Questions about Coghlan's Rectangular Mosquito Net
Q:
What are the dimensions of the net?
Answer: According to reports I've seen, the dimensions are 63" x 78" x 59" or 160 x 200 x 150 cm. Mine is permanently installed and stretched out of shape so no good to measure it. It does cover the whole of my bed which is a queen size frame. It is stretched out of shape so my guess is that it would fit a full size bed better.
Answer: The dimensions are 63" x 78" x 59" (LWH)
Answer: Sorry, I do not have the actual dimensions. I can tell you that two cots aside one another will fit perfectly - and, you cannot stand up inside. I'm 5'11" and I would crouch quite a bit to crawl into a cot. So you know, the net does a fairly adequate job with mosquitoes, but does not stop black flies.
Answer: The net is barely the same size as a double bed
Answer: 63"Deep X 79"Wide X 59"High
Q:
What's the differance between single wide 180 and the single wide 240 mesh?
Answer: Hi there. The numbers - 180 and 240 - refer to the number of holes per square inch so the larger the number, the more holes and therefore the holes will be smaller as the number increases which in turn prevents smaller and smaller insects from getting through the mesh. Thanks for your interest in Coghlan's products.
Answer: Sorry didn't buy both to know the difference.
Q:
Use with a bivy and tarp? Or will it get holes quickly.
Answer: It has metal rings sewn in to tie it off as a shelter. Its durable material I used it as a mosquito ghillie suit it gets caught on branch's and razor wire when walking its more fitted for fixed position use as intended. Keeps the South Florida bugs out I don't know how it would do against Georgia No-seums though.
Answer: it is a 'hanging room' style netting, and the netting, while it's perfect for keeping small flying bugs out, can be damaged easily by pets ( cats here). we screened in our porch ( small balcony) and was great.
Q:
Do these increase temperature a lot? In other words, if it is hot out, will this do much to block air flow and make it feel hotter inside the net?
Answer: Yes it blocks some, but the trade off is getting bitten and have parasites or disease injected into your body that can cause a lifetime of misery.
Answer: I don't think so. I use them to cover my blueberry bushes. There are no issues.
Q:
Is there a zipper or opening for access?
Answer: No zippers just round metal hooks to hang it from on four corners.
Answer: no, just tie closure
Answer: No. You have to lift it up
Q:
Does have a floor? Does it have an entrance that zips or what?
Answer: No it doesn't have a floor. Also no zipper. You just have to lift it up to get in and out.
Answer: This does not have a floor. It is tall enough to reach the top of the tent to floor (there was even room to spare, so we tucked the edges under the bunk on the back and side. My son used it for platform tent camping. It has an overlapped area that works as the door. It was very effective for my son. He was the envy of the other scouts, as he was not bothered by nighttime bugs.
Answer: No it does not have a floor or a zipper.
Answer: No it doesn't have either a floor or entrance as such. I use mine as a throw over cover for my plastic greenhouse of the same size, when the plastic door of my greenhouse is unzipped this mosquito net allows air to circulate freely without bugs getting in. You have to lift it up manually to get in, there is NO door. What you see in the picture is what you get. What you don't see is that it will not stand up by itself, it has metal rings on either side that you would need to attach to something stable to enable it to stand upright by itself.
Answer: It doesn't not have a sturdy floor, but a screen floor, Yes, entry zips
Answer: No floor. you really don't want a mess floor. A ground cover is much more durable. If there was a permanent floor then there would have to be a door. An integrity loss for keeping pests out.
Q:
Will this net also keep out spiders?
Answer: Hello. Thank you for your interest in Coghlan's products. As noted by others, unless the spiders are smaller than flying insects, they will not be able to get through this netting. They can however get under the net unless it is secured at ground level and obviously if the spiders are already on the inside of the net, it will impede their ability to exit.
Answer: There is a very fine mesh in this net, no spider is going to go through it. You will have to tuck in the bottom of it to make sure nothing gets under it where it meets the ground, but the same goes for every net.
Answer: If spiders try to come in from the outside of the net, yes, But if they are already in the area of the netting, no. Crawling insects could conceivably be in the net area when you hang it. I have a spider in mine, right now.
Q:
Where do you get the poles for the mosquito netting?
Answer: Hello and thank you for your interest in our products. If using poles for setup, they would be secured to the metal rings with guy lines out from the pole to the ground for a taut pitch. If you have any additional questions, feel free to contact us directly at: reception@coghlans.com.
Answer: There are no poles. You tie each corner up & pull them tight.
