Moti Hertz : Worked on first cast from a boat ramp

After two hours of fishing today with no luck, it starts to rain. Walk back to the car to pack up and I remember I have this new Rapala lure that is supposed to swim shallow. Figured I'd finally try it out. I put it on and walk back to the boat ramp and throw it as far as I can out into the river. I am nervous because I have lost so many lures getting hung up from this boat ramp. But I bought this because it's pitched as a shallow swimmer. So I start jerking it, stopping it, slow-swim and fast-swim, etc. in a medium current. And then I got hung up as I feared...no...wait! There's a damn fish on my line! A smallie just shy of 1 lb. Do not just cast and reel this lure...you gotta work it, make it act like how we think a baitfish in distress would act. Worked for me today.
