Does this work on acetate?

Answer: The one I received did not work at all.

The description calls it a vaccuum sealer but the reviews only mention resealing chip bags, which would not be vaccuumed. So...does it vaccuum?

Answer: NO it just reseals bags to keep them fresh

I have held mine down for 5 seconds an nothing happened then I tried to hold it down longer nothing happened. What am I doing wrong?

Answer: Are the batteries dead? You might be using the wrong side, one side is a sealer and the other is a cutter

Answer: I had the same problem and my husband figured out that I thought the big +/- signs on the back of the battery compartment indicated the battery direction. NOPE! That shows you which side cuts/seals. The battery direction is indicated on the wells for the individual batteries. Maybe you had the same issue?

Will this seal 3mil trash bags?

Answer: I just tried to seal a UPS bag. It seals the opening and cuts the bag perfectly. I'm gonna say that its thicker than a trash bag. I hope this helps you out.

Will this work on a thin sandwich bag or is it only for thicker plastic chip bags?

Answer: Probably not. I purchased 2 of these and neither one works well at sealing. It really seems like a great tool, but again does not work well unless the item you are closing is small and flat. wouldn't recommend

Will this seal in liquids?

Answer: It can seal liquids as long as the bag is dry on the outside.

Answer: The one I ordered did not seal anything. I returned it as defective. Maybe some of them work but I didn't want to waste time finding out.

Will this work on cold bags for example if I took out some frozen veggies and broke half off can I seal it while the bag is cold?

Answer: Yes because it heats up to seal the bag

Will this work on food saver bags?

Answer: I doubt it very much, as when I use it I find I have to go back over the same area I just sealed, more times than not. It works reasonably well on something like a bag of pretzels or potato chips. My Food Saver has to put out a lot more heat, as well as work longer when it deals one of their plastic bags.

No, you can't expect to go at it like shrek and get results. No, you cant expect to seal a bag that looks like it's been chewed up and spit out. It takes finesse. If you straighten the bag up, press it for 3 to 5 seconds and go at a steady pace, it works. You have to get a sense for how long to press it depending on what you're sealing; the thinner the bag the shorter time and faster you slide it. It got 4 stars because I couldn't get an airtight seal (even though it did seal it) on my marshmallow bag, but its probably better than a twist tie anyway. But all the chip bags in my house are now sealed with this, and I'm way too excited to continue to use this and save on disposable bags

So I have been debating on this item for a couple months. We are usually good with chip bag clips but I really hate having to hunt one down if I run out. I decided why not give this a shot. I am very pleased how easy this little tool is to use in the kitchen. I had a big bag of kettle corn that after some kids and parents to munch on it, you get all that extra plastic to mess with when closing. So I decided to put this gadget to the test. I liked to start from the middle and moved right and flip the bag to do it again. I found that method easier than trying to start from an edge (popcorn bag is flimsy plastic, it might be better with a thick plastic). Anyway, I have some ideas to little travel bags for the kids on roads trips and I think this gadget might be my new kitchen buddy.

Very easy to use! Comes with batteries so I always consider this a plus. It comes with a cutting end and a sealing end and though it does use heat to seal the bags, it still seems like magic to me. My bags always stay nice and sealed.

I was a little skeptical about this thing at first, but I’m actually really impressed. After putting the batteries in, I was able to use it almost instantly. The trick is to hold it together for 2-4 seconds to allow it to heat up, then you can seal things. It took a little getting used to, but now I can reseal almost everything. I love it; it’s a totally must have!

Overall this works ok. It is a bit tricky to use as the sealing mechanism can cut the bag if you hold it too long. Once it is sealed, it does keep whatever is in the bag fresh.

It takes a little practice on how to place the sealer on the bag to be sealed, but works well after a few test sealings.
Various plastic thicknesses require a few test sealings to develop you sealing technique.

ME : how did i live without this gadget??

i realize there are more important things on the planet but this is definitely one of those "how did i live without it" gadgets that just makes life easier. I honestly hate chip clips: first, they don't keep bagged foods (like chips) extremely fresh/crisp. They break all the time. And they take up way too much space in my small condo where storage and kitchen drawers are limited in my galley kitchen. This thing is amazing! It has a hook to hang it so i have it in a cabinet with command strips/hook to store it. it really heats up with a simple push of the button and when you slide it across your bag, it literally reseals it like the factory seal. I LOVE IT, get one! And gift a few to your OCD friends, they will love it and you.

I saw videos on how cool this little gadget was and decided to purchase it. It does work; however, you probably have to do it multiple times to make sure there are no holes in between the seal. The best way is to not make a big opening to the potato chip bag. It seals a small opening really well but with big openings; it must be repeated multiple times.

Semi-sturdy plastic with a nice hanging clip. Packaging was damaged but I can chalk that up to Amazon being cheap and hiring contractors to run deliveries. One side slices bags open (still haven’t used that feature once) and the other seals of course. Well, you’d think it’d seal the bag, but there’s always gaps. I consistently have to run the thing over my bags 3-4 times to get a PASSABLE seal. I’ve practiced for far longer than I care to admit, and I’ve decided at this point it’s fair to partially blame the product. This is cheaper and much nicer than having a zillion “chip-clips” laying around my kitchen. Give it a try and if you don’t like it the company has a decent return policy. I have a feeling by the end of your test drive you’ll come to the same conclusion as me, it’s a fancy and semi-pretentious tool designed to do one thing that can be achieved with scotch tape, but once you have it it’s nice enough to keep ;)

Spicy Lea : Seals as advertised, still need scissors

The sealer portion works well, albeit it takes a little practice. It is difficult if you try to start sealing at the very end. I start about an inch in from where I want the seal to start. Then after holding it down for about 5 seconds to heat up, I seal to the other edge. For thicker bags, you need to move slower. For thinner bags, more quickly. If you try to move too slow on thin bags, then you can actually melt holes in the bag. So if you are not sure, start by going quicker and if it doesn’t seal, then go slower. Once it is sealed from where I started, an inch away from the edge, then I go back and seal that gap. It really is easy with a little practice.

The cutting blade is good for certain applications, but once again, it takes a little practice. I tended to always try to use the wrong side of the blade at first. The cutter does not work well if the bag is too thick. It works best with thin bags like chocolate chip bags. It does not work at all if the seal is too far from the top edge of the bag, as you can only stick the bag so far into the tool. So you may still need to use scissors around because if you tear the bag, you risk making the edge jagged and hard to seal.

I like the hook, I hang it from the pull on my cabinet where the chips are (and it stays out of reach to my 3 yr old)

I like that it uses common sized batteries so I can use my rechargeables . The cover on the battery compartment snaps off a little too easily and sometimes it slides when I am using it.
