Wilde's Cabbage : The Ball-less Sports Equivalent

From the makers of the hugely popular Moon Ball ...certainly at our son's school, this new Airlyft is also quite unique.

Its super aerodynamic - a perfect shape for flight. Even in the slightest wind, it can travel a good distance. It's very light, made of squash stiff nylon, with a lightweight silicone ring to one end.

It can be thrown, flung, heaved, launched and lobbed a number of ways, by the tail end or even by the 'o' ring. Always behaving differently depending on how you propel it.

We've been taking it on our country walks, it comes into it's own in a vast open space. The bright colours helps it get noticed in the young maize fields, but adds an extra challenge for the kids to forage for it when it inadvertently changes directions in the light wind.

The kids equally love pitching it at each other from one side of the hall to the other whilst indoors in the most obscure ways - to make it all the more difficult to catch. In the absence of indoor squash club due to Covid, it offers a ball-less equivalent.

This glider came very well packaged. And the last thing you want is that they get destroyed whilst on the way to you.

With 3 boys at home you want them to burn their energy as much as they can. This does exactly that.

Very simply made - the bottom circle part is heavier than the rest of the item, it is made of silicone like material. The rest is just the light weight paper and glued fabric on top.

Quite pleasant to touch and play with. It does glide a very long distance.

Clb1066 : Long distance outdoor glider toy -- recommended!

Waboba's Airlyft is a new, or at least new to me, outdoor glider toy for ages 6+. It is available in several designs -- mine is a black and white 'tribal' print with a green ring; it is made of nylon fabric and a TPE ring.

This toy is said to glide over 30 metres, but our garden is considerably shorter than 30 metres so I will have to take the manufacturer's word for this.

It's a revolutionary design with a hollow shape that's engineered for maximum lift as air passes through the tunnel.

It's pretty easy for anyone to throw it high or far in a variety of ways e.g. overhand or underhand throw. And you can choose to throw it by the ring or the tail. It is hours of fun as you work out your throwing technique to get it to fly higher and/or further. It's good for a simple game of catch or for a range of other competitions e.g. who can throw the furthest, the highest etc.

To be fair, it is pretty flimsy looking and arrives in a brown patterned cardboard box with a cardboard tube inside the Airlyft. However, we think that it is probably more robust than it looks, although we plan to insert the cardboard tube and put in the cardboard box when not in use.

We are pleased with this toy and we are happy to recommend -- it's price point of £6 (at time of review) seems reasonable too.

This is an unusual item and something I’ve never seen before.
Easy to use, can be thrown in different ways and will move differently depend on the throw.
Lots of fun, my kids has a mad half an hour out throwing this about, chasing and catching it before bedtime, lots of laughs were had and it tired them out .. it a winner.

Such a simple product but what a clever idea! It's lightweight so can travel about with us and provides lots of entertainment inside without breaking the TV and outside. It's got some range on it! It's that easy to learn to throw my 4 year old can participate too. Such a great way to pass the time

I'd say the best thing about the Airlyft is ease of use, just throw it and look it at soar. It's like frisbee but not as much effort.

Airlyft is just a paper like tube with a rubber end, you throw it and it carries through the air not unlike a shuttlecock.

Me and my son had great fun playing with it, throwing it to each other, seeing how high we could get it and coming up with games. Its pretty decent for indoor or outdoor activities.

Overall this is good easy fun, five stars.

It doesn't look like much but, boy, can it travel. I underestimated it's ability and, with an effortless throw, it travelled the length of my garden and I was worried I would lose it. Really good for big open space - can't imagine playing indoors.
Good for those with no great ability with throwing a ball, say; will not tire someone as quickly.
Introduces one to the idea of aeronamic design.
Not for catch though - I suggest target or distance throwing to compete. Is not a substitute for frisbee, it offers something different.
