Questions about Shimano Spin Reel Clam
Q:
What exactly does 10/200 mean? The photo shows a size 4000, too large for what I'm searching for. I'd like a 2000; the 1000 is too small. What works?
Answer: 200 yards of 10lb test line. This is not real large of a reel. It's good for bass, large catfish, stripers, drum, blues and spanish mackeral. It could also be used for surf fishing or pier fishing. If your catching fish from 5 to 12 lbs this is perfect size. But buy a better reel like the Penn Pursuit 4000.
Answer: I would assume that 10/200 means that the reel will hold 200 yards of 10lb line. Of course the companies usually exaggerate this capacity a bit, as if you put too much line on a reel, some of it is apt to spill off and cause problems. A 10/200 reel will actually take something like 180 yards of 10lb line. (The same reel would then also be able to hold more yards of a lighter line, such as 8lb or 6lb line.)
Answer: 10/200,Means the Reel will hold on the Spool,10# Line, with the Lengh of 200 Feet! I Hope this wii Help U out...
Answer: From Shimano website: IX1000RC Line Capacity:4/140; IX2000RC Line Capacity:8/120; IX4000RC Line Capacity:10/200
Q:
can you reverse the handle from left to right
Answer: On both the 2000 and 4000, yes. I am not sure about the super-ultra-light 1000, can't remember.
Answer: Yes, very simple
Answer: yes you can
Q:
is this the same reel that they have at walmart and meijer
Answer: The same as Walmart, Yes. I buy them here and Wally World. I love them! Been using them 15-20 years on mostly catfish and pike. So far only one has died out of about 6. I wish they still came with an extra spool, but at this price who cares.
Answer: Yes I bought the reel with a matching rod medium action at Walmart, about two years ago.I paid 24.95 for them. I use it for pan fish and bass. When I bought it i was catching a bunch of different fish. I love the trigger, makes it so easy to use. Would buy it again in a heartbeat.
Answer: I don't believe so Mr. Tyler. If it is, it is a great product and I do recommend this. Thank you for your question Mr. Tyler.
Q:
Does this reel have infinite anti-reverse?
Answer: No it is not infinite reverse.
Answer: The anti-reverse will return back to the previous full round position before coming in. So I think essentially it's not considered as "infinite"?
Answer: yes
Q:
I want the 2500 Shimano with the finger tab,, do you have it?
Q:
This is the shimano ix serie 4000 rc?
Answer: Package says r not rc not sure.
Q:
which one is the 2000 model?
Answer: I'm fairly certain the 2000 model is the 8.7 oz 8/120 selection and the 4000 model is the 11.8 oz 10/200 selection.
Answer: Ix 4000
Q:
Is the lx-1000rc smaller? Wats line capacity? Would it be good for ice fishing?
Q:
Is this for salt water?
Answer: spinning rod 9 foot or better.
Answer: Yes it is, and it works very well
Q:
what is the best reel for 65#-80# braided line on an ugly stick
Answer: I usually don't use braid but I do have a 6000 Soccoro that I think holds 20 lb mono and a 7ft ugly stick that I pair together. Are you going to catch catfish or fish from a boat both would be suitable
Answer: I usually don't use braid but I do have a 6000 Soccoro that I think holds 20 lb mono and a 7ft ugly stick that I pair together. Are you going to catch catfish or fish from a boat both would be suitable
Answer: You mean 65lbs test braid?
Q:
What exactly is the difference between the shimano 4000 and the 4000 clam
Answer: The only difference is the packaging
Answer: Just a different package that helps Shimano to charge more for the reel. It also purports to help in retail store product presentation to be packaged in the clam and hung on upturned hook that prevents snatch and grab theft or inventory slippage as theft is also called to some degree.
Q:
Picture doen't look right. Which size is the biggest? 4000?
Answer: Yes, 4000 is the largest reel. It's a good size for bass fishing and up, maybe a little too large for crappie and below.
Answer: Yes. 4000.
Answer: Yes I think the 4000 is probably the largest reel.
Q:
Does this reel come with an extra spool?
Answer: No extra spool..
Answer: No, but purchasing one is not a bad idea. At this price buy 2 reels
Answer: No
Answer: no
Answer: No
Answer: No
Answer: No it does not.
Answer: No.
Answer: No
Answer: No
Q:
what does the quik fire 11 actually do? does it pick up n hold the line ?
