Product reviews of Berkley Electric Fillet Fishing Knife (All Models)
Robert : Works as well as any of the others.
The knife works, the two blades are nice touch, especially when you are cleaning smaller fish. I have yet to find a electric fillet knife that seems to handle large volumes of fish and this one has some nice features but falls short on others.
1.Ergonomic handle and sharp blades are certainly a plus
2. "Cigarette" Light attachment is great
3. Nice carry case, although the amount of foam makes repacking a little difficult
4. Before long I developed a short in the cord, I was able to replace the end and it worked.
5. Part of the motor mount is plastic and the motor torque managed to break the plastic. I was able to replace with a metal screw, but not a great design idea.
Clinton Borth : Bad Berkley
I would not suggest this product the battery dies and you can't find a replacement battery anywhere. So now it is a paper weight.

Tim Roening : Three Stars
does not cut beef roasts very good, not enough power.
M. Taylor : Could be better.
The Berkley Deluxe Electric Fillet Knife (BCDEFK) lacks quite a bit of power. Filleting through crappie wasn't the easiest. Had to let off trigger and engage again to finish filleting. Needs more power!!

roger johnson : Five Stars
Better switch than rapala
Elizabeth H. : Don’t buy this.
If I could this knife zero stars I would. It started out bad. I bought the knife, received it, it wouldn’t shut off. I couldn’t stop the blade from running. I sent it back and got a replacement. That one was ok for the first few times I’ve cleaned fish. I’ve used this knife maybe a dozen times. It has gotten progressively worse each time, and it didn’t start out all that great. I’ve used my friends American Angler PRO with the shark blade and it is amazing. That’s what I am replacing this with. It looks pretty, looks well built, but good luck getting through a good bucket of fish without ripping your hair out and breaking the thing in half. I cleaned 10 fish with a friends knife about 20 minutes faster than it took me to clean just 4 fish with this knife. If I could return it, I would.
dria : By far the worst electric knife i've ever used
absolute junk. Couldn't even make it through the first 22 fish i had. Motor had no power and halfway through it would over heat and practically stop working. By far the worst electric knife i've ever used. Saving grace would have been the blades fitting into my Storm base but i couldn't even get that lucky.. Threw the junk in the trash
SpudsSpinnigan : Works well on walleye and pike
This works very well on walleye and pike. We bought two and they both hold the charge well. Takes the fillets off cleanly without any bogging.
Old guy : I works great. There is a flaw however
I bought the 12 volt version since I use t a lot while camping without hookups, I works great. There is a flaw however, the part that connects to the battery and has a cigarette lighter adapter is made very poorly. It has already broken and I have used it only a few times. I fixed it with electrical tape, but it is a cheesy fix. The knife works well though. I would have given it 5 stars if the adapter wasn't made so poorly.
Kevin P. Conley : Useless Junk
I only clean few fish a year so I thought this knife would do. It is amazing how little power it has. As soon as you start cutting into the meat it totally bogs down and forget about cutting through bones. I would not recommend this knife to anyone no matter how small the job. Just so you know I am not against this brand my brother has a Rapala electric knife that costs more and it is great. Doesnt lose power or bog down. He used mine yesterday and he could not believe how useless it is. To be clear mine is the red/black colored Deluxe model with two sized blades, its about $56 on Amazon. If it were $5 you shouldnt buy it.
sam cannon jr. : BAD PRODUCT, will not last
this product looks great but I purchased one that the motor stopped working and Amazon replaced it, yesterday the replacement stopped working correctly. The motor is running but the blades stop moving when you start to fillet the fish. I will not purchase another unit like this one.
Joe Usher : This knife has 0 value when it is brand new
This is the worst knife I ever had in my hand can't get it replaced even if I could it would not be worth receiving
mike : I do much better with a regular fillet knife
Very low powered. Motor wants to die while cutting through a large mouth bass. I do much better with a regular fillet knife. Then when I was done I could not remove the blades to put everything back in the case it came in. I thought I would really like this one with all the power options, but its getting returned.
Amazon Customer : If you love to fish you need to buy one
I love it just what I want. Should have bout one a long time ago.
Amazon Customer : Terrible public relations
This knife is junk. Used it once and it quit working. It only works when the battery is plugged into the charger. I reached out to support 4 times and the site tells me it can't be reached at this time. Wouldn't recommend this product or company to anyone.
Mr. Larry Small : Easy
Sharp
K Lech : Four Stars
A bit on a heavy side but works good
Connie Barber : Would not hesitate to order again.
I just love my Berkley fillet knife. I have used it for well over 1 1/2 years. I fish and fillet fish weekly, or more often. I have not had any issues. I am ordering a new set of blades today.
scotty d campbell : Four Stars
nice
Bradley E. Hattendorf : Keep looking
Gonna give mine away, tried to fillet some gills. Tried 2 gills and got my manual fillet knife to finish the other 13. Hard to hold, hard to keep running, my kitchen electric knife works better.
Andrea : Five Stars
Best knife
Lindsey Ostrander : Bad one in the bunch
This is the second one we’ve bought because we loved the first one.. however this one was defective. The buttons on the side, to release the blades are sticking or jammed and we can’t release the blades. Never had this problem before with the product.. We’ve loved ours in the past. Think we just got a bad one.
