Questions about Berkley Gulp! Earthworm Fishing Soft Bait
Q:
Can I use a bobber and a weight with these? Its for little kids to avoid live bait.
Answer: Yes, that is what it was designed for. Looks like a real worm, but it's not. Works great for bobber fishing for panfish.
Answer: Yes u can use weights n bobbers
Q:
how many come in a jar?
Answer: A lot. I actually cut them in half and use them as halves, so it makes the jar go even further. Like another person said, I have been using them for a year and still have over half a jar left. They will typically stay on the hook for 2-3 fish, so you get pretty good use out of them.
Answer: I honestly have no idea, there is a lot, we have not really made a dent in it an d we have had it for at least a year.
Q:
What set ups shall I use to fish with these? I'm newer to fishing and I'd rather use these then keep buying real worms
Answer: You can fish these under a bobber. Also, if casting one small river or creek, you can choose to cast these weightless for a better presentation.
Q:
Anyone have any luck with these for ice fishing? Using real worms in freezing weather is difficult.
Answer: I have caught trout on these when they didn't bite on real worms.
Q:
Description says 1.1 oz jar. Photo currently shows two .64 oz jars. I just want to make sure of what I'm getting before I order?
Answer: I bought the red wiggler one and got a single 1.1oz jar of them. I would say to just go ahead and order them. If you get a pair of 0.64oz jars, you got a bonus. If you get a 1.1oz jar, you got what you ordered. If you only get one 0.64oz jar, contact amazon and they will probably give you a full refund.
Answer: 1.1 ounce jar from Tackle Finatics.
Answer: You get 1 jar
Answer: Not sure but they worked out fine. Had fun with them
Q:
how much amount for 100 grams live leech
Q:
Do people realize the jarred “worms” are made from soy, unlike the packaged “pinched nightcrawlers” which are plastic? 2 different products...
Answer: Probably not
Q:
How should these be stored and how long will they keep?
Answer: I just store it at room temperature. It's been more than a year, but still effective.
Answer: if they dry out, they can be rehydrated by adding small amounts of clean(preferably distilled) water to the jar and allowing the worms to absorb, then add more etc till they are saturated again.
Answer: I bought a jar over a year ago and assume it is still good, but I used it only a few times.
Q:
Can I store these in a hot car for months?
Answer: Not clear...
Answer: I have had a jar of them in my tackle box, in the back of my Tahoe since July, 2020. (today is 12/31/20). They aren’t dry nor do they appear to have deteriorated in any way.
Q:
Can these worms be used for potted plants to increase soil fertility?
Answer: They're not real worms. They won't do a single thing for soil quality.
Answer: No they are not alive.
Q:
Is there suppose to be a liquid in the jar? Mine has no liquid.
Answer: Mine did somewhat.....You probably recieves an old jar
Answer: No. Mine didn't
Q:
How long are these worms?
Answer: They weren't worth opening our creek fish wouldn't even eat it.
Q:
Can i use it in saltwater like mediterranean sea or red sea ?
Answer: I used in Fresh water, but I don't see any reason why you couldn't use in Salt Water. I plan on doing it this year for RedFish.
Answer: Why not it works great in salt water too.
Q:
how many comes in the pack?
Q:
Are they good for porgy fish?
Answer: don't know what a porgy fish is but they don't seem to do anything for the fish here in kansas
Answer: I fished them a few times, but never caught a fish. When fishing for sunfish, I have never found a substitute live worms. However, there are times that sunfish will eat almost anything, so it might be worth keeping a bottle of Gulp worms available in case you do not have the real thing. Everyone says the bottles will leak and when they do, they create a major mess. So, if you buy a bottle, you might want to put the bottle inside a zip lock back or something.
Q:
What size hook for these?
Answer: They'll stay on most hooks but fish won't bite them. I even smeared some bait on them but fish barely nibble.
Answer: Same result as Jason L.
Q:
Glass or plastic jar?
Answer: Plastic jar but I recommend real worms. This stuff is nasty!!! Wear gloves if you want to use this bait or the stench won't come off of your hands :(
Answer: The jar is plastic.
Q:
Do these float like Powerbait?
Q:
Why has the price Jumped from $3.50 to now $8, I cannot believe the price of production has changed that much?
Q:
Can this bait be used for rock fishing?
Answer: I never have, but it could be worth a shot.
Answer: Yes
Q:
Why is this product twice the cost compared to Cabelas?
Answer: Convenience?
Answer: Convenience
Q:
What is the difference between brown and brown 2020? They are priced differently.
Answer: The price on Amazon is driven by AI. So it will change depending on the hour of the day, the day of the week .... the season ... whatever AI thinks is important. So ... get the cheaper one.
Q:
Works for bass? Pike? In general. Also how many come per jar???
Answer: I did catch a few bass with it when I used it, never fished for pike, and probably about 10-15
Answer: not sure what they are good for---but there a lot (dozens?) in the jar and you have to dump them out into your hand or a towel in order to separate them, otherwise they break if you try to pull them apart. Stay on the hook well.
Q:
Do they come live or die
Answer: They are artificial
Answer: Mine were either sleeping or dead but worked well
Answer: These are not real, they are artificial worms
Answer: These are artificial worms.
Q:
Can these be used for saltwater fishing?
Answer: I dont see why not...if the fish sees it, it will look like food.
Q:
can they be used for slow bank fishing
Answer: Definitely. My 2yr old sits & fishes off the bank & dock with these & out fishes all of us! I believe either she's a bass whisper, or this bait is magical. Good luck.
Answer: Definitely. My 2yr old sits & fishes off the bank & dock with these & out fishes all of us! I believe either she's a bass whisper, or this bait is magical. Good luck.
Answer: They can be used any way that you would use a live leaf worm.
Answer: Yep. I rig them on a dressed hook and fish them on a fly rod for big bream. Cast next to cover and let it sink slowly to the bottom. Hits come when I do a slow, short strip raising it off the bottom. I don't have a boat.
Answer: I use them in a pond. So slow bank might be ok.
Answer: They work great floating with a slip weight, so worm floats above the bottom.
Q:
Do these worms float?
Answer: no they don't and didn't catch any fish for me either
Product reviews of Berkley Gulp! Earthworm Fishing Soft Bait
Lindsay : Useless
The product came with no liquid inside and has no scent. Feels like a piece of rubber. It isn't cut up into semi realistic pieces
tssn : Russell Kansas 2019
October 11th 2019 I fished with these worms and did not get a bite even the, Almanac said it was the best day for fishing in Kansas. Then I put two hooks on the same line and use gulp on one hook and real worms on the other hook caught two fish two different times with the real worms that should tell you a thing or two.
G. Levy : Yuck.
These don’t work and they stink. I’m not sure what I was expecting, but my 9 and 6 year olds were even disappointed with the fact that these crappy little worms didn’t catch any of the crappy little fish in our local man-made pond.
DC Dad : They work
Bluegill and pumpkin seed seem to like it. Had good luck a few times now. Works well and saves us time from digging up worms in the backyard.
Cowgirl Miller : Just ok
These worms may work in a pinch but real worms will definitely catch more fish.
Guillermo M. : Happy with my purchase
Got a bite on the first cast. Seems to lure bass well.
Isaac : Need further outings with it
Caught 1 fish with this bait. Wasn't working as well as other baits I took along.
twolfy : Realistic artificial bait
Got these to mimic red worms for me and grandsons to catch bluegills. Worked great so far. Helpful that they hold up better after strikes than real worms especially when I have two little grandsons casting and catching fish. Can tear them in half or thirds if you want to stretch them out more.
Angelo Dumas : eh. no luck but will keep trying.
I just have not had any luck with these Gulp Earthworms. I have had luck with other Gulp products (crickets and sandworms) but just not with the worms. I have not gotten any bites or nibbles, I have played around with how I rig this product. I have tried to rig like I would an actual earthworm, both as a glob and also through the center similar to a wacky style rig usually under a float. Perhaps its my presentation but I have had zero luck. I can say that it does seem to have an earthworm look and feel when it is in the water under a float.
John Russo : John russo
I have been using this fishing date Altru out last year but I have not caught anything with it I do not know if it works or if it's me but when I use a different bait I catch fish so I do not know what really is going on so I'm going to give it only 3 stars because I have been fishing with it and I am not having any good luck with it
CDAU221 : Bluegill had zero interest
Really disappointed by these. Didn't catch a single fish with them despite visually being able to see the fish and throw the bait directly on top of them. The bluegill naturally examined the bait when it first hit the water, like they do with almost anything, but save for a few early nibbles, they quickly lost interest and eventually ignored it completely. Super disappointed as I was looking for a nice live worm replacement for the kids.

