What is the hard plastic white circle tray with the hole in the middle used for?

Answer: I have this unit and didn't get a hard plastic white circle tray with a hole in the middle.... other than the dehydrator itself where the heat and fan mechanisms are. The clear perforated trays stack on top of it. In my experience, there was no white circle tray.

Answer: Your question is hard to understand. The five trays have a approximate 3" hole in the center to allow the warm fan driven air to circulate to the top trays. To expand on this it's good to rotate the trays to help facilitate even drying.

Answer: You might try to see if the company has a website, other than that I'm not sure. Maybe Amazon?

can you dehydrate full meals with this?

Answer: You could, but it would be a lot of work to get the meat cut thin enough to dehydrate without a meat slicer. You would have jerky. The vegetables would have to be cut in thin slices and would probably have to be re hydrated for consumption.

Answer: I am not sure why one would like to do that however; by volume, yes you could. The recommended way of using a dehydrator is to dry like things together due to the size, thickness and drying time needed for various food products. For example, while you certainly could dry meat for jerky and yogurt at the same time, your yogurt would taste of meat/spices and would dry much faster than your meat. Hope that clears it up.

Answer: I can't answer that for you. I bought mine to remove moisture from my 3D printing filament. With some modifications of the shelves, I am able to stack 3 spools at a time. It works great for my needs.

Would Ronco trays fit this unit?

Answer: They do not. I purchased them because it was made to appear that they will work. I can not find a premade insert to fit so I have had to make my own. For the money this is a good unit, I teach classes and show the lower cost model and the better models for comparison.

What material are the trays made up of? Hoping they are not plastic at such high temperatures.

Answer: They are made of a high temperature plastic material. They don't melt but do get brittle after continued use at high temperatures. We lost two of the trays already and the others are showing signs of cracking. We have had ours for a few months and have made jerky 5-6 times with it.

Answer: The plastic is a food safe plastic able to withstand the temperatures. Not dishwasher safe.

How Good is this dehydrator work for making beef jerky

Answer: I thought it worked fine and it was why I bought it to begin with. BUT, it was sort of odd that the instruction booklet only talked about veggies and fruits, nothing about jerky. If you have good recipes it works great for jerky or other meats.

Answer: Sorry Robert! I haven't used it yet. I'm sure you can stack more than five trays, i just not so sure if the heat circulation is sufficient through out and evenly among many trays. Good luck!

R. Williams : Seems good for drying 3D printing filament!

I bought this to dry 3d printing filament. I have avoided dealing with drying filament and in a year of printing, I'd been lucky enough to get decent results without worrying about it. After switching to different filaments recently, I found that this filament that I love was no longer printable. I got very weak prints if they printed...Plus, I could hear the popping and hissing at the nozzle.

I figured of the methods available to dry filament, the food dehydrator would be most cost effective. This one arrived today. I simply used wire side cutters and cut the grating cleanly. I only cut a hole large enough for my roll to fit with some wiggle room.

So far, I've dried PETG on 170F. It has made was an unprintable roll print flawlessly. Great purchase, wish I bought it sooner!

Cons: by looking at the pictures the trays are no deeper than the component that heats it, the trays are less than half an inch deep, they are made with very very cheap plastic. The lid and trays are a soft plastic form oh, so I do not see them holding up very long to the heat they're going to get brittle and break very quickly, trying to find replacements is very difficult. It is 1 foot in diameter and the trays are less than half an inch tall
Pro: I do like that it has a temperature. The area where the heat comes through the tray on the very bottom has a lip so if there are any liquids that rip off your food it will not go into the motor it has a switch that lights up so you do know it is on.I paid $58 I believe through Amazon that is extremely way overpriced for what I got it should have been listed down with the 35 and $45 ones but with Amazon it was rated as for stars and more that is only reason I got it

Evan Walker : Thin plastic, thin racks, ineffective dehydrator.

Very flimsy plastic, acrylic arrived cracked so it does not close well. Electronics work fine, but the unit itself is very thin plastic and subject to damage. The racks are also very narrow, so drying thicker products is not feasible or downright impossible. You are better off spending more and getting a functional unit for drying.

It really is a set it and forget it for 6 or 7 hours dehydrator. The only negative is the space between layout disks. There are two settings for this, but even the larger one is small for fruit. Fruit has to be done one disk at a time and that takes a lot of time to complete.

Use this to dry filament. I printed a roller that fits inside. I used an old caked tupperware lid on top. I apped that with a through fitting. I now dry my filament while I print. Nice and simple. One temp knob and on off switch.

Dehydrator itself works fine. The trays are another story. After using it 1 time I put the trays in the sink to wash them. I picked them up and 4 of the 5 were broke. I know they aren't dishwasher safe but I guess hot water isn't his fire them either. I have 1 tray left after one use.

Works like a charm. Quick delivery. This is a very nice dehydrator, the only thing I have issues with is the instruction manual. This dehydrator has a temperature knob ranging from 95 degrees F to 165 degrees F. There are no instructions as to where it should be set for various foods. My last dehydrator had a much more comprehensive instruction manual and even had instructions for dehydrating all different types of fruits, vegetables, and meats.

Good dehydrator for the price. I've made two batches of beef jerky that turned out excellent! Dried several batches of apple slices and pineapple and it did a great job. Just need to rotate the trays a couple of times during the drying process and everything will dry at the same time from top to bottom. Cleans up easily and simple to operate. I've been very pleased.

Very easy to use and clean. Instructions were focused on fruit and veg when I bought this for jerky so I had to do more research on time/temps for meat. The variable temp range is great and circulating fan all work well. Very pleased!

The dehydrator works fine for simple jobs like making chips, dried fruit, etc., but the trays have broken in some form or fashion every time I've used it. I no longer have a single tray intact. They break in USE, too. It wasn't because I was being rough with them or washing them in hot water. They just have cracked during the dehydration process.
