Questions about Crystal River Live Release Net
Q:
Would this net work for Small and Lg mouth bass fishing on a river or is it to small? Thanks
Answer: I would call this a trout net and it is small but I've never a bass too large for this net to handle
Answer: We don't have bass in Alaska so I don't know. We have landed some nice 24" Rainbow Trout with it though. Hope this helps. It is a nice net for the price.
Answer: I think it would be to small especially for the large mouth. I have a hard to using it to net my flounder.
Answer: I am a bass fisher myself and have used this for both
Answer: It's a good size, not too big, easy to carry. Light weight, but the net is large. I've used mine and am well pleased with it so far.
Q:
Shipping Weight: 11 pounds?? 11once?
Answer: Wasn't 11 pounds, it couldn't been more than 1 pound
Answer: 11 ounces very light
Answer: 11tons
Answer: 11Oz
Q:
Folding net - what kind of knit material is being used?
Answer: Some form of synthetic material; like polyester. It is not nylon, cotton, of rubber coated.
Q:
?Folding net- what is the material made
Answer: Wooden handle, nylon catch and release netting, low end quality, it'll get you by, works better than nothing
Answer: A very cheap and flimsy wood.
Q:
Is it durable? My 11 yo daughter is asking for a frog/fish net. We've had nets in the past but usually the net rips around rim
Answer: The net is more of what you might call "Entry Level". Although the net is nice it was purchased for a Youth Trout Fly Fishing event as a door prize.
Answer: This net is title junk! Save your money and get something else
Answer: I've had mine a couple of seasons and I'm happy with it.
Answer: No
Q:
What are the dimensions of the opening, length of net opening; width of net opening; and depth? Thanks JW
Answer: This is a very nice, quality, Trout Net ! The overall length is 20-1/2", with a net opening length of 13-1/2", and the width of the net opening is 6", with a net depth of 9-1/2". The end of the handle has a eyelet in it with a elastic lanyard attached so you can stretch it out and easily engulf the big Trout. I think you'll enjoy it. it's ideal for wading in the creeks with it attached to your vest or belt. If you plan on using it from a boat for bass, I suggest you buy a much larger and longer net. Happy Fishing!
Answer: "Strictly" an entry level net. We purchased these nets as door prizes for youngsters at our annual Trout Unlimited Banquet. Good for beginners, otherwise I'd recommend going up in price to get a net that will serve you better in the long run....
Answer: don't recall
Q:
What is the overall length (including handle)?
Answer: 21 inches, not including elastic cord.

good size, great price
a bit too deep for easy catch and release of trout, but for the price its great!
Amazon Customer : Very light but a little smaller than expected.
A little smaller than expected. The handle should be about 6 in. Longer. Overall I like it. Very light.
Amazon Customer : One Star
it was broken when i received it
Scott A. Blum : Five Stars
cant wait to use
N. Conner : Not safe for catch & release, too small, difficult to use
It was very cheap, but I won't be using this net again, unfortunately.
I've netted probably 30 fish over the past couple of months with it, and several complaints.
1) Too Small. It's simply not big enough for a couple lb trout. Too shallow and too narrow.
2) Tangle - it's too lightweight and tight-woven to do anything but tangle the fish. If they start flipping or spinning before you've retrieved your hook, you're in trouble. The hook tangles and gets stuck, the fish can and does re-hook itself or injure itself. It takes entirely too long to remove the fish from the net if you're trying to be gentle with it. You will kill the fish if you use this net.
3) Damage - the type of material is, I was informed by several experiences trout fisherman, NOT SUITABLE FOR CATCH AND RELEASE. It damages the delicate "slime" on the outside of the fish, and this can lead to death. If you're trying to c&r, don't use this style of net.
Alex : Arrived all cracked up
The net arrived with an already broken handle. The wood had split from the net to the tip of the handle. It was cheap enough for me to fix with wood glue and a vice clamp rather than going through the hassle of returning it. Next time I'll pay a bit more for quality.
Haven't used it in the wild yet but I hope it holds together and helps net some beautiful trout.

One broke when I was fumbling for it with a big brown on my line, second one broke in the UPS box. A little too flimsy...but cheap.
Christopher : Don’t buy this, spend the money and buy a rising
I ordered this twice and it was shipped or broken. Not due to the shipping company but because the product is extremely fragile.
I can’t imagine this lasting more than a day or two on the river
Steve donnelly : Fish on
Excellent net.

