Answer: I am not sure if this would help him. I wade streams while fishing and use it to hold the rod while I am tying on a new fly. It keeps both my hands free to work. If he does any wading or is standing in a drift boat it might help.

This is the perfect item for anyone who fishes in rivers or anywhere for that matter. Gives you the third hand you need to hold your fly rod or spinning rod while you tie on a new fly, lure, egg sac, etc. Has made my trip on the salmon river so much easier.

Such a perfect tool to have when wading through waters and both hands needed. Some claim it is too tight, but found no issue myself

Item did not fit my 8wt fly rod double wells grips. Item seems to be constructed well but unable to place my rod in the holders. Would have caused damage to the cork grips if forced into the holders.

For the price this is a good rod holder, especially if attached to a thicker width belt like on fishing waders. The only problem i have found is that it is difficult to remove from your belt if you want to take it off since the bottom of the clip is hooked upwards and you have to bend the metal to get it off. It would be nicer if it was molded plastic or if it was a solid loop you could run your belt through. All in all, good product, just a few small changes would be nice.

I would love to give this product 5 stars but not fitting a 5wt fly rod does me no good. Maybe it might fit spinning rods but it sure doesn’t fit a fly rod.
