Best consistant big fish bait? 2025

fishing user avatarjustfishin reply :

I have caught big bass on spinnerbaits, Senkos,  tubes, jigs, big 12" worms etc, etc. but, I have to say, at least for green bass, that my most consistent big fish lure after thirty five years is a 1/2oz jig and trailer. Why? I don't know. What is yours?

fishing user avatarKy_Lake_Dude reply :

A jig.

fishing user avatarKU_Bassmaster. reply :

I would have to say it's a tie between 10" Worms and the Jig w/ the Jig coming on strong as of late.

fishing user avatarRebbasser reply :

Spinnerbait, crankbait, and jig in no particlar order.

fishing user avatarZ71 reply :

My biggest were from senkos, spinnerbaits, & plastic worms, in that order, with senkos themost consistant, but I also fish senkos more,  but I seem unable to master the jig, I am cursed when it comes to jigs.

fishing user avatarNEBassMan reply :

For me, it's been crank baits.

fishing user avatarSpencer W reply :

I would have to go with spinnerbaits and buzzbaits, but I'm going to throw a jig more this year so that could possibly change.

fishing user avatarsenko_77 reply :

I would definately say topwater.  My biggest fish have come in different techniques, but for constant 4-5lbers buzzbaits and sammies have owned that category

fishing user avatarRoLo reply :

Like KU, I'd also go with a Plastic Worm and Jig & Trailer.

I know that a lot of fellows place their emphasis on lure size, but I believe the big difference

depends on how close to her lips the lure is delivered and how the lure is worked.

fishing user avatarSupermat reply :

The bulk of my top-end fish have come from swimbaits hands down but I am also a fan of jigs, blades, and 10" worms. That said, the swimbait wins by about 7:1.

fishing user avatarMattlures reply :

The swimbait has probably accounted for more fish in the top 100 than any other single bait and it is definaly my big fish catcher

fishing user avatarGeorge Welcome reply :

You can go to my website and see pictures of 100's of bass over 10 pounds - the majority were caught on the Yamamoto Senko! The Senko has outproduced all baits at this location for big bass production.

fishing user avatarroadwarrior reply :

6" Senko

fishing user avatarguest reply :

I go to the local power plant and dig these up around the nuclear waste piles:

fishing user avatarcart7t reply :

Crankbaits

Plastic worms

Jerkbaits

fishing user avatarWABass reply :

Jig and trailer, Senko, 4-5inch grub, in that order.

fishing user avatarCatt reply :

Texas Rig for sure but in the last few months here at BassResource my inventory of Senkos and swim baits has grown.

If there is one thing I've learned in over forty years of bass fishing is don't be afraid to change lures!

fishing user avatarChris reply :

I don't know what bait is the most consistent but I do feel that angler knowledge, timing, and location are more of a key factor of consistency when it comes to catching trophy bass. I say this because I have caught trophy fish on a number of baits but one common thread between all of them was how the bait was presented. They all where presented in such a way that it gave few cues that it was fake. Most of the time they where large profile baits that had fluid or random movement. You can also catch them on small normal sized baits because sometimes elephants do eat peanuts.

fishing user avatarguest reply :

Jig and Pig.

fishing user avatarhi_steel_basser reply :

JIG AND PIG. The all-time greatest. Second would be a suspending jerkbait, esp. for spotted bass.

fishing user avatarTpayneful reply :

Largest -> 1/2 oz spinnerbait

2nd -> Rapala jointed minnow
