What is the estimated shipping weight on the 12x4 feet version?

Answer: The net weighs 8 oz, as stated in the description. Not sure what the shipping weight would be, as that depends on the weight of the box used in shipping.

What seine poles are best with this net?

Answer: I don't see the poles anymore on here, but I use aluminum 4' poles with holes so you can tie the net onto them.

Answer: I use 4 broom handles wrap the seine around 2 of the broom handles three times and stable it with heavy duty stable gun.

Answer: I went into to woods a cut some nice straght. 2" diameter saplings .....free works best!

Answer: I've used wooden stakes with good results. The slight roughness of the stakes helps keep the ties in place.

Is this good for catching tropical fish (tangs, puffers, etc)? we are looking to take a net to the fl keys to expand our saltwater tank.

Is this mesh size legal in FL. I can only find maximum mesh size nothing about minimum. One would think the minimum would be more important. Mostly I want to catch shrimp for bait and the 1 inch mesh seems to big.

I want to stretch this out at the bottom of a tree where young girls keep falling out of the nest and I want to catch them. Will this work for that? O

Answer: I use mine to catch minnows & does a good job. I would not use it as a catch for any kid, unless I didn't care if the kid was injured or killed. DON'T USE IT TO CATCH KIDS!!!

Nice product. Seems substantial enough for the job. Has weights along one side and floats along the other which look helpful for catching bait. I have not used this for fishing yet but am prepared for the next trip.

This is great. I am using it to replace a large net that was on a netted pole. It was shipped quickly. Which I was as quick trying to fix the pole.

We lost out drag net in hurricane Sandy. It has been in our family for generations (odd thing to loose and feel sad about, but there you go). My 1st trip fishing after loosing the drag net, and I was shocked at the cost of bait!! Oh My Goodness!! Anyway, this is the 1st net I ever bought, so didn't know what I was doing/looking for, but I took a chance and bought this. I used zip ties to connect it to 2 dowel rods (1 at either end), and we were good to go in under 10 minutes. I probably will drill holes in the dowels at some point, but that's just because I'm OCD. We dragged for spearing in the bay, and it was tremendously successful. In 2 days it paid for itself, and dragging for bait is often more fun then fishing (especially with little kids). The bait we were after were about 2 inch long, and a bit under a cm thick, and this net was perfect for that.

What can I say - It works. Got it for the most part for Emergency use when the grids are DOWN to catch bait fish (which I an eat) or fish with either way. Does not take much room in a bugout bag and is light enough not to weigh you down.

these nets are very good nets for small creeks and ponds. my son borrows my husband's net all the time so i purchased this one for my son's birthday. some days he uses it for catching bait fish and other days he uses it just to see what is in the local waters. Nothing bad to say about Douglas Net company. Received the item very quickly---before estimated delivery date. Packaged well. would buy from them again in the future.

I actually didn't use this for the intended purpose! I needed something to cut into 1'x2' pieces and make into nets for a group of cub scouts to go creeking. It was perfect! I think I got 16 nets out of it and the kids loved them. It's tough enough that we'll be able to wash them and use them next year.

I remember these nets from my childhood when we used to catch minnows and blowfish and whatever else we could snare. It's amazing how few children get to enjoy this simple yet totally delightful activity. I purchased a long dowl at Home Depot and cut it in half for the poles (drilled holes in them to tie the lines to them). I've only used the net a couple of times but it seems of decent quality and the 12' length is perfect for kids.
