Answer: I have precooked and post cooked. I found that after words is best. 275 degrees for 10 minutes

Answer: NO... just a very underpowered heating element... NO FAN.. DO NOT BUY IT IS JUNK

I've used the dehydrator 2x once for kale chips once for beef jerky. no complaints yet but was surprised there is no temperature control. The lid can be twisted to control ventilation but the design of the vents is weird, full open on both extremes, low is somewhere in the middle ??
The gun broke the first time I squeezed jerky out of it. I was able to finish the project by pressing the plunger and extruding the meat with difficulty

I absolutely love this machine!! 1st one I had got over 20 yrs, bout 15yrs ago, I had it on top of a toaster oven. Which melted the bottom, so it set a little wonky. But it still works till this day!! I recently decided to get a new1. I was shocked the company was still in business! Great little machine. Load it up, plug it in, rotate trays ever so often and its done! Easy Peasy! 1 of the gentlemen from the company returned my call. Was asking questions about the jerky gun. He was great! If anyone is wondering what the star and the Christmas looking attachments are for, it is for something like fruit roll ups. Anyway its a fruit thing. Happy cooking!!

I’m drying apples and mushrooms and just about anything I find that I want to save for later. The food is good and my Jerky tastes better than the stuff I bought. This keeps food from being wasted. That’s a good thing.

1.5 DAYS... yes DAYS!! to make beef jerky according to the manuel... WTH... And the Jerky gun is actually a bigger hunk of crap than it looks to be in the picture... it instantly broke... I would love to throw this P.O.S in the trash... Cannot return this fast enough... BUY ANY OTHER ONE THAN THIS ... or just leave stuff on the counter.... probably will dry out faster
