Is this weedless? How is the hook set up?

Answer: Hello! Good question. No, this is not tied with a weed guard or other mechanism to avoid weed snags. Good idea though…! The hook is a downward eye, straight shank, rounded and it comes barbed, though it’s an easy crimp to barbless. We use a lighter gauge hook for this pattern so as to not weigh down the fly as a whole, but it still works well for those aggressive strikes and hook sets.
