Answer: You sure can! Use the lowest setting of 95 degrees F. It comes with two herb drying trays that is plastic OR you can use parchment paper on the four stainless steel trays that come with the unit. My suggestion is to leave the herbs on the stems because small loose leaves might blow around inside the unit as the fan is fairly strong.

Can this be plugged into a 220V outlet ?

Answer: No, this dehydrator is designed to be used with a power supply of 120V. Using it with a power supply of 220V may cause the unit to short out.

Answer: I absolutely believe it would. Although this came with no recipe book, I googled recipes and in most cases has to adjust the time down. I did meats of course, but also strawberries. The key is if it is to remain at room temperature that you make sure it is dry. The meats I vacuumed packed to keep longer, and some were in zip lock bags and in the refrigerator. This also has a small footprint so fits on the counter. It is also easy to clean.

Does it dry evenly, or is rotation necessary?

Answer: It dries very evenly and haven't had to rotate anything, though if you have a lot of different sizes and levels of ripeness, it helps to check towards the end and remove the fruit that's done as you go. We use this a lot because we have a lot of different fruit trees, and you can only make so much jam and jellies - though we also end up freezing a lot of fruit in addition to giving a lot away and eating it and feeding the not so perfect fruit to the wildlife. The VERESIX food dehydrator is one of the best investments we made this year to handle the situation where you have more fruit than you know what to do with.

Does this make fruit crunchy like freeze dried fruit?

Answer: No, it is a dehydrater not a freeze dryer.The only fruit I have dried so far is oranges. It definitely takes the moisture out, and the dried fruit is delicious. The rind of the orange was crunchy

Came with 4 mesh trays, but only one tray for drying fruit, and it states it comes with 2 anti-stick mats. Where is the second one?

Answer: Mine didn't come with anti stick mats at all

Answer: Not sure what grade of steel it is. All I can say is that it does not get hot on the outside . I have my dehydrator in use most days. It does a great job.

Do I need oxygen absorbers if I want to make dehydrated meals and use them the same week for backpacking?

Answer: Really depend what you are dehydrating and how. dry you dehydrated it for. i have dehydrated squash, pork, and beef from 6hrs -12 hrs and they can last for over a week without packaging the oxygen absorber pack in there

Answer: I never noticed a smell but I’d say after one use you should be good to go

Answer: I’m in NY we use 110 watts. I used couple times already. Every time I used for 7 hours or more. This is average time to get fruit dry. Doesn’t see any problem.

Answer: The bottom 3 shelves are about 1 1/2 inches apart. The top shelf about 2 1/2 inches to top of machine. This is a wonderful dehydrator. I don't know why you would want one with the shelves farther apart. If you put big chunks of food in, it will take you a LONG time to dehydrate, and maybe you won't get the food dehydrated at all. This is meant for thin slices of food, not large chunks.

Bought this as a first try at dehydrating. Very pleased with the results. Have dehydrated fruit, vegetables and made jerky. Like the compact size, lightweight. Very easy to use. The temperature control could be in smaller increments but I haven't really found this to be a problem. Great size for small batches.

I love this little dehydrator. In fact it was the small size that intrigued me. That was the only complaint I found. I make carrots for my chinchillas. It was a great investment that has saved me money. I've been using it for quite a few months now, and I have had zero issues.

The machine is tiny, the photos really misrepresent the actual size. I would probably be OK with it being tiny but it has way too much plastic to my taste, all outside and inside surfaces are plastic. Mind that, according to the manual you are to expect "normal" "fumes" or "vapors" to come out of the machine when you first turn it on. No thank you.

Bought this to use for post cure for resin. So far so good, no issue, maintains heat well for the time allotted. Enjoy the small footprint as well. Only downfall is short power cable (3ft ish), but power strip/extension cable is an easy fix.

m.a. : Quiet And Small But With Drawbacks

I have dehydrated foods for years and have used an Excalibur for large batch drying. I thought this machine would be good for small batches and it is. But with the low wattage it does take much longer to dehydrate foods. so far I have dried apples, rasperries, oranges and frozen strawberries. The controls are easy to use but it's frustrating that the temperature can't be lowered by degrees but it's a minor concern. The steel trays are nice but food does stick to them. I had extra mesh trays for my Excalibur and cut them to size and lay them over the metal trays. I also only received one plastic tray not two so check your order. All in all its a nice machine for light duty and it does save on counter space.

