Made for both the Big Chief and Little Chief top loading and front loading smokers from Smokehouse, this insulation blanket ensures that heating stays even and efficient in cold weather conditions, at or below 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Constructed of two 96 percent Reflect ix film layers bonded to two internal layers of heavy gauge polyethylene bubbles, the insulation blanket holds heat in for better cooking. The insulating blanket wraps around the Little Chief nearly two times and wraps around the Big Chief one time. The blanket leaves the top of the top-loading smoker open so that you can check your food with the blanket on. The blanket removes easily from the front-loading smokers when you need to check your food thanks to its Velcro attachments.

Will it work on Masterbuilt 30?

Answer: If the dimensions match - I bought mine for the Little Chief smoker and it fits perfectly. So check the dimensions for the Little Chief and compare to your Masterbuilt 30.

How does this work with the front load big chief. Would you have to cut to fit front panel?

Answer: Your better off buying the material from the hardware store. Much cheaper and you can make it fit properly. This product doesn’t fit well at all. I was very disappointed

What are the true dimensions of this cover? I have an old Luhr Jensen model, and the dimensions are 24x12x12.

Answer: It's outside on my smoker that I can't get to at the moment, but you can cut it to fit your smoker ! I trimmed it some to fit mine better. It works great even in below zero temps! I love it! Sorry I'm disabled and nobody to help today. The Insulation Blanket will just fit a Big Chief, the dimensions of the Big Chief is 24.5x18x12. Mine has been trimmed for my Little Chief so no help to try to go outside to measure, but hope this helps you sir.

can i put this around my jollys when its cold out?

Answer: You must have pretty big jollies. The flap will help after a few Bud Lights.

Answer: The smoker is great, the insulation blanket doesn't work very well in the cold weather, of course I live in Alaska and it can get quite cold at times. It just doesn't work well in low temps like the twenty's and thirty's.

Answer: These are one size fits all, so if you have a Big Chief Smoker, the Insulation Blanket will go all the way around the unit, and if you have a Little Chief Smoker, it will go around almost twice, with Velcro provided as a closer.

Answer: It's 24" tall 62" long to wrap around the unit, and 5/16" thick.

Answer: The blanket will help retain heat in the smoker no matter what you are smoking. I find the blanket is only needed in cold or windy weather.

Is there a cover for the Mini Chief?

Answer: No, there is no cover with the blanket; it is simply a single piece which wraps around the outside of the Mini Chief unit during smoking to retain heat--not over the top. Hope this helps. Think of it as a "muffler" for your smoker.

Answer: I guess your're referring to the insulated jack, It appears to me as a doubled sided foil with insulation. I also wrap a packing quilt around it in cold weather for excellent results.

Answer: It's just a insulted cover - so be aware of the temperature of your smoker. The one this blanket fits on does not exceed 165 degrees

Answer: I don't know. This particular item was designed for the smoker that is encased in the photo. I can recommend just buying the reflective bubble wrap stuff and making your own. You can find that at any hardware store. Make sure to use metal foil tape for the seams. Good luck!

DUDE I LOVE MY BIG CHIEF! BUT..........This insulation blanket was way overpriced and could at least be put together to slide over the top rather than having to engineer it to stay together with a very minimal amount of included Velcro tape pieces. It is literally the same material as a auto sun shade that I purchased for $6 taped into a cardboard box and it worked wonders! I do absolutely recommend some sort of insulator on this smoker makes it way more consistent as far as temp. I think I would have been ok at $15-$20 as long as it required no assembly. $30 way to much!

I purchased some extra velcro closures to attach to it! Bought it for the Little Chief, I wrapped it around the smoker with just a little extra room, it fits good and with the extra velcro closures I am able to grab 2 adjacent corner and lift it off and slide it back on my Front Loading Little Chief without opening the closures. I have smoked over 100lbs of Salmon in it so far this summer at temps of 25 to 75F with the blanket on and got a great product every time. The blanket keeps the temp even and the time necessary to smoke the salmon was consistent from batch to batch in that outside temp range! Will be interesting to see how well it does in Winter when temp get close to 0 or below !!

I love my big chiefs but cold-smoking in cold weather is unpredictable and requires lots of monitoring and takes hours, this makes everything more even and the heat waaay more stable because.. I do need to have at least 140° to get the fish properly textured. Finishing in the oven doesn’t do it, though I do that as a kill step only for core temp over 160° for just a short time

Works well but price is very high. A roll of Reflectix from home Depot will cost you less and leave you a lot of leftover. Pictures of my home made version... probably about $5-$8 in materials and 1 hour of my time, plus it is custom fit for my little chief.
I must say, this keeps your smoker warm even during cold windy days.