Robert B. Cushman : Net results!
This and another size net were purchased a year or so, ago. We have a series of ponds in our back yard that require cleaning in the deep sections. (We keep the water flowing 24 hours a day, throughout the year, to keep the fish healthy, even through the sub-zero winters of the New Mexico high desert . . . 7,100 feet) Black "silt" is too heavy to pump with portable pumps (the "silt" appears liquid, but is more like thick ketchup, being from the roots of water lilies, cat-tails, and other plants). The fine mesh of these trout nets is perfect for scooping up the silt and dumping it out into the bordering gardens and lawn. I also have need to transfer the tiny baby fish from one pond to another. Although I cannot net and transfer the big Koi (the bears have left us two), the smaller gold fish under a foot in length are better handled with a soft net. Nets from Home Depot or Walmart, etc., are too coarse and/or not soft enough to do the job, and the handles are too weak. Working in the ponds requires me to go into the water from as early in Spring when I can stand to be in the cold water, to late fall.
Unlike many ponds, these ponds are complete ecological systems . . . I don't even need to feed the fish . . . even the two-foot long Koi. There are hundreds of smaller fish, and snails (including Japanese "Trap Door Snails" from the original ten snails I purchase about 25 years ago), plus the critters that live in the rocks and crawl up the water-plants to spread their wings into large dragonflies, etc. The soft netting makes it easy to sort out these delicate little creatures without harm and return them to their home.
These two nets are perfect for the job. They are two separate brands, but appear to be made "by hand" in the same Chinese factory. They are well made, with the net tied in a groove around the perimeter, protecting it from the wear of scraping it on the sand and/or neoprene pond liner. (Other nets tend to wear out from this sort of thing, and also from the intense sun light at high altitude.) The two nets appear to be a soft Nylon that are impervious to ultraviolet light and long outdoor exposure, but I keep them hanging in the stairwell to the basement.
The nets feel good . . . the wood reminds me of fly fishing years ago in the Sierra's with my split bamboo fly rods. I'm too old to hike in the mountains any more or body surfing at 15th street at Newport, California, (77) but I have my life-time dream of a stream and ponds in my own back yard high on a mountain. Having good equipment helps this old man better enjoy taking care of this little bit of water and fish, and the year round sounds of water rushing through a series of falls.
Keowee TR6 Owner : Chinese junk
Actual net looks like advertised photo. On receipt of this net, wood frame is very rough. Doubt that it will last a season. My bad, such a low price should have tipped me off.
John W. Rahn : Opening is to small
Opening is to small for me. Light weight and elastic strap but opening to put fish through is to small.

nicely made, light and works well.

Alleyne Long : perfect for my needs
perfect for my needs. I took it on a backpacking trip to catch trout in small alpine lakes. It was perfect. Not too big or small for small to medium sized trout...8-18 inches long.

D. E. Rosenlund : Like a little bird CHEAP CHEAP
Very cheaply made with weak materials. I dropped a wading boot on it accidentally and it broke the frame.
KP and JP : Works great.
This is the same net you will find at most fishing stores for slightly more. Nothing special, no fancy workmanship. Works great.
Steve donnelly : Fish on
Excellent net.
Todd Ha : Poor quality ordered 2 broke 1 already
Poor quality ordered 2 broke 1 already snagged on a branch and the branch won
MARK P. : Two Stars
Ok for the price. Finish comes off after two uses
J.F : great net`
great size and very light. it floats behind me when i'm in deep water and it's sufficiently stretchy. just what i wanted
Daniel : Ok but not great.
Strap broke after the first use but other than that it's decent. I'd upgrade next time though.
Julia Hunter : Ordered for my son for Christmas.
My son does a lot of fishing in his little Jon boat. He is always catching and releasing the fish. Thought this would be a great net for him to use but it is very small, it is very Mickey constructed but not for use on a fish of any size at all!
ThriftyShopper : Five Stars
Floats and holds fish. Sure it could be used for other things too.
Grandpere : Live release net
finish is rough as noted b other reviewers, but it seems well constructed and sturdy and will fill the bill for me

Cobalt : Crystal River Fishing Net
This is a nice sized net. I made the mistake of thinking it was a rubberized netting material. It is not. The wood has not been treated so you’ll need to polyurethane it. The construction is medium quality. I rated net as below average because I will have to do some work to be able to use it.

Robert E. Hood : Five Stars
good value for short time fly fisher
Roman Klimenko : Very light and sturdy
Huge advantage over similar nets with heavy half-metal handles - it floats. My daughter caught few trouts with it. Now it's kids' favorite.
Skready : Love it and it's price it perfect
Used it just the other day in the raft and it preformed just as expected. The size and shape of the net works well for any situation all in all it's great for fishing.
Connie harrison : Quality product
My husband loves this when fly fishing in his tube floating bost
Paul Meyer : TU Banquet Gift
Good quality, the net was given to a young angler and she love having her own net for fishing with her grandpa..
Joshua Best : Good net for the price
I was looking for a small, lightweight net for landing trout in the Lackawanna River and this fits the bill. You could buy better nets...for much more money. It is lightweight, lighter than better nets of the same size, so it must be a bit more fragile, but I don't use it as a hammer. The price was right,it works well for netting fish and I hardly know I'm wearing it.
Melisa Ulmer : Great value
Just what I was looking for.
Ashley : Five Stars
Great gift. They loved it! Thank you.
Edwin Jimenez : Okay.
Not bad but the net traps the fish smell
Chad Strawser : happy with purchase
as described, happy with purchase
