From the brand
"First we made things sharp, then we made sharp things." Our story
How we got our start?
Spyderco was founded in 1976 by Sal and Gail Glesser. Spyderco’s first knife-related product was the Tri-Angle Sharpmaker. Originally sold out of a converted bread truck, it remains one of our best-selling products over 40 years later.
What makes our product unique?
Spyderco pioneered the modern folding knife, introducing now-common features like the pocket clip, serrated edge and one-handed opening capability. Those innovations revolutionized the pocketknife and changed the knife industry forever. Those who know carry Spyderco.
Why we love what we do?
Today, that creative spirit and an uncompromising commitment to quality are still the heart of Spyderco's distinctive product line, which includes a full range of folding knives, fixed-blades, sharpeners & other accessories produced in 5 different countries, including our facility in Golden, CO USA.

Product reviews of Spyderco Lightweight Kitchen Utility Knife with MBS-26 Stainless Steel Blade and Polypropylene Plastic Handle
Kindle Customer : Buy This: Quit Thinking About It
Sharp as F...; just like their pocket knives. Great as a bread knife or to slice tomatoes. But it is also fine for chopping vegetables, carving or anything that a smaller chef's knife can do. The ONLY gripe I could possibly come up with is that it tends to cut into my cutting boards. You could cut a tree down with this thing. If I could only have one knife, this would beat out my Wusthof or Global. I think it is a given that it is better than a Henckles knife. I just do not think Henckles are as good as any of the afore mentioned brands (or Victorinox/Forschner, Sanelli, etc. for that matter).
I love it and might get another. Really good value. No one does a serrated edge like Spyderco. That is just a fact.
Southplank : Good Knife
This is a decent knife. It feels good in the hand and cuts well. I can't speak for longevity of the edge because I touch up my knives regularly to keep them razor sharp. On occasion, I do get a tiny amount of rust where the blade enters the handle. I hand wash the knife and leave it in the drain rack, point up. I'm sure this contributes to the problems. Its not a big deal. I use the knife everyday and probably once a month I'll notice a little surface rust at the handle joint that wipes off. I think this depends on humidly and how long the knife stays wet on any particular day.
I think this knife compares in quality to the similar styled Victorinox kitchen knives.
Allan : Very sharp!!
This baby is sharp, so be careful. I cut myself within 2 minutes and again the next time I used it. My old knife was so crappy I had gotten careless.
Susan C. : AT LAST!! Best Knife in the World Available Again!!
A few decades ago, my husband and I bought two of these knives. They quickly became our kitchen essentials--and one still is (the other one was accidentally degraded in a dishwasher and the handle eventually fell apart). We gave them as gifts, but then the company quit making them, to our great disappointment. We are delighted that they have been brought back! Although I'd prefer a black handle (just a style thing), the knife itself is just as good as it's older cousin. Razor sharp, cuts meat or veggies like butter.
Amazon Customer : Great value!
Great value at the price asked. So fearful blade geometry. The handle is better for smaller hands.
sweetrick : Reccomend for cutting tomatoes
I highly recommend this knife for tomatoes. Very sharp and can cut through tough tomato skin with ease.
Marla Belostock : and loved it, so I ordered a new one
We had one before, and loved it, so I ordered a new one, but mistakenly ordered a plane edge( not nearly as good),so I ordered another with a serrated blade, this is a amazing kitchen knife, and my wife is very happy, and I'm back in the kings chair...
valley9 : I love Spyderco knives and this is my first kitchen model
I love Spyderco knives and this is my first kitchen model. Great Spyderco steel with a sharp serrated edge and a non-slip handle. I'm sure it will come in handy this thanksgiving when I use it to clean the meat off the turkey, that is always a slippery proposition. I got the blue handle so that the color sticks out when I have it in the knife block on the counter,
Cippy : It's over 30 years old and still cuts like a dream
This is my second one. Still have the 1st. Handle went soft on 1st. It's over 30 years old and still cuts like a dream. Purchased 2nd. one for the up graded harder handle material and deeper serration one blade. Both are my go to knives for cutting veggies and related items. The new one cuts like greased lighting. Great for onions and tomato's and also hard crusted Italian bread. The old one has been used every day since new. I plan on putting a new handle on it and deeper cuts in the serrations to match the new one. You can't go wrong with this knife. It is stainless, but like any prized piece, knife; wash it and DRY it. A little oil wouldn't hurt either.
endsng : Strong steel, great cutting edge, but must be cleaned.
These cut great, like all Spyderco knives, but the steel isn't very stainless, you need to keep these clean.
Charlie L. : Great light sharp knife
Great
Jonathan : Rusts easier than hoped
I love Spyderco and really like the way this knife handles - but I've noticed it tends to rust too easily (I wash and dry by hand, yet still develop rust spots!) Not had an issue on any Spyderco folders with vg10/cpm s30/90v etc. Really good value otherwise.
cheap junk : the best knives you can purchase for the price
These knives are simply put, the best knives you can purchase for the price. I myself am a rock climbing guide and carry a syderco for rescue purchases (different model of course), I also carry one for self defense. They are the best.
Anthony K. : Great utility knife for the kitchen.
Great GP kitchen knife......red Handel gives it a quick identifier when in the knife block. Needs to be stored in a knife block.....not in a drawer.
Aoguma : SpyderEdge
An excellent knife for the money. Edge retention is superior. The serrations are Spyderco proprietary and very efficient. The knife is flexible and lightweight. The handle is comfortable. The system is dishwasher safe. You can spend more get less knife.
wsnarb : GREAT KNIFE
ALL GOOD. I LOVE SPYDERCO KNIVES. I OWN 10.
Mike : If you want a general kitchen utility knife, this is the one to get
Probably the sharpest knife I own. You have to be careful using this knife. I have no doubt that you could cut a finger off if used improperly. It's that sharp. Extremely well made and for the price, I don't think you can find better. I own two different sets of Heinkel's, pro chef and the 3 bolt sets, and they don't even compare in sharpness to this knife. The only con I can think of is the handle is on the smallish side. I was kind of surprised as it looks bigger in the picture. However, it's very comfortable and I'm sure I'll get used to it. If you want a general kitchen utility knife, this is the one to get.
Rebn : Great knives
This is replacing a kitchen knife that lasted for twenty years. Can do better than that with a serrated knife.
Chautauqua : Sharpest knife in the kitchen ... 4 a while
My new kitchen knife, I love it, not much more to say.
Spyderco quality all the way.
fair and balanced : All good
Good product - good seller!
Patrick B : Enduring Quality and Sharpness
I’ve owned this knife for 11 months now, and I adore it just as much as I did when I first got it. It’s serrations dice through anything I throw at it without any resistance whatsoever, even after a year of heavy use.
Get one of these: you won’t regret it.
endsng : Strong steel, great cutting edge, but must be cleaned.
These cut great, like all Spyderco knives, but the steel isn't very stainless, you need to keep these clean.
Rex : Some of the best knives I've ever used! You won't be disappointed!
This knife is so sharp, so well made, it's exactly what I expected from SPYDERCO! I knew at the price point it was not going to be the ultimate in cooking knives, but the main thing a knife is supposed to do is cut, right? This one cuts like nobody's business!!! My wife was using it to cut an overly ripe tomato, which is notorious for being difficult to cut, this knife blazed a trail through it like it was cutting warm butter! If your on the edge about this knife, hope its NOT the Spyderedge! Get off the edge and get some of these knives, I'm slowly building up a set of these knives for my wife, at the price these are it shouldn't take too long, I do believe I'm up to 3 so far! I'll be buying more!
taylor inkster : Awesome slicer
Great knife! Sliced through frozen chicken so problem. Comfy and perfectly weighted.

