Is it heavy enough to throw with a bait caster

Answer: I throw it on a 7ft medium fast rod with daiwa tatula type r baitcaster with ease. So yes you can. As a side note, the jackall pompadour and the pompadour jr has better action than the crazy crawler.

Answer: yes, if you have a smooth reel and a medium to fast action rod. give it a good toss. I use it with my favorite pitching rod. adjust the retrieve so that it wobbles and dips from side to side. to fast or slow of a retrieve will kill the action completely. a slight twist or straightening to the wings will also change the action. I have one I put weedless hooks on to toss into grass and Lilly pads.

One of the all-time best topwaters, especially for water with some wind-riffle on it. The action really calls them in. Glad I was able to find one on Amazon, because I never see them anymore in the big box tackle stores.

I've owned one of these lures for years, but along the way it did not make it back into my tackle box. I stumbled upon this one while looking for other lures in Amazon and ordered it immediately! Take this out to your favorite bass pond on a hot summer night around dusk, toss it out, let it settle, reel in slowly and wait for the fun! Excellent alternative to the Jitterbug. Depending where you shop, Jitterbugs can get kind of expensive. This creates great topwater noise and gets big hits. The lip on the jitterbug can bend and it awkwardly swims back from time to time depending on wind/reel speed. The crazy crawler has 2 jointed lips...when one is out, the other is in. It's going to swim the same every time. If the lip bends, you bend it back and it will swim the same as it did unlike the jitterbug where you have to bend it just right for it to work properly.

The only advantage that the Jitterbug has that I've seen is sizes. I've only found this one crazy crawler in this size where I have a Jitterbug the same size, and then a slightly larger one that's jointed and they get bigger than that too.

Herodotus : A few weeks ago I caught a very nice bass with this lure

I am catching more and more fish with this weird looking thing!. A few weeks ago I caught a very nice bass with this lure. I was using senko style worms rigged wacky style without any luck. After a long day I finally saw some action......a Northern Pike (not what I was fishing for) started to come after my worm but unfortunately, would just trail it to the boat. I switched to the Crazy Crawler figuring this ought to get the Northern to hit hard. I cast it out, reeled it in slow and steady with a few stops and twitches thrown in for good measure. Half way back to the boat ....bloop....something inhaled the lure.....no, it wasn't any Northern! After jumping out of the water multiple times and fighting like a champ I finally reeled in a very nice bass!! (See pic) BTW....the Northern hit the Crazy Crawler a few casts after I released the bass and put up a decent fight before I landed it (and released it, too). Great fun!!