Q:
Would the double netting work for a twin bed
Answer: Hi there. Thanks for your interest in our products. The Double Wide Rectangular Mosquito Net is 78 inches long by 63 inches wide and the typical twin bed is 75 inches long by 38 inches wide so as others have noted, our net will easily fit over a twin bed.
Answer: Yes as long as you have something to 'hang' it from. The "Double' means twice as wide, not double thickness. The 'single wide' would serve your purpose but yes, the double could still fit loosely over a twin bed. Tuck in the sides?
Answer: yes, the double could still fit loosely over a twin bed
Answer: I purchased the single size.it has plastic rings attached to the four corners of the netting to help hanging the netting over the bed....I would guess the double size also has the rings....so I guess you could use a double but you would have extra netting hanging down in the middle......I hope this helps???
Answer: Meant for a twin
Q:
Will this work with a hammock
Answer: It might work if you take the time to make it work...if you just install it, as its packaged, over a free standing hammock, sure. If you install it, as packaged, you wouldn't be able to use it with a regular hammock...it is possible with a bit of ingenuity
Answer: Yes absolutely, some Youtubers used this product 'upside down' with their hammocks. See links below for step by step instructions on how they did it.
Answer: It could, and I have used one LIKE IT before just for that. It will hang long on the sides, but not touch the ground on the bed and foot ends due to the hammock ropes, unless it's a frame swung hammock.
Answer: Look at the illustration and use your one brain cell to figure it out.
Answer: Absolutly!
Q:
Can it be used inside
Answer: Yes
Q:
Can I lay this out flat like a sheet, or is it sewn into a box shape with corners?
Answer: Sewn into a box shape.
Answer: Box shape, with small rings on the four corners to facilitate hanging. It works well over a bed.
Answer: Box shaped with cornors.
Q:
Which net gives more visibility to see the stars at night, the 180 or the 240?
Answer: Both
Q:
Can this be used with a hammock?
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: No it cannot. Or not without a suspension system to move with the hammock.
Answer: You'd have to rig it a bit but wouldn't you have to do that with anything with a hammock? You'd have to have to pin it together under the ropes on each end where they would hold up the netting. The product is basically a large netted box with an open bottom.
Answer: Read the reviews, its not meant to but you can rig it up. I purchased this net as a cheap alternative to a hammock net. I rigged this netting to hang/suspend over my hammock for camping. Its big and packs small. good deal.
Answer: It would probably be a little awkward because it isnt designed for that, but Im sure you could jimmy rig it so no bugs could get in. The biggest thing would be trying to attach the bottom to your hamoc because the bottom is just open
Q:
What is the weight of the single wide 240 mesh?
Answer: Very light.
Answer: almost nothing
Q:
Would this fit over a full size bed?
Answer: Hi Holly. The dimensions of a Full size "Mattress" is 54" wide x 74" long. The set up dimensions of the "Double Wide Mosquito Net" is 62"wide x 78" long and 59" tall. It should easily fit over a full sized mattress. However, if the bed frame around the mattress is larger than the mosquito net dimensions I have indicated, there may be a problem but as I stated, it will fit over a full size mattress.
Answer: I bought this for a queen size air mattress. Ed
Answer: No, more the size of a twin
Answer: Yes..for a full
Q:
Which mesh is finer? The 240 or 180?
Answer: They seem the same material to me. I may be wrong, thought.
Q:
Double wide packed size?
Answer: I don’t understand what the question is.
Answer: 5x10 ish. Not good unless thats your complete shelter? No ground ties...
Q:
Is it embedded with chemicals?
Answer: Mosquito netting only, no chemicals for bug control.
Answer: No it's just a net, no chemicals
Answer: Noooooo. This is a very good, clean, ready to use piece of bedding, that protects you from any kind of bugs that can bother you while sleeping.
Q:
Is 6.7 ounces correct for the weight of this item?
Answer: I think that's about right. It really is light weight. I used it as a cover for a 6ft plastic greenhouse, worked perfectly for that.
Answer: I would assume it is correct, but I purchased it over a year ago and left it behind at the island I was visiting
Answer: I just took one out of the box and put it on a postal scale. It weighed 14.3 ozs including the packaging it comes in as it was unopened.
Q:
Where is this item manufactured?
Answer: I don't know, but it was a great thing to have when my son went Boy Scout Camping
Q:
Could I use this over a bed hanging from the ceiling?
Answer: It would probably work for a twin sized bed
Answer: I would imagine you could. We haven't really been faced with that question before. Necessity is the mother of invention though so I would say yes to answer your question.
