I have dehydrated fruits and herbs for years, but was always nervous to try jerky because the plastic round dehydrators are not as good at maintaining the temperature in my opinion.
Day one of having this in our house and we've made jerky and love it!
First, let me say how impressed I was at how quiet this is. I have to keep my round dehydrator in the pantry or another room because it is so loud. This is more of a whisper. Because of that I was skeptical, but sure enough, it keeps the temperature steady beautifully.
Ok, there are a few quirks. The temperature is changed in increments, and they are funny numbers: you don't select 165 degrees, it is 167 lol. That said, for a machine that works and maintains the desired temperature, I'm ok with it.
The other quirk I've got is that the metal bottom in the front inside for my unit is a bit bent down, so I'll have to be careful if there are any drips to make sure it does not drip into that gap.
I do wish the unit came with more nonstick liners and more fruit leather trays. The trays are handy for dehydrating liquids, which I want to do . I am going to test using some of the grill mats for liquids, and the grill mesh for nonstick.

T.J. : Great Dehydrator - 24 hr timer!
This dehydrator arrived securely packed and I was surprised that it survived my toddler bringing it into the house by toppling the box end over end. Instructions are clear and there is a rough guide for the temps needed for what you are dehydrating (meat/veggies/fruit). The recipe book is good, even if it’s heavy on the jerky recipes. It’s an attractive unit and it doesn’t take up too much space considering it has 9 shelves. One issue that is VERY annoying with the unit is that the temperature settings can only be set in increments of 9 degrees. So, you can set the unit for 140 degrees or 149 degrees, but not 145 degrees. The included manual says that you should dehydrate apples at 145 degrees. All the recommended temps in the manual don’t line up with settings that are available on the unit; that’s really poor design. Only allowing temp settings in increments on 9 degrees seems like a huge oversight, like there was a problem with the electronics and they decided to ship it anyway without fixing it at the factory.
The metal shelves are nice, and the amount of contact with the product is minimal. I love the glass front and the elimination of plastic. The fruit roll up try is plastic, but in all fairness it seems like it probably has to be. The unit runs quiet and you can turn the light on and off. The LED light shines REALLY bright; it’s wonderful and it lights up the whole inside not just one small area. The areas of ventilation are located smartly and still allow me to place the unit close to a refrigerator without impacting the operation.

I have a HUGE dehydrator from the 1950's but I thought something more modern might be better to try.
This has more capacity than one of those round ones...I love the number of shelves. It also doesn't take up too much space on the counter. Still being used to a dehydrator that is 2' x 2'...I could still use more room.

Thinker3 : Greater capacity, but also better results than my old simple dehydrator
I got this dehydrator with the thought that it would have much more capacity than my old plastic dehydrator. It does. But the surprise is how much better the resulting dried fruit is. I use the dehydrator only when we have more fruit in our garden or pantry than we can eat. The old plastic one had four tiers; this one has eight. But the old one turned on by plugging in the plug. No way to adjust temperature or the time. I'd plug it in at night and turn it off when I woke up. Needless to say the fruit was often overly dry. Extra crunchy banana chips and figs. This dehydrator does not run as hot. So, it seems to take longer, but you can control the heat and set the time. The result is dry, but also moist and chewy. I am still experimenting with the adjustments. I suppose I could dry the fruit in this dehydrator long enough to reproduce the leathery texture of the old one, but the point is that I don't have to and I much prefer the chewier fruit.
Lubba Lardi : High 600w power, but uneven heating when full, so take care with meats
I had an underpowered dehydrator, and that one was slow especially when drying on all racks at the same time. This dehydrator was quicker when i only used four trays, but it heated unevenly when i used all 8 trays. I dried apples, and they came out fine. When i made my home-made seasoned not-lean beef jerky across 8 trays, a great recipe i learned from my brother, i could see the uneven heating in the final texture and done-ness of different pieces of beef. It worries me because i dont want to have to check the temperature of every single piece of jerky to be sure it is safely cooked, so i knocked this down to three stars. Useful for fruits and veggies, but i will have to test the temperature more before i trust this with meats.