Answer: No, you hold the line against an extended knob for control. It's pretty neat how it works, but it's something you have to get used to. It's sometimes hard to cast the conventional way because the knob gets in the way.Looks to be a bunch of hipe.
Answer: Yes, you have to pick up and hold the line like most spinning reels.
Answer: Yes, one finger action, pull the lever and release when casting... Works perfect every time
Answer: I never use the quick fire mechanism, and I could do without it just fine.
Q:
Which is the 4000r her3?
Q:
hi, this made in where ?
Q:
I want a small reel for a 4.5 ft pole. Is this small enough?
Answer: They are not the ULX reels that come factory on the shimano 4'6" poles but the will work. I switched to them on mine because the ULX models dont have the quick fire trigger. To me they are not grossly oversized for the smaller poles.
Answer: Give it a shot - I like this little real - very in-expensive - and it works. I do alot of hiking to remote spots and use this little reel with an Okima pole.
Answer: yes, the 1000 should be a good fit for a 4.5' light or ultralight rod.
Answer: Sure, it is just a standard size trout reel.
Answer: I would say yes. This is a lightweight reel that we have used with no problems whatsoever. We have three of them.
Answer: It should be. I use one on a cheap $8 Walmart rod.
Q:
I looked further there are 3 reel prices but under the description they all list the IX2000, are these three different reels if so which?
Answer: The Minus point in Amazon is,all items sold by them does not come with detailed description.Shimano makes reels from the smallest series 500 to series 8000 in spinning reels. If you look up on the net,you can differentiate which reel has the same ratio and spool capacity. The difference is spinning reels are size, ratio and line capacity and of course the price.
Answer: Amazon does not specific on this particular product. If you look around online you will see decent examples showing the way Shimano numbers their reels. Smaller numbers usually indicate that it is a smaller reel intended for lighter lines. Smallest shimano that I've picked up was a 500. I've seen all the way up to 3500 I believe. I've also seen these reels at Kmart. Usually collecting dust which is where I pulled mine from and its never failed me yet. Good luck and tight lines
Answer: I don't believe they are different. I would ask you to consider paying a little more and buying the Shimano Sienna reels. They are much better quality.
Q:
I am looking for a "drag knob assembly" part # a-4113 or rd4113 for a shimano ax2000 reel. do you know where i can buy one?
Q:
Is this reel good for heavy bass bait? I always thought you needed a baitcasting style for heavy bait.
Answer: No, only for light bait.
Answer: I can not address your question properly, but, I use this reel for steelhead and salmon fishing in the Pacific Northwest, rivers and bays. I use 20 pound braided and I have not been spooled yet.
Answer: I have caught stripers and redfish on this reel. The answer is yes.
Answer: No, it's a great inexpensive reel for the kids or occasional weekend warrior but I am happy with it
Answer: very nice
Q:
Can someone recommend a cover for this?
Q:
How many bearings?
Answer: Even the reel itself doesn't say...I have reels with 11 (Chinese) and still crap...this one is simple, smooth, trouble free and nearly bulletproof...as a machinist, I care more about function than 50 bearings stacked together...excess bearings only catch "fishermen"...THIS will catch fish in DURABLE beauty...second ultralite one I own and NO fails!!! Get one of these and fish HAPPY, or...the pretty purple one with 24 bearings and sequins in a tutu...
Q:
three different reels are listed, one is listed as rc1000, the photo shows the 2000, how do I know which is which, I would like to order two
Answer: All the reels are basically the same. The only difference is the fishing line that each uses. Each reel is slighter larger than the next. I have the 1000 and the 2000. The 1000 is ideal for light and ultralight rods in freshwater. The 2000 is good enough to handle light to medium rods and can handle freshwater and saltwater fishing. The rods have good action and good features. Nice drag. Smooth action. Easy to care for. They have not let me down yet.
Q:
is the ix1000 size 1000? also what do the other two mean
Answer: The 1000 is the smallest of 3 sizes of this model. I use mine most of the time because I like ultra-light fishing. This reel can take 2, 4, or 6 lb test line. The other 2 reels in this series will take 8 lb and 10 lb test line.
Answer: ix is the series name for these type of reels from Shimano. 1000 is the model number. The smallest reel in the ix series is the 1000, then 2000 and the 4000. The size of the spool is smaller therfore the retrieve ratio is slower for the lower model number. The larger the model number the larger the spool diameter and so forth. They used to make a 500 which I have used for years. I don't think it is offered anymore.
Q:
Can I use braided line with this reel
Q:
Why was I sent 2000’s when I ordered 4000’s? You won’t respond to my emails.
