My scale is showing “unst” on the display and is not functioning correctly? Is there a fix for this?

Is this scale really waterproof?

Answer: First of all, they say it's water RESISTANT, so I'm pretty sure it is not waterproof. I do know there is a thin gasket (silicone?) around the battery compartment cover. I assume there is a gasket between the two halves of the case, but I'm not going to open it up to check. I'm almost positive the measuring tape compartment is not waterproof, because the slot the tape comes out of appears to be just like any tiny measuring tape slot. My thought: if saltwater gets in there, it's curtains for that measuring tape.

Answer: I can’t say if it’s WATERPROOF but I think water resistant is a better term. Mine has gotten splashed and rained on several times with no problems but I wouldn’t bet on fully submerging it for any extended time. Hopefully that helps!

Does this scale have a tare button to use with fish grippers or net? I dont see an option for it.

Answer: Yes, you can use the middle button (POWER) briefly to tare.

Does it round to the nearest thenth? So would 2.36 round to 2.4 or will it show the minimum at 2.3?

Answer: I do not know if it rounds up or down. I'd guess if you need precision like that, a hand-held scale won't suit your needs.

My scale says err when turned on. how do i get it to work now?

Does this scale have a weight hold function?

Answer: Not sure what you mean by weight hold function but it does allow up to 10 seconds for the load to stabilize and beeps when the weight reading is locked in, the weight reading auto unlocks after 30 seconds or can be manually cleared by pressing the power button once. It also has a Save A Weight To Memory and allows you to save up to 10 weights. hope this helps.

Complete waste of money. Weight accuracy is completely off. I went to use it for the first time and what appeared to be a 1.5 pound fish showed as a .5 pound fish. I went to test it against weights that I have at home. 10 pounds showed as 3.2 pounds. 15 pounds showed as 5.8 pounds.

I had got this product for bass fishing and it's my go to. It is really easy to use both the scale and ruler makes life easy, it's a perfect back up when you forget the ruler at the car after a mile or two hike to the lake.

Carried it with me into river to weigh and measure fish my first trip using it. Stored in my bag I pulled it out had water that seeped through screen then it would not turn on. I replaced the batteries it turned on but not off. left for a few minutes the screen would shut off. Pressing the power button it would not turn on so weighing my fish was not an option. I will not carry a screw driver to keep trying to turn on the scale during a trip.

Bought this in May and it's now September and its stopped working. Its been used maybe 5-6 times and kept in a dry storage box in my bass boat. Ive changed batteries and it just shows "UnSe" across the screen.

I finally got to use this scale last week and Couldn't help but to notice it was weighing light. So when I got home I tied one of my twenty pound weights to it, and sure enough it only registered as between 17.3lbs and 18.1lbs...its a 20 pound weight. If any of them work I'd like to see it

Very easy to use. Alot of scales do not toggle well between KG and Lbs. This one does very easily. Also, the scale has the non-slip grip that make it easy to hold your fish. Works very well with no puncture fish grips. Also the scale is incredibly accurate to the ounce. I weighed a mailing package with USPS with a preshippimg label and it was the exact weight at the post office. Definitely nice knowing if your tournament fishing. This scale has a ruler built in as well! Great value for the money!

The buttons are VERY NICE. The display is just too easy to read. The blaze orange handle is easy to see when you are out in the mountain ranges of Florida or the deserts of Ireland. Raymond : Not water Resistent. Any dampness causes it to be inoperable. Don't buy this for fishing.

Purchased this item in May to use in my kayak. Unit has remained in my crate storage and has never been submerged or exposed to direct water contact. My crate has a lid, but does allow for water to pass through when it rains, so the contents may get damp, but there is never standing water inside the crate. The power button will no longer turn the unit on or off, nor will it allow me to zero the scale. The only way to get the unit to power on is to remove the batteries and replace them. The unit button and memory buttons work fine, but not the power button, which is needed to zero the scale, does not work at all. Not designed for fishing.

Just got into bow fishing and shot a monster common carp. I didn’t have a scale, but after some research I wish I would have. So I got this one and I have no worries I’ll miss out on the next catch. Easy to use and no worries if I drop it into the lake because of the bright color and it’s ability to float.

Finally found an easy to use scale for fishing. I've not checked for accuracy, but it seems right on, and it's simple to use. My one suggestion is that it come with a float that can be attached to the handle. I've lost other scales before, and that sucks. I'll be careful with this one.

