In my opinion save yourself some money. It can't compare to the "shock" rod. I own several different Berkley rods. Amp,trout dough, inshore and Ice fishing rods.

First time fishing the reel seat handle came unglued so I contacted Berkley about recommending a glue so I could fix the rod myself and they said they could not recommend anything. So I tried to file a claim and got the response that they would sell me another. I tried again to contact to ask if this was not covered under there warranty and now I have been blocked from contacting their E-Mail. I like the rod and actually bought a second one and planned on buying several more before this one broke but I will try not to buy any more Berkley products if this is how they are going to treat the customer on a product still under its claimed warranty!
***********Update-- After this post I was contacted via E-Mail from Berkley and now I am not blocked from sending E-Mails to Berkley. Berkley is honoring warranty and after paying shipping and handling they are sending a new rod.
***********Another Update---They actually sent a spin cast rod instead of a casting rod but since it was their mistake they are letting me keep the spin cast rod for free, without warrantied of course, and shipping me the correct rod. When I called back to let them know about rod mix up the young lady named Sherry was super nice which I appreciated very much. She made me feel much better about ordering from Berkley again. I hope they get this message back to her "Thank you Sherry!" So overall I am much happier with Berkley since talking with someone that was courteous and helpful. Roy H.

Credit where it's due - the rod blank is excellent. The guides are also good if you don't care for micro but want more accuracy. However, after about a month of use the lower reel retaining apparatus (part grip part plastic) decided to break apart and I'd only taken the reel off a handful of times. Submitted a claim to Berkeley since I'd registered the rod. Crickets. Zero Kelvin. I repaired it myself and kept on fishing happily, but I'd shop around a bit before settling on this option. I have rods a lot more expensive, and rods only a tad more expensive, and while the cheaper of the two don't match the performance of this blank, I haven't had to break out the epoxy for them either.

Springer : Not for me !

I hate to do this because I own a few Berkley lightning rods ($30) and I absolutely love them, caught many a big Bass with them, They are light, well balanced and strong.
Okay First Impressions:
Berkley E-Motion rods (spinning and baitcaster)
* Micro Guides (HATE THEM) the berkley videos and description did not say they had micro guides said they were a hybrid guide not at large as regular not as small as micro ! (BS) they are micro guides
* the workmanship of the rod has a lot left to be desired , guide wraps are horrible, looks like someone in training did them on both rods i bought,
(my lightning rods are better wrapped and fancier)
* The EVA foam grips has to be the most inexpensive crap they could find. (definitely not a high quality handel)
* And lastly they don't feel exceptionally light, they are not very balanced , they feel very top heavy with or without a reel on them.

I was kind of disapointed in the rods being i was all worked up to receive them !
I have to say I also just purchased 2 Fenwick HMX spinning rods a couple of weeks ago and if you put them side by side you would definitely know what i mean.

SO! all that being said I still feel i am a big Berkley fan but spending more money on gear does not necessarily mean better (at least in my case)

This is an outstanding rod. Paired it with my curado 200i, my favorite rig of the bunch.
Would purchase this over to the rods that are 150+, Love the guides, balance, and feel of this rod, Berkley hit a home run with this rod. Well done!

Great rod, tons of backbone, I just don't know that I'd classify it as "fast action". Seems more "moderate" to me. Definitely a broom stick ready to haul the biggest fish out of the slop!
