whats the size of Ribbit Frog Fishing Lure?

Answer: It is about three inches long. I caught two really nice bass last week from an Idaho lake. The bass came out of the thick stuff to smack the ribbit. It works really well and does no hang up on the moss and gunk.

Does it float?

Answer: no but it doesn't go very far under the waters surface, i've had extremely good luck with this lure. if you want a good weedless frog that floats the kevin van dam frog works great for that.

Is it soft or hard gelled?

Answer: Soft like a rubber worm. Maybe a little tougher. I use mine for catching Snakeheads.

what size hook is recomended

Answer: Great for lily pads, but I liked fishing it with a weighted hook. Preferably a 3' or 3.5' hook. Can fish topwater, pull it through weeds lower in the water and lilies.

Tony : excellent bass bait in weeds or lily pads but in open water too!

You can fish em slow over weeds & lily pads - it pays to let it drop down into openings occasionally and give it a twitch or two before continuing on because as you skitter em across the top of weeds/moss/pads, it causes vibrations that the bass will key in on and follow from underneath, just waiting for their chance to grab it - or you can reel em in faster like a buzzbait in open water near the edge of weedbeds, thru standing timber or just parallel to the bank. As you reel the bait faster across the surface, the little feet kick and churn the water leaving a trail of bubbles, but it doesn't have the mechanical sound like a buzzbait does.

I use a 5/0 extra-wide gap hook with the Stanley Ribbit frogs. They are a great bait. My favorite color is the watermelon green with red/black flecks, with the natural greenish top and white belly 2nd favorite... that being said, I am not 100% convinced the color really matters when it comes to this kind of fishing. The fishing are keying in more on vibration and movement, they are not moving in close and eyeballing the bait like they would with a plastic worm.

I would use good stout line and a baitcasting reel as you're most likely gonna be fishing around pretty snaggy cover, but the Ribbit frogs come thru really good. I like braid or fluorocarbon line for their toughness and lack of stretch. You do NOT want to use standard monofilament line doing this kind of heavy cover fishing - it will stretch around like a rubber band in comparison to braid or fluoro.
