Answer: I run them on a down rigger find the fish on the fish finder and troll right over them you will get one. But to answer your question I would think 5-10 feet

What weight line is recommended for this?

Answer: I use anywhere from 50lb to 100lb braided line depending on what I'm going after. I also put hooks on the top fish size is up to you but I have 07 long shank on my rigs. I hope this helps.

Answer: I uses it for Strippers yet it should work in freshwater depending on the type fish you are trying to catch

Glen h. : lure with the actual hook is not strong enough for trophy stripper.

Received lure last week. Looked great. Very excited. Went out on our boat sat for trophy stripper. Got a hit. Issue is that the center line with the hooked lure is either too weak or was not tied sufficiently for the fish. Fish took the lure and left line dangling in center. Useless to me now without hooked lure. Needs to be beefed up for bigger stripper.
