happy with this (as opposed to buying much more expensive ones, or JEEZE no a new smoker.
Q:
will this element work in a Cajun elctric grill?
Answer: Hello! Yes, this element will work on the Cajun electric grill. Thank you!
Answer: Not familiar with a Cajun grill. I had to modify my smoker for it to fit. It is a universal replacement for most round smokers.
Q:
Does this fit a landmann great smokey mountain series 26 in smoker?
Answer: I would say it would, you will have to make some alterations to the box but should work. Then again pending on the previous element the holes and slot cut thru the box might just fit. This is a very good unit, I use it for a totally different purpose than smoking meat, I use it for a powder coating oven for curing coated products. It maintains the proper heat level very well, I use it at the max of 400 deg for hours on end. Very good product.
Q:
Converting a wood burner to electric, how do you place the wood? Directly on the coils? Or in a pan of some sort,
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: If you place anything directly on the electric coil you run the risk of burning it out. I bought a small smoke box for wood chips and placed it on 2 pieces of angle iron so it sits just slightly above the coil. I also use a torch to ignite part of the chips.
Answer: I put the wood chips in a smoker chip box I found at a local hdw store then just placed directly on the coils. works good for me !
Answer: Put wood in a pan on a rack. Not on the coils
Answer: Best bet is to order some lava rocks to insulate the burner. Water soaked wood will ruin the burner.
Q:
This fit for master forge electra smoker model 20071214
Answer: I don't know if it will fit your smoker. I made my smoker out of an old upright stainless refrig and I used this element which works like a dream. It has performed without any problems and it does heat up like advertised. Measure your element then use the info on the advertisement to see if its the same dimensions.
Q:
Does this unit actually have a thermostat or is it just a rheostat ?
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: rheostat!
Answer: No
Q:
How wide/length is this
Answer: The coil is manufactured to fit the standard width of the round pits. You may have a minor problem with the mounting screw holes but that can be adjusted easily with a file or drill.
Answer: One of the pictures on the item shows all dimensions. I bought it for my mom.
Q:
Will this fit a Dyna-Glo electric grill
Answer: Not sure , it did fit my masterbuilt almost perfect.
Q:
What’s the maximum heat people are getting out of this? Does it actually reach 450 degrees as stated in the description?
Answer: I got 195 degrees topped out on my Brinkmann Smoker. That was on an 83 degree day.
Answer: Can't help you with your question, I only use in my smoker and have no need to test the upper limits. I would "suspect" that within a small contained area it could reach the upper limit. Also suspect that if the upper limits were to be maintained over a long period of time and continued use at those higher temps eventually the element would burn itself out. Can only stay "red hot" for so long before metal fatigue sets in.
Answer: Yes it works very well
Q:
look to build small powder coat oven wondering if this electric hheating elements wood work needt to reach around 400 degrees in oven
Answer: If it’s small, but won’t heat a large space. I have a medium sized refrigerator I converted to an oven and it barely gets to 400 F when turned on max. I would run 2 if I were you unless it’s a small oven.
Answer: In an enclosed space the element would produce extreme heat! I modified my cooker and have used it repeatedly with temperatures reaching the max on the recast.
Answer: Seriously doubt it...these are usually designed to reach about 250 max for smokers. Heat low & slow
Answer: I am sure mine does not get my small brinkman smoker more than about 300 or less depending on outside temperature.
Product reviews of River Country Universal Replacement Electric Smoker and Grill Heating Element with Adjustable Thermostat ControllerNEW 1500 Watts Higher Heat
GLW : I hope this will still be available when it's time to replace it
I used this to replace a defective coil/digital control on a masterbuilt smoker. it did take a lot of work and imagination to install it though. what's nice is the control dial. i also found out if necessary you can bend the element to fit your space. i would recommend this as a replacement for an electric smoker or even a conversion from charcoal to electric.
good : Converted my gas smoker to electric. This just doesn't ...
Converted my gas smoker to electric. This just doesn't get very hot and takes a long time to heat up.
thnuke : Works very well.
The designing of this product is very good.
Lori : Works as advertised
Works great in my homemade smoker!
Lisa : Works great!
Purchased a used Kenmore smoker. After about a month, temp control knob had a short and literally melted. Temp control knob plugged directly into heater element. Since kenmore discontinued the item, we thought we'd have to throw away smoker. Happened to find this universal element. Hubby had to enlarge opening in side of smoker to accomodate new element. Other than that quick and simple modification, installed and works beautifully.
Gary : Fits Royal Gourmet 30" smoker
I have a new royal gourmet smoker just out of warrantee. The thermostat unit totally melted after just four uses. A problem reported her by many. A new controller was $45 and this one came with an element too for $50. The element itself is about twice as big as the original and needed minor bending of the coil to fit. The mounting screw holes were also different so I had to drill new holes. The original unit never heated past 200°. This one over 300° easy. Happy so far.
William : Fits right in, plenty of power, super happy!
