My suggestion is to leave the herbs on the stems because small loose leaves might blow around inside the unit as the fan is fairly strong.
Q:

Answer: stainless steel Trays don't bend proble will last for ever easy to clean.
Q:
I'm not an "extreme prepper"—I've kids & a spouse to protect if "bad stuff"occurs. Could this help me make longer-lasting food "provisions"? Thank you
Answer: I absolutely believe it would. Although this came with no recipe book, I googled recipes and in most cases has to adjust the time down. I did meats of course, but also strawberries. The key is if it is to remain at room temperature that you make sure it is dry. The meats I vacuumed packed to keep longer, and some were in zip lock bags and in the refrigerator. This also has a small footprint so fits on the counter. It is also easy to clean.
Q:
Does it dry evenly, or is rotation necessary?
Answer: It dries very evenly and haven't had to rotate anything, though if you have a lot of different sizes and levels of ripeness, it helps to check towards the end and remove the fruit that's done as you go. We use this a lot because we have a lot of different fruit trees, and you can only make so much jam and jellies - though we also end up freezing a lot of fruit in addition to giving a lot away and eating it and feeding the not so perfect fruit to the wildlife. The VERESIX food dehydrator is one of the best investments we made this year to handle the situation where you have more fruit than you know what to do with.
Q:
Does this make fruit crunchy like freeze dried fruit?
Answer: No, it is a dehydrater not a freeze dryer. The only fruit I have dried so far is oranges. It definitely takes the moisture out, and the dried fruit is delicious. The rind of the orange was crunchy
Q:
Is the machine made of stainless steel or only the trays?
Answer: inside & Trays are stainless steel, it’s made of food grade stainless steel. an attractive machine and the trays are easy to clean.I love and highly recommend this product.
Q:
Came with 4 mesh trays, but only one tray for drying fruit, and it states it comes with 2 anti-stick mats. Where is the second one?
Answer: Mine didn't come with anti stick mats at all
Q:
What grade and thickness is the stainless steel?
Answer: Not sure what grade of steel it is. All I can say is that it does not get hot on the outside . I have my dehydrator in use most days. It does a great job.
Q:
Do I need oxygen absorbers if I want to make dehydrated meals and use them the same week for backpacking?
Answer: Really depend what you are dehydrating and how. dry you dehydrated it for. i have dehydrated squash, pork, and beef from 6hrs -12 hrs and they can last for over a week without packaging the oxygen absorber pack in there
Q:
How do you keep nuts and seeds from slipping thru the trays?can you use frozen fruit?
Answer: You could try using one of the solid plastic trays.Yes you can dehydrate frozen fruit in the dehydrator.

Q:
Is there any way to make the plastic smell go away?
Answer: I never noticed a smell but I’d say after one use you should be good to go
Q:

Answer: I’m in NY we use 110 watts. I used couple times already. Every time I used for 7 hours or more. This is average time to get fruit dry. Doesn’t see any problem.
Answer: 350W
Answer: The Instruction Manual shows 350W
Q:
Does this work in the range of 100 to 240Volts or only 110v? i'm taking it over seas.
Answer: It is only good with 100V, 60 cycle AC.
Q:
How much spacing beyween the trays? Otherwise how thick can something be without being squished by the tray above?
Answer: The bottom 3 shelves are about 1 1/2 inches apart. The top shelf about 2 1/2 inches to top of machine. This is a wonderful dehydrator. I don't know why you would want one with the shelves farther apart. If you put big chunks of food in, it will take you a LONG time to dehydrate, and maybe you won't get the food dehydrated at all. This is meant for thin slices of food, not large chunks.
Answer: 1 inch unless you remove a tray

Q:
Where can I find trays that can be used for making fruit leathers?
Answer: This comes with 2 trays. Also bought extra mesh inserts for the metal trays. Not sure how they work, haven't used them yet.
Q:
Does this dehydrator make a lot of noise or runs quiet?
Answer: The unit is very very quite. You barely hear fan noise
Answer: It’s really quiet while it runs but I’ll admit when the timer goes off it’s pretty annoying haha
Answer: It is very quiet! Can barely hear it.
Q:
what is the overall size of dehydrator?
Answer: It’s smaller then you would think but you can fit a decent amount of things in it. I mainly do beef jerky. It holds almost 2 pounds of meat.
Q:
What is the average time for dehydration to take full effect?
Answer: Depends on what you are dehydrating. Jerky takes 6 hours at 158, tomatoes i did for 10 hrs at 135, zucchini chips 12 at 140
Q:
what is the temperature range on this? can it go below 95 degrees to be set to 85 degrees if needed?
Answer: 95 degrees to 158
Q:
Is it BPA free
Answer: It is all metal.
Q:
Is the entire unit metal, I see the interior and trays are metal but what out the outside of the unit is that metal also?
Answer: Outside is hard plastic. Also, the catch tray on the bottom is plastic.
Q:
Is the fan rear mounted?
Answer: Yes, the fan is at the rear of this food dehydrator.
Q:
Does it come with a recipe booklet?
Answer: No
Q:
Turn timer alert off
Answer: yes

