Answer: Yup.
Q:
whats the difference between this one and the other chefman for 89 dollars on amazon?
Answer: This is better
Q:
How are veggie chips (zucchini, beet, carrots, sweet potatoes)?
Answer: I use mine for dehydrating bananas and strawberries mostly. The time in the booklet will get the fruit dry, but I like to add an additional 30 minutes so that the fruit is really crunchy -like a potato chip. I've made sweet potato chips for my dog also and she loves them from the dehydrator. I also suggest that you use a mandolin for cutting any fruit or vegetables so they are the same thickness when on the tray. That is the most important factor in using the dehydrator.
Answer: I have done carrots and celery with this machine as well as jerky. I was completely satisfied. Just used the enclosed booklet to guide you on time and temperature then just set it and forget it!
Answer: Great, I love my dehydrator.
Q:
What are the preset temperture increments.
Answer: 30 min.
Answer: 30 min.
Q:
Can food duch as chilly beans be dehydrated. Would it required special containers?

Answer: Yes you can buy dried kidney beans in bags and store them in airtight containers
Q:
Could you please tell me the box or package dimensions?
Answer: Product Dimensions 13.6 x 17.5 x 12.4 inches
Answer: It's not real big .. will fit on any counter top nicely . Roughly the size of a microwave
Q:
Is it safe to deydrate chicken at only 158?
Answer: I've done it multiple times, but I do put it in the oven at 250 degrees for a few minutes to "finish" it.
Q:
Hi!, Excuse me, can you send to Mexico for free shipping too?
Answer: Hello, if you buy it from me, then yes I can send free shipping to Mexico.
Q:
Where is it made ?
Answer: Sorry I threw the box away, but I can say if you like to dehydrate beef jerky, I would get the nine rack, because I found out that six racks aren't enough space. Also stick with the square shaped machines verses the round ones. It is much easier to dry on the square racks compared to the round discs. Sorry again. I tried looking at the manual, with no results. Hope this helps.
Answer: made in china
Q:
What are the trays made out of?
Answer: The Chefman Digital Food Dehydrator's trays are made of BPA free plastic.
Answer: metal
Answer: Hard plastic with holes
Answer: reasonably durable plastic
Answer: Clear plastic
Answer: Plastic
Q:
The trays list as 13" x 12", but what is the internal height of the Dehydrator?
Answer: Just measured and mine is 9.25 in. high inside.
Q:
Does drying fruits and veggies diminish the vitamins in any way?
Answer: Every food loses some of it's value when you cook it. This is essentially cooking it at a low temp. It retains more then high heat cooking. Hope that helps!
Q:
Are the trays dishwasher safe ?
Answer: So far they have survived the industrial dishwasher at the restaurant, based on the material though I feel they will begin to warp eventually.
Q:
How many cookies will this fit? I’m looking for one to hold 2 dozen 3.5-4 inch cookies
Answer: It has 5 trays. It holds a lot. I dehydrate chicken for my pups and it works great!
Answer: Yes, you can put them close and with the all the racks in, it works great!
Answer: It has alot of trays so I think you'll have room
Q:
What temp and how long did the small cherry tomatoes take? It’s my first batch I’m confused on the temp range and time. Thank you
Answer: Use the same setting that you would for strawberries. The juicier the food, the longer they take. Hope this helps!
Q:
Can you dry nuts with this dehydrator?
Answer: Haven’t tried. Have Mae fruit roll ups and dried lots of fruits.
Q:
How energy-efficient is it?
Answer: Pretty efficient.
Answer: Unless you plan on running it 24/7, I would not think you would notice a difference in your electric bill.
Product reviews of Chefman Food Dehydrator Machine, Touch Screen Electric Multi-Tier Preserver, Meat or Beef Jerky Maker, Fruit Leather, Vegetable Dryer w/ 6 Slide Out Drying Rack Trays & Transparent Door, Black
c : Love this!
I love this machine! It is so quiet, and has worked well for me. I've made sweet potato treats for my dogs, kale chips, strawberries, peaches, and banana chips. All have come out very tasty. When I received my unit, the drip pan was broken. I asked for a replacement and it was sent by FedEx the next day. Great customer support!
Deborah Deveroux : Great Dehydrator
This is a great machine, making great “jerky”, “banana chips” , “dehydrated mushrooms” “Pineapple” and “apple chips.” Well worth the price
Chuck S : I use this to dehydrate 3d printing filament
No review on meats and veggies from me as I use it to keep my 3D printer filament free of moisture and for this it works wonderfully. More expensive than some of the crock-pot looking dehydrators. Trays are very nice. I'll no doubt try it for it's advertised purpose sometime.
