Would this 8500 size pair up fine with a 7ft. Tiger rod 20-50 line?

Answer: yes ,i have the 9500 I use 100 lb braid topped with 100 lb mono on a 400g jigging rod for deep drop jigging ,an 8500 would be great with a surf rod

Answer: It depends on the type of fishing you going to do. The fin nor 8500 is an offshore reel and will stand up to the test. Fin nor also has inshore reels which are very capable if you want to spin fishing as opposed to cast fishing.

Answer: Would maybe be a little oversized but nothing g worth worrying about I’d say. Great reels!

Is this the 2017 model?

Answer: I purchased a 9500A mid-November 2017; product photo was still showing the older model, however the model was shown as OFS9500A (2017 model) and that is what was delivered.

Answer: Not sure on the 8500 model... I just purchased two 9500 models and they're the older model. I also ordered a 4500 model and it's the 2017 model. (I actually prefer the older models myself)

Is this reel good for throwing top water lures, long casting lures like deadly dicks, and buck tails?

Answer: If you gonna use those types of lures and jigs than the fin nor 6500 might be on the heavy side unless you're out for big game the reel will stand up to the test. But if you're deep water channel fishing then you might want to conside the 4500 fin nor. But again why i prefered the 6500 fin nor offshore was it's not to heavy and it really is standing up to the test.

Answer: I am using it for heavy baits of 100 grams, it is a heavy and uncomfortable equipment for many sets, but I have caught a tuna of 60 kilos and another of 42, and at all times I have been able to dominate the fish, it is a very robust reel and recommended to fight with big fish.
