Answer: definitely finicky....I have a hand pump and find I have to reposition the pump

Answer: It might be. The first time I used the bags my hand pump worked perfectly and all the air was removed. The second time I used them, I couldn’t get the air to come out at all. Not sure what the issue was.

Answer: I use the Ziploc hand pump. It takes 10-12 pumps before the seal opens and the air can be pumped out. I have also used a Vac-u-Vin hand pump. It takes the same “prepumping” that the other hand pump does.

Answer: Did you take off the clear plastic part and the white rubber tip? They come apart with a little twist. Wash with dish soap and let dry completely. Do not submerge the blue vacuum part but you can rinse it quickly under the tap and brush gently with an old toothbrush if necessary. I've had to do this a number of times and it still works fine. Oh, and make sure it is fully charged once you get it clean.

Answer: If you have a great done, the answer is no. This sealer did have the strong enough suction to take all the air out. I’ve been using it now for about a couple of weeks and never had a problem with air coming back in.

These vacuum seal bags are much like Food Saver bags. They are some harder to pull a vacuum on than the name brand bags. It requires a little finesse to get bags to work pressing to hard or to lighly will not complete a good seal. Once tbe seal is established they work well evacuatuating the air.

subrock : Superior to the Foodsaver bags, with a slight learning curve

In my opinion, these bags are superior to the foodsaver zip lock bags in construction. Closing the bag completely is easy, and the zipper portion of the bag is high quality, no hunting for the grooves to lock the bag. I haven't had to use the included tool to zip up these bags at all. The valve works well, but if you're used to the foodsaver bags there is slight learning curve.

The small flap of plastic that's punched into the valve isn't completely cut out, so your vacuum attachment of choice needs to break it before it starts removing all air from the bag. So, for my foodsaver attachment, the unit will rev up like the bag is devoid of air, and after a second or two it breaks that flap in the seal and works normally.

I bought these for sous vide cooking after seeing answers from the seller in the Q&A saying they can be boiled and will work for sous vide.

My initial test use was at 137F for four hours with some cheap ingredients and they worked great. The zip is VERY strong and the bags seem thick. I thought I had a winner.

The next day I made a much more extravagant recipe with high quality (expensive) ingredients. The temperature on this one was 182F for three hours, but I wasn’t worried. These bags look far tougher than the Ziplocks I’ve been using.

Two hours into the cook I discovered the bag had failed. The water bath was full of sauce and the inside of the bag had a bunch of water. Dinner was ruined. We ended up ordering pizza. And my sous vide machine was fouled with sauce.

These might be fine for the freezer, but don’t trust the seller when they say they’ll work for sous vide.

On a side note: When I was ordering, I thought it was funny that all the color options showed blue bags. I ordered red and then they arrived and I saw why the pictures were the same: I got blue. Not a big deal, but why bother pretending to offer different colors?

Also, on a more concerning note, looking at the description now, I’m struck by the fact that whether or not they are BPA-free isn’t even mentioned. If they aren’t, then they are entirely inappropriate for sous vide even at lower temperatures, and questionably appropriate even for freezer use. It seems like it would be mentioned if they are BPA-free, so now I’m left to wonder if I should just throw them out. Hopefully I’ll get an answer soon on that.

Product works fine as long as you don’t have a lot of meat/produce to do at a time. The suction/seal button stopped functioning after using it about a dozen times and I had to use the individual suction and seal buttons. It still works, but I would have thought it would have lasted longer. It came with seal pouches and a roll which was great, but you always use more than you think so you should order extra rolls!
Do I recommend this product, yes it’s good for home use.

I just got this in the mail today, but after charging for a bit I was able to vacuum seal several bags of freshly dehydrated veggies. I have a food saver that takes up you much counter space, so I usually keep it in a cabinet and avoid using it. I hope this makes it easy to store foods and have less waste.

I do like these zip sealing bags. The seal is very good, and a bit tough for my arthritic hands, but the handy-dandy zip device they include helps tremendously. The valve works perfectly with my hand held Food Saver Vacuum Sealer, and the bags are thick and freeze and reuse very well. So much more economical than the Food Saver brand too.

I have wasted sooooo much $ I don’t have on big vacuum sealer machines and always had to return them but this product is the BEST EVER & I highly recommend it to save $ and keep food a veryyyyy long time so nothing is wasted and I need that since I don’t have an income and my youngest son is veryyy disabled and sickly so I need every penny for him and all his necessities to survive daily in his life!!!!! The gallon size bags take a while to suction but just pick machine up and place down harder on a flat surface and it works great!!!! My favorite is the quart size bags and they never unseal in my fridge, freezer, or cabinet!!!!