The temperature control can only be adjusted in increments of 9, have to kind of guess a little but I love that I can watch the process. My banana chips were more chewy than I expected but I tried a method that I should not have. I wish there was a recipe book but all in all the small size is perfect for my husband and I. I love to bake decorated sugar cookies. I love, even more, tools that make the job easier and more efficient. I purchased the Veresix food dehydrator before the holidays to crank out holiday cookies. Adding this dehydrator has cut my dry time, significantly! Since then, I have been using this food dehydrator every single week.

While I knew I wanted a food dehydrator, I was initially drawn to the Veresix KYS-308B model because of the size. I prefer a minimalist kitchen, so counter space was an issue. This food dehydrator is easy to store when it is not in use and easy to take out when I need to use it. It measures about 12”x10”x8” all together. There are four trays in total which are about 9”x7” and depending on the size of cookies, I can usually place around 6 cookies to dry on each tray.

I would usually wait for my royal icing to dry or crust over before adding additional designs. Now I can place flooded cookies in the food dehydrator at the lowest temperature for maybe 20minutes. Again, significantly reducing the amount of time I would take to decorate.

Bonus, after using the food dehydrator, decorated cookies are shiner as opposed to matte.

This food dehydrator is extremely easy to assemble and use. Very easy to keep clean. Temperature range is from 95-158F. And I think the time range is 1-24 hours.

My only regret is that I did not purchase this early.

The device is easy to use and clean, runs quietly and is small and out of the way. Based on another question/answer comment, I marinated and then cooked 1.5 lbs of Top Round jerky for 6 hours at 158degrees but the end result was very dry and hard jerky. The second time, I tried for five hours with the same dry result. I wish the manufacturer included a few sample recipes as well as suggested cooking times and temperatures to reduce the trail and error but I'm not giving up until I crack the code.

This little thing is pretty great for the price! It dries everything I've put in it perfectly while looking a hell of a lot better than other dehydrators on the market for around the same price. It's notification is pretty loud but you can either live with it or just find the circuit like I did, I wouldn't mess with it alot though its plastic build probably isn't the strongest. Comes with some trays, they are fine for what they are but I wouldn't beat on em. Oh, I also like that I can dry things that are taller than half an inch unlike the stacking dehydrators. So if you are looking for a dehydrator that's easy to use, and doesn't look like shit next to your other appliances look no further.

We're headed to BWCA this summer. I've started dehydrating our trail meals instead of buying expensive food packs. This dehydrator has been amazing. It has a smaller capacity, but for two of us it's perfect. Food for four has kept it going round the clock. It has held up, though. No smell when doing the initial "test" run or since. It makes a small hum, but nothing very loud or that would be distracting. We are very pleased with it.

This was the perfect little dryer for my needs. It's small but has 4 removable metal mesh tray and two plastic tray also. The trays are very easy to clean off. I bought it to make grapes into raisins from my backyard vines and it work perfectly in just 10 hours. It's very quiet and easy to operate. Its about half the size of a small microwave but it holds a lot of fruit! I highly recommend it and would buy it as a gift too as it's reasonably priced.

It is extremely compact and doesn't take up much space while in use. However do pay attention to the size as it's smaller than I was expecting. For 1 person this would be great! There's 4 small trays, easy to use, and made good jerkey. However with a couple kids it's almost too small. One other thing is that you are limited on temps only going up 2 150 degrees max..I'm new at dehydrators so if this is common and not super important take that with a grain of salt. I am happy with the dehydrator as it is easy to clean, use and store. Very compact for limited kitchen space, did a good job so far with multiple batches of beef jerkey and pretty quite. Shipped fast and came in good shape.

Light, cute powerhouse- so far I have dehydrated lemons, oranges, and limes. Just put the fruit in and .... forget it about it- there’s a timer. I did check in - this may help you to adjust the time. I also sliced everything thin and as consistent as possible- this helps.