Product reviews of Food Dehydrator Machine - Digital Adjustable Timer and Temperature Control Dryer Dehydrators for Food and Jerky, Herbs, Meat, Fruit, Veggies, with 4 Stainless Steel Trays and 2 Anti-stick Mat
M. Heath : Great for small jobs.
This was great for drying some fruit. It is smaller which I liked but I included a picture with a wine bottle for reference. It will also fit nicely in my pantry between uses. Worked well, quiet. Next I will try with my basil!
Lusine Odabashyan : Slow but good
So far we used it to make jerky, it works slowly but well. The only feature I don’t like is when the buzzer goes off it sounds like a loud fire alarm. Overall it’s a good product.
Emily Funke : it's not the size of the dehydrater, it's how you use it!
The machine is decently quiet. The unit is small so it hides nicely on a counter. Only thing I do not like is how loud the beeps are when setting the temperature and duration. The racks fit snugly and they clean up well. Overall, this is a great little unit for the cost since other machines tend to be much larger and are an eyesore on your kitchen counter.
Suzanne L. : Works great and although it’s small it holds a ton!
I love this dehydrator! It is slimline and sits on my counter without taking up tons of room! I love the trays. They hold so much more than you think. I use it to dehydrate liver snacks for my pups. Works great. The digital controls are easy to use. It’s a no brainer. I had an old tray huge plastic model and had to keep arranging the trays to get food to dehydrate at the same rate. I hated it. With this dehydrator I just set it and can leave the house. I don’t have to move trays and everything I put in it dehydrates all the same. Just set it and forget it! I do wish it came with recipes but I just look them up on line.
Tom : Love this thing! Runs all night!
Love this thing! Has barely been off since I bought it! Venison Jerky, Beef Jerky, multiple batches of pineapple, cherries, cantaloupe, oregano, basil, thyme. I wanted a small one with a small footprint and it’s perfect. The 4 trays works really well for me. Sits on top of my microwave and runs all night. Love it!
Brian Lund : Perfect for small, infrequent use
This dehydrator is great, basic tool. It works very effectively in the 95-155 degree range, is very quiet, fits easily in the kitchen, and is extremely light and easy to stow. It's small but make efficient use of its footprint. If you don't need high capacity, it's a great value.
Katelyn : 10/10 recommend heres why!!!
Very easy settings, easy to use, easy to clean, perfect size for me, very nice front window door. If your looking for good quality with a price that wont take half your check this is the way to go im a clearance secrion shopper and this is the best product i could find for the price through a couple different websites. I also loved that it came with the two wet mats or fruit mats as they say i didnt want to have to buy those separately. Overall a great purchase. 10/10 would recommend.
Taxlady : good for small batches
This is easy to clean. It works well for small batches. It runs quiet. I likecthatvit has temperature control.
Garam : Great product
This machine is very simple and easy to use. I don't like too many functions and decorations. It is the perfect size for me. So it doesn’t take up too much space. I have made veggies, fruits, and herbs and have come out perfectly. The food dehydrator is pretty quiet and easy to clean. Good price compared to other products!
Kittycula : Small, and easy to wash
My favorite food dehydrator out there, highly recommend (:
Leo : Love this thing!
So excited to receive this, ordered last night got it this morning! Works well for freeze dried fruit, making them as snacks for my one year old. Love this product!
m.a. : Quiet And Small But With Drawbacks
I have dehydrated foods for years and have used an Excalibur for large batch drying. I thought this machine would be good for small batches and it is. But with the low wattage it does take much longer to dehydrate foods. so far I have dried apples, rasperries, oranges and frozen strawberries. The controls are easy to use but it's frustrating that the temperature can't be lowered by degrees but it's a minor concern. The steel trays are nice but food does stick to them. I had extra mesh trays for my Excalibur and cut them to size and lay them over the metal trays. I also only received one plastic tray not two so check your order. All in all its a nice machine for light duty and it does save on counter space.
Molly B : Very straightforward and gets the job done!
So far, I’ve dehydrated pickles, oranges, and grapefruit, and I’m delighted with the ease of the product’s use! I feel it’s much safer and energy efficient than using an oven for the same purpose. I’m looking forward to experimenting with the things I dehydrate!
Sheepshead Bay : A great little dehydrator at a reasonable price.
There were some attractive features that decided me on this dehydrator. One, it is very small and light so is easily stored away when not in use. Two, with the fan in the back, heat is distributed more evenly thus negating the (minor) annoyance of having to rotate the trays every one or two hours. Three, the trays are metal, not plastic, making them easier to clean. Four, it is incredibly quiet. Even if I'm working in the kitchen while it's on, it's very difficult to hear and would not disturb conversation or background music.