Q:
How many berrings
Q:
ship to Brazil?
Q:
How much does it weigh?
Answer: This is a very light weight reel.
Answer: Not alot. Few ounces
Q:
saltwater?
Answer: I've used this reel in saltwater and everything has been fine, just remember to give it a good rinse when your done and there are products designed to remove the salt from your rods and reels.
Answer: Just treat it all all tackle used in saltwater. Clean it when fishing far the day
Q:
what size reel should I use for blues and stripers in salt water
Answer: Biggest reel you can get? 4/0 or larger spinning reel, medium to heavy rod, 6-10' depending on if fishing from shore, surf or a boat. Use at least 15 lb line minium mono or braid. Also for the bluefish that have very sharp teeth, wire or heavy 80 lb mono leader. If using cut or live bait for the blues use a double hook bluefish rig and have a pair of long nose pliers to save your fingers when removing the hooks. Don't know much about stripers don't have them in South Florida but think they are similar to our local snook that can go to 30-40 lbs I think. Good luck
Q:
can i get spare spool?
Q:
Which one is the smaller size like for an ultralight rod
Answer: I believe the lightest one is the IX-1000RC. Check the documentation from the Shimano website here: http://fish.shimano.com/publish/content/global_fish/en/us/index/customer_service0/instruction_manuals.download.-mainParsys-0001117-downloadFile.html/US_IX.pdf
Q:
how much 15lb braid can i put on this reel?
Answer: Dont know it works great with the it came with I quit using braid myself
Q:
where was this reel manufactured?
Answer: I use this reel for Rainbow trout btw. 6# test mono. Mine was made in Taiwan which is also known as China, but not Communist China. Some Shimano reels, especially the pricier ones are made in Malaysia. The Stella is still (as of 2014) made in (tada) Japan!
Answer: This reel should be manufactured in Malaysia. I had discarded the box but I can see the word "Malaysia" written on the reel foot.
Answer: Made in Malaysia
Answer: China
Q:
Putting 8# line on this and don't undertand line capacity 8/20 size 20 reel - how many yards fit on this reel? is it only 120 ?
Answer: That sounds about right
Q:
for how many pounds is?
Answer: it's pretty light probably about a pound
Answer: I have no idea! It is not cumbersome on the rod
Answer: ok, but tan not's one anwer.
Q:
Would this be a good rod for all around bass fishing? 3-6 pounders?
Answer: I like to use this reel for bass fishing. I use 12lb mono. I also like to use fairly light action rods between 7-8 ft and light tackle
Answer: I think so. I caught a bass in late fall with mine. I did not have a scale to weigh the fish but it was 16 1/2 inches long, the reel handled it with no problem, my little ultralight rod was bending quite a bit when I got the fish to the bank though. As for the bass, I estimate weight at about 4 lbs or so.
Answer: Better to get 2000 size for 5-6 pound bass
Answer: Yes I do believe this would easily handle those bass. I've fought some catfish and wipers that make the reel "sing" and reel holds up very well!!
Answer: I would go with a better quality reel, this is a great reel for those pnds and small lakes....my daughter did catch a 2 1/2 lb large mouth with no problems....the reel is all plastic..polycarbonite something!
Answer: I have found that the inexpensive shimano reels are better than any other manufacturers reels if you don't like the feel off a plastic reel get any of the Fx Ax or Sienna's in a 4000 I have one of each and I love them all
Answer: Yes this is a very durable reel,i have used them for years.
Answer: I don't why not,A very nice,smooth Reel,You want be Sorry,Love Mine!!!
Q:
what is the max line weight does this reel take?
Answer: The 4000R reel will accept 8, 10, and 12 lb. test. 24" of line per crank and a max drag of 15 lbs.
Answer: I used this reel once and it broke. Didn't purchase from Amazon, but you can find a better reel than this one. I had 10 lb line on the reel and it did just fine for one day. Drag quit working. Take my advise and buy another rear drag reel, don't waste your money on this one.
Q:
hi i want to catch bass catfish and trout, some in fresh water some on the surf. is this reel good for me? what rod can i pair it with
Answer: Remember this is a ultra light reel. I have caught and landed a 5 lb. black bass on this reel spoiled with foam green spider wire 4 lb.test. I actually bought my rod from wal-mart for about $15. You don't need an expensive rod to catch fish in the 5 lb. range. If you are going to fish salt water I would recommend a reel one step up from ultra light. Happy fishing.