Answer: Yes it is definitely long enough for that
Q:
Can I use this without hanging it up? Going on a trip where we cannot use hooks to anchor it (sleeping is inside a building)?
Answer: Hello and thank you for your interest in our products. Our mosquito nets are not free standing and are intended to be hung. While you could sleep under them without hanging, they would be flat on skin so mosquitos and other insects would still be able to bite through. If you have any additional questions, feel free to email us directly at: reception@coghlans.com
Answer: Yep you sure can use it without hanging it ....if it contacts your skin, the skeeters proboscus will be able to reach you tho....use some sticks or stones to get it 1" away from skin contact
Answer: Easy peasy.
Q:
Could it be used over a hammock- type swing chair??
Answer: Hi there. If the hammock chair were freestanding, depending on the height, our Mosquito Net could accommodate it, however if the chair needs to be suspended from a tree or a tall attachment point that would necessitate possibly having to cut a hole in the top, we wouldn't recommend it for this type of application.
Answer: Hung OVER a hammock, yes. A 'swing-type chair' -- don't know. It would be easy to wear a hole in it if continually rubbed/brushed/pulled against. If used to just hang over an area, it is great.
Answer: I don't think ot would be nearly strong enough even if doubled up probably not your best bet to use as a hammock or chair.
Answer: I think it depends. It will need to make it to the ground so you want to make sure that it's not too short. You also may need to alter it to let hammock/swing mounts go through the material.
Q:
Would the backwoods doublewide large enough to suspend from our Micro Minnie Winnebago's awning???
Answer: Hello and thank you for your interest in our products. Not being familiar with your Winnebago, we wouldn't be able to determine if the Double Wide Mosquito net would be sufficient to cover your awning. The dimensions are as follows: Size: 78 x 63 x 59 inches (LxWxH) If you have any additional questions, please contact us directly at reception@coghlans.com
Answer: You should be able to hang it from underneath. Heck out of the bug's and rain that's awesome,!!! Blessings to you and your family ???? ????????
Q:
Would a double wide one cover a queen mattress
Answer: Probably, but not well. Buy one designed for a bed.
Q:
What about NoSeeUms --- some say ok others say not good?
Answer: The mesh is tight, noseeums - noproblems
Answer: It depends on what you think is a no-see-um. The opening in the mesh is 0.2cm. There are plenty of bugs that can get through that size mesh. If you're inside and you have good screens, not much will get through. Outside is another story. The mesh might stop the average gnat or it might not - I couldn't find any information on width of small things. I have the white net so I'd be prey to anything that liked light. If you use the dark one, you might have less problems since many of the no-see-ums are attracted to light.
Answer: NoSeeUms are really small, so they can fit through the holes in the net. However, they don't usually come out during the night, just at dusk...
Answer: noseeums are amazingly unstoppable!... nothing i know will stop them
Answer: Kept them out on our trip. We had bugs, but it was from getting into the screen.
Answer: I had no problems with any pests after using net, many before!
Q:
Does the 240 mesh version protect against no-see-ums/sand fleas? The are much smaller than mosquitos. Want this for southern beach house.
Answer: I would think so, but have not tested this netting. Appears to have smaller holes than standard screens. They state “240 holes per square inch” if that helps.
Answer: Mosquito yes. Sand fleas dont know. Get the sawyer spray which will protect for up to 6 weeks.
Q:
What is the material this mesh is made out of?
Answer: ultra fine 196 polyester mesh
Answer: Your answer is in the description section of product.
Q:
Can I use it with my Bimini top on my pontoon?
Answer: Stationary maybe? Not moving.. Have to tie it to the inside.
Q:
I want to use this for a hammock, should i get a single or double?
Answer: Single should do.
Q:
what is the size
Answer: I don't remember the actually size but it was large enough to cover a twin camp bed. And was hung from the top of the scout tent
Answer: It fits a full/queen size bed
Answer: It is listed on the package. 59" heighth, 63" width, and 78" length
Answer: Not sure what the question is since the dimensions are shown in the listing. I believe the double fits over the width and length of a normal double bed. It took me awhile to set up since I was trying to hang it from a canopy. It may be easier to do in a room setting and you would probably need a step ladder to help hand the netting. The best advice in setting up the netting is to take your time and dont rush the installation or you may end up putting holes in it, thus defeating the purpose for which it was intended.
Answer: Read the listing.
Q:
Will it work if i just cover myself with it sitting in a regular chair, or will it have it be hung over me?