Amazon Customer : Loving fruit snacks
I love this machine. First time dehydrating fruits. I have a mango tree and I wanted to find another way to keep the fruit longer besides freezing. Great mango fruit and leather snacks! So far I've made strawberry chips, banana, figs, pineapples, mango and I continue to experiment. Loving it! I only regret that the temperature doesn't go sny higher than 158. To make meat jerky you need 165 degrees which is the required temp in making beef/chicken jerky. They advise to use the oven to bring the meat to this temp after doing at 158. An extra step. It's OK but I would have wanted to know this upfront if I were to be making more jerky than fruit. It is still great product, very quiet easy to clean shelves just soak in soapy water swish them rinse.
Nizel A. : A solid buy for those beginning their dehydrating journey
I decided to start making my own jerky and a dehydrator sounded like a good idea. This one is kinda cheap and has a decent amount of settings. Having a digital timer and temperature setting is fantastic! You just set it and forget it. I do find that I have to leave the jerky in a little bit longer than it should because the door seems like it is cheaply made, resulting in some heat loss. It has a drip tray at the bottom which works out well considering the tray design. Clean up is a breeze, everything is plastic so nothing sticks, you just wipe it down and you're good to go!
J. : I felt misled.
This product does not heat up past 158°
in order to make jerky safely it has to at least be at 160.
I don’t feel like this should be sold with the intentions that jerky is safely made in this machine, this machine came with an instruction book that clearly stated that jerky that is made with beef is to be heated up at 160° and pork 165°
Buying this Machine stating that it makes jerky gives people a false impression that this machine can be safely used to dehydrate jerky.
So I wasted a large amount of meat and marination and put it on the trays to only find out that the machine heated up to 158° and not until I read the manual did I find out that it only went to 158 . I thought that I was doing something wrong with the buttons But now after reading found out that I would have to prepare it differently before putting it in the machine. What a waste of my time.
And for this amount of money you should be able to just make jerky in it without having to start the jerky process in the oven in order to make the meat Safe first, that is just way too much work. I am returning this machine and purchasing one that is a little bit more expensive and that heats up to 172.
Mark Paquin : Only thing I don't like, the trays fall out
Currently drying fruit. Only thing I don't like, the trays fall out, if you slide them out too far, while checking.
Amazon Customer : Fast dehydrating time and easy to use!! Love it.
This dehydrator is Amazing!!! Easy to move being so light. Made beef jerky with it done in 4 hours. Also made dried fruit. Love the fact it turns off when done. I'm busy chasing kids around and dont have time to check it. The only downside it the door make sure it is closed all the way. It kinda catches on the side. Love the window you can see clear thru. So you dont have to open like the round ones.
Viking22 : First time dehydrator and very happy with results.
This is my first Food Dehydrator and I am very happy with the purchase. I've been dehydrating fruits and vegetables almost every day since receiving it and it works very well. Still experimenting with the best settings for each fruit/vegetable (i.e. thickness, size, type, time, temperature), but the internet has ample information on best ways to dehydrate food. It is very easy to clean and very simple to operate. The fan is actually pretty quiet too!
Having a good time and my family is eating tons more fruits and vegetables than usual, so win/win all around.
Cincy : Great for drying royal icing!!
I love this! I use it to dry royal icing on my cookies and it works great! 30 minutes at 95F and they are ready to go!
bookclubber : Wow, much better than expected!
After reading so many reviews that said it was too loud, the other ones were def broken! This is MUCH more quiet then my stove hood fan, my bathroom fan down the hall is louder! Comes with the trays plus one insert that is a plastic mesh with much smaller holes and one insert that is a tray. So far we've made onion powder, pineapple, a lot of apples and random veggies. It is very quiet and seems to work very well. My only gripe is that the times in the book it comes with are on the low side. I live in humid eastern US and need to add 3-5 hours to what it has in the book. I lazily just set it up for overnight. The touch pad is easy, set temp, set countdown timer. Thats it.
Cara Mia : Trays keep falling down
Maybe my dehydrator is defective, but the middle 3 trays slip right off the rungs that hold it. I have to keep trying to balance them perfectly so they don't fall. It's as if the trays are too narrow and don't sit solidly on the rungs. As soon as I put any items on the tray the weight makes them fall off the rungs. I would have returned but waited too long, will try to get replaced with warranty. My machine is definitely defective.