Tiffany D Kerns : Not worth it
Wouldn't cut through a bass.
Jesus Z. : Not very happy with the item
It runs out of battery way to fast. I used it for about 10 fishing trips and it just stopped working. I guess it needs a new battery but i charge that thing after every use. This just didn't work for me. Half-way through the fish, it'd run out of battery. Not very happy with the item.
J. Johnson : Junk
The first set of Berkley knives dulled after filet Of 6 fish
The on off switch is cumbersome
I have used a another brand of filet knife for the past 30 years and never had any issues.
Don’t waste your money on this junk
Buy a Rapalla 12 -120 volt filet knife at Walmart and
Never regret it.
Andrew M. : Make your own battery pack for a portable solution
Inexpensive and you can build your own battery pack for a portable solution. I bought two of the Rapala lithium ion knives and they are very unreliable. Stick with this one.
Justin Phelps : I bought this for my father who is a crappie ...
I bought this for my father who is a crappie fisherman. He recently called to inform me that this product was unsatisfactory and asked that I write a review on his behalf.
Michael H. : Poor Product, little power, short battery life.
I purchased this knife in March and used it for the first time in May, it was fully charged and could barley go through a 16" Walleye. Don't waste your money on this product. Purchase a 120V model. Amazon will not take the product back because it has been over 30 days so I am hoping Berkley will help me under their warranty program. I have to say I am a little dissapointed in Amazon, I have spent over $10,000 with them in the last year alone, you would think for a loyal customer they would make an exception to their return policy.
Joe Usher : This knife has 0 value when it is brand new
This is the worst knife I ever had in my hand can't get it replaced even if I could it would not be worth receiving
Diannia A : Great Knife
Easy to use and a great carrying case. I would recommend it for fisherman that want a quick way to fillet
iamtroy : Berkley Vs Rapalla? HA, Not even in the same class! Rapala is a WAY MICKEY MOUSE!
WOW! Way To Go Berkley!!! I have purchased four Rapala fillet knives (for the company I work for) and regret every one of them! The Berkley TurboGlide is WAY BETTER! It has an easier pull for the trigger / The Rapala kills your finger after a couple of minutes. Easier blade release / Rapala blade release breaks and forever holds onto the blade sticking dangerously out of the carrying case. Shall I go on? You get the picture...
Brandi : ... in the 110 volt version but the blades are STUPID I put the blades in today and now they ...
It has enough power in the 110 volt version but the blades are STUPID I put the blades in today and now they are stuck in the knife. Definitely would recommend them if you just wanted junk.
Scorpio1948 : Great for very limited use
When I received my knife I had to return it due to a bad battery. I subsequently bought another of the same knife and yes I do like the knife for limited applications. It will filet about 20 fish before the battery gives out.
I do like the knife. It needs to have an extra battery available and a spare set of blades. My knife does not work on power cord alone yet but I am still getting familiar with the knife. As far as bang for the buck, I would recommend a direct power supply knife as this does not have quite enough horse for the long haul.
New entry 12/24/2013 It is a new day in Texas and guess what, the battery is dead and will not charge, this thing is junk due to the battery.
Clovis Miller : Fillet knife.
The knife works very well.
Billy R. Redus : Great product.
Great product. Had one previously for about 3 years cleaned lots of fish. Expect this one to do the same.
Bradley E. Hattendorf : Keep looking
Gonna give mine away, tried to fillet some gills. Tried 2 gills and got my manual fillet knife to finish the other 13. Hard to hold, hard to keep running, my kitchen electric knife works better.
Donald jones : 2nd fish in the trigger stuck on with no way ...
2nd fish in the trigger stuck on with no way to stop without removing the battery. 2 more fish the blades stopped working, just a grinding noise. Blades very hard to remove. Hopefully just a one time lemon.
roger johnson : Five Stars
Better switch than rapala
Howard Mcfarland : would not recommend this
Switch sticks in on position, have to bang knife on table to shut it off, would not recommend this model
Connie Barber : Would not hesitate to order again.
I just love my Berkley fillet knife. I have used it for well over 1 1/2 years. I fish and fillet fish weekly, or more often. I have not had any issues. I am ordering a new set of blades today.
ken kessler : Pretty sure this would of burned up on 20 fish
Knife was to hot to hold after cleaning 11 crappie ,you get what you pay for .Pretty sure this would of burned up on 20 fish.
The price was good ,but this knife is not for me.Back to the American Angler brand with it's 100.00 price tag ,had one (grey)
that lasted 8 years and would do around 65/70 fish before it got hot.Maybe Berkley has a heavy duty knife ,not sure.
Betbabe : but I like it's ease of use
I have ordered this same knife over and over. It doesn't have the longevity of others I've used, but I like it's ease of use. I fillet a lot of fish. These usually make it about a year.
Amazon Customer : I like that they give you every way possible to power ...
I like that they give you every way possible to power the knife. However there is a problem getting the knife blades out once your done using the knife. I had to push the release buttons so hard that I actually did damage . I purchased two of them and they both had the same problem. I do not recomend this to anyone.
Old guy : I works great. There is a flaw however
