Answer: I use mine for dehydrating bananas and strawberries mostly. The time in the booklet will get the fruit dry, but I like to add an additional 30 minutes so that the fruit is really crunchy -like a potato chip. I've made sweet potato chips for my dog also and she loves them from the dehydrator. I also suggest that you use a mandolin for cutting any fruit or vegetables so they are the same thickness when on the tray. That is the most important factor in using the dehydrator.

So I bought this to make jerky and because you can go to clubcheman.com but the access code on my booklet is invalid and there is no help on the site. You have to pre bake the meat to get above 160 for safety then dehydrate.

After reading so many reviews that said it was too loud, the other ones were def broken! This is MUCH more quiet then my stove hood fan, my bathroom fan down the hall is louder! Comes with the trays plus one insert that is a plastic mesh with much smaller holes and one insert that is a tray. So far we've made onion powder, pineapple, a lot of apples and random veggies. It is very quiet and seems to work very well. My only gripe is that the times in the book it comes with are on the low side. I live in humid eastern US and need to add 3-5 hours to what it has in the book. I lazily just set it up for overnight. The touch pad is easy, set temp, set countdown timer. Thats it.

I followed the directions exactly and tried to dehydrate tomatoes, strawberries and herbs in two separate occasions. Both times took twice as long as it said and with poor results. If you are wondering if you should spend the extra dollars for this model, as compared with cheaper brands, do it. The timer is essential so you can customize the temp and the time of your drying cycle. This unit dried fruit twice as fast as an older model I used and was much more precise. I love it and processed about 3 gallons of cherries. I like to store my dried fruit in the freezer and I spray the trays with non-stick cooking spray before laying the fruit down. It not only helps in cleaning up, but the fruit has a more pliable texture.

I used these to dry layers of royal icing on sugar cookies. I purchased the iced cookies in at the lowest temp (95F) for 5-15 mins and could easily decorate the next layer. I still let the cookies dry on a try overnight to make sure the icing is completey dry and solid. This is a huge time saver! Now I don't have to wait hours between layers of icing. Super easy to use, I love that the door opens out, the trays have a lip so stuff doesn't slide off, and there is a drip tray! It does beep once when you start and stop it (which scares my overly anxious dog) but I just unplug it to turn it off and avoid the beep.

I use this to dry out 3D filament so it prints better. There is no food use for me so cleaning is a non-issue. It's very easy to use. Just throw the rolls in and set the temp and timer. There is a bit of fan noise but it's not obnoxiously loud. Just loud enough to be noticeable.

Well, so far as I can tell this is a GREAT product! The guidelines in regards to cooking times are somewhat accurate however I would say that you either have to raise the temperature to meet the timeline guide or extend the cooking time. It cooks meat at 158 degrees accurately. Bananas at the same temp and timeline. Berries and grapes take a bit longer. This dehydrator works amazingly! The Priceline is just right and the quality is pretty good. So far I would say this thing dehydrates meat the best! It's somewhat of a guessing game when it comes to fruit!

This is my first Food Dehydrator and I am very happy with the purchase. I've been dehydrating fruits and vegetables almost every day since receiving it and it works very well. Still experimenting with the best settings for each fruit/vegetable (i.e. thickness, size, type, time, temperature), but the internet has ample information on best ways to dehydrate food. It is very easy to clean and very simple to operate. The fan is actually pretty quiet too!

Longshooter : Will not heat past 150 degrees
This is the second one I purchased. The first one wouldn’t get hotter than 135 degrees. It took 16 hours to dehydrate chilli. 14 hours the dehydrate ground beef. Sent it back. Replacement only heats to 150 degrees empty. Not hot enough to properly dehydrate jerky or meat.

I bought this as a gift for my step-daughter. She said she loves it, but I can't answer any of the questions.
Cara Mia : Trays keep falling down
Maybe my dehydrator is defective, but the middle 3 trays slip right off the rungs that hold it. I have to keep trying to balance them perfectly so they don't fall. It's as if the trays are too narrow and don't sit solidly on the rungs. As soon as I put any items on the tray the weight makes them fall off the rungs. I would have returned but waited too long, will try to get replaced with warranty. My machine is definitely defective.