Leslie : Good dehydrator
Used it to dehydrate. It worked. Use it out of the house, dehydrated onions and they smelled strong! Did smell like a good burger...
Deborah Deveroux : Great Dehydrator
This is a great machine, making great “jerky”, “banana chips” , “dehydrated mushrooms” “Pineapple” and “apple chips.” Well worth the price
Longshooter : Will not heat past 150 degrees
This is the second one I purchased. The first one wouldn’t get hotter than 135 degrees. It took 16 hours to dehydrate chilli. 14 hours the dehydrate ground beef. Sent it back. Replacement only heats to 150 degrees empty. Not hot enough to properly dehydrate jerky or meat.
PamT : Food dehydrator
I bought this as a gift for my step-daughter. She said she loves it, but I can't answer any of the questions.
Greene1 : Doesn’t work ;(
I’ve had basil in this machine for FOUR DAYS! 105 degrees should have been at max 16 hours, but this took seriously forever Boxing it up this evening to send it back It’s unfortunate because I do like that it was compact and fit exactly in the spot I needed it to
Amazonshopper : My Access Code is Invalid and the temp only goes to 158
So I bought this to make jerky and because you can go to clubcheman.com but the access code on my booklet is invalid and there is no help on the site. You have to pre bake the meat to get above 160 for safety then dehydrate.
Amazon Customer : Very pleased
We bought this to make our own healthy snacks with no salt added. The unit works great. The trays are sturdy and they've worked great alone or with parchment paper. The unit runs quiet. There is a ton of room between the 6 trays. We're very happy with this dehydrator.
PamT : Food dehydrator
I bought this as a gift for my step-daughter. She said she loves it, but I can't answer any of the questions.
PamT : Food dehydrator
I bought this as a gift for my step-daughter. She said she loves it, but I can't answer any of the questions.
aeh0019 : Worth it!
So pleased with this dehydrator! My old dehydrator died and I did not want to spend the money on an Excalibur but really wanted the timer and rear heat/fan features. After days or reading reviews on various products I finally placed my order for the Chefman and went to the store for jerky supplies so I could marinate the meat while my dehydrator was on the way. Once it arrived I wiped it all down with a damp cloth and let it run empty for about an hour then started my jerky. The heat/fan unit worked great drying all the trays without the need of rotating like I had to do with my old stacked dehydrator. So far I've made jerky, various fruits, and fruit leather. Looking forward to many more yummy treats!
gloria : Excellent Product - just as described
Drying time seems to take longer than specified, but I would think it is dependent on users preference of crispness.
Have dried lots of apples. Easy to use. Works just as advertised.
Ron hart : Easy to clean
Very easy to clean and very easy to use
joe tomes : It cost a little more than the rest but, it's worth it
The auto settings are great. I've had it about a month now & have already done eight batches of Deer Jerky & three batches of beef jerky.
P : Works great
The dehydrator works and I like the inclusion of what temperatures and time for what foods. My only gripe is the door. The door sags a bit and you need to either push harder when you close it or lift it up a bit when you close it.
Doug Anderson : Solid unit with nice features. Little downside. 5 months later.......
Great price . I like the timer and heat setting options. Nice appearance. Things I don't care for as much are the plastic trays, I should have upgraded to metal trays. I'm afraid the plastic will break. I don't like the door design. It feels flimsy and you have to be aware that it closes properly. Solid unit for the mid price range. I can't speak for the taste. I use it for my dog treats.
EDIT: 5 months later. I use this dehydrator once a week for the last 5 months. Making dog treats primarily meat products. Works great. The plastic trays have held up to my not so gentle treatment. It cleans up easily. I accidently left it outdoors and it rained heavily. I thought I ruined the machine but after drying out and leaving it on overnight all the controls came back to life. I was very happy. I bought this during a lightning sale. For the price it has been a work horse in producing snacks for my dogs.
Amazon Customer : For cookies
I bought the product for my cookie business to help dry my royal icing. It is fantastic! I love it, it will be a game changer for me. It isn’t to big, it is square which fits cookies nicely and has enough trays to get a nice size order in at once.
Channa Shelden : We love this thing we do you hydrate everything we make ...