This knife fits my hand perfectly. The serrated blade cuts through tomatoes like a dream.
Ted Torrez : Best knife ever! Love it.
I love this knife. It is expensive but worth the money.
CLARENCE ROBINSON : Sharp enough for good kitchen and eating needs.
Sharp enough for good kitchen and eating needs.
Cameraman5052 : Handy, practical, razor sharp and not expensive - great deal
For a paring knife this is perfect. It is reasonably priced, it is wicked sharp and a great vaule

MG : The perfect size
Love the size of this knife. I had one previously and somehow it was lost. I was very happy to find another one online.
taylor inkster : Awesome slicer

Amazon Customer : THEY RUST
The handles are tiny and uncomfortable and they rust either in the dishwasher or just in washing them by hand. Junk.
Ted Torrez : Best knife ever! Love it.
I love this knife. It is expensive but worth the money.
Charlie L. : Great light sharp knife
Great
Nichole : Five Stars

jeanette m : Looks just like the picture
Looks exactly like the picture night is extremely sharp handle is plastic overall very happy with the product would definitely purchase again from the company
Nichole : Five Stars
Best kitchen knife ever! Very sharp, lightweight and easy to clean!
Bryan : if you like a knife that will take and keep a super sharp edge
Besides getting tired of using my Spyderco Sage to cut potatoes, onions, garlic and celery. I got tired of using the Sage in the kitchen for other stuff too. I tried ordering some other high end Japanese knock off for $10 less. I felt like an idiot for doing it and sent it back. I'm probably going to buy the Spyderco Kitchen Santoku eventually as well. Bottom line is if you like a knife that will take and keep a super sharp edge, then this it. My understanding is that the MBS-26 steel is comparable to VG-10. [...]26-Steel if you want to know more.
Name : Don't do it
I'm a huge Spyderco fan. It's my go to brand when it comes to knives. But this specific knife is complete garbage it takes way too much effort to cut through any meat and especially any fish. Also the handle feels like cheap plastic because it is. Shame on Spyderco for releasing this garbage

Stumpy : A sharp product of the highest qyality.
Spyderco is the best and this replaces another knife that has lasted for 11 years of daily use. My wife appreciates a sharp knife.
R. D. : Fantastic product
This is a fantastic product for the money . Super sharp edge that last for years . I would recommend this product to anyone. I would tell people for first time users be careful it easy to cut yourself until you be come familiar with how sharp it is , A great buy for the money and hold a edge for years .
Update 1 - 2020 I notice Amazon is no longer selling the Spyderco kitchen knife, I believe it to be a grave mistake to discontinue a great quality kitchen knife. To my surprise when I return to purchase as a gift they only offered private seller at a hiked price of more then $ 20.00 . I would ask Amazon to please if possible to offer these knives again . Thnaks
fmp7 : Amazing knife, cheap-o handle.
Definitely the sharpest knife in my kitchen and thus most used. Just wish they didn't cheap out so much on the handle! Light-weight plastic handle makes you think its a cheap-o knife.
RebelBiker : Super knives
Awesome knives. Very sharp and easy for my husband to sharpen. My old DULL knives have all been replaced with Spyderco. Husband figured these would be good since his hunting knives are all top of the line. He was right.