Answer: Not sure this was actually meant to just cover yourself even sitting on a chair . . . that would be rather uncomfortable. It comes with hooks to hang over you which is the best way to use it. I bought mine to use for my puppy's playpen. I put it under a shelter and hook up the net above on the frame of the canopy.
Answer: It would feel uncomfortable on your skin, especially if you are hot and sweaty. I think you will want to hang it somehow.
Answer: It needs to be suspended over you. If it lays against you the mosquito can still bite you.
Q:
What is the actual mesh size? how many holes per square inch?
Answer: 240 holes
Answer: The description says 240 which is okay for mosquito's but it does, and has, allowed a few no-see'ums (very small nats) in. It is a very good net but you must handle with care not to rip or tear it. Worth the money.
Answer: We're enjoying it...as long as those bloodsuckers can't come in , good enough for us!????????
Q:
Does anyone sell this in Black (color) -- you see out much easier!?
Q:
Will this fit over a tent
Answer: Hello and thank you for your interest in our products. Simply put, it will depend on the size of the tent you wish to cover with the mosquito net. If it is sized at or smaller than 63x78x59 inches, then the net should be sufficiently large enough to cover it. If you have any additional questions, feel free to contact us directly at: reception@coghlans.com
Answer: May be a two person or back packing tent.
Answer: A pup tent it will. I love mine on summer nights. A line between two tree's I'll hang the bug net then a tarp over it. Lot's of fresh air and no bugs!!
Answer: It’s about enough to cover a twin size bed and that’s all.
Answer: No
Q:
Are the holes small enough to keep aphids out?
Answer: I can't see them getting through. The holes are tiny. I've had nothing get thru so far. Hope this helps. Blessings ???? ????????
Q:
Double wide packed size?
Answer: I don’t understand what the question is.
Answer: 5x10 ish. Not good unless thats your complete shelter? No ground ties...
Q:
Do you have mosquito netting for the 15 foot triple patio umbrella that you sell?
Q:
can anyone tell me the exact weight of this netting without the cords?
Answer: 14.9 oz with stuff sack for the double.
Q:
Can you just throw this over you like a blanket instead of setting it up?
Answer: Thank you for your question but I’m unsure if you can throw it over like a blanket. You can contact the manufacturer.
Answer: I would not. The holes are small but if is laying on your skin the mosquitoes can bite through, they just cannot fly through.
Answer: No. The mosquitos can still bite you through the small holes in the net. It is worth setting up completely.
Answer: Not really; it would get all tangled in you and bedclothes. Very light and needs to be tacked or fastened to walls and things with included hardware.
Answer: You sure could. It covers a lot of area.
Answer: No, It need to be pinned up. I would feel closed in if it was over me.
Answer: Yes, I would say you can.
Q:
does it have a zipper door ? how do you get in and out Thanks
Answer: No zipper door. It's really just a big mosquito curtain and you lift it to get in and out. It hangs and is not like a structured tent. But it has worked very well for us as a mosquito shelter for our outdoor playhouse and we have even had sleep overs out there and not been bitten
Answer: No zippers. You need to lift the bottom and slide under it. Keeps the mosquitos off you either way.
Answer: It does not have a door at all. You just lift it from the floor.
Answer: There is no door, you have to lift up a side or end to get in.
Answer: No zipper. Lift screen
Answer: No. You have to lift the sides up:-). I would rate the product 3stars because after a wash the thread kind of got pulled here and there. Also a bobbin hair pin from my hair got caught and pulled a thread really bad that it looks Awkward now .
Q:
Is it coated with any chemicals?
Answer: Its not. I do spray it with sawyer repellent before I take it out or every six weeks...as necessary.
Q:
Can the seller or any customer confirm where is this product made? China?
Answer: I don't know. This was a gift for my grandson. I don't have the packaging to see where it was made.
Q:
it says "double wide" but double what? no overall measurements provided- size info please!
Answer: It says right on the photo of the package... 78" long, 63" wide and 59" high.
Answer: I put this on a double bed and it fit perfectly. It might fit a queen-sized bed. It works best on a bed with bed posts. I put rubber bands around the netting at each of the four posts so it wouldn't sink down on my face during the night.
Answer: I have a full size mattress over which it fits nicely. It's hard to measure it so this is approximate: I got about 76 inches for the long side and 64 for the short. It's at least five feet high. I put it up as soon as I got it, modified the corners and made a semi-permanent installation so the lengths are a bit shorter than they were when it was new. Also it's stretchy so that will alter the results after it's been used. That's why there are no measurements in my review.