Answer: This reel might be a little small for the surf. I use the 4000 size and 12# test mono. I do love this cheap little reel I own 2 of them. First thing I do is remove that 1 hand casting thing. It gets in the way. If you are using in the surf (in shore) something at least 7 ft moderate to light stiffness. I use my 4000 with a 8ft inshore rod and very light under 1/2 oz wt
Answer: This is an ultralight reel so you won't be able to catch many fish above 4-5 lbs and I would be very careful using it in saltwater. As for a rod, pair with a good ultralight rod. Zebco, Berkley, Shakespeare all make good ultralight rods.
Q:
can this be used on a 4’ freshwater pole?
Answer: Yes. I love these fishing reels and it would work fine on a 4’ freshwater pole
Answer: You could but is kind of big for that small of a pole
Answer: Yes, great for a small pole and light line. I use it on my ultra light set up for creek fishing.
Answer: Yes. It should work. Nice reel for the price.
Answer: Don’t see why not.
Answer: Yes
Q:
In the drop down select it only allows me to select IX-1000RC but in the product details it states IX2000RC-24 What reel is actually offered here?
Q:
Why did I not receive the handle with the reel??? Huge fan, favorite reel all time, but it was sent to me with no handle.... how am I to use this?
Answer: Mine ca.e with a handle
Q:
Does it work on pen fishing rod
Answer: Works on all standard rods
Answer: It will but try not to go beyond medium action 7 foot rod since it's not too big and would look too good
Q:
When buying a reel for a fishing poke what do the sizes mean im new to fishing and dont understand what the size means.
Q:
HANDLE CHANGEABLE FROM ONE SIDE TO THE OTHER
Answer: I haven't tried it but appears that the crank is reversible. So far I have been happy with its performance. Good luck!
Answer: Yes,these reels can be cranked from the left or right hand.
Answer: Yes
Q:
what reel would be best for small bass med catfish and little carp
Answer: I have both, the Small one+thee Larger one,I would Suggest thee smaller one, which will be perfect+you will love how nice they work+how Super Smooth they are!!! You will not Disappointed!!
Answer: I have had now 2 Shimano quick fires in 20 years and I have caught 5 to 8 lb. trout with it. If you don't run out of line and don't set the drag too tight and play them for as long as needed, this one is enough. And, you are not out a lot of money.
Answer: I have had good results with the Shimano ix1000R. It's a great buy on Amazon for less than $17.00
Q:
Does this reel have the three-position anti-reverse> ie., off, on, and "center," where the bale stops at the center below the trigger?
Answer: The lever on the bottom is two position. One position you can turn the handle both ways and the other turns forward only stopping the reel trigger at top dead center for easy casting.
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: The lever on the bottom is two position. The lock is on or off....there is no center position.
Answer: No, mine is just on/off.
Q:
What is the drag on the 4000
Answer: Rear
Q:
Is this a 2000 or 4000. Picture says 4000, item details says 2000? Which is it?
Product reviews of Shimano Spin Reel Clam
Rick : Five Stars
they are fine
Customer : Not Normal Shimano Quality
I love the quick release which is why I bought this reel, but it is very low quality compared to most Shimano reels that have the quick release on it.
kma0013 : Dependability
Note: Only put 8lb test on to bobber fish Kentucky Lake crappie,,, Used it hard for 3 days and not one problem. It will crank in an 18" with no problem, It works better then my old Shimanos. I forgot what it was like to have a good reel. Great buy for the Price
Dee Cee : I recommend this product.
Love it
R. Maier : great product
replacement for myself
Steve : A Good Reel
Used this reel three times fishing this season, works well, my last one broke in the middle of a fishing trip. So glad to be fishing again.
bman : Nice Durable Reel for a Great Price
If you want a cheap reel that is durable and just works. This is it. Great for teaching my kids how to cast. They learn how to hold the line for casting by using the reel trigger system.
Amozing : Great to have the reel again
We love this reel. It’s an exact replacement for one that we wore out after 10 years of hard use. Smooth with good balance.
willi1 : Love it
Just a little bit bigger than my old one love the rear drag it’s just what I’m used to and works perfect for me
Casey : Best Reel
So glad I found this reel. Had one when I was younger and can’t count how many fish I caught with it. I was bummed out when it finally fell apart after years and years of use. Buying this reel was like being reunited with an old friend!!!! I would take this reel over any other out there!!
Raquel : Great reel! Great price!