I don't have much counter space so this size was perfect for my kitchen. I've made tons of beef jerky and fruit. It's amazing.

Totally glad I spent the extra money for this!! Used it all gardening season for my herbs, fruits, veggies, and milk from my cow to make powdered milk, and fruit roll ups!! Best possible purchase and I researched for weeks before I bought! Love it!!!!

I waited till I used this a lot before I rated it.. WORKS GREAT , Very happy ... beef jerky ready in 10 hours... I use London broil about 1/8 in thick has timer and heat setting. Top Notch Unit ... easy to clean. Trays are dishwasher safe

I’ve done everything the instructions say and just keep wasting food in it. Am going to try jerky in it and if that don’t work I’m done with it

This dehydrator is Amazing!!! Easy to move being so light. Made beef jerky with it done in 4 hours. Also made dried fruit. Love the fact it turns off when done. I'm busy chasing kids around and dont have time to check it. The only downside it the door make sure it is closed all the way. It kinda catches on the side. Love the window you can see clear thru. So you dont have to open like the round ones.
ScoutOut : Poor results
I followed the directions exactly and tried to dehydrate tomatoes, strawberries and herbs in two separate occasions. Both times took twice as long as it said and with poor results. It was just as if I had put them in there without turning it on. And now I’m past my window for returning it to Amazon. What a waste of time and money!

The best equipment I have bought in awhile! For dried fruit and great with decorative sugar cookies. Takes 5 minutes to dry!!! Love it, would definitely recommend it!

I decided to start making my own jerky and a dehydrator sounded like a good idea. This one is kinda cheap and has a decent amount of settings. Having a digital timer and temperature setting is fantastic! You just set it and forget it. I do find that I have to leave the jerky in a little bit longer than it should because the door seems like it is cheaply made, resulting in some heat loss. It has a drip tray at the bottom which works out well considering the tray design. Clean up is a breeze, everything is plastic so nothing sticks, you just wipe it down and you're good to go!

I bought this item to make chicken jerky for my diabetic dog. I use it a few times a month and it works great - the six shelves are the perfect amount to make enough jerky for him for 2 weeks. My dog absolutely loves his chicken jerky! My boyfriend has also used it to make dried fruit and beef jerky.

We used this for the 1st time last night to dehydrate fruit. Super easy to use, soooo very quiet, quick. I'm hoping it's life span is a long one!
One suggestion: I remember reading in the booklet to spray the trays, I forgot and did not... Our apples and pineapple did not stick, but the strawberries, mango and bananas did.

Great price . I like the timer and heat setting options. Nice appearance. Things I don't care for as much are the plastic trays, I should have upgraded to metal trays. I'm afraid the plastic will break. I don't like the door design. It feels flimsy and you have to be aware that it closes properly. Solid unit for the mid price range. I can't speak for the taste. I use it for my dog treats.
EDIT: 5 months later. I use this dehydrator once a week for the last 5 months. Making dog treats primarily meat products. Works great. The plastic trays have held up to my not so gentle treatment. It cleans up easily. I accidently left it outdoors and it rained heavily. I thought I ruined the machine but after drying out and leaving it on overnight all the controls came back to life. I was very happy. I bought this during a lightning sale. For the price it has been a work horse in producing snacks for my dogs.

Stussy : Good unit over all
Nice unit works well had to adjust times and temps on the apple chips and other things I have done. But to me that's all part of it. I like how you can set the timer and it shuts off when it's time is up. I didnt put the plastic trays in the dishwasher I just cleaned them with hot water and soap. I didnt want the dishwasher to warp them then the trays not fit right. Good shipping time.

I recently got this machine. I've been experimenting with it. The book really helps because it gives you a guideline as to how long to put in each item. Remember, it's just a guideline so you might need to put it in longer. I can't wait to try it out with mangoes. We also looked up beef jerky recipes. A lot of sites say that you need an additional step like putting it in the oven to kill additional bacteria for the beef jerky, so please make sure you do your research. However some people say they just use the machine. Never tried it. I got this machine during the covid-19 so that I can preserve food. Loving it so far! I have used it on apples, tomatoes and herbs!