Answer: It is just barely the size of a double bed.
Answer: Also need to know the size in inches.
Q:
What's with the chromium carcinogenic warning on the package, that wasn't on the image?
Answer: I'm trying hard to find that out. Wondering if the chromium is in the hanging rings or in the mesh itself. Knowing if Coughlan headnet carries same warning would answer my questions. Anybody have a headnet?
Answer: Did not notice, and discarded the original package a while ago. Thanks for bring it up.
Answer: I would think it’s got something to do with California and all the laws and regulations they have. Just my thought, I’m actually using mine this week at Boy Scout summer camp. And used it last year. It’s a great item.
Q:
Picture says 240 mesh polyester net, text description to the right of the picture says 196, and the product description says 156? What do you actually end up getting?
Answer: I don't know the thread count, but it's a good product. Keeps out bugs and doesn't tear. It held up for two seasons and I expect it will last a few more.
Q:
Does it protect against no see-ums?
Answer: I am not real sure, but I have been quite shocked at how this has kept bugs off my plants! Inside the garden I made I can say that I have not seen any of those pesky no see-ums.
Answer: I used it as a cover for my young plants which were being eaten alive by minute flying bugs that were laying eggs on them that eventually hatched into plant eating monsters. No more bugs since I started using this net so it worked for me! Hope this helps!
Answer: Yes, it should, i didnt have any bites, and they wete horrific.
Product reviews of Coghlan's Rectangular Mosquito Net
Amazon Customer : Really big!
This is like a tent, we are using it like a screen on the back of our boat at night. Good purchase.
Rosie : Doesn't help mosquitos problem in Texas!
Not great. The mosquitos still fly in underneath and then you are really stuck as you are locked in with a mosquito eating you up. It needs weights at the bottom and much better support BUT for the price what did I expect. At least they are trying.
Jim.Moor : great net
Double-check the size you need. It's pretty good size but will only fit over certain beds.
Great for camping & cots.
Bugs don't get in, but the air still flows through well. Works so good I got the sngle one as well.
FYI, I made a simple frame out of schedule 40 pvc pipe. Total cost was like $10.
EzRock : It was good enough for my thru hike of the Appalachian trail!
While thruhiking the Appalachian trail I had been cowboy camping for the first 1200 miles with just a tarp, hammock and UL sleeping bag. I added a headset in New Jersey but by the time I reached Connecticut the mosquitoes became fierce, I mean they were able to bite me right thru my hammock kinda fierce. I then ordered this Coghlan net and fashioned an envelope for my hammock with it and a ridge line of paracord. It absolutely worked extremely well for what I needed it for! And for the money I spent it was worth its weight in gold! If you have any questions relating to the AT or long distance hiking in general feel free to contact me at ATezRock AT Gmail Thanks for a great deal on this net. Highly recommended!
W K S : Stay bug free in bed
Worked great for Boy Scout camp. My son and I were in army style canvas tents with tied doors no zippers. Hung the netting over our beds and were bug free all week while sleeping.
Bruce Chambers : I'm using for projector material
I'm not actually using this for it's mosquito protective properties, so I can't comment on that. I'm using it a an outdoor, rear projection screen for some AtmosFear FX. I wanted an inexpensive screen that would be difficult to see in the dark but was thick enough to display an image. They sell special screens for this purpose that are 3-4 times more expensive. It does the job well and I'm very pleased with it.
TONYA HUNT : Needs to be a little bit longer
It was to small for what I needed
TCooper : Alternate use than for mosquitos...
We used the mosquito netting to keep cats out of our garden. We put up a pvc frame and it has worked great. Now that the plants are older we'll need to either make holes in the netting so bees can get in or adjust it around the frame differently. It is very effective to keep bugs and neighborhood cats out, should you so desire.
Famous Artist Music : Giving a bad review
Ordered 2 of these, one came with a mesh stuff sack the other didnt.. BAD REVIEW FOR YOU!
Chris : Will purchase again.
I have portable dog playpen and I have mosquitoes too. I rather do without the later. I love my summer nights and so do the dogs but mosquitos do ruin it all. I load on bug spray but that isnt safe for my furbabies and doubtly for me. This net covers their portable playpen so well that I will order a second one for back up. It smells weird at first but its outdoor use so it will air out. The material is on the delicate side howerever it is a fine netting and it is to be expected to gave care with it. The dogs dont seem to mind it and they still get to take in every passing squirrel and rabbit.
ScrappyDew : ordered for scout camp
purchased 2 of these for my boys to take to scout camp. works great and keeps them from getting buggy while they sleep.
