Answer: It all depends on the weights used in rigging your baits. You need enough "Cork" for it to float. Also size determines casting distance, and you will need a heavier/bigger float on windy days. I keep both sizes on hand.

Answer: Not much, entire popping cork weighs a little over half an ounce.

how far does this cast?

Answer: Depends on: type (weight) of main line, type of leader and, type of bait. I use this on a spinning reel rig with: 15 lb braid main line/popping cork/two feet of 20 lb mono as the leader and a Gulp 3" shrimp (new penny color) on a 1/16th ounce jighead. The rod is a 7' 6" Redtail. I get some decent distance with that set up. Especially in low wind. I've cast it at least 30 yards with the wind at my back. Don't be afraid to try them both out, the slim and oval ones.

Works great. I have caught speckled trout, drum, and striped bass on this. Paired with a vudu shrimp it is on fire

They attrack reds and trout like crazy, however after a hook up to a 18-20" fish, the wire bends and you can't straighten it out. If they were $2.00 cheaper they would be idea. You can still catch fish after it bends but you won't achieve the full rattle with the wire bent. Overall it is a great set up.

These are fairly good quality and last a pretty long time compared to others. These are ideal for fishing along mangroves for snapper, 3-5's for trout, etc. I use them with 15-25lb test, and they hold up pretty good. They are weighted well for hand pick shrimp and similar baits. They do get bent after a while and the paint wears off, but that depends on your use. Ive probably gone through 40-50 of these over the years, and will continue buying them.

I tried to made similar rigs myself; but these are not expensive, and they have good quality and workmanship. So why take the trouble?