I have now made several things, including zucchini chips, dehydrated oranges and pineapple, tomato powder, and onion powder. I would strongly suggest having a good mandolin and something like a spice grinder or blender if you are considering fruit or vegetable powders.
Taken altogether, this dehydrator is perfect for my needs.
Suzanne L. : Works great and although it’s small it holds a ton!
I love this dehydrator! It is slimline and sits on my counter without taking up tons of room! I love the trays. They hold so much more than you think. I use it to dehydrate liver snacks for my pups. I do wish it came with recipes but I just look them up on line.
Sam9272 : Small but powerful
I love that this dehydrator is easy to store and fits easily on the counter. It is easy to change the controls and works well!
Yve : Made tasty beef jerky
I just made my very first batch of beef jerky yesterday. Oh my goodness! This is so cool. It's so easy to use, which is great for me because I can barely run the microwave. Everything works perfectly. It was a little louder than I expected, but nothing terribly annoying. The temperature control was good. It cleaned up really easily and stores well inside my cabinet.
Elizabeth deWolfe : Works well, low noise, and no smell
We're headed to BWCA this summer. I've started dehydrating our trail meals instead of buying expensive food packs. This dehydrator has been amazing. It has a smaller capacity, but for two of us it's perfect. Food for four has kept it going round the clock. It has held up, though. No smell when doing the initial "test" run or since. It makes a small hum, but nothing very loud or that would be distracting. We are very pleased with it.
Natalie : So far so good!
I have only used this once and it worked well so far. It is very quiet. The only down side is it wouldn’t let me adjust to a specific temperature and only allowed increments.
Gail : Great compact dehydrator
Bought this as a first try at dehydrating. Very pleased with the results. Have dehydrated fruit, vegetables and made jerky. Like the compact size, lightweight. Very easy to use. The temperature control could be in smaller increments but I haven't really found this to be a problem. Great size for small batches.
Mexiguns : Pleasantly surprised
Great machine in a small size it’s great for a small family to make jerky and treats for my pets instated making jerky for the family and hopefully for friends. I’m going to try to make some fruit roll ups . Next I will try to make some dried fruit and see how it comes out. I will make dog treats for our dog and maybe some for the local dogs in my neighborhood.
Peter Hernandez : Great value
Love this dehydrator so far! It made chicken jerky in about 4 hours, nice and chewy. And it’s super quiet. I can barely hear it on the counter. It holds more than you think at first glance. Will definitely be making good use of this, especially for an upcoming road trip/move.
Mothership : Good if you need a small dehydrator
It's a bit smaller than I need, but it works well. Doesn't take up a lot of counter space which is great.
Techie : Compact but powerful!
I've previously owned a food dehydrator but it was huge, bulky and took up way too much counter space. So I always thought that's just the way food dehydrators are until I found this one. It's very beautifully made and barely takes up any counter space, actually smaller than my toaster oven, but does exactly what its supposed to. This is perfect for making dried fruits as snacks and also dog treats! A great purchase.
Brownx : Easy to Use
It’s compact and easy to set up. I would have loved a few recipes or guidance on temperature and duration for some fruits and veggies but there’s plenty out there on the internet. Looking forward to using this as a way of preserving produce from my garden.
Alice Ceballos : Smaller Then Expected
This is great for making jerky and dried fruit but it is a lot smaller then I expected. it is the size for a single person or maybe up to a 3 household family but way too small for my bunch of 10. I like it and it works great just don't have the time or energy to do multiple batches so there is enough for everyone . It is easy to clean, easy to use and made really well. You can even use it for crafts for making your own poperti and such as well.
R Willow : Works great!
Works great and fun to use. My favorite things to make with it are banana and apple chips. So tasty!
Emiliee : Great for the price!
We really wanted a good starter dehydrator. This is a great one, especially for the price! Once it came in we thought it was maybe too small for what we wanted. We tested it out first with some beef jerky. It surprisingly held a lot of meat! It held about 1.5lb of steak, that was perfect for just the two of us. I was shocked on how quite it was and how quickly our house started to smell like yummy jerky. Since it is a smaller dehydrator it is a very quick and easy clean! Very happy so far, over all with the product.
Jasmine Yang : Great tool for family