I know that this isn't a fancy or expensive reel, but after having it for a couple of years, I have to say that it's one of my favorites. I like being able to cast my spinning rod this easily. I subsequently bought one of the higher end Shimano Spirex Front Drag spinning rods (also with a trigger), but this first one has never let me down.
Ernie Gall : Nice Reel
Just what I was looking for, but I haven’t actually fished with them yet..!!
Dmitry : Five Stars
All perfectly! All right
Chris Allen : Great little reel!
These little reels are very smooth to cast & reel in. Perfect for Crappie & pan fishing
jtotman719 : I like the quick fire feature on these spinner reals
I like the quick fire feature on these spinner reals. As far as I know Shimano is the only company to make the quick fire. Great spinning reel with a great price.
Chris : I tried several other brand-name reels and hated them. Didn't know what I had before was ...
Years ago I bought a rod and reel combo that included this reel.
After... gosh, I don't know, maybe 8 years of abuse, it gave out.
After mine gave out, I tried several other brand-name reels and hated them. Didn't know what I had before was so great until it was gone. Thought I could find another one that worked just as well but I couldn't.
Then I found this one on Amazon - just like the one I had before! And at such a low price!
Put it on my rod and all is good with the world now! Easy to cast, reels in smooth, strong, straight. It's firm and steady when reeling in a fish. I like the finger pull to cast, and the easy-to-adjust drag in the back. Very happy to have found this on Amazon! I think I just may buy a backup one!
Ernie Gall : Nice Reel
Just what I was looking for, but I haven’t actually fished with them yet..!!
ExplorerDad : Good backup reel
Decent reel. More plastic than I expected. It is a good backup reel
Steve Reischel : Nice reel at a nice price
I just got this reel yesterday and I have to say I'm pretty happy with the look and feel of it. I have not yet used it but for the price, it is quite nice. The trigger mechanism seems to work well. I've had other reels that felt like something was going to break by pulling on it. This one works well. Cranking it feels smooth as silk. Again I've had other reels that were not. Some feel like the gears don't mesh properly. The drag adjustment feels precise as well. It holds a lot of line for my purposes, which is primarily fishing on small lakes.
Ronald W. : Five Stars
buy it you will like it.
Delaware : Very smooth action. The trigger is a little far ...
Very smooth action. The trigger is a little far from the grip, but that is a more subjective thing as it's not really an issue.
Camille Meritan : Quikfire feature great but anti reverse broke
Worked great while it lasted (one day) then the quikfire self centering stopped working. Probably got a lemon. All plastic construction but very smooth.
Steve Nolan : Great deal
High quality reel for the money and I would buy again
I bought 2 more after I received the first one.
I use for fishing pan fish and walleye and it works great for me
laurence neel : Otherwise a great reel.
The drag only makes a clicking sound when the drag is loose. If you tighten it you can't hear the drag sing when a fish runs. Otherwise a great reel.
Topher T. : Three Stars
The reel back feature can throw off a hookset
Michael : Awesome reel
Nice small sized reel. Smooth action
ExplorerDad : Good backup reel
Decent reel. More plastic than I expected. It is a good backup reel
Mike from Pa : Not comparable to an FX 100
I bought this reel because my fx100r is getting loose.
The fx100r is small and a very well made version of this reel made back in the 90's.
I ordered this thinking it was close in size and I could replace my old favorite.
Not the case.
It's a good reel for under 20$ no doubt but these quick fire designs aren't what they use to be.
This will get the job done but you can tell the quality has dropped.
The seller is 5 stars .
I got the reel in quickly and on time.
ww : Great Spin Reel for the price
I remember using older models of this reel when I was fishing as a child and was very pleased that Shimano is still making them and at a very reasonable price. I don't own any fancy high-end reels so I cannot compare the quality of this spin reel to its more expensive counterparts.
Pros:
Price
Quick trigger release
Easy to use
Cons:
None
Great reel to learn from. With the quick release trigger, it makes casting quick and easy with the use of one hand. I would recommend this product for anyone that is looking for a decent reel that will get the job done.
Skypilot : Is this a disposable reel?
Used it in choctawatchee bay for week when relatives visited and the anti reverse stopped working in middle of fourth day fishing. I watched you tube on how to repair it. Still no drag. But for price I’ll go to bass pro. Thing is I have another reel same model and it sits great. Maybe just a fluke
K. Hughes : Very smooth
So far the reel has performed as I expected. Thisnis the third shimano reel I have purchased. The first one is about 30 years old and needs a new bail spring which I can not find. I dont want to get rid of it because it holds some serious sentimental value. My second is about 12 years old and is a quickfire like this one. It is currently my favorite. I bought this for my son and then loaded it up with some very light line for trout fishing. I know it will work well for bass too
Keenan : Why Spend More?