I understand how a lot of people think this is overpriced but if you have a cheaper way go ahead no one is forceing you go buy this. It works very well. I used it in 30 degree weather to smoke some rainbow trout and it did the job. I recommend it to anyone who wants a simple way of modifying your smoke for winter use. You can also just use the box your smoke came in, ive also seen people use metal 30 gallon trash cans upside down or even just old blankets. Honestly there are some free options but this fits nicely on the little chief i think it is worth it.

Hobbyist : Speeds up cooking time in the smoker.

Keep in mind that this is used on a hot smoker and intended to keep the heat in... it does. My smoker time was greatly reduced and you need to be aware of that. I waited a little too long to check and my turkey breasts were getting dry and hard.

The heat was increased so much that the adhesive tabs of the Velcro released... all of them on the vertical seam. I think I may have to strip off the adhesive and use household cement to reattach them. They're on for now, just stuck back into place, but I bet they'll come off again next time.

I bought the smaller Masterbuilt electric smoker and thought I would try this out. It does NOT fit Masterbuilt but in all fairness that is not the brand the blanket is for. I wanted some insulation on the top of the smoker where the heat goes but this isn't even meant for the top of the smoker it is made for. I did have to get the scissors out and use what I could for the top and back. There is enough material for the sides but I have to figure out how to afix it.

This is the only item my husband wanted for Christmas. It arrived quickly, in November so I wrapped it up and set it aside until we put up a Christmas tree. But before that happened my husband was given several large fish he wanted to smoke. Out came the smoker and out came the Christmas present. It fit the smoker and would have worked great if the temperature had not dropped into the teens. My husband is still learning the tricks to 'good smoking' and this is just another lesson learned. I especially like the blanket because he was wrapping his smoker in old bathroom towels to keep the heat in. They would have to be washed twice to remove the smoke smell.

I have been using the Smokehouse Insulation Blanket for the past few weeks and am very pleased with it. Although it appears pretty flimsy it worked well. Due to my brining and smoking miscalculation I was up until 3:00 in the morning smoking a few salmon. The weather was about 30 degrees with a little wind. Without the blanket I don't think I would have followed through with the smoking but with the blanket it kept the temperature perfect. If you're industrious and have any technical skill at all you could easily make one of these but being lazy I bought one and am pleased with it

The Smokehouse Products Electric Smoker Insulation Blanket is good if you want to slightly shorten the time for smoking and you can't find a loose fitting cardboard box. I use it on the Little Chief smoker. I was using the cardboard box the Little Chief came in until it got rain-soaked. The blanket only wraps around--there is no top to it so it doesn't work as well as the cardboard box. If you are concerned that the cardboard box is a fire hazard cut the bottom out. The blanket looks like silver bubble wrap with none of the melting properties of bubble wrap. It's tough to get it to wrap around a square smoker so it leaves gaps at each of the 4 corners. The blanket is a waste of money at $10 much less $35. The blanket does have cut outs for the front opening and for the electric cord. (So will your cardboard box once you cut the slots for the front opening and the cord.) All in all if you want to slightly shorten the time for smoking get a loose fitting cardboard box and, if necessary cut out the bottom.

This item works great for it's intended purpose, though not exactly what I expected (I expected a custom-fit sleeve that would slide over the top of my top-loading Big-Chief smoker. It comes as a roll of mylar-covered bubblewrap insulation, and some stick-on Velcro tabs. You then stretch it around your smoker and stick it together. You could easily make this yourself a lot cheaper, but this saves you a bit of time and effort as it's the right material and has the bottom pan-loading door and plug-in areas pre-cut. All said, it allows you to get good results out of your smoker when the temps drop down in the winter. Keeps the smoker very warm.

This item arrived a day late and was as cheaply made as it possibly could be. The "velcro buttons" were not included in the packaging, the product is essentially a sheet of flat bubble wrap lined in heat retardant material. I sent mine back, a beach towel probably would work better.

Is one continuous sheet of reflective, aluminized bubble pack insulation with glue on velcro tabs for sizing the wrap around the sides, and not the top of the Smoker. It can fit multiple brands and types of smokers of they are withing its maximum dimensions. It has partially cut out tabs set a locations compatible with Big/Little Chief smoker access points. I bought it to use on another major brand of smoker that doesn't sell its own insulating blanket. This item is essential for anything other than cold smoking with the Chief smokers, if the temperature at the smoking location is under 75+'F or there's a breeze. Big & Little Chief electric smoker coils are pretty low watt. Thus while they are very reliable smokers, they don't generate enough/much cooking heat, except ona very hot calm day, unless you use this blanket.

It cooked my salmon, in cold weather without the exterior cold weather blanket. I had hoped for cold-smoke, and it is hot smoke.
I will try other customer’s suggestion to leave the cover open at the bottom and see if that works.
