Yammo : Finally a decent size lip gripper!
Most lip grippers I’ve seen before these look like a giant pair of plastic vice grips. I needed a certain size lip grip to fit in the same small pocket on my backpack that my scale fits in so this is exactly what I needed. Seems to be made of aluminum and some steel parts so it’s light weight and hopefully the steel holds up to corrosion. Try to rinse and dry it after using it in salt water but forget most of the time. It’s got plenty of places for the hook on my scale to go. The clamp is extremely easy to open with the trigger but once it closes it is impossible to open by trying to pull it open, you need to use the trigger so I’m confident this can hold some extremely large fish, difficult for me to explain the mechanism but the way it works if it’s gripped on a fish it should not let go until you want it to. So far only had to use it on some pretty small halibut but done great so far and sure it will hold up if I ever catch a monster. There are plenty of places to hook hook your scale to the gripper too so this is also a great gripper for weighing your catch before tossing it back as well.

My son uses this gripper and he likes it pretty well. The scale is accurate within an acceptable level and can be calibrated. He has no idea why there is a pointed piece on the bottom part of the grips (My words. I forgot what called that pointy thing that seeming has no use.) and why the trigger is plastic instead of aluminum. However, it does a good job and is lightweight.

This is great for my son. We only fish in ponds/streams, so the fish we get aren't too monstrous. This is small enough to carry in his tackle box or it can be carried w/the lanyard.
The scale is nice, but it's not super accurate. It's close enough for us though. It holds up to 40 lbs, but I'm not sure how well it would do w/a fish that heavy. Our fishing is typically smaller.

I was in a fishing tournament and went to grip and weigh a fish, nothing but eights. Terrible product, looks well made, however, screen is hard to read and inaccurate. An expensive lip holder, not a scale.

I live to fish and fish to live. This is an item that everyone should own at least one of. I myself own 8 fish grippers all types and styles. This one here is a very easy and helpful to use and light and easy to carry. I carry mine on a retractable zipper chain that clips to my belt or paints belt loop. Non slip handle makes landing a fish even more simple. The way they made this make it easy to land a fish, because you can add more pressure to the clamp to make sure that you don't lose that fish. Biggest fish I have landed so far with this was a 14 lb lake trout. It grab the lower lip and held it in place till I was able to lift it up out of the water and into the boat. At no time was I worried about losing the trout. This has severed me very well over the short time I have had it. If things change I will report it. So far as long as i grab by the lower lip, I will have control over any fish I catch. If you grab your fish by the lower lip you to will control your catch as well. Keep your tips up and your lines wet.

This is a really good quality fish grabber. It seems to be really well-made. It is made of aluminum that seems to be extremely strong. The handle is rubber or foam but it’s very comfortable. It’s super simple to use. The lip grips are offset in size, one larger than the other which should be less stressful on fish and will not pierced their skin, while holding firmly. It has a built-in scale up to 40 pounds. You simply hold the handle while holding the fish allowing you to weigh at the same time. While the product description says it’s 7.63 inches long mine is exactly 11 inches long. It also says that it weighs .38 pounds, I would argue that it’s just a little over a pound. In both cases it is a convenient tool to have and I won’t fish without it again. All in all a really great product.

My kids like to go fishing with grandpa. But grandpa doesn’t mind sticking his hands in the fish mouths. If it was just to get the hook out, we would let grandpa take care of this for the kids. But the kids want to hold the fish like grandpa. As we all know, fish are squirmy and slippery. They can be a challenge even for some skilled fishermen.
We needed a device that the kids could hold the fish, it would be fun to use and just practical. It keeps little fingers safe from sharp fins and teeth. So now grandpa takes the fish off the hook and puts them on their blue fish gripper. It makes the pictures way more fun for kid and fish. And let’s be real, if there is no picture of the fish, it didn’t happen , right!?
So the gripper itself is lightweight. It’s easy for the kids to use and certainly fine for adults as well. There is a large grip on the top that’s a dense foam material. At the top of the handle is a hook attached to a nylon type safety rope. It can be adjusted for hand/wrist size. Adding extra control in case the handle slips from the hand. This is a nice lightweight gripper with a good grip and teeth to hold on to the fish. The handle is comfortable foam and the finger trigger is easy to operate, even with cold weather gloves. This device really is handy when a hook could catch a finger, or when cold fingers can’t get hold of a fish with certainty. This makes it easy to just grab the fish by the lip and get it in the boat! Unfortunately I wish there was a bit more grip so a fish can’t flop around and pry open the tongs.
Out of the box, the mechanism is leaking lubricant (oil?) onto the finger trigger. This is bad as the scent of the lubricant can get onto hands, which then can touch bait, which will drive away fish.
The weight scale built inside the handle is nice, but most fresh water fish are under 40 pounds, so it’s not very useful. It would be good for catfish though. Personally, the scale would be far more useful if it only went up to 10 pounds and then could give more accurate weight readings.