Jessica Blaine : Fishing
I love fishing but I hate driving into town to get worms. These are hit or miss, but so is fishing. Some days the fish tear these up when they wont hit a live worm. Others they will tear up the worms and wont touch these. It is a great addition to the tackle box. Cut them in half or thirds to make them last longer.
Lauren&JG Prince : After a month and multiple uses, yet to catch a fish on those
On paper, looks like a great bait: biodegradable unlike other artificial baits in plastic. Unfortunately, the “worms” are really thin and tend to detach easily from the hook. More importantly, fish do not seem to be attracted to those like they would of a live worm or even a Berkeley nightcrawler
KP : Great product
Cheaper than real worms and from other stores. Works well.
Ha Nhan : Catfish Love These!
Berkley's Earthworms do work. I took them out for a test run at the local river, and these worms do haul-in many smaller catfish. I had to dock one star, because these worms are manufactured too thin to be used on regular hooks, while they do work fine on thin Aberdeen Snell hooks. It's a buy!
Cowgirl Miller : Just ok
These worms may work in a pinch but real worms will definitely catch more fish.
T Besaw : Must Have
You can never go wrong with Berkley Gulp products. They are my go to when the fish will not bite anything I give them. Always a great item to keep in your tackle box. Digging up worms is cheap but if the fish don't take them for some reason they will take these.
andy : The photo is misleading as to the size of the actual worms
Very small thought they would be large enough to fit on a hook. The image portrayed appears to be larger. These are much too small for me to need or even want.
Bina : No Luck
Tried it once but I didn't have any luck with these. Still have plenty left so will try again in the future.

