Answer: I bought this for my father in law & he loves it, I believe it is hard wood.

Answer: There is 1 1/4" maximum opening between the teeth of the clamp on the fish fillet board.

P.C. : Not hardwood as stated!

This is listed as a "hardwood" fish board, which would be maple, oak, hickory, etc. This board is either pine or balsam, neither being a hardwood, and is a very soft wood, not a particularly good wood for cutting on. I have sealed it with a food grade wood sealer and will hope for the best. I do think the clip and the way it is attached is the best of all the other boards advertised. The stars are for the clip and its attachment.

Perfect for ice fishing. We used it this weekend for several Walleyes ~22” and left it in a snow bank most of the time. Worked great. It’s lightweight, packable and has a good strong clamp.

Sturdy, nice quality board. The clamp is tight, however it is untreated wood and blood and scales are trapped in the wood even after scrubbing. Maybe pretreatment with a cutting board oil or wax would help protect it.