We love this thing we do you hydrate everything we make trail mix we try jerky still trying to get that down but it’s hard. Really nice looking but this thing is huge and I mean huge you need a storage room for it. But works well we like it we just need a new storage for it
ForTheLoveofReading : One of the best dehydrators I've ever owned
We eat a lot of fruit in our house and dehydrating is a great way to take it with us on hikes or dry canning when it goes on sale and we buy a bunch. After burning out several different dehydrators we have been thrilled with this and its been put through the paces. The first week we did a half a dozen pineapples, 9 bunches of bananas and a handful of kiwis. The second week was all about apple and strawberry chips and herbs from my tea garden. It's used at least a couple times a week since.
Relatively easy to clean. We use a nylon scrub brush and it works really well. I was amazed at how quiet it is. Even standing next to it it's hard to hear it going. My only complaint is that it did take some tweaking on temps and times with the various things we've dried. Not at all what the booklet had listed but not hard to figure out either. I do not like the fruit leather tray at all that came with it. Outside of that it fits nicely on my countertop and works beautifully.
M.H : Love it. My family loves jerky but the price ...
Love it. My family loves jerky but the price is outrageous. Now that is no longer an issue. We make our own and spice to our taste.
Potato Joe : Not Happy
I’ve done everything the instructions say and just keep wasting food in it. Am going to try jerky in it and if that don’t work I’m done with it
BW : Door doesn’t close properly
Not happy with this dehydrator at all... cheaply made, door doesn’t close tightly on the bottom. Food was taking twice as long before I realized that the door wasn’t shutting completely.
LaSayle M : Does not stand up to the test of time...
Within a few weeks, the door didn't want to close properly. I use this a lot, but I don't even use it near maximum temperature, so I was very irate when the trays started slipping from their supports, less than a year after purchase. Now, I have to buy a new dehydrator, because the sides are visibly warped, & the trays won't stay in place. Now I'm fixing my mistake, & getting a stainless steel machine. To be fair, it lasted for about a year of 3-5 days per week use, so if you rarely use it, it's an okay option.
c : Love this!
Raquel Ruiz : This dehydrator is ok you may just need to let it run a tad longer
I really wanted to love this dehydrator but I just wasn’t feeling it, I want to believe it was something I was doing wrong but I tried everything to just simply dehydrate fruit and I have to believe that there is nothing complicated to that!! Anyhow I returned it for the Excalibur dehydrator which I absolutely love and I’m eating dehydrated kiwis from right now so the fact that everything came out so much more amazing in a completely different dehydrator for far less time tells me that something was a tad off. However if you don’t have an extra $100-200 than this dehydrator will do just fine just make sure to be patient if things don’t dehydrate right away be willing to let it run a tad longer!
David Bixler : Works well, reasonably quiet, high internal volume of space.
Perfect for dehydrating 6-7 KG of filament at a time. Gets to 158f which is perfect for PETG 140f for PLA.
Relatively quiet / low-noise, no harsh tones or whines.
Only knock is the shroud for the fan in the back is too easily bumped, which creates some BAD fan-mesh grind interaction/noise. A better shroud to prevent items from bumping the fan blades would be nice in future models.
Other than that I've had one for about 2 years and it performs extremely well. Got a second unit to keep up with the need.
SquarePeg : Wasn't sure I needed this...
Until I bought and used it. Now I don't know why I didn't buy one sooner! I tried carrots, celery and mushrooms in it right away, and was very pleased with the results. I'm moving on to jerky this year.
Amazon Customer : Highly recommended
After previously leaving a 1 start review as I recieved a broken unit, I can now say I am completely satisfied and happy with my purchase. Amazon and Chefman were beyond amazing in getting me a new unit out ASAP. Today was my first attempt to use it and I have 2 very grateful puppies on my hands now (I made them sweet potatoe chews) I would highly recommend this dehydrator!!! Thank you amazon and chefman ????

I got my dehydrator 1 week ago and I've made 3 batches deer jerky it was perfect! No hot spots all dried even an fast 4.5 - 5.5 hrs depending on thickness, 5 stars as far as that goes. Longevity!!?? Only time wiil tell....
Oksana : A little noisy
Great dryer. The fans on the louder side and in the summer time when we turn it for the night it will keep our house warm and will keep temp in low 70s in the Pacific northwest where nights hit low 50s. If it's not on our house usually will cool down during the night to mid 60s. Otherwise, works great on fruits and meat. It will beep loud when done.
S. Marker : So excited!!
First time dehydrator user here... it’s so easy! In the past 3 days, I’ve made beef jerky, apple slices and kale chips. Very low noise (just a soft fan noise), super easy to use, and really easy clean up! (I use a soft bottle brush with dish soap to wash the racks. The only complaint I have is that’s it takes up a lot of counter space... but that’s to be expected since it has 6 trays.
