I have a HUGE dehydrator from the 1950's but I thought something more modern might be better to try.
This has more capacity than one of those round ones...I love the number of shelves. It also doesn't take up too much space on the counter. Still being used to a dehydrator that is 2' x 2'...I could still use more room.
It works fairly good as well. This would be ideal for someone that is doing a moderate amount of dehydrating.

I like to dehydrate onions and tomatoes and various harvests from the garden to store and this works pretty well, as long as you slice things thin enough because there isn't much room between racks if you want to use them all. I prefer the square shape though and find I can get a good amount in each load so it's pretty efficient. I haven't made jerky with it but for my purposes it has been dehydrating my veggies well. Instructions are a bit sketchy but if you are familar with dehyrdating and look up some charts online you won't have any problems. It's not the highest end machine, and it feels kinda like and cheap, but it does work for light to moderate use.

I just got a new puppy - it's been years and years since I had a puppy in the house as I normally choose to adopt rescued dogs that are no longer pups. Anyway, I want to make sure that I have some healthy, tasty treats for this little guy to facilitate his training into a polite canine companion not just for me but when he meets new people. Like many dogs he seems food oriented so treats will work. I thin-sliced a couple of sweet potatoes and placed the slices in this dehydrator. It worked really well! This is my first try at a dehydrator, so I'm maybe not the best to evaluate since I don't have anything to compare it against, but as far as the results I was expecting for my dog treats, this machine worked as it should. I'll have to find some other ideas for making treats for him, though I don't know if I would want to try making jerky. Meat and lower temperatures just seems like a health issue waiting to happen - at least for pets. I have eaten home made jerky before and it was very salty, something I would not give to a pet of mine as I may be able to tolerate some salt, but introducing that into a healthy pet...nope. I may try some fruits for myself, but at the moment, getting healthy dog treats is my main focus and this dehydrator has done that for me.

Easier to use and higher capacity than the round style dehydrators. We made salmon jerky for the dogs. And chicken. They love it.
If you are concerned what your dogs get as treats, or if you like dehydrated foods like apples, or if you want to make your own jerky or store some fruits and veg that you grow, this is a terrific dehydrator.
You can make "crackers" by spreading a slurry of ground flax seed, tomato, onion, garlic and herbs on a teflon sheet and letting it dehydrate. The sort of flexible sheet that results can be cut up with scissors and used like nacho chips or crackers if you are on a low starch (keto) diet.

This works great. I’ve been using this for fruits and the whole family loves it. This is a little bigger than I was expecting but I’m glad it was. It’s a perfect size for my family. It does take up a bit of counter space but I’m ok with that. It’s easy to use and does come with a book. I would highly recommend getting this dehydrator.
Lubba Lardi : High 600w power, but uneven heating when full, so take care with meats
I had an underpowered dehydrator, and that one was slow especially when drying on all racks at the same time. This dehydrator was quicker when i only used four trays, but it heated unevenly when i used all 8 trays. I dried apples, and they came out fine. When i made my home-made seasoned not-lean beef jerky across 8 trays, a great recipe i learned from my brother, i could see the uneven heating in the final texture and done-ness of different pieces of beef. It worries me because i dont want to have to check the temperature of every single piece of jerky to be sure it is safely cooked, so i knocked this down to three stars. Useful for fruits and veggies, but i will have to test the temperature more before i trust this with meats.
