Happened on Lake St. Clair, MI this week in the BASS open
Dang.
Somebody save the rods and reels! Oh the humanity!!!
Everybody ok?
That...sucks. Dang.
Hope no on was hurt. So tell us how it happened?
I read everyone was OK. Chris Flint grabbed onto a navigational buoy and waited for help. There is some talk that the top cap separated from the hull.

What about the sandals?
Wow. Good everyone's ok.
governer cuomo cursed his boat
We all live in a purple submarine a purple.......... Glad everyone was OK and we can joke about it.
He shoulda bought a Ranger.....
Neat photo, I guess it's floating... Or in really shallow water...

He'd still be fishing if it was a Lund
Boston Whaler started the unsinkable brigade by cutting one of their boats in half over fifty years ago.
You could still fish out of this one.

my thoughts were exactly the same, in the same order.....
It's no wonder that the Lund took on so much water. The guy forgot to put the plug in!
Glad they got out unscathed. The Great Lakes are no place for bass boats. Only takes one wave over the side or back to fill it up. No amount of pumps will get all that water out before the next one comes over.
Yikes!!! I can see a big wave doing that. Up there the waves get big!!! Glad everyone is ok.
carolina skiffs are hard to sink too

He would have been fishing had it been a Ranger too.
This one is worth watching too:

That sucks! They left rod's and all!
i read the story today from the guys and it sounded pretty sketchy..... basically involved a dead cell phone, one with 10% battery, watching a party boat go by that didn't see them to help, and clinging to a shipping buoy waiting for rescue
in other words, your worst nightmare....

And that's why a marine radio is a good idea. A direct line to TowboatUS and the USCG.
Thank God everyone is OK.

How'd you manage to do that?

It was on the trailer but not hooked up yet. Shallow ramp so I didn't power it on, just coasted onto it. Got out to crank it up the rest of the way when a huge barge wake I didn't see rolled over the back of the boat, filled the whole boat and sucked it back off the trailer. The thing kind of planed out away from the ramp in reverse until it finally hit bottom and stopped, just the very tip of the nose of the boat was sticking out of the water.

That's insane dude! Good thing nobody got that on video otherwise that would be one of those launch ramp fail video's! Did you get it back?

This was before video cell phones were really popular, otherwise my buddy that was with me probably would have gotten it all on camera. We had both our trucks, and thankfully with the help of the boat being almost weightless in the water we were able to get the nose of the boat onto the end of the trailer and winch it up far enough that the sides were out of the water and let the bilge do the rest before we cranked it up the rest of the way. Whole event took less than 30 minutes and it actually did very little damage other than having to take the gas tank out because it had gotten water in it.
^^ that's wild man!