Spoonman : bluegill love'em
can go wrong with bait
Dealy Blackshear : We’ll find out!
The reviews that I read fussed about the jar leaking the smell good stuff pretty badly. I watched a fishing video today with the same issue, and the fisherman transferred the baits to a urine cup, like you might see in a hospital lab. I only used the baits on one two hour fishing trip so it really hasn’t had a good trial.
Jermaine : Excellent
Excellent
Anthony : Garbage… Even a starving fish wouldn’t hit this bait
Sucks
Cowgirl Miller : Just ok
These worms may work in a pinch but real worms will definitely catch more fish.
Murad Saleh : It’s decent
They rip a bit but they are good and long. Got couple bass with the Berkley Gulp
Gail M. Rogers : No bites
I bought this when I was taking my little grandson fishing. We didn't get one bite on these. They were convenient and small which was good for a little one.
Nye Wang : Never need to buy worms again
We have caught so many blue gills on these. They work just as good as live worms but last way longer.
Last week my 5 year old was using this and caught a 4lb bass on a micro lite rod. I helped him land it and it made his day.
Omar lopeziñho : Not for every fish!
Not good for cat or bass fishing!!!
robert murrell : was expecting great things. The reviews had me convinced
have used several times now.was expecting great things. The reviews had me convinced, well some reality time later.. :{ ( nothing not a nibble to a lake i KNOWS is full of crappie and bluegill...
Dan : Doesnt work
Doesnt work, buy something else
dennis : did not work well
would not buy again
Seneca Guns : Waste of money
I fished these side by side with real red wrigglers…the real thing works MUCH BETTER. The only thing these will catch are your money
J : They look like real worms
These worms are great. I use them whenever fresh worms aren't available. They look and feel like the real thing, and they flat out work for trout, panfish, and even the occasional bass.

Daniel Scott Janczewski : Stick with Real Worms
I figured I'd take a chance with these cause there are times I just want to go after panfish when the bite is tough and I don't want to go out and buy nightcrawlers.
These fake worms are super thin, don't stay on the hook well, and unfortunately don't catch any fish. Real worms will win against these any day. I wish I could say otherwise, but looks like I'll be running out to the store for live bait.
Angelo Dumas : eh. no luck but will keep trying.

So far no luck with them.

Would not buy again

marianne grucza : Looks good
Fishing Saturday with the worms
Jermaine : Excellent
Excellent
Stephen J. : dont bother
too small for any hook Id use, waste of money I love other Berkley Gulp products, but this is useless to me
Jeff H. : works as well as live worms
fish could not distinguish between these and live worms on a recent fishing trip; wish they were bigger though
Busymommyof5 : Buy it the fish in the ocean love it
Guess it’s good if all the fish r coming after this bait
D. Prez : Great bait alternative!
Great bait alternative! I have caught bluegills, Tilapias and Red Devils with this bait.
Darrin Ridley : Works
Great