This food dehydrator is a great tool to me. I don’t have to worry about my fruit turn bad any more. Great size to my kitchen and very easy to be use and clean. Turn my fruit to health dried fruit and also keep the yummy taste at all
Josh : Best little jerky maker
I bought this because I needed a small appliance to make beef jerky with and this is hands down the best option you could ask for. Super easy to clean and its super quiet while running. I will say the timer is a bit loud but other than that this little guy is ace ????
Mary E : Perfect space saving food dehydrator.
The temperature control can only be adjusted in increments of 9, have to kind of guess a little but I love that I can watch the process. My banana chips were more chewy than I expected but I tried a method that I should not have. I wish there was a recipe book but all in all the small size is perfect for my husband and I. Buying dehydrated fruit is just too costly, this will more than serve it’s purpose.
Emiller1775 : Perfect dehydrator for small space
I love to bake decorated sugar cookies. I love, even more, tools that make the job easier and more efficient. I purchased the Veresix food dehydrator before the holidays to crank out holiday cookies. Adding this dehydrator has cut my dry time, significantly! Since then, I have been using this food dehydrator every single week.
While I knew I wanted a food dehydrator, I was initially drawn to the Veresix KYS-308B model because of the size. I prefer a minimalist kitchen, so counter space was an issue. This food dehydrator is easy to store when it is not in use and easy to take out when I need to use it. It measures about 12”x10”x8” all together. There are four trays in total which are about 9”x7” and depending on the size of cookies, I can usually place around 6 cookies to dry on each tray.
I would usually wait for my royal icing to dry or crust over before adding additional designs. Now I can place flooded cookies in the food dehydrator at the lowest temperature for maybe 20minutes. Again, significantly reducing the amount of time I would take to decorate.
Bonus, after using the food dehydrator, decorated cookies are shiner as opposed to matte.
This food dehydrator is extremely easy to assemble and use. Very easy to keep clean. Temperature range is from 95-158F. And I think the time range is 1-24 hours.
My only regret is that I did not purchase this early.
Brandon : Smaller than it looks in pictures
Smaller than it looks in the pictures. Seems to have a little more space per tray than the presto dehydrators so that's why I bought it. A little expensive but looks nice.
Jordan Marshall : Keeps the Flavor of hydrated foods
I never owned a dehydrator before and i am very satisfied that the veresix was my first one. I dehydrated some coconut meat and the flavor of the coconut after dehydrating was very very tasty just like the original. Great for making healthy snacks for children. its a great way to make veggie chips from beet chips to kale chips or even coconut chips ! I do wish that I could set the time to be only a few hours and still get the same results, usually it takes up to ten hours, so you wouldnt be able to enjoy your dried snacks until later in the evening or the next day.
YJ : Nice and big
Nice and big, easy to use and clean. Finally can make my own organic dry fruits for dessert
Donna : Small
This is a very small dehydrator. It's okay and does the job for herbs and such. Was not impressed with fruits and vegetables.
bounti : So far so good.
Bought this to use for post cure for resin. So far so good, no issue, maintains heat well for the time allotted. Enjoy the small footprint as well. Only downfall is short power cable (3ft ish), but power strip/extension cable is an easy fix.
Wacker : Works Great for Jerky
Made beef jerky worked great. Fruit stuck to the grids. Need solution for that.
Abbey : Perfect starter dehydrator
So far we have been happy with our results. The food dehydrator is very easy to use and runs quietly. You can open the door during the process to check your food and it resumes as soon as the door is closed. It’s not as big as I was expecting but I am very happy overall.

flaquitadelcielo : Small and full of plastic
The machine is tiny, the photos really misrepresent the actual size. I would probably be OK with it being tiny but it has way too much plastic to my taste, all outside and inside surfaces are plastic. Mind that, according to the manual you are to expect "normal" "fumes" or "vapors" to come out of the machine when you first turn it on. No thank you.

Martin Vargas : Amazing!!
This product is truly amazing! At first I was a little skeptical because it is so small, but I quickly realized that it actually fits quite a bit of food in it and it’s more than enough! It’s very easy to set the temp and the time. It also automatically shuts off when the timer ends! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking!
Brownx : Easy to Use
It’s compact and easy to set up. I would have loved a few recipes or guidance on temperature and duration for some fruits and veggies but there’s plenty out there on the internet. Looking forward to using this as a way of preserving produce from my garden.
