Is it made of steel?

Answer: Yes the one I received was very well made of metal.

when filing it down do you have to be perfectly square to make it work? i can certainly file but i dont want it to be off because of my filing.Thanks

Answer: No I just used a small hand file to fit mine. Just take your time and try to keep it flat.

Answer: I eyeballed it. The key is to go slow. file a little bit off at a time. Fit it. If it does not fit, file a little more off. Repeat this until it fits.

Answer: I'd keep the dovetails as square as possible. Take off small amounts an test the fit. The pin will hold the sight in, but to retain the best accuracy a solid front sight is a must.

I read a user comment, that after installing the meprolight front and rear sights, their gp100 shoots 2" too high at normal distance. is this true?

Answer: With this sight being shorter than the factory front sight, it does shoot higher. I was able to adjust the rear sight to bring the Point of impact down. Used almost all of the rear sight adjustment. Sighted gun in at 30 feet.

Answer: I can tell you that if you only install the front sight you will be shooting about that high with the factory rear sight bottomed out.

Is it green all the time? Or is it white when its not glowing?

Answer: The tritium glows green only in the dark when it's light out you can see the outline of the circle by the white color no green. They work well and they are are adjustable so that's nice. If you live in a free state they Mount High so you can use a suppressor and still seeing your sights.

Answer: Meprolight night sights appear a whitish color during the day. You will see the tritium begin to glow green once the lighting conditions begin to darken

Answer: It measures 0.42" high.

Will this work on ruger alaska super redhawk

Answer: Don’t quote me here, but I think the Alaskan has the front sight held on with a roll pin. This one Is for guns with the spring loaded plunger at the muzzle. That being said, this sight is too low for a magnum in my experience. There wasn’t enough adjustment to zero it with anything but light loads. Anything with any zip shot high with the rear sight bottomed out

Will it fit a Redhawk?

Answer: If your Redhawk has the spring plunger type front sight it will fit. It fit on my 45 Colt Redhawk but it’s lower than the factory Redhawk front sight. Even with the rear adjusted all the way down it caused the gun to shoot very high.

Will this fit the Wiley Clapp model?

Answer: Yes it will. They all use the same dovetail sight cut and spring plunger. A little bit of filing on sight may be required for fit. Easy to do. You tube install instructions.

Need some fitting work but is the Bomb.

chris : Great sight.

I have used this sight on my GP 100 and it worked great with 125 grain bullets, and ok with 158 grain bullets, anything heavier shot too high, even with the rear sight adjusted all the way down. I switched back to the factory sight and put this on my Redhawk but haven't tested it out well enough yet to form an opinion. This sight did require considerable fitting, but it is worth it for how well it shows up in low light.

This is NOT a drop in sight, considerable filing is required to ge it to fit. If you are not comfortable modifying a new part I don't recommend this sight.
