The Net Holster is changing the way anglers are carrying their nets. It is quite simply the new, improved way to carry your landing net. It holds your net securely and out of the way against your back. The Net Holster keeps the net from being caught in bushes or trees while walking and it stops your net from swinging around your back into your face while bending over. Will the clip be secure on a 1.5" belt?
Answer: I have found this to NOT be secure on my belt. I’ve stopped using it. One side disengages and the whole thing start flopping. It’s a no-go. YMMV.
Answer: Yes, that belt should work well with this net holster.
Answer: Yeah, good question and the obvious answer is that the closer the width of the belt to the width of the metal opening, the tighter the holster will be. I wear mine on the 1" strap of my Fishpond Rio Grande Wader Belt and it "bends" it slightly. Great, great product!
Answer: Yes, it will work with belts up to 2". As for "secure", be sure that the fabric is velcro-ed well.

Answer: I believe it’s made in New Zealand . The Smith Creek website says it’s handcrafted there. The net holster works well especially when using a HD police style belt

Answer: The Smith Creek Belt holder works great in place of magnetic releases and cords. Yet, if you have your magnetic release attached to the top of the net, the Smith Creek holder will work.

This product works best with a long handled net. But to find the right adjustment so that the net slides out with ease without falling out while walking down the river is very time consuming. We finally just stopped trying to use it. I'm sure it works great with other nets. We used this product with the fishpond nets. We also are concerned the holder could quickly wear a spot in our waders.

Great product. Very well made. Very easy to take fishing net out of the holster & put back in. But the best thing about it, is that you don't feel the weight of the net while it is in the holster. I just wish I found out about it sooner.

Bottom line: great idea, but it doesn't really work with nets that have short handles. My net is a beautifully made Brodin with a handle that's a bit longer than the width of my hand.
Took this with me out to Pa recently to fish some trout now that the temperatures are down from summer. Got to the side of the creek and put my rod together, screwed down the reel, threaded the line, and donned my waders and boots. Then I pulled this net holster out of my bag and grabbed my belt. This is remarkably easy to attach to the belt - takes a few seconds the first time. I put on the belt and tightened it, then took my net and holstered it.
As I stood there - not even moving - my net pulled away from the vertical (against my back) and leaned outward. I reached around and pulled it out of the holster very easily and re-holstered it - again, no problem at all. But again, my net pulled away from my body by several inches. I couldn't fish or even walk around like this, so I didn't use the net holster.

Bought this item locally and thought I'd write a review here. Nets are just a hassle I guess. This gadget seems like a good idea but the end result is just OK. It tends to slip off my wading belt occasionally or at least one side of the clip will slip off, making the net difficult to reinsert. Also, I wouldn't want to hike a long ways with the net holstered on my hip as it tends to bang around when I'm striding. It is impossible to mount the holster directly in the center of your back because the wading belt loop (on my waders anyway) is in the exact spot I want the holster, preventing placement there.
The holster does a good job of keeping my net handy when I'm actually wading the stream and I don't feel the need to somehow tether the net to my belt or vest, but I've gone back to my Orvis magnetic net keeper as I find that solution better suited for my fishing style.