Sandy Carter : I used this for 3 seasons!
I used this as a cover for my milkweed for my butterfly garden. It worked very well! It held up very well for 3 seasons! I recommend this product, because for the price, I feel like I got my money's worth.
Andy Osborn : Slightly disappointed by the bulk - UPDATE
I haven't used this net yet but I wanted to comment on the size and bulk. In the packaging it is 9x12x2 inches. It won't really compress anymore either.
I can't recommend this for lightweight backpacking/camping but it's probably fine for other purposes.
I hope to update this review after using for a while.
--UPDATE--
So I found out that some of the bulk was because there were a few peices of cardboard in the packaging to keep it stiff. After removing that it still is fairly bulky but this is a huge mosquito net. I bought an XS 4 liter and this thing fits perfectly in it (the waterproof stuff sac PodSacs sells would compress even further).
I attached a picture of the net in the stuff sac so you can see how big/small it is.
With the ultralite stuff sac it weights 14.25 oz.
Three1Fo : 2004 Chev. Avalanche
A little unconventional, but I recently used this bad boy on a float trip. Instead of popping a tent, I draped this thing over the cab of my Avalanche and stretched across the backseat. First, I pulled the back window, then I rolled down one of the rear side windows 1/2 way. I'm 5'11" 170lbs. and stretched comfortably across my back seat. When it started to rain, I put the side window back up. Since my truck was parked on a slight incline and considering the overhang of the sail panels, no water got into the cab. And the moisture helped the net stick to the cab even better! I only draped the net over the back window and one read side window. This gave me easy access to exiting the other door when needed. I ran it through the washer, hung it out to dry, and it's ready to rock again! Even though I may opt for the freedom of a dome tent, this is not a bad way to go if you're in a pinch.
steve kownacki : Not just for camping - BLUEBERRIES ARE SAVED!
We typically lose 50% of our blueberries to catbirds and robins. Tried lots of things and that black, 1" plastic mesh is awful - gets caught in the bush, you can hardly see it, basically trash at the end of the season. Commercial growers use Tobacco Netting, but it's hard to come by for some reason. Doing some Amazon research, I decided a tent netting. Arrived yesterday and works beautifully! I'll be able to gather at the base so no birds can get in. WOOT! Bushes are 4' wide and 6' tall. Fine mesh doesn't get caught in branches. Easily removed for picking.
Amazon Customer : Great for a baby camper
I used it under our 10x10 canopy to keep the bees and masquitos away from baby while he played in his play pen.
It was a way cheaper option than getting a pop up net. It is also easy to get to the baby quickly without letting in the bugs. There was enough room for his high chair and a chair for me to sit down and feed him.
CEG : Happy Camper ...
Perfect for camping when you really want to be completely outdoors! Nice to be able to see the moon and the stars, which is often not possible in a tent. Kept the bugs out! Happy camper ...
TheShadyside : Used for our Hammocks
We used ours to cover our hammocks. If you wrap string on corners or anwhere on the bottom you want you can attach a tent peg to the string to secure it to ground. We also just cut a small incision to get tge rope of the hammock in the net. We then used a string to tie off where the incision was to keep bugs out. Yep, we are geniuses. If you have a dog it can sleep under your hammock too. I love to be in the outdoors, but I hate mosquitoes so this is great. We just made it Perfect. Lol.
Amazon Customer : Great for scout camp
Perfect fit for my scouts to take to camp with them.
We used 4’ Wooden dowels with plastic water bottles on the top to hold the net up off the bed. I attached the poles to their bunk or cot with zip ties.
For my daughter, I ended up using the string to suspend it from the rafters. Either way, they both stayed bug-free for the week!
BSJ : Good value no frills
Good value includes cord and attachments
Jrob24 : Great bug netting for tomatoes
I use this as insect deterrent for my tomato plants. It drapes much better and is taller than just a sheet of butterfly netting which I have to wrap and wrap. I will probably buy another one for other plants.
Rolando Nispiros : Perfect for my needs
I use it to put over my camper shell opening. Works great!
Nick : Decent net, made into hammock net
The netting is a little on the cheap side, especially since I found I can get yardage of noseeum for less money. But this net worked out for what I needed. I cut the top out, cut the net into two halves, and sewed it up into a net for my hammock. There were no nets on the market at the time of purchase that would fit over my 10 1/2 foot hammock, so I had to make one. Of course now there are nets that fit, and kits available to make your own for just a couple dollars more than this net, but again, not at the time.
