What keeps the tackle from dumping out when you open it? Are the compartments closed/covered?

Answer: They're covered with little snap and close lids.

Answer: Waited 3 weeks, but never received this order. In fact, I just cancelled the order this week so cannot answer questions.

Answer: This will work for both fresh and salt water - the salt may eventually rust the hooks but it's a slow process.

I carry this on my motorcycle. I also have the telescopic fishing rod kit with case, also very compact. I was able to remove the small added tackle box from that, trim edges and was able to install in the case. If you ever like to fish on a whim and want to carry your gear all the time, this is it.
