Picture shows bamboo net. Ordered ot and now its a metal one. Whitch one is it?

Answer: The one we have is wood, just like the picture.

Is it metal frame like picture or bamboo like description?

Answer: Bamboo. Great inexpensive net. Still going great after two years and lots of fish!.. :)

Answer: I have had mine a while but it is wood and good quality!

Is there a replacement net available?

Is this truly less than 3.5 ounces?

Is 15" the overall length or just the basket length?

Answer: The basket is 15" and a little. Used this quite a bit this summer. I only use a net on larger fish, so I was doing well. I had no trouble putting bigger fish in this net. Fly did not hang up. NOTE, I cut about two inches off the handle. I also sanded the handle down a little. Just made it fit my hand the way on want. I would by again. New handle length is 21". So 23 out of the box.

How deep is the net? Is it intended specifically for catch and release?

Answer: The net is 11 inches deep. The frame is 9 inches wide and 15 inches long. Don't know if specific for catch and release?? Not sure what that means!!!

Is this actually 3.5 ounces as advertised?

Answer: Feels like it.

The net material is very flimsy, it will be interesting to see how it holds up over time. The wooden frame seems sturdy, the finish is rough and just not very well finished. The elastic strap is about on par with others that I have used in the past. For the price it’s fair... they just could have finished the wood better.

A really nicely priced net for catching and releasing the trout I fish for in the Carolinas. Just the right size for carring while wading streams and rivers. I like the fact that the depth is just right for cradleing fish with out having to handle them while removing the hook. I like the classic look. too.

Did not get net that was described in posting. Posting said I was getting aluminum net and I got a small wooden net not the net in picture.

Looks 7/10 I used some 120 grit sand paper to take off all of the half-assed laquer they used on it. After doing that it looks much nicer and is much nicer to hold.

Practically 6/10 the elastic bungee is just the right length to allow you do strap it to your back and still reach it out in front of you without unhooking it. The netting is very fine so it doesn't move through the water very well, another issue with that is the obvious problem that your hook gets caught every time. My treble hook was all wrapped up in it and I just ended up cutting it out.

I really like this net in general, but the netting is a deal breaker. As expensive as a replacement rubber net is it is worth it to just buy a more expensive one. This would look neat as a wall decoration, though.

I read the reviews and decided for the price I could be wrong. One of the reviewers said rough up the finish. I did not think the finish was bad, but I did not like the handle length. I cut the handle and reshaped to fit my hand. Did rough up the finish but not sure that made much difference. I just returned home from the number one fishery in the lower 48. I caught a lot of fish. I caught some really big fish and I netted all of them with this net. I like this net. Some reviewers said they got hooks caught in the netting. ???? not sure what those people are doing. Never hooked the net. I fly fish and the hook was in the fishes mouth. Maybe they use a lure? Some said the netting pulled loose. I landed fish that did not really fit in the net and the netting is just fine. I will update if the situation changes. If you are planning on catching fish over 24 inches, you probably need a bigger net. I had no problems with this net.

The handle on the net is all rough as if it wasn't sanded down before the cheap "stain and finish" that was applied so its not comfortable to hold, plus its all sloppy work, and its definitely not bamboo might be some cheap plywood.... I will be using it in a week so we will see how the net it self holds up. who knows I might have to use my sons toy net from target that was only a dollar.. :-/
