Questions about Berkley Dough Bait Mold
Q:
A 12/16 so is it 3/4 '' ball ???
Answer: Hi, they come in a pair and the 12/16 refers to the size of hooks. One can accommodate #12 treble hook and smaller and the other similar #16 hooks and smaller. They work good and fom a perfect floating powerboat ball without much mess or waste.
Q:
what size and hook used
Answer: There are two sizes in the package. I use the smaller of the two most of the time for trout. I think we use number 12 or 14 treble hooks. We love them.
Answer: I use a size 14 treble hook with the larger mold. Not sure about the size for the small mold, as I haven't used that one yet.
Answer: Size 14 treble hook
Answer: any size
Product reviews of Berkley Dough Bait Mold
Amazon Customer : Useless.
Bait sticks to these clamps more than the hook. Save a dollar and use your fingers.
Craig : It's a Bait Mold.
Not much to say, it's a simple device that works extremely well.
I use it so that no scent from my hands are transferred to the bait.
Added Plus, you wont poke your fingers with the hook anymore....
Bigjames : Five Stars
Good product.
jim : Nice addition
Meets expectations keeps fingers clean
Thomas : Just the right amount for most hooks
Seems very sturdy and durable, which is good for the low price. I usually use the large one which typically takes just the right mount to get the hook to float, depending on the size hook you use. If it doesn’t take enough, you can scoop of a bit more and just add it to the ball it already made so it isn’t a problem. I don’t use the smaller one too much but with a smaller hook it would work well also.

Nik Lance : Yup! I wrote a review on this.
Keeps my hands clean. Nice tight balls! Stays on hooks! Fish requested that I tell the makers to have different shapes for them. They are getting tired of round balls.
Ana : Bait mold
No more stinky hands and 2 different size molds
KINGFISH : really nice with the correct hook seizes for trout
Bought em to see what they where .....really nice with the correct hook seizes for trout etc
Warriorpoet : Worked very nice!
Molded the powerbait into easy to use balls to put on the hooks. The powerbait didn't attract any fish, but that doesn't matter for this review. Worked easily.

Diane E Kimbell : THANK YOU! HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT.
Ordered two pkgs. one came with package intact but missing a small bait baller. Called yesterday and was told to keep it. A new package was delivered just a bit ago! Am VERY SATISFIED with the way the small oversight was handled. I gave five stars for the scent...know why? THERE IS NO SCENT! That’s a plus for any fisherman!
Small and light enough for a lanyard or key ring...has built in loop for such. Easy to find color...another plus. Genius product.
AMAZON ROCKS and so does BERKLEY DOUGH BAIT MOLDS!
Thomas : they are totally unnecessary.
I really shouldn't have bought these. they are totally unnecessary.

daniel : Its "ok"
It does make a good uniform ball but it sucks at keeping it on the hook. I tried many ways of using it and I was hoping the compression would make a tight, tight, ball that would float better and also fuse both halves and keep it on the hook better but it doesnt. Where the two halves join there is a fine separation regardless of how much you fill both halves on the tool and how hard you press. With hard casts the bait will come flying off into two pieces.
I dont really care for my hands being dirty as I roll a small amount in my palms and then make a tight ball to put on the hook and then dip it in the water for ~10 seconds, and then let it "dry" outside the water for about a minute and it solidifies very well onto the hook. I can cast a good 75 yards and be confident my bait is still on the hook, reel it back in and recast if needed as long as theres no seaweed to rip it off the hook. Doing that same exact method with the tool, I see my bait fly into two halves on hard casts before it hits the water lol. It was roughly 2 bucks and now there charging 6 bucks so take my advice when I say hard pass. Making a ball with your hands and putting it on the hook takes 20 seconds and with the tool I was spending a good minute packing both sides, pressing it into the ball, and cleaning up excess.
James Diess : Cool bait when warm it’s sticky
Better than rolling bait with fingers
Zachariah Andrews : Best deal
Makes it a lot easier to use
Duncan : Saves money on dough bait!
Makes it super easy to float a size 16 or 14 treble hook, without using too much bait. Works to catch small catfish too.
Justin : It's cheap, buy It!
Not scared to get my hands dirty, but this product allows you to get uniform results with your powerbait. I use a size 16 treble and this mold allows me to get a well-packed "pellet" around the hook that won't fall off during casting, reeling back in, or if a trout decides to "hit" before chowing down. This product allows me to hit that sweet spot in buoyancy so I'm not sitting on the bottom or floating at the top of the water. Easy to use, don't overthink it. Fill half the mold (side with the slit), lay your hook in, slightly over-fill the other side of the mold, and press sides together. The excess bait will squeeze out and your usually left with a perfectly formed ball ready for casting. Yes, sometimes your hook will need re-positioning or it won't be perfectly covered, but it takes 5 seconds to redo the process. Honestly, I catch just as many fish but I waste a lot less powerbait because it doesn't fall off and I don't over apply anymore.
Jaime Vargas : Gotta have it for powerbait
These are great to bait your hooks with. Simple to use, dough stays on the hook, don't get your scent on the bait. Highly recommend this to anyone using dough bait

Power bait tends to stick to your fingers. This tool helps form a nice ball around the hook. Having two sizes was a plus.
