The time in the booklet will get the fruit dry, but I like to add an additional 30 minutes so that the fruit is really crunchy -like a potato chip. I've made sweet potato chips for my dog also and she loves them from the dehydrator. I also suggest that you use a mandolin for cutting any fruit or vegetables so they are the same thickness when on the tray. That is the most important factor in using the dehydrator.

After reading so many reviews that said it was too loud, the other ones were def broken! This is MUCH more quiet then my stove hood fan, my bathroom fan down the hall is louder! Comes with the trays plus one insert that is a plastic mesh with much smaller holes and one insert that is a tray. So far we've made onion powder, pineapple, a lot of apples and random veggies. It is very quiet and seems to work very well. My only gripe is that the times in the book it comes with are on the low side. I live in humid eastern US and need to add 3-5 hours to what it has in the book. I lazily just set it up for overnight. The touch pad is easy, set temp, set countdown timer. Thats it.

I recently got this machine. I've been experimenting with it. The book really helps because it gives you a guideline as to how long to put in each item. Remember, it's just a guideline so you might need to put it in longer. I can't wait to try it out with mangoes. We also looked up beef jerky recipes. A lot of sites say that you need an additional step like putting it in the oven to kill additional bacteria for the beef jerky, so please make sure you do your research. However some people say they just use the machine. Never tried it. I got this machine during the covid-19 so that I can preserve food. Loving it so far! I have used it on apples, tomatoes and herbs!

Great price . I like the timer and heat setting options. Nice appearance. Things I don't care for as much are the plastic trays, I should have upgraded to metal trays. I'm afraid the plastic will break. I don't like the door design. It feels flimsy and you have to be aware that it closes properly. Solid unit for the mid price range. I can't speak for the taste. I use it for my dog treats.

Very nice looking food dehydrator. I've had it for a month now and have used it for only fruit so far. I've experimented with apples, blueberries and bananas. It comes with an insert mat for smaller fruits, nuts so they wont fall through which is convenient. Most of the fruit did stick to the trays on the first try so I sprayed it on the second use. Very nice item.

Maybe my dehydrator is defective, but the middle 3 trays slip right off the rungs that hold it. I have to keep trying to balance them perfectly so they don't fall. It's as if the trays are too narrow and don't sit solidly on the rungs. As soon as I put any items on the tray the weight makes them fall off the rungs. I would have returned but waited too long, will try to get replaced with warranty. My machine is definitely defective.

I really wanted to love this dehydrator but I just wasn’t feeling it, I want to believe it was something I was doing wrong but I tried everything to just simply dehydrate fruit and I have to believe that there is nothing complicated to that!! Anyhow I returned it for the Excalibur dehydrator which I absolutely love and I’m eating dehydrated kiwis from right now so the fact that everything came out so much more amazing in a completely different dehydrator for far less time tells me that something was a tad off. However if you don’t have an extra $100-200 than this dehydrator will do just fine just make sure to be patient if things don’t dehydrate right away be willing to let it run a tad longer!

I was very excited to get this dehydrator. When it arrived the box had looked as though it had been resealed. Upon opening and getting everything set up, there was a good size crack in the plastic by the door, a deep scratch on the top side of the unit and the display had various scratches on it. All indications that this was a used or refurbished item and not a new item as stated it would be sold as.

I just started dehydrating. This machine is easy to use. Fits nice on my counter top and does not make a lot of noise. The kids are loving the dried fried. Able to dehydrate a good amount of food at once.

I was very pleasantly surprised at how well this dehydrator works. It was super quiet. I set it up according to the provided instruction to dry some herbs. And when it's done, the herbs came out nice and dry and still retained its vibrant green sheen. Very happy!

This dehydrator met all of my expectations and more. I dried frozen, organic produce (we lose power often enough to make this valuable. 4 lbs of frozen peas fit into a quart jar!) it stores easily, so easy to clean. I bought the tray liners for drying chopped celery which slips through the tray grids easily.

This is my first Food Dehydrator and I am very happy with the purchase. I've been dehydrating fruits and vegetables almost every day since receiving it and it works very well. Still experimenting with the best settings for each fruit/vegetable (i.e. thickness, size, type, time, temperature), but the internet has ample information on best ways to dehydrate food. It is very easy to clean and very simple to operate. The fan is actually pretty quiet too!
Having a good time and my family is eating tons more fruits and vegetables than usual, so win/win all around.

I love drinking fruit tea. It’s great for your skin and body. It’s changet really expensive buying any different type of dried fruit to make your own tea. My friend suggested chefman food dehydrator machine to me. I absolutely loved it. It’s takes some time dehydrated the fruit but it’s totally worth it.

We eat a lot of fruit in our house and dehydrating is a great way to take it with us on hikes or dry canning when it goes on sale and we buy a bunch. After burning out several different dehydrators we have been thrilled with this and its been put through the paces. The first week we did a half a dozen pineapples, 9 bunches of bananas and a handful of kiwis. The second week was all about apple and strawberry chips and herbs from my tea garden. It's used at least a couple times a week since.
Relatively easy to clean. We use a nylon scrub brush and it works really well. I was amazed at how quiet it is. Even standing next to it it's hard to hear it going. My only complaint is that it did take some tweaking on temps and times with the various things we've dried. Not at all what the booklet had listed but not hard to figure out either. I do not like the fruit leather tray at all that came with it. Outside of that it fits nicely on my countertop and works beautifully.

That's right! My first unit works SO well, that I purchased a second one! Now I can dry 12 trays at a time!! I LOVE THESE MACHINES...SO easy to use, SO easy to clean and now I can dehydrate food for the winter (it gets cold and snowy where I am!) . The support from this company is beyond outstanding. (which is hard to find nowadays!) They work very hard to make sure you have exactly what you want and need. Communication between us has been quick, and efficient, and comfortable (important to me). These purchases have been THE BEST I've made in a very long time.

Drying time seems to take longer than specified, but I would think it is dependent on users preference of crispness.

Tantrictara : love this dehydrator
This is a great dehydrator, 6 trays and easy to sue. Only drawback was there was only 1 full plastic insert with high sides so only one tray for liquids or very small items. I contacted vendor and bought 5 more. I do many small items or items that become small once dehydrated and needed more inserts. I also purchased Teflon sheets to put on the trays. This makes cleanup easier when drying things like blueberries that get very small and leave purple stains.

I love this machine! It is so quiet, and has worked well for me. I've made sweet potato treats for my dogs, kale chips, strawberries, peaches, and banana chips. All have come out very tasty. When I received my unit, the drip pan was broken. I asked for a replacement and it was sent by FedEx the next day. Great customer support!

So pleased with this dehydrator! My old dehydrator died and I did not want to spend the money on an Excalibur but really wanted the timer and rear heat/fan features. After days or reading reviews on various products I finally placed my order for the Chefman and went to the store for jerky supplies so I could marinate the meat while my dehydrator was on the way. Once it arrived I wiped it all down with a damp cloth and let it run empty for about an hour then started my jerky. The heat/fan unit worked great drying all the trays without the need of rotating like I had to do with my old stacked dehydrator. So far I've made jerky, various fruits, and fruit leather. Looking forward to many more yummy treats!

This Dehydrator is great. My only complaint would be that the door design should be a little more robust. Other than that easy to use,and quiet just as advertised.

This is my first dehydrator and i really like it. I really wanted a dehydrator with a regular door hence the purchase and it did not disappoint. For those who may not know, the door is magnetic, so make sure you close it all the way when using the product.