I just installed this into a masterbuilt pro. Fit right in the box and matched up to the rectangular opening like it was made for it. The flanges did not meet up with any existing holes, so it did require some work. I just drilled a hole through the side of my smoker and through bolted it. I imagine a 1-1/2" self tapping sheet metal screw would work too. Element is thicker in diameter than the one it replaced, I'm thinking it should last a little while longer.
The high setting takes that smoker up to 340d F, and the Med-low setting puts it right at 225 f. The first batch of pulled pork should be done by lunchtime!
Also, I see in the reviews, some people got some meat shredder claws. Unfortunately, I did not receive any surprise items. Dang. Still happy with purchase-5 stars all the way around
Samuel B. : Try another brand
If your into powder-coating and looking to buy heating elements this elements will do the JOB! I purchased two and easily install on my oven & i like the fact they come with the Little Legs to Stand still instead of floating around . The elements dont shut off after certain temperature . Overall great product !!
Justin Knoble : The only replacement I can find!
I've been through two of these in a little over two years for my smoker. I actually got electrocuted by the first one when it shorted internally. The max temp can be inconsistent, but I've found ways to deal with it.
It is in fact, the ONLY replacement heating element I've been able to find for my smoker. So I will continue to buy them until I replace it.
B King : Control set around the "low" setting holds temp at 230 or so for several hours--just fine for smoking
A bit too pricey, but the temp control makes it worth it. I use this in cheap "bullet" style electric smoker. Control set around the "low" setting holds temp at 230 or so for several hours--just fine for smoking.
Barton K. Hawkins : NEVER GETS TRULY HOT - NO GLOW, TOO SLOW
I wish I could say I love this thing. But a full hour to get a SMALL 30 in cylinder smoker with dome to just 275 degrees...and no higher...and NEVER red hot...never even slightly glowing in the dark of night...the this is just plain awful.
At 1500 W this thing should be CRANKING my little domer to 400 (way to hot for smoking, I know) in 10 minutes (my domer is really only about double the volume of my oven's in the house.
AWFUL.
Beans : Heats well. Easy to install
Easy to install. Maintains heat well installed in master built smoker cabinet. Only issue is finding temperature setting, once set works great.
Gary burke : great value
perfect fit
Lewis Nimety Jr. : Old smoker. New Life!
Not what you are led to believe. Converted my old charcoal smoker. And the seller states the element reaches up to 450 degrees. But it only reaches 225 for me! A 15 amp outlet direct hookup. Sadly disappointed.
Stephanie Diaz : Its a great replacement!
Had to replace the one from my smoker, Masterbuilt John Mclemore Signature series, that had gone out and its done a really great job.
Beans : Heats well. Easy to install
Easy to install. Maintains heat well installed in master built smoker cabinet. Only issue is finding temperature setting, once set works great.
soho : I’m so glad for this opportunity so that I might be able ...
Hello, I’m so glad for this opportunity so that I might be able to say how awesome this purchase is. I am very very pleased over this great product and the price was good too. I could not be happier and want to do it again.
Danny Go Spurs Go! : Would not heat up
Installed this in my 30 in. Masterbuilt and could not get this thing above 200 degrees. Tried reaching out to the company for a replacement or refund and was unsuccessful. Unit was plugged directly into wall outlet and i used highest detting ans still would not get above 200 degrees.
JP : Heating Element
I didn't realize that this was a pair of items. Not sure why you would buy two at one time but I have either a spare or one for the next smoker I build.
K. Ayers : Better than the original
Excellent replacement part for the original element of my Brinkmann smoker. The variable control is a huge benefit since the original element ran a bit hot for the type of smoking I do where 'low and slow' is important.
I did have to spend about 2 hours cutting/grinding a hole in the base of my smoker for this element, but totally worth the effort.
Christopher Helms : It Did What It Was Supposed To Do.
Ordered this & a DozyAnt thermometer to replace the burned out dead coil on my old Brinkmann red smoker, which did not have a temp control. It took some amateur metal working and a little cussing to fit it in, but it went. Got it to 225, and it took some periodic adjusting to keep it there, but the thing worked okay and seven hours later I had the best, slow smoked pork butt the old red smoker has ever produced. I'm only giving it four stars because its not really universal.
pl : Do not buy, poor quality.
Owned for less than 60 days. Item worked the first dozen times I used it then it then I noticed the smell of burning plastic. Found the controller was burned up and fell apart when I unplugged it. I have called River Country during business hours and only get voicemail. No one answers. Looking at other 1 star reviews and I see others experienced the same poor quality of product and lack of customer service. Do not buy.
Amazon Customer : NEVER worked correctly...HORRIBLE customer service.