Ken D. Taylor : Coglan's Mosquito Netting
This one has not been opened yet, but we have previously used Coghlan's Mosquito netting for beds at our cabin & they are marvellous. The little critters can buzz away, but can't get in, to eat us alive. Little awkward getting in & out, but there is no real solution for that. Small inconvenience for no bites.
Candid Reviewer : Affordable, no frills, large mosquito net--good value, but probably not adequate for "no see ums"
The Coghlan's Double Mosquito Net is a good value in a large (78"L x 63"W x 59"H), no frills, reasonably durable net shelter.
DECENT PROTECTION, BUT NOT IDEAL FOR "NO SEE UMS"
The netting has 240 holes per square inch and the holes are about the same diameter as the slender ink pen inserts inside a typical ball point pen. Of course, that means the netting is probably not fine enough to combat no-see-ums (i.e., the tiniest biting insects), but it will hold off larger mosquitoes, flies, spiders, and other such creepy crawlers. If you're planning to use this in an area where no-see-ums are a problem, I would probably seek out a better, no-see-um-rated solution. For general camp use, however, this netting should dramatically improve your comfort and protection from insects for its affordable price. It also seems reasonably durable compared with other netting I've handled, so if treated with some care, it should hold up fairly well.
MODERATE WEIGHT
This net weighs in at a moderately "hefty" 11.3 oz. (321g), or just shy of three-quarters of a pound. Not great by ultralight standards, but not in light of its generous rectangular size and the fact that it offers coverage on five sides (no floor, though). There are certainly lighter net shelters on the market, such as the Sea to Summit brand, but they cost considerably more and offer less usable space. If every gram matters to you, the extra expense might be worth it, or you could try cutting down this shelter into smaller, lighter pieces, or you could choose the more typical ultralight solution of packing a headnet only. In my case, I bought it to provide bug protection for myself and my three daughters when we camp under a tarp, and I didn't want something that would make us feel "confined" if we end up having to use it a lot. I also think it will work nicely during the day draped over a picnic area if the flies won't let us eat in peace. So I consider the weight acceptable for those needs. (If I were solo camping, I'd probably cut it down to half or even one-third the size to save weight/bulk.)
NO FRILLS
Unlike many other netting structures, there are no poles or reinforced tie outs here. The netting sets up by tying off the corners using the six keyring-sized metal loops around the top perimeter or "roof" (one ring in each corner, plus one in the center of each of the two longer sides). Since the netting is so light and doesn't need to shed wind or water the way a tarp would, there's no reason to tie it very tightly. That's good because the tie-off points seem a bit delicate, sewn as they are into a few folds of bare netting, rather than not reinforced with nylon or some other structural reinforcement as heavier duty net shelters often are. I'm fine with that, as my intended usage is to hang it under a tarp, where it will be well protected from wind and elements. If you were to leave it set up unprotected in windy conditions, however, I suspect there is a good chance the flapping of the netting would eventually allow the metal rings to "saw" through and break away.
CONCLUSION
If you want a cheap, no frills, reasonably durable, and generously sized net to fend off normal-sized insects, this is a good bet. If you're worried about no-see-ums or want a durable shelter that can be left up for days and stand up to less-than-mild conditions if left out and neglected, I'd keep looking. It suits my purposes fine, so I'm happy with my purchase.
LP : Chemical Warning
I just received this product and there is chemical warning on the front that is not shown in the packaging photo stating the "product can expose you to chemicals including Chromium, which is known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm". I went back and looked at the listing since I definitely didn't remember seeing that in the listing and finally found it mentioned under Legal Disclaimer sandwiched between Related Video Shots and Sponsored Products Related to this Item. Needless to say I don't feel very comfortable using this for taking small children camping anymore.
Alexthegirl : Great product!
So I ordered a few of these to use with bunk beds at the cabin, because of mosquitos, but also because of a Wolf Spiders. They aren't harmful but they are huge, and even the least bug fearing person would still prefer not to share a bed with one. These are great! Ample size to wrap under mattresses, strong mounting string and so happy it came with hardware, and really easy to modify where you need to attach to your structure by just looping string into a bundle and tying off to create a bunch where you need to suspend the net. I bought the full and the twin size and I love both. Plus the kids get a kick out of feeling like they are on a safari.
Jrob24 : Great bug netting for tomatoes
I use this as insect deterrent for my tomato plants. It drapes much better and is taller than just a sheet of butterfly netting which I have to wrap and wrap. I will probably buy another one for other plants.
