Answer: You sure can! Use the lowest setting of 95 degrees F. It comes with two herb drying trays that is plastic OR you can use parchment paper on the four stainless steel trays that come with the unit. My suggestion is to leave the herbs on the stems because small loose leaves might blow around inside the unit as the fan is fairly strong.

Can this be plugged into a 220V outlet ?

Answer: No, this dehydrator is designed to be used with a power supply of 120V. Using it with a power supply of 220V may cause the unit to short out.

Answer: I absolutely believe it would. Although this came with no recipe book, I googled recipes and in most cases has to adjust the time down. I did meats of course, but also strawberries. The key is if it is to remain at room temperature that you make sure it is dry. The meats I vacuumed packed to keep longer, and some were in zip lock bags and in the refrigerator. This also has a small footprint so fits on the counter. It is also easy to clean.

Does it dry evenly, or is rotation necessary?

Answer: It dries very evenly and haven't had to rotate anything, though if you have a lot of different sizes and levels of ripeness, it helps to check towards the end and remove the fruit that's done as you go. We use this a lot because we have a lot of different fruit trees, and you can only make so much jam and jellies - though we also end up freezing a lot of fruit in addition to giving a lot away and eating it and feeding the not so perfect fruit to the wildlife. The VERESIX food dehydrator is one of the best investments we made this year to handle the situation where you have more fruit than you know what to do with.

Does this make fruit crunchy like freeze dried fruit?

Answer: No, it is a dehydrater not a freeze dryer.The only fruit I have dried so far is oranges. It definitely takes the moisture out, and the dried fruit is delicious. The rind of the orange was crunchy

Is the machine made of stainless steel or only the trays?

Answer: inside & Trays are stainless steel, it’s made of food grade stainless steel. an attractive machine and the trays are easy to clean.I love and highly recommend this product.

Came with 4 mesh trays, but only one tray for drying fruit, and it states it comes with 2 anti-stick mats. Where is the second one?

Answer: Mine didn't come with anti stick mats at all

What grade and thickness is the stainless steel?

Answer: Not sure what grade of steel it is. All I can say is that it does not get hot on the outside . I have my dehydrator in use most days. It does a great job.

Do I need oxygen absorbers if I want to make dehydrated meals and use them the same week for backpacking?

Answer: Really depend what you are dehydrating and how. dry you dehydrated it for. i have dehydrated squash, pork, and beef from 6hrs -12 hrs and they can last for over a week without packaging the oxygen absorber pack in there

Answer: I never noticed a smell but I’d say after one use you should be good to go

Answer: I’m in NY we use 110 watts. I used couple times already. Every time I used for 7 hours or more. This is average time to get fruit dry. Doesn’t see any problem.

Answer: The bottom 3 shelves are about 1 1/2 inches apart. The top shelf about 2 1/2 inches to top of machine. This is a wonderful dehydrator. I don't know why you would want one with the shelves farther apart. If you put big chunks of food in, it will take you a LONG time to dehydrate, and maybe you won't get the food dehydrated at all. This is meant for thin slices of food, not large chunks.

-size: perfect to stay on the counter. Doesn’t take up too much space, but still gets a good amount of food dehydrated in one go with 4 racks.
-easy to clean: all4 racks come out and so does the drip plate in the bottom. Easy to wash and wipe out interior
-stainless steel racks: we don’t like plastic In our house, so very glad to have metal
-quiet when running

Cons: the only thing I don’t like is that you cannot change the temperature setting by degrees of 1. It goes up or down several degrees with each turn of the dial. I’m not a fan of this

This is an amazing dehydrator, especially for the price. I needed something with more vertical space than the stackable dehydrators and went with this one because it was about half the price of others. It has 4 removable trays that allow you to put larger items and they will not get crushed. The removable trays make for easy cleaning. It also has an adjustable temperature control and timer. The entire unit is small enough that it doesn’t take up too much space and look like an eyesore, and it fits in nicely in a cabinet when you’re done. Unless you need a giant dehydrator for bulk items, this has everything.

The temperature control can only be adjusted in increments of 9, have to kind of guess a little but I love that I can watch the process. This is a wonderful product for saving money on my food bill regarding seasonal fresh food aside from freezing it! It is smaller than it looks which is a good thing. Doesn't take up a lot of counter space. You can still make a good amount of jerkey in it. The adjustable temp isn't fully adjustable, it just selects between preset temperatures which are mist commonly used for different products. Pretty simple controls.