I bought this on July 15ths, 2020, to add to my Charcoal smoker as a secondary heat source. Once smoking is done, any heat will do and this was going to be easier than tending charcoal. I installed it per instructions. I tested it on a warm summer day. The temperature inside my smoker never got above 210 degrees which is not sufficient. The ad claims that it can heat to 450 degrees. I don't need 450; the sweet spot for me is 225 up to 300. I exchanged messages with them several times. The suggested the ground might be dirty. I cleaned and tightened it. They didn't like that I was using an extension cord (12 foot 12 gauge cord...same ability to carry electricity as the 12 gauge Romex house wiring) so I moved the smoker close to an outlet. NO difference. Cooler day, max temp reached was 208 degrees. They finally grudgingly acknowledged that it might be defective. I carefully uninstalled it and shipped it at my expense to their facility in Minnesota. Weeks went by without a word. I emailed them again and they said they would check on progress. I've never heard a word. So, as far as I'm concerned, they have ROBBED me TWICE. The $50.00 paid for the unit initially and then the $12.00 I paid to ship it back to them. I have never been able to cook as much as a hot dog with it and I now have NOTHING to show for my investment. My recommendation: Avoid this company like the PLAGUE.
Barney : Great fix
Had to slightly modify the mounting screw location, otherwise working good.
Uncle Bob : Doing it w/electricity.
Prior smoking cabinet was gas, after years of slow cooking the gas elements just rotted away. Decided to remove any evidence of the still intact, nicely broken in and tight cabinet being gas, and converted the heat source to electric with the help of this unit. Worked out great. The big plus is that the heating unit has a thermostat which allows me to control the heat far better than I ever could with gas. All good.
The picture of the unit is unavailable at the time of this review, but did it one better...photo attached is of my first batch of smoked bacon using my now electric smoker. Yum!
Lewis Nimety Jr. : Old smoker. New Life!
Not what you are led to believe. Converted my old charcoal smoker. And the seller states the element reaches up to 450 degrees. But it only reaches 225 for me! A 15 amp outlet direct hookup. Sadly disappointed.
jesse de hoyos : that it works for about 3 times!
the place where it plugs in to the element turns brittle, and breaks off!
Terry : Element size
Haven't installed yet, but looks like it will be a good fit.
Dewayne : Quick delivery.
This element was not a perfect fit for my masterbuilt smoker but it was not hard to rearrange the brackets to make it fit. Have smoked some meat and it works great.
Kindle Customer : My obsolete Brinkman Gourmet Smoker is alive again.
Replaced my Brinkman Gourmet Smoker element with this but had to modify both bottom pans with a jigsaw to enable insertion. Then I learned that the temp sensing probe can’t sense and enable controlled temp if it’s sitting outside the heating section. It runs full on all the time just like the original element. So I bought a separate temp sensor/controller and now have a poor man’s Traeger and love it.
Barney : Great fix

ANTHONY J ZARBO : Great price
Prefect fit
Tom Kaus : Unconventional use
Used in a conversion of an old refrigerator into an oven to cure gun parts coated with Cerakote. Basically a smoker. Was able to get internal temp. over 350 degrees. Only complaint is the temp. control dial is not as precise as I would like, but I'm not using it the way it was intended. Basically I could cook enough pizzas to feed an army all at one time!

B. Murray : Works good for smaller grills
Works great in warm/hot weather. I have a 32” barrel grill and as long as it’s 70 degrees or higher (not windy) it gets to 225 and stays there. Below 70 and windy and it will barely get 150. It would work best for small grills/smokers.
Update: Been using for 3 years, very basic unit with almost no control, but I’ve gotten used to using and now I’m in love with it. Works perfect every time. Been smoking with it three times a week without any issues.
Lori : Works as advertised
Works great in my homemade smoker!

Hello, I’m so glad for this opportunity so that I might be able to say how awesome this purchase is. I am very very pleased over this great product and the price was good too. I could not be happier and want to do it again.
JamesVT : Nice
Works much better than the original which I was dumb enough to put water on to clean it.
I did have to bend the long part some -- but i love it!!!
David B. : Replaced MasterBuilt Sportsman Elite Smoker element and controller; check dimensions before ordering
As a package, the controller and element were economical and available from stock. Dimensions shown in the diagram were very helpful. The dimensions shown on the new element and controller made it clear to me I needed to order them as a package, since my existing controller had different plug in dimensions than those required on this new element. Diagram and pictures also let me know I would need to drill two new holes (1/4") for the 2 sets of bolts and lock nuts required (not supplied with the package) for mounting on my smoker. Drilled the holes, installed the new element, plugged in the new controller and all functioned properly.

GLS MN COLD : Ok
It’s okay. I had to do some modifications to make it fit. The temperature is hard to control, so you really have to monitor your smoking operation.
1BigDady : You get what you pay for
I received the product it was easy to install it does what it says it supposed to and maybe a little bit more
DCC EBARB : Good for the Price!
Only gets up between 225-250 degrees when fully dialed. Perfect for my smoking needs but I expected to have some more range. Used it in my Masterbuilt vertical electric smoker. Did not have to modify at all. Simple installation.
Brian Miller : Check the progress of your meats while cooking temperature tends to run a bit high.
It’s a good product that was compatible to my smoker works great, my only complaint is the temperature control is not very accurate.