So far so good. Haven’t got to use the scale in the field yet but I will get to use it this Memorial weekend. The handle is comfortable to hold but the body is made of plastic. Not sure if it will actually hold up to 110lbs but I hoping to find out. I did test it out on some known weights and it is very accurate. I will update this review if anything changes.

This scale is great. I needed something that had a big enough hook to hang large fish on, and the fact the hook attached to the body of the scale is also nice.

I tested it with some 5 pound weights, and some 25 pound Olympic plates. Come to find out, the 5 pound weights I was using were off, by about .4 pounds. The scale did weigh the Olympic plates within .03 pounds, which, IMO, is perfectly acceptable for the price of this scale.

Its very easy to read, regardless of the amount of sun. Even when the sun was directly overhead, it was still very easy to read.

Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase, if there are any issues with it, I will be sure to update my review.

I think it’s a decent scale. It’s probably a little more accurate compared to other scales that are in this price range. It’s a little bulky but it gets the job done.

I really don’t think you should use the hook on it as a gill hook. I pair mine with a fish lip gripper or so I don’t hurt the fish. The hook is too small and you’re likely going to damage the fishes gills while trying to hook them with it.

I got this and it feels very solid in your hands, grips are very nice and the added tape measure coming oof the bottom is just fantastic because you can measure the fish while it's hanging on the scale. checked it with another good well known scale and it was within .08 of and ounce difference. can't go wrong with Kastking, gonna be one of my new go to products.

The black rubber on the handle started to melt off before i could weigh fish #2. It must be too hot in Florida for whatever the black handle is made of. I keep it inside the house when I am not using and still this happened. The device itself seems to work like it is supposed to. Just wish it would have stayed nicer newer longer. Mr. F : Lasted exactly one day

Power on - Power off is a bit of a nuisance, but once you’re accustomed to it (hold power until after the backlight mode changes, but keep holding to turn off) it’s not terrible, but it definitely throws you off when you have the backlight mode on and you think you’ve turned it off but you’ve only held it long enough to change modes… For example if you intend to turn it off when you have the backlight on… you hold the power button until it turns off (3 seconds)… so the backlight turns off, then you naturally release the power button, but it’s not off, so now you have to hold the power button another full three seconds to turn the backlight back on, then hold power again for another 5 seconds to turn it off… but again that’s a nuisance, not a deal breaker… The measuring tape is… not great, it’s cumbersome to pull it out, the tab is tiny, like way smaller than a pinky nail tiny, the tab is about 1/16” deep x 1/8” wide, and if you don’t have a perpendicular pull on that 1/16” sliver of the the tape measure it won’t pull out, not ideal while holding a 3-5 lb fish on the hook to measure it… the hook is great! well designed, and holds an angry 5 lb walleye without any issue… The deal breaker is the quality… quality is somewhere between useless and garbage…. I bought this as a Christmas gift for myself… and put it to use for the first time in June… the batteries showed low after the first day, but I wasn’t sure if the batteries were included or if I had put some in it after Christmas, but I had replacements on hand… changed the batteries and by the next day they showed low again… tried to use thereafter and at best it would power on, then immediately die…. Took it home from the fishing trip, thought maybe an unlucky soldier on the battery compartment etc., so I opened it up, the soldier is “ok” but shotty quality behind the cover, the wire to the batteries is unreasonably thin, like human hair thin, and NOT insulated, and that super thin tape measure is already leaving rust deposits inside the device…. One days’ use !!! Not in the rain, not dropped in water, just in the boat on a rough water day of fishing… but that super thin wire that can’t possibly last more than a season wasn’t the problem… tested with a multimeter and I have 3.1 volts across the wire leads to the internal box/computer… so the problem is inside the internal computer!!! I could bag-of-rice the computer, replace the fragile wire leads and keep the tape measure very well oiled for protection, then attempt to waterproof the computer if bag-of-rice works…. But it’s certainly not worth my time to do so… my time is better spent writing a review to warn others, and purchasing something else that is actually built to be used in a fishing environment.

There is a small imperfection in the display. It is under/in the glass and cannot be cleaned off. The manual said it would make an audible beep when the weight is locked in, mine makes no beep but that’s not a big deal. For the most part it seems to be well built and function properly.