I've been using this for a year now with no complaints. I can catch fish with it, that's all that matters. Spend more money on lures and find what works for you. Sell what you don't like on the auction site.
Todd : Great for Most Average Sized Fish
Works great for your average sized freshwater fish. It's caught everything from the smallest pan fish to bass no problem. It is paired with a ultralight Berkeley cherrywood now, but it worked great on a Shimano stimula rod as well. I have the 4000 series in this reel too and used it on the Outer Banks and it has held up better than the saltwater tackle that I used.
mpan : Best in its price class by far.
There is NOTHING on the market to compare to this reel. I paid $12 for mine and it outclasses reels costing 4 times as much. It is basic but well designed. The fit and finish are very good. It is smooth and casts well. I know Shimano makes durable reels. If you compare it to any other reel in its price class it is light years ahead. I paired mine with the appropriate sized rod and use it for trout and pan fish. It replaced a Shakespear of the same size. The Shimano is much lighter while feeling more solid. You will not be disappointed in the price to value ratio.
D.B. : Excellent reel at a great price
This is an excellent reel. I’ve had these reels for over 20 years, and have used them regularly every summer. They are durable, smooth, and perform very well. I prefer the rear drag. When fighting a fish, I don’t want to be putting my fingers in front of the reel. You can pay a great deal more for a reel, but let’s face it, you don’t need to spend big bucks to catch a fish. I would rather put a few more dollars in a rod and lures. I recommend this without reservation.
kma0013 : Dependability
Note: Only put 8lb test on to bobber fish Kentucky Lake crappie,,, Used it hard for 3 days and not one problem. It will crank in an 18" with no problem, It works better then my old Shimanos. I forgot what it was like to have a good reel. Great buy for the Price
Robert Parker : Five Stars
Good reel. I love the fast cast feature!
Rob : It does not feel like super cheap breakable plastic but instead a medium to ...
Look, its cheap and it works. That being said its a little tight when you reel in. It does not feel like super cheap breakable plastic but instead a medium to heavy duty thick plastic type material. Its $16, what do you want?
mvx : It's a Shimano reel. Can't go wrong. For me of course. I also had two baitrunners they're great
I like it alot. I really recommended it. I used it to fish for blues, rockfish, catfish and other fish. I also caught two large horseshoe crabs together with this reel. So, far so good. I actually bought at least eight. Knock on wood hopefully it won't break. Satisfied!
Jacob Best : Affordable and functional
Been buying these for years, because of the quick fire trigger system this is (imo) the easiest spinning reel to use and is cheap enough to replace if broken but I’ve never had a durability problem with these reels.
Terri James : Possibly a factory defect but drag broke on first use...
Price point for this reel is great but after a short fight with a channel cat, that was only a few pounds, the rear drag system ceased up and dropped out of the bottom. I'm guessing this is attributed to a factory defect issue. I will definitely have to be returning it and try to get a reel made out of more metal than the 2000R.
R. Maier : great product
replacement for myself
Dean Dardzinski : Five Stars
Great reel for the price. Can't beat it. Love it.
Amozing : Great to have the reel again
We love this reel. It’s an exact replacement for one that we wore out after 10 years of hard use. Smooth with good balance.
Steve : A Good Reel
Used this reel three times fishing this season, works well, my last one broke in the middle of a fishing trip. So glad to be fishing again.
ws1503 : Nice reel worth more than it sells for.
It's a good real i've caught 40-50 bass with no problem but nothing over 3 pounds, when it breaks i'll buy another one and have spare parts.
bob : Solid Product
I purchased these too teach the kids how to use a spin reel and these are a solid choice for that purpose. They have a little lever that makes it easy for kids to click the bail over before casting. The would also serve as a decent back up reel in a pinch. They are what they are though, a basic cheap reel.
Camille Meritan : Quikfire feature great but anti reverse broke
Worked great while it lasted (one day) then the quikfire self centering stopped working. Probably got a lemon. All plastic construction but very smooth.
M.A.L. : Great rod
Quickly became my favorite.
JoJo : Nice Reel
Put the reel on my fishing pole and gave it to my grandson. He caught a lot of fish with this.