It is extremely compact and doesn't take up much space while in use. However do pay attention to the size as it's smaller than I was expecting. For 1 person this would be great! There's 4 small trays, easy to use, and made good jerkey. However with a couple kids it's almost too small. One other thing is that you are limited on temps only going up 2 150 degrees max..I'm new at dehydrators so if this is common and not super important take that with a grain of salt. I am happy with the dehydrator as it is easy to clean, use and store. Very compact for limited kitchen space, did a good job so far with multiple batches of beef jerkey and pretty quite. Shipped fast and came in good shape.

We really wanted a good starter dehydrator. This is a great one, especially for the price! Once it came in we thought it was maybe too small for what we wanted. We tested it out first with some beef jerky. It surprisingly held a lot of meat! It held about 1.5lb of steak, that was perfect for just the two of us. I was shocked on how quite it was and how quickly our house started to smell like yummy jerky. Since it is a smaller dehydrator it is a very quick and easy clean! Keep in mind it's rather small. It fits about 3 pounds of raw tomatoes, two pounds of beef or tuna.

My wife bought this specifically to make chicken jerky for our large dog. The dehydrator is very easy to use, with knobs to set temperature and time. Jerky can be made either chewy or crispy. She's been making a batch a week, and right now we're making beef jerky for our son. Simply spraying the 4 racks with vegetable oil makes them very easy to clean.

This is great for making jerky and dried fruit but it is a lot smaller then I expected. it is the size for a single person or maybe up to a 3 household family but way too small for my bunch of 10. I never owned a dehydrator before and i am very satisfied that the veresix was my first one. I dehydrated some coconut meat and the flavor of the coconut after dehydrating was very very tasty just like the original. Great for making healthy snacks for children. its a great way to make veggie chips from beet chips to kale chips or even coconut chips !
I do wish that I could set the time to be only a few hours and still get the same results, usually it takes up to ten hours, so you wouldnt be able to enjoy your dried snacks until later in the evening or the next day.

The device is easy to use and clean, runs quietly and is small and out of the way. Based on another question/answer comment, I marinated and then cooked 1.5 lbs of Top Round jerky for 6 hours at 158degrees but the end result was very dry and hard jerky. The second time, I tried for five hours with the same dry result. I wish the manufacturer included a few sample recipes as well as suggested cooking times and temperatures to reduce the trail and error but I'm not giving up until I crack the code.

I love to bake decorated sugar cookies. I love, even more, tools that make the job easier and more efficient. I purchased the Veresix food dehydrator before the holidays to crank out holiday cookies. Adding this dehydrator has cut my dry time, significantly! Since then, I have been using this food dehydrator every single week.

While I knew I wanted a food dehydrator, I was initially drawn to the Veresix KYS-308B model because of the size. I prefer a minimalist kitchen, so counter space was an issue. This food dehydrator is easy to store when it is not in use and easy to take out when I need to use it. It measures about 12”x10”x8” all together. There are four trays in total which are about 9”x7” and depending on the size of cookies, I can usually place around 6 cookies to dry on each tray.

I would usually wait for my royal icing to dry or crust over before adding additional designs. Now I can place flooded cookies in the food dehydrator at the lowest temperature for maybe 20minutes. Again, significantly reducing the amount of time I would take to decorate.

Bonus, after using the food dehydrator, decorated cookies are shiner as opposed to matte.

This food dehydrator is extremely easy to assemble and use. Very easy to keep clean. Temperature range is from 95-158F. And I think the time range is 1-24 hours.

My only regret is that I did not purchase this early.

First time making beef jerky when my unit came in. I love that it is so light and compact. I bought pre-cut strips at Wal-Mart (they are pre-cut for stir-fry) and ended up with some of the best jerky I have ever tasted. I got it down to (2) hours. The first hour I had temp at 158 degrees and the second hour 140 degrees. (This was thinly sliced meat) and it came out so well. I'm very happy with this purchase! Only negative thing I could say is the unit does not come with any recipes but you can find them online. It would been great if someone familiar with unit would at at least gave out a couple recipes.