Ben : Fragile, be forewarned
Incredibly fragile. One snag and it's done for. Other than that, works well. If you're careful when installing it you should be good to go.
LA Joy : Keeps the birds out of my blueberry bushes
If I could give this product 10 stars I would! Every year, the birds strip my blueberry bushes clean before I get a chance to pick the berries. I bought this netting in the olive green to keep the birds out and I had a bumper harvest to pick. The green is subtle without being so obvious as the white netting would be. It works for my purpose perfectly.
BSJ : Good value no frills
Good value includes cord and attachments
Chickie : And it did a great job of protecting me from the mosquitoes
I was surprised how strong this netting was. And it did a great job of protecting me from the mosquitoes. This year the Zika carrying mosquitoes arrived and I found out I was strongly allergic to their saliva, causing blisters on my skin and eating away at the sub dermis and flesh. I would have been stuck inside all summer if not for this netting. And the price was reasonable, also.
toledodad : Keeps us from getting eaten up
We camp in the van and this allows us to keep the windows open for ventilation. The hoops allow us to attach the net right to existing plastic hooks it the van. The quality seems just fine for what it is. I hate getting bit, this is a lifesaver!
Dawn B : Works great and keeps bugs away!
This mosquito netting worked perfectly for my son’s week long camping trips this summer. He built a pvc frame to go over his cot and then draped the netting over the pvc. Worked perfect!
MM : These work great for our boy scout trips
These work great for our boy scout trips. The four loops on each corner make it easy to hang. We use the boy scout canvas tents with a small cot and these nets are the perfect size. After hanging them above the cot, we tuck it under the edges of the cot mattress to keep any bugs out. My son won't leave on a camping trip without it.

Patience Carter : Good and large
Good quality. Larger than expected.
It's a little too heavy to take along on backpacking trip so I don't know if I'll ever actually use it but it's only heavy because it's so big.
It's overkill for just one person. Might be smart to take along for two or three people.
Dawn B : Works great and keeps bugs away!
This mosquito netting worked perfectly for my son’s week long camping trips this summer. He built a pvc frame to go over his cot and then draped the netting over the pvc. Worked perfect!
myeka jones : Great XL is perfect
Put it right on my tent and sat right under it to eat perfect no flies and mosquitos if this one get old and messed ima order another this is the XL everyone should get that size more room even if it's just one person
Isamartinezamazon : Recommend
Good quality does the job

amanda : Perfect pool covering!
I was looking for something that I could use to cover my daughter's pool to keep the bugs and leaves out between cleanings. I change the water at least once a week, scrubbing the pool out while it's empty, but it's a decent-sized pool so dumping and refilling every time she uses it is wasteful. Also, I live in Upstate New York and it takes a couple of days for the water in the pool to warm up to a temperature that is comfortable for her. (She is 15 months old.)
In between cleanings, the pool was getting disgusting from being underneath the tree out back so I was looking for something to help with that. I'm very pleased with this mosquito net. It's the perfect size and I suspect it will serve exactly the purpose for which I purchased it.
Joseph E. Phillips : Great bug control.
Works great wish I could buy this againe forgot where I stored this.
Manuel Horta : yet sturdy enough that it won't rip
This is an indispensible product because it is so portable that it fits in a pocket, yet sturdy enough that it won't rip. My wife and I rented a cabin and discovered all kind of creepy crawly daddy long legs that wanted to jump in bed with us. I saved the day(night) by quickly deploying this handy net over us.
Sandy Carter : I used this for 3 seasons!
I used this as a cover for my milkweed for my butterfly garden. It worked very well! It held up very well for 3 seasons! I recommend this product, because for the price, I feel like I got my money's worth.
Kevin : Good net
Works well to keep out bugs. Setup is a little difficult with one person. I used this for a little while as a bug net with my camping hammock. I finally gave up and bought a bug net designed to work with hammocks. This net is good but wasn’t working for the application I was using it in.
Amazon Customer : Great for a baby camper

It was a way cheaper option than getting a pop up net. It is also easy to get to the baby quickly without letting in the bugs. There was enough room for his high chair and a chair for me to sit down and feed him.
Jake : Awkward fit over a hammock
It’s just okay. I tried to use it over a hammock when camping and it didn’t work out that well. I thought it was a large rectangle, but it’s really meant to be setup as a cube shaped structure. That's mostly my fault, given the picture on the package clearly shows it setup as a bug shelter. Used in that way, it may perform better. For my purpose, however, it was kind of awkward and difficult to setup. It did keep most of the bugs out, but it would require modification for use over a hammock without difficulty.