It took a little while (5 tries) to find the proper alignment to seal the bag, but after I got used to the product I LOVE IT. I used it to seal my dog pill pockets right now. I can easily see using it for marinating meat. This product rocks.

I sealed my celery, my tomatoes and avocado, and put them in the refrigerator, and they feel and look like I just bought them. This is a great sealer, I just wish they would offer containers so we could save leftover spaghetti sauce, and other leftovers. It gets the job done so quickly, and the price is very reasonable for all you get. I'm really enjoying this product.

David G. Deutsch : THE WATER BATH METHOD IS BETTER, BUT THIS WORKS PERFECTLY WITH IT!!!!!

This works well enough, especially for removing air from bags that are mostly flat (i.e. containing, sauces, soups, flat cakes). I use this device, and then get a perfect air removal job with the water bath method: After sucking the air out of the bag with this device, leave a tiny corner of the bag unzipped, submerge the sous vide bag (zip lock bag) slowly under water. As you push the bag deeper the water pressure pushes the air out of the bag. When you've submerged the bag completely (except for the unzipped corner), seal the unzipped corner of the bag and remove the bag from the water bath. You should have a "vacuum packed" looking sealed bag. The suction device + the water bath method make a perfect seal, as good as that of a FOODSAVER machine - and much easier and less expensive.

Flo Skerratt : Tight seals keep food fresh

Once the air is removed, these bags stay tightly sealed and air out. These are the only bags that keep food fresh. The bags are heavy and well designed. This is the only brand I will buy.

Steph : Doesn’t seem to make an airtight seal

I really wanted to like this product. The little suction machine was cool and worked at vacuum sealing the bags and the assortment works generally well for our household needs. I just have 2 issues.

The first is it’s a bit hard to zip up the bag. Definitely harder than a typical ziplock bag. This is a bit of an annoyance but something I can live with.

The second is that the bag is not air/water tight. I can suck out the air and the next day, it will have re-inflated. This makes it useless as a way to vacuum seal food for extended storage, and I can’t use it to sous vide. Which was the original purpose of getting this.

Will test a little more to see if it’s just one bag that can’t seal, otherwise I may have to return the set. 2 stars was bc I really liked the nifty suction machine.

I buy meat in bulk/family packages, then divide them into smaller bags for the freezer. I was surprised the bags were larger than any of the others I've been using. But that's fine. gives me space for any larger pieces. The bags are heavy, strong and should last me a long time.

Product works fine as long as you don’t have a lot of meat/produce to do at a time. The suction/seal button stopped functioning after using it about a dozen times and I had to use the individual suction and seal buttons. It still works, but I would have thought it would have lasted longer. It came with seal pouches and a roll which was great, but you always use more than you think so you should order extra rolls!
Do I recommend this product, yes it’s good for home use.

Val : Defective after one use, no warranty

After just one use (sealing 3 small bags) the “charging status light” stays always on, making the product unsafe to use (I guess there is a shortcut somewhere inside). I had the pump for a little more that a month, but there is no warranty on the product, so it’s a waste of money.

Allows multiple use of storage bags. I buy Fritos in bulk packaging and divide and store individual serving of one ounce each. this bag keeps them crisp for weeks.

t : Do not hold seal for very long

Really had high hopes for these but only about 20% of the bags maintain their seal after a few hours. So disappointed. I really very carefully endure nothing gets on the zipper track plus I very diligent close the zipper, go over it again and again to ensure seal. I pump it and suck air out ok BUT the seal doesn’t hold for more than a few hours in most of the bags. Very frustrating. Even the extra self adhesive “ports” don’t help.

subrock : Superior to the Foodsaver bags, with a slight learning curve

In my opinion, these bags are superior to the foodsaver zip lock bags in construction. Closing the bag completely is easy, and the zipper portion of the bag is high quality, no hunting for the grooves to lock the bag. I haven't had to use the included tool to zip up these bags at all. The valve works well, but if you're used to the foodsaver bags there is slight learning curve.

The small flap of plastic that's punched into the valve isn't completely cut out, so your vacuum attachment of choice needs to break it before it starts removing all air from the bag. So, for my foodsaver attachment, the unit will rev up like the bag is devoid of air, and after a second or two it breaks that flap in the seal and works normally.

Tom Judge : Good bags but maybe less frugal than FS bags.

Been buying thse bags for a while & just now realized the white clips than come with them are NOT part of packaging! They are to help completly close the zip! Duh! Overall these are superior to Food Saver bags. However, we wash & reuse vac zipper bags much as feasible (after soaking in very HOT water) and the vac ports seem to wear out faster on these than the Food Saver zipper bags. Not sure yet which is more frugal (vs cheaper).
