What size braid is good for this reel

Answer: I'm rigged for saltwater and am using 20# braid.

Answer: Are use 50 pound PowerPro works just fine caught an 85 pound black drum on this reel handled it no problem

How much 30 pound braid would take this reel?

Answer: I keep about 110 yards of Beyond Braid 30lb line on mine...

Answer: Not sure. Usually 30lb is meant for a much larger reel.

I see that the reel is now listed as lh retrieve is that true? because i see in the costumer images and in the q&a that it used to be listed as rh.

Answer: I bought this reel almost 2 months ago and it was used but you could not tell it is a flawless one of the smoothest reels I have ever used but it is a right handed retrieve reel and yes I have seen the pics of other reels on other websites that show them as left-handed but the one I bought is right handed hope this answer helps????

Answer: Yes it is LH retrieve. When I ordered mine I made sure that the image was from a LH and that it said it in the description and enough it was.

How much drag does it have, and what kind of casting distance does it have?

Answer: 20 lbs drag. Has handled redfish up to 15 lbs without any difficulty. I'm usually throwing 1/4 oz lures, so not sure on distance with bigger lures. I'm typically casting 40' - 60'. Great reel!

Answer: According to Lew's website it can get up to 20 lbs of drag but I've never personally tested it. With 20 lb braid and a 7 ft rod I'd like to say close to 60 - 70 feet. Maybe more depending on if you go heavier than a 1/2 oz lure.

Answer: It could be. I wouldn’t recommend it to catch tarpon, sharks or any other really large fish. But for fish that are smaller ran 40 inches, it does the job.

Answer: I find rather easy to complete routine maintenance to this reel. However, if you are not mechanically inclined, I suggested taking photos as you disassemble to make reassembly easy.

Miranda Maher : Robust reel for the money

Ive fished this reel for just over a year, throw everything from flukes and chatterbaits for bass to vudu shrimp, pompano jigs and even use it to drop live crabs for sheep and drum. It has been cleaned and greased twice in that amount of time. any noise seems to come from grains of sand against the spool, not bearing failure. Ive caught slot snook , over slot reds and 10+ lb black drum on it, even had about a 60lb tarpon almost spool me before pulling the hook. Worth every penny, probably going to buy a second to replace a cheaper reel that just failed.

Great product from a great company. I use this reel for steelhead in the winters, froggin for bass in summer. Never had an issue. Not the longest caster, but smooth and easy to manage. Should last a long time.

Title says it all. In any form of fishing, fresh or salt. I love this reel. Enough drag to put the brakes on big snook, fast enough to catch up with juvenile tarpon. It does it all. It’s my go to for topwaters and jerkbaits.

Rinse it thoroughly after every salt use and make sure to spin the handles to get the salt out of there. Clean and oil every couple of months as you would any other salt reel and you’ll never have a problem.

NeedIt : Smooth.

Replaced my old Pflueger I had for years. I am still getting accustomed to it, but I don't think it is the reels problem. It is nice, I like it.
